AAA - 01/17/09 (#867)
Recapped: 01/17/09

Jesus Z welcomes us to AAA offices. Which, of course, are not the ones the Legion has been using. Oh my gosh, they DID air a best of, Accion has been faking me out by airing new matches.

GdT 2007: Cibernetico beats Zorro, but Mesias sets him on fire to win the title. Which is 2007, not 2008.

Chilpancingo 2007: Psycho Circus debut win, Air Force destroyed. Well, that might as well be a 2008 recap.

Chilpancingo 2007: Legion beat up Mesias and the Sect, and this doesn't really go anywhere. Hey, look, Head Hunter I. This works well with Mesias feuding with the Legion now, works bad with the Sect teaming with Legion. Oh, yes, their big plan to take out La Parka Jr., Mesias, and Cibernetico. Kinda didn't get to that last one.

Guanajuato 2008: Vipers break up with Abismo Negro. Hey, Mr. Niebla. Talk about angles that never went anywhere. This was the taping where it rained, too. Or even IS raining, I notice.

Queretaro 02/15: Cibernetico's return. He's only been gone like 15 minutes. Wait, why does Abismo get clotheslined here?

Queretaro 02/15: Clowns win again. Hey, Mascara Divina. In line for a big push in 2008, I heard.

Queretaro 02/15: Cage match qualifiers for Rey de Reyes. Scorpio and Decnnis, that worked out well for them.

Minatitlan 02/23: Bull terrier match on the All The Captains Advance match show. Konnan wrestling in a t-shirt. Intocable! Alicia without X-Pac. A rare Zorro triumphant moment here.

Orizaba 03/01: Porky escapes the dome to make the cage match. Took a lot of help. Maybe this is why they didn't use the dome for the most recent cage match.

Orizaba 03/01: No subtitle? Oh, it's Cibernetico returning again. Hey, Ron Killings. Hey, everyone taking bug stunner bumps. I think Killings got out without taking anything while Zorro gets beat up again. Oh, no, he snuck out, though they miss it.

SLP 03/05: Glow in the Dark match to get  into Rey de Ryes. Or, as I still like to think about it, the one where Gronda get clotheslines and disappeared for twenty minutes. Also, Abismo and Psicosis not arguing until they almost had the match won, then it's Abismo (the tecnico!) breaking up the pin. DUMB.

SLP 03/05: no subtitle, but it's Mesias and Ciber teasing a match while Zorro stands nearby.

Texcoco 03/09: Super Fly and Billy Boy get in Rey de Ryes via triangle tag match. Super Calo! This may have been the last good looking outfit Billy Boy wore this year. This is also the one with the random fill in announcers.

Rey de Reyes 03/16: Mr. Niebla advances, and we're at the part of the year where Elegido doesn't get censored. Alan upsets Pirata Morgan, who was the better man on this day. Abismo overcomes Super Porky. Zorro vultures a victory over Billy and Super Fly.

Rey de Reyes 03/16: and the finals. Niebla and Anismo eliminate each other in a super fast count out. Alan's highlight of the the year is being second here. Which is not too far off form Zorro's highlight. Well, Zorro was hilarious a lot too, there's that. Rey de Reyes was the booking peak of the year, pretty clearly.

Rey de Reyes 03/16: $250,000 ladder match. I want to go "oh, I take that back", but even the story here led to something good. They can't help the match. Halloween! I worry about Halloween when ewe don' hear about him for a while.

Rey de Reyes 03/16: And Cibernetico's revenge. I like how Chessman and Ozz had to take the fire spot this time. Not going to risk that on the top guys. This match is wisely cut down to just that spot and the finish, and the non burning of Mesias which also laid the seeds of Chessman's turn.

Torreon 04/05: Enter, the Hart Foundation II. Has it been 8 months since Jack Evans stole our Heart and Teddy Hart did a move on his list? Highlight here is Kenzo selling Jack's flips., and Juvi doing his best not to be impressed. Hey, Juvi! The early HF2 matches are the best, just for Arturo marking out. I'm thinking Arturo Rivera is not getting many ROH DVDs.

Toluca 04/10: Black Abyss debut, when everyone in the building believed he was the real Abismo Negro. The creative zenith of this company was totally march and April. Hot Toluca crows do not hurt. Abismo really screwed them over by losing his mind.

Celaya 04/16: return of La Parka.

Guadalajara 04/27: Clowns beat up the Air Force. Seen it.

Guadalajara 04/27: Zorro wins a title shot at Cibernetico by beating Cibernetico in a three way cage match.

Aguascalientes 04/30: skipping his turn, we go to Lider confronting the MPs later on. FdT make the save, only to be turned on by the returning Nicho and the start of Hermandad. TJ Extreme! The old Hermandad music! Nicho's yellow shirt! The fond memories I'd have of this if it didn't produce so many horrible, life draining matches.

Veracruz 05/02: the final match of the Hell Brothers, not that we know at the time. Charly would be hurt soon after, and things have changed since. Well, not everything - Sect still getting beat.

Leon 05/19: Vampiro returns to waste our time with Mesias.

Leon 05/19: Hermandad debut X-Fly. This is the biggest stretch of Best Of yet. Also, X-Fly!

Morelia 05/25: Fabi beats Mari to win Reina de Reinas. No. Ayako in this clip. I can only imagine what Reina de Reinas will look like this year with other connections, if they'll even do one. Also, the Apaches (and women) have now had the same amount of clips as X-Fly.

Merida 06/01: "Vampiro vs Mesias" which out to be Chessman vs Mesias, but who's counting.

Merida 06/01: lots of Roldan and Konnan talking, and Konan getting laid out with a chair.

TripleMania: Mari vs Fabi. And the post match. On one hand, it took six months for Billy to do the slow burn from this bit of staring after the match. On the other hand, it's because they forgot about it for six months.

TripleMania: Vampiro vs Mesias in a street fight, try 1.

TripleMania: Brazo joins the Guapos. Look, Zumbido! I like how the Guapos rented a limo and put on tuxedos just to ambushed Porky after his match.

TripleMania: Cibernetico holds onto the title, broken nose for someone else.

And next week, more.
