Hector Garza has lung cancer, is leaving wrestling to fight it

This note was sent out by Perros del Mal, Monday evening

The abbreviated translation: Hector Garza’s health problems are lung cancer. He’s retiring from wrestling for the moment to fight it, and has 6 chemotherapy sessions scheduled. They’ll do more exams after them to trace the progress of the disease and re-evaluate then.

Perros del Mal first referred to Garza’s problems twelve days ago, right before the latest Perros del Mal show, and only saying something would be announced in the next couple of days. Garza was supposed to debut his Angeles Rebeledes faction on that show, which (judging from Lucha s2000 interviews) would’ve been himself, Toscano and Latin Lover once Latin dealt with his own health issues.

Despite missing the Perros show, Garza did work the Copa Antonio Pena at Heroes Inmortales. It’s surprising he participated and the 12 men royal rumble match being quietly expanded to 13 men suggests they had plans to pull him from the match but changed their mind before the show. Garza was last one in the rumble and may have not stayed long. It’s his last match for the moment. Garza was scheduled to work in Monterrey this Sunday, but the promotion announced he would be off the card this afternoon, as news started to get out.

I hope Hector has a full and speedy recovery.

Hector Garza is off this weekend’s AAA show in Arena Coliseo Monterrey. Zumbi takes his place. Garza seems to have an odd illness which prevents him wrestling except for Heroes Inmortales. I’m sure this will be resolved one way or another.

The third part of Dorian and Konnan’s interview is here. I’m listening to this as I type this, but I forgot the link!

No one stains Rayo’s name quite like Rayo does.

Fantasy says he told everyone he was going to win, no one believed him, but now he’s got Mercurio’s mask and he wants a title match next.

CMLL (SUN) 10/14/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La Catederal]
1) Magnus, Sagrado, Soberano Jr. vs Camorra, Inquisidor, Ramstein
Sagrado & Magnus replaced Metalico & Tigre Blanco. Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Fuego, Mr. Cacao, Stuka Jr. DQ Arkángel de la Muerte, Hijo del Signo, Skándalo
Rudos were accompanied by Nitro (seemed to be walking okay) and new valet Isis. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Cacao surprising Arkangel in the first, Arkangel fouling Cacao in the second. Stuka challenged Arkangel to a match in Cacao’s promotion in November.
3) Goya Kong, León, Marcela b La Seductora, Mima Shimoda, Zeuxis
Tecnicos took 1/3 in a good women’s match.
4) Fantasy b Mercurio [mask]
Very good match. Seconds were Pequeno Olimpico & Astral. Fantasy was wearing his original mask design, while Mercurio’s torn mask revealed dyed hair. Mercurio won the first with a Destroyer, Fantasy the second with a spanish fly in slightly longer than usual opening falls. After a long and exciting third fall, Mercurio went for the Destroyer again, Fantasy escaped and used his own piledriver for the win. Mercurio is Abraham Arrieta Gonzalez, from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 25 years of age, 5 years a wrestler.
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Máximo DQ Negro Casas, Rey Escorpión, Tama Tonga
Maximo replaced Rush. Straight falls for the tecnicos, rudos DQed for excessive violence in the second.
6) Volador Jr. b Diamante Azul
Mije accompanied Volador won the first fall with the backcracker. Diamante Azul trapped Volador in the escuedo in the second. A long third fall included a bit where Diamante Azul german suplexed Volador and Mije at the same time. Mije, who was often involved near the end, took the worst of it. Right after, Volador took a wild backdrop to the floor, and was barely able to catch Mije when he was tossed out. Finish saw Azul german suplex Volador again, Mije break up the pin with a splash again, ref admonished Mije, Volador teased a foul, Azul covered up, Volador pulled his mask off and covered him for the win.

IWRG officially announced the annual Castle of Terror show for 11/01, a Thursday night taping.

The IWRG show did not air on AYM Sports tonight. The same listing that correctly predicted IWRG being pre-empted list it as airing this Monday at 9pm Central instead (and every Monday after that, though you should never believe next week’s listings for that sort of channel.) If it airs, I am not really sure how I’m going to get it cut/converted/uploaded before the usual Tuesday morning post update. That post may move to later in the day or maybe get split up somehow, I’ll see.

Black Terry Jr. has photos from a Mexico City show with Santo & Solitario in the main event.

10/21 AAA Fusion lineup (Arena Lopez Mateos)

AAA Fusion (SUN) 10/21/2012 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Astro de Plata (IWRG) & Freelance vs Dr. Cerebro & Mike Segura
2) La Braza, Nygma, Polvo de Estrellas vs La Hechicera, Mari Apache, Sexy Star
3) Aerostar, Extreme Tiger, Súper Fly vs Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker
4) Ricky Marvin & Super Crazy vs Daga & Halloween [GHC JUNIOR]
5) El Mesías, Fenix, Vampiro vs Chessman, Silver King, Último Gladiador

air date: 10/24? 10/31? We haven’t established if these are 2 or 3 weeks of tapings yet.

Ultimo Gladiador main events an Arena Lopez Mateos show! This one might draw better than the past ones.

Daga & Halloween probably aren’t going back to Japan with the belts, but it would be kind of awesome if they did. That should be a really good match, Halloween has good of land and this is the match Daga dreams about. Marvin and Crazy should be good for the occasion.

Super Fly! Exists! They needed more combinations of tecnicos to face the Infierno Rockers.

Segunda is rudas versus exoticos, a bit they haven’t done here in a while.

Opener should be really good too. Freelance earned another match here based on his Arena Naucalpan. He earned way more than that, but you’ve got to start with one. Segura & Cerbero have been good too. Astro de Plata seems to have either dropped out of IWRG or been relegated back to FILL shows, so this is a big chance for him too.
