AAA Mini Line - 03/21/09 (#878)
Recap: 03/26/09

Previously: Aerostar fell from a high place (wow, an actual replay the next week), Konnan was all over the place, the money was not. Vampiro gets angry, Arturo and Roldan have a near fight we're supposed to care about, Chessman “turns” on Mesias, which isn't as shocking as Chessman pinning Mesias clean (not shown.) Oh, yea, Charly Manson returned too.

Promo: Gran Apache gets off a bus at the arena (in pitch dark? When does the show start, 3 AM?), stop to pose for a picture, and gets attacked by Billy Boy. Eventually, Angel and Gato Eveready get off the buss and back Billy off. Gato Eveready has a traveling mask with a normal mouth opening, which is more interesting then the last five Konnan segments. Gran Apache starts to thank the guys for the save, but never gets to finish because Billy runs over and attacks him again. Security (or what passed for it) drags him away.

In Ring Promo: Konnan. I know, I'm shocked too. To help the poor heathens of (whatever they are), Konnan throws bread out into the crowd. Konnan calls out Nicho and Joe Lider. Crowd is quiet here. They're here to take out their target of the night, the guy on the cover of Dos de Tres (plug!), Charly Manson. They even get to keep the magazine, but that's somehow not enough to make the happy. Seems their checks haven't been cashing lately, which displeases them greatly – they won't be taking out Charly this week. Questions:

  1. Konnan paid them for the weeks where they got killed by Mesias? That's why you're broke!

  2. Why is Nicho wearing Joe Lider's coat? Does he know?

Konnan says the Roldans and Dr. Morales are taking the money. Nicho and Lider don't care, they just want to get paid. Konnan questions Joaquin's manhood, which gets him in the ring. Arturo has come in the ring here too. So does security, but Konnan tells them to back off, and gets everyone out but Roldan and Arturo, then sets up the second's hair vs second's hair match. Arturo keeps ranting, so Roldan throws bread in his face and – clip. I'm guessing we missed out on the world's worst pull apart brawl, because they're pulled apart by the time they go back in the ring. That's two straight weeks where we had a big in-ring bit clipped (for awfulness?)

Promo: TWO segments for Gran Apache this week. He's still thrown off by Billy Boy, but they can take care of Poder del Norte together.

Match 1: Tito Santana, Tigre Cota ©, Rio Bravo vs Gran Apache ©, el Angel, Gato Eveready
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: Tecnicos (by DQ)
Match Time: 10:37 (5:41+4:56)
Notes: No entrances or announcement of captains, though I'm taking the easy guess. Pepe Casas is ref.

Técnico showcase to start. Gran Apache is firs, then Angel is next. Angel is trying but not looking much better than last week – a headstanding into a backflip into a headscissors is a cool idea, but not at that speed. Angel is slow u but adds a 619, stands on the apron, then slowly slumps to the floor. I think everyone just assumes that's the scheduled end of his bit for a while, especially since Gato jumps in and just gets on going, but for me, it's one of those deals where I know Angel passed out a show but can't remember if it's this one. He disappears while Gato and Apache have their run, and the rudos just kinda kick Gran Apache enough to start their beatdown. Crowd isn't too into the match, though I'm starting to wonder if it's because of the outdoor baseball park setting more than anything. Break as they're bringing Angel in.

Angel's only in a short time, though there's a suspicious crowd shot in here. Gran Apache is next and takes corner charges, but the rudos go for it again, even into the tecnico corner. Gran Apache side steps Tiger Cot and traps him in the corner, then Angel is supposed to dive off the top to plancha Tito as he runs in, but he's slow climbing, and then just slightly somersaults forwards off the top rope. Tito is baffled, and luckily Gran Apache is there just to start slapping all the rudos to get them into it. Gato ditches Cota and then checks on Angel before helping clear out the rudos. Match grinds to a halt as they try stay away from where Angel is as the Doctor comes in to check on him. Angels' quickly scoops up and RUSHED to the back, the doctor hurrying with the security people. Apache goes on another mad slapping spree, this time accidentally getting Gato. Gato tries to redirect him to the rudos and retreats to the apron. Match again alts as Tigre Cota looks for a handshake, thought it feels more like a game “okay, now what do we do”. Go back to the opening segment armdrags and get a submission. Tiger Cota breaks that u, but looks occasionally lost with Gato, becoming the first man just to dropkick Gato as he hangs in the ropes (and yet ending up outside 10 seconds later as if he would with the normal fake.) Tito Santana comes in as Gato is trying to go for his dive, so Gato dropkick him out (and Tito can't seem to fall thru the ropes - not expecting that one?) Gato finally gets in his tornillo, and Tiger Cota and Gran Apache end up back in. Tiger tries to slam Gran Apache, but can't. Gran Apache can slam him. Gran Apache goes all the way out - moonsault, no one home, Gran Apache lands on his feet (!) and seats Tigre Cota. Lifted up, crucifix bomb. Gran Apache going up one more time, calling for the end Top rope senton con giro connects. That should be enough, but Cota crawls to the ropes for no particular reason - hey, Billy Boy's here with a chair, and that gets Gran Apache just in range for a chair shot. Tiger Cota covers for the pin. Don't know how Pepe Casas missed that.

Oh, he didn't – he raises apache's arm just as soon as Cota gets off of him. No problem, Poder del Norte stomp him and Billy Boy gives him one more chair shot to the head. Gato tries to get back in to help but is kept out, and Billy kicks Apache in the head as many times as possible.

Promo: Laredo Kid & Super Fly catch up with a distraught La Parka about the match. All Parka cares about getting revenge on Silver King, so he yells at the kids.

Promo: Backstage, Konnan (w/Silver King) tries convincing Joe Lider & Nicho to fight for him again. Since bribes aren't working, Konnan switches to threats about what will happen to them if they don't win and take out the tecnicos. They take off as Konnan tells Silver King to trust him, and keep an eye on Nicho & Lider

Match 2: Nicho, Joe Lider vs Super Fly, Laredo Kid
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: Hermandad
Match Time: 9:56 (7:50+2:06)
Notes: No entrances. Referee is Piero. Announcers are not getting along – Alfonso and Jesus each take Monito and go to the far ends of the tables so Arturo can't see them. He could, I dunno, look at the ring. In the ring, it's a tecnico showcase, though it starts with Lider and Laredo trying to do mirror spots. Everyone's doing tornillos this week – Laredo does an Asai one, Super Fly does a top rope one. Tecnicos actually bring the rudos in after the dives and try pins, though it only gets them two. Nicho starts the comeback by just beating up both guys by himself. What a cheater. No weapons this week. Tecnicos make a short comeback, then Super Fly almost gets dropped on his head when Super Fly tries to give him a forward flip side slam (or something – they took two different bumps, never a good sign.) Super Fly drops Joe Lider directly on his head with a inverted death valley driver, but Nicho breaks that pin up. Break.

Nicho gets his new fall off a front suplex, and Super Fly breaks that up. Nicho and Super Fly escape each other until Nicho clotheslines Super Fly up, and then it's time to set up chars on the floor. Nicho brings Super Fly to the apron and supelexs him – in the ring? Odd. Super Fly kicks him off the apron, with the idea that he's crotch himself on the chairs – not so much. Nicho lays over the chair, but avoid Super Fly's pescado. Laredo gets Super Fly down in the ring, but misses the twisting 450 splash. Lider's cristo bomb is good enough for three.

Silver King rushes the ring and tires to get the attention of Hermanad, but they want to stop the tecnicos instead. So Silver King does that – airplane spin powerbomb for Laredo, knees for Super Fly. Nicho and Lider are disinterested. I guess is to make sure everyone here knows Silver King's a rudo, since they won't have seen that yet. Nicho and Lider decide to set up a table on the outside, and Silver King lifts up Super Fly to throw him thru it, but he's cut off by La Parka's music. Nicho charges him and takes a chair shot up the head. Silver King prefers to run, and is far more successful.

WAVY CLIP!

Somehow, the rudos are now in control in the ring, but that lasts about five seconds before Parka hiptoss Lider over the top rope and into the set up table. Table splits in half, as Lider bounces off that. Parka calls Silver King out, but Silver Kings' too busy standing in the entrance way doing his best Wagner poses. Silver King opts to wait to fight later instead of now.

Video Package: Black Abyss vs Abismo Negro

Match 3: Black Abyss vs Abismo Negro
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: Black Abyss
Match Time: 5:04
Other Match Notes: Entrances. Hijo de Tirantes is referee. Black Abyss is wearing blue, as usual, Abismo is wearing black. Rudo jumps the tecnico as he comes in the ring. Abismo gets control back quick after, for a tope, and it's back and forth from there. Much more a straight wrestling match then the brawl you'd figure for this feud, with Hijo de Tirantes constantly working cheating Abismo Negro on counts. Abismo finally slapped him down when he broke up the martinete, which allowed Black Abyss to martinete him instead. Quick count 3 for the win.

Just of fun, Black Abyss uses the aerosol can to spray fire at Abismo after he's done – not once, but twice. Medical staff have another guy to pick up.

Backstage: Zorro, Teddy, Jack and Nikki (and like 3 cameraman) have their weekly discussion. HF2 again pledge total backing of Zorro. Zorro lets the guys go but has a word with Nikki – so he can hit on her? Huh. He chooses to do so in Spanish, so it's unclear Nikki has any idea what's going on.

Match 4: Jack Evans & Teddy Hart vs Crazy Boy, Ultimo Gladiador
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 9:35 (4:10+5:25)
Other Match Notes: HF2 finally realize Nikki isn't there when they make their entrance. She catches up to them on the way to the ring. Arturo tries to announce captains in this match before the others stop him. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Early clip in this match, but still, we're not 40 seconds in and Jack is doing a twisting moonsault on Ultimo Gladiador for a near fall. It's just moves, moves, moves form there, control randomly floating back and forth. The second half of the match is more normal beatdown then comeback, but it's still everyone doing whatever mot they can think of until they can't think of any more. UG gives Teddy a cradle piledriver, and Hijo de Tirantes ignores it, then gets distracts by Nikki. Nikki breaks up Crazy's attempt a double underhook piledriver, and teases hitting him, but Nikki ends up foiling him. Gladiador ignores her and superkicks Jack Evans, but Nikki pulls down up her top to distract Gladiador. Jack sneaks in a backslide for – uh, two. Yea, that's this match. The rudo and Arturo are sure it's three, and it's probably supposed to be three, but Hijo de Tirantes decided to do a legit count and Jack couldn't hold the bridge. Jack hits gets back up from selling the match, whips UG into a standing spin kick, and adds a standing twisting moonsault senton. For the finish. No reaction to the pinfall. That did not end well, and it's mostly Hijo de Tirantes fault for not counting fast enough

Just to add to the comedy, Ultimo Gladiador is back up and fine with in ten seconds to argue with Nikki. UG grabs a hold of her, but Hijo de Tirantes breaks it up, and Teddy gets in his double underhook Canadian Destroyer. Teddy grabs his head after doing the move. Replay of the backslide is shown as if its' the finish – Hijo de Tirantes appears to count 1, then stops, then counts 1,2 and Jack lets go because he figures that's 3. Totally on the ref there.

Recap: Silver King's turn.

Match 5: Silver King vs La Parka Jr.
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: DCO
Match Time: 10:38
Other Match Notes: La Parka is so angry, he doesn't have his heart into dancing tonight and does a lame job of it. Or at leas that's how I'm reading that performance. Nicho is out with Silver King – so is a fan, who get to stand right next to Silver King as he poses, before security catches up to him. I guess Lider is selling the table bit? That doesn't sound like him. Silver King looks very Gladiador-ish. Piero is ref, and the match seems to start with a bunch of clips, picking up with Parka down and being worked over. Piero gets whipped out about a minute after they pick up. He tried to help Silver King a little bit, and ended up taking a senton. Piero rolls out to recover, but Nicho decides to stand outside and yell from there instead of coming in and helping. Parka and Silver king work it like normal for a while, Silver King actually dropkick Nicho when eh tires to get Parka, and Parka topes Nicho when he tries to hit Silver King. Poor Nicho. He's not even getting paid for this! Silver King bangs Parka's head into the light stand a bunch, and Parka comes out bleeding. Silver King takes someone sign's – ah, it just happened to say Parka is #1, what are the odds. Piero's is back up and find, so that ref bump when nowhere. Silver King works over Parka as they go to break.

More mostly Silver King control. Nicho distracts Piero so Silver Kin can get in a low bow, but Parka stops his hand from coming down a third time. 2 on a dragon screw. Nicho throws in a chair, and Silver King hits Parka right in the head. Piero will allow it. One again, to the forehead, but Parka fires up. Too bad, Silver King hits him again, and down he goes. One two Parka kicks out. Crowd not rallying as loud as you'd expect for such a heroic performance, but then it's more than what they've been getting all night. Parka goes out, so Silver King can accidentally hit Nicho again. Parka rallies, throws Silver King in the crowd, waits for Nicho to walk over to the same place to clothesline him over, and barely clears the barricade, jumping over onto the rudos. Piero starts counting very loud, so we're thankfully close to be doing. This is a brawl I can see some people getting into, but it's not working for me on this night.

Crowd starts enough parka chant as he gets counted out. Doesn't stop Silver King from beating him again, getting stopped, beating him again, getting stopped, and so on until break.

Recap: Vampiro, losing his mind and Charly returning.

Promo: Konnan! It's been so long. He and Electro discuss the finical situation. Konnan's a lot more confident things will work out than Electro. Or Kenzo, who's out of here until he gets paid. Konnan tells Electro to spread the word – they do what he says or they pay the consequences. Plus, he wants Electro to take out Charly and yells at the corner about the tecnicos.

Match 6: Electroshock ©, Konnan, Zorro vs Charly Manson ©, X-Pac, Latin Lover
Parque de Beisbol de Celaya, Guanajuato, 02/18/09

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:53 (5:34+4:19)
Other Match Notes: Staggered entrances. Charly gets grabbed by so many kids who've jumped the rail, I think he stats running to the ring just to get to safety. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Did Pepe Casas just work the opener?

Story of the match was Charly not wrestling. He didn't get a turn in the opening tecnico showcase, and the rudos kept him on the apron (not even knocking him off the apron, just having Hijo de Tirantes keeping him there) while working over the other two. Beatdown is not too interesting. Zorro ends up hitting both his partners instead of the tecnicos, then bounces the cane off the corner trying to hit Latin and hits himself. Charly finally gets tagged in, and has to wait for someone to get up. Clothesline for everyone. He actually pulls of a belly to bely suplex on Electroshock, and leaves his feet for a jumping clothesline on Konnan. He's still limping around when eh walks around. Charly retrieves Zorro's cane and hands it off to X-Pac. Zorro begs off, and Jack and Teddy run into revive their cane shot to the head. They've got to try something else next week. X-Pac stops to celebrate, which gives the rudos a moment to attack. Konnan gets knocked out of the ring, Zorro goes for a Bronco Buster on X-Pac, but Charly cuts hi off. And waits, and waits – he's waiting for Electro to come over, but Latin has to stop punching first. Finally Electro gets control, charges, and Charly takes him down and puts on the inverted figure four. That's it.

Charly teases hitting Hijo de Tirantes, but he escapes while Charly goes for the cane. Smoke machine goes wild celebrating the win (I guess?), and the rudos all rant to the announcers. That's it.
