CMLL CAN52 GdR - 03/08/08 (#120)
Recap: 03/14/08

Open: Terrible. Lots of similar bumpers thru the hour.

Intro: Ultimo Guerrero and Marco Corelone talk about their match. Ultimo is Mexican and a Guerreros, so he's clearly on another level. Ultimo's mask is lit really nicely here. Marco Corelone is happy for this opportunity. No announcer standup!

Match 1: Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro (c) vs Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Super Nova (c)
Arena Mexico, 02/29/08

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 15:23
Approx Rating: Okay, a little better than normal.
Other Match Notes: No entrances. During the opener, they call the rudos "Guerreros Tuareg". The ring announcer here calls them "Rebeldes de Desierto". PICK A NAME. What we do confirm, if the ring announcer is to be believed, is what's been implied previously - Nitro's the leader of this gang. Bestia Negra and Terror Chino are your refs.

1: May not have been clipped to start. Mat wrestling starts, though you can't be help but be distracted by the exploding pictures of the commentators. No Magadan. Loco Max and Fabian start off, and battle over full nelsons. Loco's growing his hair out. Payday coming! Zero leg trips, and Fabian wins with an armdrag. Tags to Arkangel and Flash. Rudos are not able to get the ARK ANG EL chant to catch on. Crowd buzzing, but not specifically into this match. Flash has new artwork on his mask. Lockup, Arkangel gets the full nelson as that alarm goes off. Flash reverses to a wristlock, Nitro gets a hammerlock, Flash gets headlock, Arkangel slips out, ties up the legs, and pins them to the mat. Arkangel holds the legs in place while he stands, and Flash has no idea how to get out of this. Arkangel pulls him up into a double chickenwing, and Flash still need a little help to get free. Double wristlock spots, leading to Flash sending Ark out after a double jump armdrag. Tags to nova and Nitro. Nitro broadsides the tecnico with a back elbow. Nova drops on his back to avoid a Nitro clothesline, kips back up to his feet, off the ropes, Nitro tosses him up, and Nova whiffs on the armdrags on the way down. That was not good. Nitro misses a clothesline, Nova comes back with a spinning headscissors to send him out. Loco Max sends Nova out with a dropkick, Fabian knocks him down with a jumping clothesline. Clothesline misses Arkangel, and get knocks down Fabian with a springboard plancha. Fabian gets back up, shoulderblock, off the ropes - no, Nitro trips him up. Arkangel backs up to dive, but gets cut off by a Flash springboard armdrag. Nitro complete the cycle by coming in and booting Flash. Nova gets Nitro with a springboard headscissors, off the ropes, tope con giro Fabian back in and awkwardly grabbing Loco Max in an abdominal stretch. That's it for them, and Flash wrapped it up with a quebrada.

2: Slow start to the fall. Ark and and Fabian start in, and Fabian gets knocked down when trying to go for a leapfrog. There's an awkward cut on the next spot (and since they show the same footage later, it's surely blown). Fabian comes back with hiptosses and armdrags and knocks Ark out with a dropkick. Fabian goes out there to fight, and pulls out Metalico's apron headscissors bit. They've been hanging around each other too much. Loco Max and Flash in. Flash surprises Loco with a handspring plancha - surprises him that he wasn't just flipping for no reason. Corner whip, reversed, Loco charges in, Flash makes him eat boot. Flash charges out, monkey flip, but Flash lands on his feet. Flash sends Loco out with a rebound armdrags, and Loco bails from the ring to prevent a dive. Nitro comes in to cut off Flash, Super Nova gets him with a springboard plancha, Arkangel pulls Nova down by the mask from the outside, and the beatdown is on. Nova takes a dropkick out. Fabian's held in the ropes for a guillotine splash, and Nitro hooks his legs to make it a legal pin. Crowd loud about something, not sure if it's this. Flash is tossed around, manages to land on the middle rope, but ends up crotched there. Loco Max gives him a dropkick to the back while he's hanging there, and Nitro wins the fall with a Boston Crab. It's all Nitro.

El Arte de Catch

El Imortales: Dr. Wagner vs Solitario!

3: Rudos enjoy the card girl. I guess they don't see much of them in the desert. Beatdown continues once they get back to business. Rudos don't seem to be as much on the same page as you'd expect for guys who've been taming forever. Lots of standing around why other guys doe moves. Someone's saying something over the PA as this goes on, and fans react to that, not as much to the match. Flash starts the comeback with a double dropkick on the guys who are not Arkangel. Ark helpfully stands and waits for Flash to get up, and then eats a side kick. Flash charges Ark again, Ark ducks down, Flash dive rolls to the stage, then comes back in with a springboard headscissors. I don't know what happened to the rest of the tecnicos, but he's doing fine on his own. 'rana, one two Nitro breaks it up. Nitro chests slaps Flash down. Whip, Flash into a spinebuster, Nitro get the crab back on, and Super Nova rushes off the ropes to break it up. About time. Super Nova gives Nitro a forward fireman's slam and hooks on a sharpshooter, but Loco breaks it up. Loco gets a figure four on Nova, and Fabian breaks that up with stomps. Fabian's fired up for some reason. Whip, drop toe hold, and Arkangel comes into stomp in Fabian's head. Whip, Fabian ducks a double clothesline and goes for a double springboard back elbow. Arkangel moves out of hw ay, Loco sorta moves out of the way and sorta gets hit too. I'm not real sure. Arkangel shoots loc a look, and then works on Fabian by himself with chops. Fabian's set up on the top rope and forearmed one more time. Arkangel climbs out of the ring and behind Fabian, taking his time to get set. Ark gets up on Fabian's shoulders. Super Nova gets on the apron, yells at Arkangel, and pulls him off with a loose springboard 'rana. Fabian drops down, puts Nitro on the top rope, and ends up eating boots. Nitro can't get down before Flash runs and jump over to join him, and 'ranas him off. The crowd noise is really odd here. Fabian jumps off the top rope with a moonsault into the background while Loco Max dropkicks Flash out. Super Nova's blocked form coming in too, and Loco Max rolls out to collect Fabian and throw him back in. Loc and Nitro whip Fabian and give him double backdrop. Double boot sends Fabian right back out, so that seem not worth the effort. Nova rushes in, but is grabbed and chest slapped. Corner whip, Loco Max splash, whipped out into a Nitro spinebuster, legs held apart for a Arkangel questionably low flying elbow drop. Ark took a while teasing that. Triple submission gets the win.

El Diseno: Sombra de Plata

Match 2: Último Guerrero vs Marco Corelone
Arena Coliseo, 03/02/08

  1. Ultimo reversed plancha (1:57)
  2. Marco left cross (1:51)
  3. Ultimo superbomb (5:14)

Winner: Ultimo (2-1)
Match Time: 9:02
Approx Rating: As good as expected.
Other Match Notes: The 3rd Generic Music Theme is used for Marco here. Marco says he's got a plan to stop the foul from last week. Ultimo looks like he's wearing an old Mascara Magica coat. Bestia Negra is the ref.

1: Seems JIP, but we still hear the whistle. Ultimo is pounding on Marco when the match picks up. Marco can't get off the mat for all the stomping that's going on. Head into the buckle. Marco picked up to take some chops. Ultimo works over the inside of the leg. Whip, drop toe hold, elbow drop to the back. Crowd tries to chant for Marco, and Ultimo mocks them. Ultimo spends time making fun of the fans, and responding to a chant for him. Corner whip, Ultimo charges in, no one's home. Ultimo out, Marco leapfrogs him, and hits the springboard clothesline. Aguila flap. Corner whip, Running corner plancha, up top, Marco hits the plancha, but Ultimo rolls thru one two three! Not even a tights pull on that.

Q: Quien diseno su Mascara?- this question is up for 2 seconds.
A: Angel Azteca

2: I like how Marco is loosening up between the falls. That must've been the problem. We check out the ring girl, instead of Marco putting out how tall he is. He just barley clears Ultimo on one leapfrogs and Ultimo appears to fear for his life. Ultimo kicks him when he's showing off, headlock, shot off, over, under, quick stop, Marco blocks the kick and gets in his punch. There are definitely some fans booting Marco and it's the girls cheering him. Marco finishes his hip swivel before picking up Ultimo. Another big left handed punch. Referee objects and gets the hip swivel. That's a new idea. Corner whip, Corelone tries another corner splash, but Ultimo dodges and Marco hangs himself. Ultimo knocks him down with a kick to the sternum, and adds his corner headstand sit. Rudos fans ask for one more. Ultimo does it, but Corelone moves out of the way, tosses him off, punches him in the head one more time, one two three! That's a deadly left hand.

El Art de Catch

3: Post off to start the fall. Fans are divided. Miguel says the ugly people are rooting for Ultimo. Clip? Corelone turns around an attack in the corner to chop Ultimo a bunch, then lay him out with a punch. Marco gets in one more pose. Ultimo set up on the top rope and punches. Corelone leaps up after him, and actually get the 'rana for once! One two NO. I think he's been low blowed every other time. Corelone flaps to his feet, taking his time to follow up. Corner whip, Corelone charges in, Ultimo leaps over him and hooks him in a corner sunset flip, one two no. Both guys exhausted. Ultimo up first and punching. Whip, reversed, Ultimo tries a sunset flip, Corelone breaks free to hip swivel, Ultimo gets him with an inside cradle instead one two NO. Ultimo wasn't close enough to get to the ropes. Typical CMLL singles match recovery time. Corelone picks up Ultimo, but Ultimo grabs him - hanging suplex! Wow. One two NO. Typical CMLL singles match slow third fall slow counts, too. Ultimo picks up Marco, but Marco breaks free, kicks him, and suplex him. Will it work for him? One two NO. Okay, new idea. Ultimo up first, corner whip, charge, Corelone moves and Ultimo take the knee bump to the floor. SUPERMAN DIVE TO THE FLOOR! That looked good, though Corelone hit hard. Corelone rolls Ultimo in and gets up behind him. Ultimo seems worried, even more so with the crowd chanting Corelone. Clip here? Corelone charges the corner, springboard clothesline ends up getting the ref, not Ultimo. Ultimo charges Marco, Marco puts him on the top and punches him again. Don't try it again! Sure enough, Marco jumps to the top rope again, and takes a low blow uppercut. Ultimo powerbombs him off the top rope for good measure, and the ref wakes up just in time to count the pin. One two three.

Ultimo celebrates being a winner. Too bad Atlantis is out here as his cornerman, he'd be having a ball. The doctor comes to the ring to check on Ultimo, and we get a replay of the ref bump and the low blow. Marco can't believe he got fouled yet another week. Revenge! One on one! He'd put his hair on the line if that's what it takes. He respects Ultimo, but he fouled him yet again. Marco's beside himself.
