CMLL CAN52 GdR - 12/08/07 (#107)
Recapped: 12/18/07

Intro: Amapola crashes the open so she can hype her own title defense. She beat Lady Apache, so she can beat Marcela. Somehow, they still manage to throw it to Shocker (w/Que Monito) and Olimpico promos.

Outside the Ring: Mascarita Dorada. This is all cute footage with him and his children and his wife, and I'm just looking to see if I can spot the Mexico Minis title. I am a horrible person.

Charity: www.serhumano.org.mx is plugged thru the show.

Match 1: Amapola vs Marcela for the CMLL World Women's Championship (1st Defense)
Arena Mexico, 12/02/07

  1. Amapola Devil's Wings (3:45)
  2. Marcela Michinoku Driver (1:45)
  3. Amapola backcracker (4:52)

Winner: Amapola (2-1)
Match Time: 10:22
Approx Rating: Quite good, though you couldn't hear it.
Other Match Notes: Marcela makes belt motions on the way to the ring, though her own title seems to be MIA. I guess that's to not give this away. Luna is Marcela's second, Rosa Negra is with Amapola. Tiger Hispano goes over the rules for a bit before the match.

1: Lockup, break. Lockup, Marcela with a waistlock, Amapola with a hammerlock, Marcela with a headlock, Marcela with an armbar, Amapola counters into her own, Marcela forward rolls into an armdrags. They been doing a good job of hiding all the empty seats until that shot. Marcela with a hammerlock, Amapola tries a back elbow but Marcela ducks under, armdrag, and Marcela ties up Amapola's legs. Amapola reaches for the ropes, but ends up switching to a headlock. Marcela frees herself, puts on an armbar, and takes an armdrag across the ring. This building is so quiet. And there's the horns to try and fix that. Lockup, Marcela with an modified armbar, Amapola goes for her hair, Marcela swats her away and hiptosses her to the mat. Armbar still on. Marcela switches to a double armbar, but Amapola slips out and hooks on a back press cradle for two. Again, two. Marcela reverses to a back bridge cradle, one two no. Both up, Marcela with a back heel trip into a cradle, one two no. Amapola up first, and dropkicking Marcela in the chest. Amapola picks up Marcela, but Marcela fights her off, grabs her arm, and gets in a running up the ropes headscissors. Amapola off the ropes, and Marcela kicks her thru them. Marcela follows with a pescado. Amapola's actually the first one back in (after a replay), but Marcela gets her with a shoulder and a slingshot sunset flip . One two NO. Marcela off the ropes, waved by, and back with a handspring headscissors into an inside cradle one two NO. I don't know if Marcela planned on doing that, or just lost the headscissors and covered. It was smooth either way. Marcela off the ropes, Amapola hooks her arms and pulls her into position - Devil's Wings! One two. Amapola celebrates as if this was a one fall match. Sadly, no.

2: Marcela tries charging Amapola to start the fall. This is a failure, Amapola side slams her, dropkicks her in the face and covers for - two. That would've been harmful. Hey, look, a Canada flag on the CMLL Women's belt. A Canadian challenging for this title, that'd be odd. Amapola with a whip, but Marcela springboards and lands a back elbow, one two no. Whip, reversed, no,  Marcela sneak a waistlock and a backwards rollup for two. They're working hard, no one is there who cares. This is making me sad. Corner whip, Marcela charges, Amapola moves and trips her up into the middle buckle. Running sit to the back in the corner, that's slightly new. Amapola taunts the crowd, which does get them to react. Corner whip, Amapola yells at the crowd before turning to charge, and pays for it via missile dropkick. Marcela with a bottom rope springboard headscissors - she totally missed the bottom rope and still pulled it off. Marcela is so good, even when I think she's messed up, I'm not completely sure she didn't mean to do it that way. Gutbuster, but no cover. Amapola is yanked up by her hair, Marcela Driver one two THREE. The people who have shown up are apparently rudo fans, based on their reaction here.

3: We miss the very start of this fall, but Marcela quickly gets in a a dropkick for a two count. Marcela tries a bodyscissors, but Amapola reveres it to a face first powerbomb for two. Amapola picks up Marcela, but Marcela fights away with a spinning back elbow. Marcela off the ropes, slowing as Amapola throws a clothesline, Marcela hooks the arm and grabs Amapola - reverse Gory stretch, Amapola slips free, and puts the same move on Marcela! Marcela squirms free to a sunset flip, one two no. Amapola hits hard on a dropkick, and Marcela rolls out. Amapola off the ropes - tope con giro! That was quite suicidal, Amapola going thru the ropes and starting to turn over so late, I figured it was a normal tope. Amapola is first in again, but Marcela catches her with a jawbreaker and heads up. Amapola recovers quickly, slapping Marcela as she heads up. Amapola climbs up - superplex. Amapola covering one two NO. Corner whip, Marcela hops to the top rope, Amapola takes quite a while to realize this, Marcela lands a missile dropkick, one two no. Crowd is into the match more than they were at the start, but no big reaction for this near fall. Corner whip, reversed, Amapola charges, Marcela moves, and Amapola takes her spin around the corner post to the floor. Marcela to the top rope - plancha! They're both looking tired, so this is a good time for plenty for replays. Both climb in at the same time, but Marcela's in better shape, pointing to the crowd before picking up Amapola. Fireman's carry into a side backbreaker, Marcela sits on top for a cover, one two no. Marcela starts to grab Amapola's hair, but let go to climb the ropes. Amapola is quickly up and stopping her with a punch. Superplex again? No, Marcela blocks scoops - SUPER MARCELA DRIVER! One two NO! Slow count did Marcela in there, and she's livid. Yelling at the ref, justifiably so. Amapola's back to her feet, and Marcela turns in time to avoid being attacked. Marcela's clothesline misses, Amapola backstabber one two THREE.

Amapola is thrilled. Magadan is thrilled. Marcela, not so much. The people who are there do applaud. Amapola is all fired up about the win. You could barely tell she was just slammed form the middle rope seconds ago.  Replays of the finish as Marcela celebrates and talks to the camera some more.

Vignette: Amapola talks about how great she is - she beat Lady Apache! she beat Marcela! she's going to beat all the women! she's the greatest!

El Diseno: Nitro

Match 2: Lizmark Jr. (c), Olimpico, Black Warrior vs Mistico (c), Shocker, Rey Bucanero
Arena Mexico, 12/02/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: 2-1
Match Time: 8:10
Approx Rating: Heavy build to a non-existent tag match.
Other Match Notes: No entrances, to make up the time they would've got by clipping the opener. I thank them for doing it this way.

1: Sounds like the bell is dubbed in here, though it's possible the rudos might have jumped the tecnicos upon entry, just as presented. Of the three rudos, it's Olimpico who gets Mistico, with the hair match participants being matched up in brawls on the outside. Rey is isolated in the ring, and takes the slingshot/guillotine legdrop for a pin. Shocker is in and out quick, and Mistico gets beat up more. Warrior gets in his 619, and Lizmark gets the superkick, and Olimpico lands on Mistico with a tope con giro. Shocker back in, and Warrior feeds him to Lizmark for his spinning side slam. These two are getting along very well for guys who have issues two days later.

Q: Quienes estuvieron en us duelo de apuestas? -
A: Rey Bucanero, Olimpico, Shocker (and Blue Panther, but he's not in this match, so he doesn't count)

Mistico gets slammed into the announce desk, which allows them to plug the Teleton pig. Wait, WHAT?

2: beatdown continues, mostly separated brawling. Ring girl is way late out, but that's fine. We're not missing anything. We see way more of Olimpico's backside then we need to at one point. Mistico gets slammed on the outside, for no good reason. Warrior gets in a random apron tope giro on Bucanero, and then DDTs him on the floor. Back in the ring, Mistico pulls out La Mistica from nowhere. Lizmark Jr. is a foot away, watching the finish, and walks away. This is horrible. Shocker punches Lizmark around and works him over for a bit - not the instant finish you expect here, but more beating up up and setting him up for Monito spots. Rey gets revenge on Warrior on the floor, including throwing him over the announce desk and into the announcers. We never actually see Shocker pin Lizmark, but I guess it happened. Shocker continues beating up Lizmark, but on the outside. Warrior fools around with the announcers.

3: We join in the middle of Shocker and Rey getting their spots on Warrior and Lizmark. It's almost as if they're building up a tag team match between the two. Monito gets in a top rope splash, of course. Everyone strut! Olimpico and Mistico goof around before they start as well. Not too much time left in this show. First spot is Mistico tricking Olimpico thru the ropes on a 619 fakeout. Flipping run, headscissors, running up h ropes flipping armdrags, fireman's carry escape into an armdrags, and out goes Olimpico. Will Mistico follow? TOPE! Front row women get smashed. Shocker jumps in the ring, and Lizmark flattens him. We get a replay of the dive, and hopefully not much more, because there doesn't seem to be a lot of time left in the hour. Lizmark and Shocker get into a chop fest, Shocker backs up, Rey grabs Lizmark and gives him a reverse backbreaker and a inverted facelock elbow drop (or whatever I'm supposed to be calling that), while Shocker picks up a clean fall on Warrior with his headlock/hammerlock combo.

Lizmark tries to yell to the camera that it was only two, but gets jumped by Rey Bucanero. Warrior had dumped Shocker and is actually pointing at the crowd instead of making the save. Replays. Shocker and Warrior talk about the match on Friday. Lizmark seem to signal he's in the match instead of Toscano when Toscano is brought up, but neither tecnico seems to pick up on that. Shocker is all about hitting the catchphrase.  No signs of dissension here.
