CMLL CAN52 GdR - 01/12/08 (#112)
Recap: 1/16/08

So here's the changes with Arena Coliseo I can pick up
- the aprons have been replaced with the movable adboards
- the entrance aisle has been widened, at least twice the size it was before at the door, narrowing as it comes closer to the ring . The old barrier walls with painted masks are gone, and the new walls are blank. Maybe they'll paint them later?
- the Roman gate entrance has been replaced with a faux-metal doors, which split in the middle to open up. It's so WCW Saturday Night. There's big spotlights behind the door, so everyone looks like they're entering from a giant white light.
- the ring seems bigger, though I'm not sure if I'm imagining it

Black Warrior talks about CMLL being the best wrestling in the world. HMMM. No announcer stand up open.

Match 1: Amapola (c), Hiroka, La Nazi vs Luna Magica, Marcela (c), Princesa Blanca
Arena Coliseo, 01/06/08

  1. rudas
  2. tecnicas
  3. rudas

Winner: Rudas (2-1)
Match Time: 12:31
Approx Rating: Good.
Other Match Notes: Dubbed entrances. Marcela says this is going to be her year, her year to be World Champ again. Amapola has her belt, Marcela does not have hers. La Nazi vows to destroy the tecnicos in her promo. No clip to start, lots of standing around while they figure out who's staying in.

1: Marcela and Amapola start off, and have two minutes of back and forth mat wrestling before they hit the ropes, and :45 more until Marcela headscissors Amapola out. It's good, as you'd expect. Nazi is in for the rudas and over powering Marcela, but Marcela sneaks in a second rope headscissors and a spinning headscissors sends her out. Tags to Blanca and Hiroka. Hiroka's side kick misses, Blanca rolls under, off the ropes, and backing Hiroka up with a rolling trip. Odd. Whip, quick reverse into a Hiroka forearm. Blanca off the ropes, cross body, one two no. Hiroka tries another kick, Blanca catches it and spins her, and then spins her another dimension for a spinning backbreaker. On more, and Hiroka goes out. Luna and Amapola in, Luna cartwheels to avoid a dropkick. I guess that's one way to do it. Luan escapes a powerbomb and sends Amapola to the ropes with a headscissors. Amapola comes back in, but takes a fireman's carry into a powerbomb. Dropkick sends Amapola out, but luckily La Nazi cuts off Luna before she can dive. Nazi tosses Luan around by her hair, ignoring the warnings not to do so. Chest slap. Corner whip, Luan goes to the middle rope and dropkicks Nazi on there way in. Magica bodyscissors into a bulldog, and a dropkick to knock La Nazi thru the ropes. Magica starts setting up for a dive, but Nazi stops her again, tripping her up and pulling her out. Amapola tries to add a dropkick from inside the ring, but it gets her partner instead. Luna slips back in, charges Amapola, and gets backdropped into a pescado on Nazi (who doesn't much catch her.) Tecnicas dropkick the other rudas, but their attempts at pins are stopped - Hiroka sits down to block a Blanca bodyscissors cradle, getting her own pin, and Amapola drops Marcela with the Devil's Wings. That's the fall.

Q: [Marcela] Que Triunfo Ha Tenido?
A: Mexico State Women, National, CMLL, La Gata's mask and Briosa and Migala's hairs

2: Ruda beatdown. Marcela takes corner clotheslines, Nazi sandwiching him in the corner. Blanca is tossed around by her hair. Magica is whipped into a La Nazi corner double boot. Marcela is dropped to set up for a Nazi splash, but she pulls the tecnica up before three. Blanca is dropped for a Hiroka splash, which is somewhat less effective. Luna gets killed by Amapola's running sit on the ropes. Marcela aback in, whipped, ducking the double clothesline and double clothesline Nazi and Amapola instead. Hiroka stands around stunned, until Marcela chests slaps her. Marcela tries to throw her by the hair, Hiroka blocks (?) and Marcela repositions to corner whip Hiroka instead. Reversed, Magica flips her partner to the apron, backs up Hiroka with a kick, and gives her a slow headscissors Amapola dropkicks Luna, poses for the crowd. I thought that's where Marcela would jump back in with a missile dropkick, but Amapola hits the ropes, runs back the other way, and goes thru the ropes with a tope con giro on Luna. (Luna's overwhelmed by the dive and doesn't make the catch.) Nazi comes in, and Blanca missile dropkicks her, immediately getting the pin. Hiroka jumps at Marcela, but ends up taking an electric chair powerbomb. That's the fall.

Arte de Catch: It returns, thought he names of the moves do not. This is la campana anyway. They didn't have a clip of La Mascara doing it?

I think for a second that they're giving us a shot of the door opening with nothing else going on just because the door is so awesome. But then it turns it out the card girl is just a little late.

3: Amapola is stomping Marcela in to the mate we join. Amapola picks up Marcela by her hair, but Marcela shoves her off and gives her a spinning back elbow. Marcela off the ropes, Amapola lifts her up, and Marcela locks a headscissors cradle one two reverse one two no. Amapola charges Marcela, matches tries to back suplex, Amapola lands on top one two no. Amapola wants a faster count. Amapola miss a clothesline, Marcela levels her with one, and another, and another. Will three dropkicks do it? One two NO. Nice try anyway. Marcela puts on a step over armbar and grabs the other arm, and La Nazi breaks that all up with a big boot. Blanca comes in for his side, and the two get into a chop battle. Nazi corner whips Blanca, and charges, but Blanca backdrops her to the apron and dropkicks - well, the top rope, but they like to pretend it connected with Nazi. Blanca double jump plancha! I totally wasn't expecting that, though now I remember I should've been. I thought it was an odd dive fake. Luna clotheslines Hiroka as she comes in. Chop, corner whip, Hiroka climbs the corner and dives out with a plancha on the two girls on the floor. Ah, I see, they want to make sure there's three people out there when Luna dives, so someone might catch her. Someone's thinking today! Luna hits her feet on the top rope as she dives under it for a tope, but otherwise it's fine for her standards. Amapola and Marcela in, Amapola's clothesline caught and turned into a double underhook backbreaker. Is that it? One two NO. Marcela trying to drag Amapola over for something, but Amapola cradles her and grabs the bottom rope, one two three! Amapola celebrates being a winner.

El Diseno: Sagrado

Match 2: Mephisto (c), Ohara, Okumura vs Felino, La Mascara (c), Maximo
Arena Mexico, 01/04/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:20
Approx Rating: Third fall was better than usual.)
Other Match Notes: No entrances. La Mascara is in charge? That's going to cost the tecnicos.

1: Clip? Felino and Ohara are feeling each other out as we join the match, and that darn siren is going off. Mat wrestling. Ohara gets Felino in a wristlock at one point and tries to roll backwards, but instead rolls right into Felino's knee. Not Ohara's finest moment. They show the referees while the guys work everything out (and stop with the chain wrestling.) Felino quickly gets a hiptoss, and Ohara quickly gets out. Ohara and Maximo in, reacting to the fans reacting to Maximo. Maximo is in a very spinny mood. Lockup, break. Lockup, Maximo with a full nelson, then drops it feel Okumura's chest instead. Okumura recovers with his partners as the crowd gets on him. Lockup, Maximo full nelson fell up again. This time, Ohara comes in to shove Okumura and tell him to stop screwing around. Maximo leads the crowd in chants against Okumura, but the crowd is so turned down, it's tough to make out. Maximo get in an armdrags, and then tries to grope Okumura. Okumura's had just about enough of this. Tags to Mascara and Mephisto. Mephisto tries to get the crowd chanting for him, but it doesn't seem to be work. Mascara charges, Mephisto catches him by the arm, headlock, Mephisto shot off, over, under, rolling over, waved by, Mascara gets Mephisto with a spinning armdrags (sorta), Mephisto goes out, Mascara catches him on a tope on a side that usually doesn't get them. Felino comes in, but gets out numbered by the Japanese, and Okumura gets in his inverted DDT. Ohara gets Maximo in double armbar, and that's the fall. If your captain dives, you sure are in a lot of trouble lately.

Maximo, Leobardo, and Leobardo's bowler hat chat. Maximo has big plans for 2008. I'm fascinated by the hat.

2: Match picks up with rudo beatdown already falling apart - Mephisto eats a Team Japan double clothesline, and Felino Mascara clean them out. Ohara and Okumura re-whipped into the corner, Felino's whipped  in to clothesline them both, and their legs are held open for Maximo to hit the running butt bump. Mephisto storms in the ring, but gets a jumping butt bump too. Mascara is boosted into a dropkick on both Japanese, and Maximo follows them with a plancha. Mep temporarily gets the better of two, but Mascara crotches him on the top rope, and Felino leaps off the corner for a (very loose) headscissors. It's an idea, but not a good looking one. Mephisto's hold down on the mat so Maximo can fall backwards on top of him - for the three count. Okay. The whistle for the third fall blows during replays of this fall, and the replays go on for quite a while after.

El Arte de Catch: a SENTON. Fancy.

Perros del Mal talk about how great CMLL is.

3: Joined in progress. Japanese are bent over and facing the ramp for whatever reason, and Maximo dropkicks them from behind. Mephisto comes in, but Maximo ducks the clothesline and gives him a springboard armdrags. Dive fake and pose. Felino in and running the ropes just to be fast. Okumura watches, then clotheslines him down. Gory Special? Mephisto chops Felino while he's hanging there. Felino drops free, and headlock and headscissors those two. Ohara grabs Felino, and that works as well as ever. Ohara goes out on a Mep chop, and Okumura trips Felino into dropkicking Mep out. Felino rolls out of the path of Okumura senton, then hits the ropes for a double jump tope con giro onto Ohara. Captains are in, and staring at the crowd. The crowd isn't as into it. Mascara sunset flip, Mephisto roll thru dropkick, mascara bends out of the way and rehooks Mephisto for a pin, one two no. Mascara off the rope, bodyscissors cradle into - no, Mephisto squirms away before Mascara can lock on his move. Mep stays in, Mascara charges him, Mep backdrops him to the apron, Mep charges and slide, Mascara hops out of the way and goes for an Asai, but Mephisto pulls him off and Mascara chin drops the apron. Felino in, but missing on a handspring elbow. Ohara knocks him out of the ring with a running kneelift, and Okumura follows with an apron dropkick. Back inside, Maximo slams Ohara and heads up, but Ohara pops up and kicks Maximo off the ropes and out of the ring. Ohara quick to the apron, Bruce Lee pose, and he hits his own flying dropkick. Back to the captains, Mascara on the apron, Mephisto battering him form inside the ring. Mephisto tries to pose Mascara, but he blocks it and enziguri him. Mascara up top, plancha hits, Mascara rolls free, Mascara clothesline ducks, Mep kick to the gut, Devil's Wings, one two three. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Rudos celebrate a hard earned win. Replays, but no post match interviews.
