AAA - 01/03/09 (#865)
Recap: 01/05ish/09

Vignette: Zorro's counting the money. What a festive graphic. I think Zorro is splitting up the money between himself and AAA. Zorro fakes a phone conversation when Electroshock comes in. Electro needs some money for it, so Zorro just gives him a pile. Here, have another stack. I guess the idea is Zorro is crazily giving away money.

Vignette: Gran Apache and Fabi Apache are getting ready for their match. Billy Boy wanders in, but Fabi wants nothing to do with him and shoos him away. We are now to the point where Gran Apache likes Billy Boy more than Fabi, okay.

Match 1: Cinthia Moreno & Oriental vs Fabi Apache & Gran Apache for the AAA Mixed Tag Championship
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 12/06/08

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 6:06
Notes: Not only was this match not advertised, it doesn't even make the show opening preview (though they do show clips.) Is Oriental wearing a girdle? Fabi seems not to be digging the gigantic headdress Gran Apache got for her. Break before the match. Piero is referee.

Morenos want handshakes. Gran Apache accepts, Fabi slaps Oriental's hand away. Apache and Oriental shake. And things go clip crazy from here, with Oriental messing with Fabi in the middle of it, then the Morenos running wild with dropkicks for both Apaches. Cinthia gets Fabi with an apron tope con giro, and Oriental drops on Gran Apache with his moonsault to the floor. Beatdown on Apaches after replays, including Cinthia getting Fabi in an Indian Deathlock and giving Gran Apache a Northern Lights suplex at the same time. Apache escape that to get slapped around and yells a lot. Bridging reverse facelock/dropkick to the face combo. Cinthia grabs Fabi to work over her, but Oriental gets slapped down by Gran Apache, and Gran Apache manages to kick the right woman. Oriental is slapped out of the ring. , and apache gets him with a plancha, kinda missed by the camera. Not shown well, for sure. Cinthia gets Fabi with a top rope plancha, shoulderblock, off the ropes, no, Gran Apache pulls her out. Gran Apache goes out to grabs the Morenos, Fabi gets part of the pile with an Asai Moonsault. Looks like Cinthia got away. After replays, Gran Apache in, but taking a spinning headscissors from Cinthia. Armdrag sends Gran Apache to the corner, Apache's clotheslines misses, Cinthia blocks and spins him on the kick, Cinthia's punch is blocked, and Gran Apache gives her the big kiss. Cinthia is taken back about that, giving me a moment to note how she's well camouflaged (permanent?) shoulder harness. Oriental in to stick for her sister, and send Gran Apache out with a spinning armdrags. Fabi in, they go thru the same sequence as Cinthia and Gran Apache, Fabi realizes and bends down to cover up, and Oriental kicks her in the backside. Fabi charges again, Oriental blocks her punch, and Oriental gives her a worse looking kiss. Gran Apache in, Oriental with a 'rana, Apache rolls thru, Oriental rolls back, Apache reverses that one two no. Apache screams for a faster count. Clip? Gran Apache is picked by Oriental, but knocks him down with one punch. Headed up - headed down, things to Cinthia shaking the ropes. Fabi tips her off the apron and they fight on the floor as Oriental goes up - headstand splash eats knees. Gran Apache up and hurrying - crucifix powerbomb gets reverse into a 'rana one two Fabi breaks it up. Gran Apache grabs Cinthia as she charges him, Fabi tries to kick her rival, and it's not this match until someone hits their partner, so Fabi kicks Gran Apache. Cinthia follows him out with a plancha. Fabi has Oriental down in the ring and goes for the double underhooks suplex to finish, but Oriental gets free, grabs Fabi, hammers her in the back, lifts her on to his shoulders, and crushers her with a Michinoku Driver.

Oriental checks on Fabi immediately and both he and Cinthia seem more concerned than normally taunting. That was heck of an impact on that move. There's probably a clip in here, because the doctor is in and checking on Fabi's immediately, especially her left arm. Replay - Fabi wasn't spiked, but she was in pain as soon as the move hit. As the champs leave, Billy Boy comes out to check on Fabi and help her out. Once again, she shoves him away, and this time she slaps him. Time to walk away. Billy Boy picks the other route, scoop Fabi up and slamming her to the mat before stomping her into the mat and dragging her around by hair. Gran Apache was looking the other way, but is away now and chases Billy Boy around the ring with a chair. That's pretty clearly a rudo turn and maybe the end of this.

Recap: D-Mex and a little bit about the Sect

Vignette: Zorro congratulates the Set on joining the Legion, but Ozz says they haven't decided on joining yet. Sure looks like they joined last week. Maybe Zorro isn't the crazy one.

Match 2: Ozz (c), Cuevo, Scoria vs X-Pac (c), Rocky Romero, Alex Koslov
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 12/06/08

Winner: D-Mex
Match Time: 5:13
Notes: Rocky is wearing his Grey Shadow mask. Quick (clipped?) entrances all around today. Piero is ref. Busy man!

Sect jump the tecnicos before the whistle. Kinda; D-Mex just stop selling after a few seconds for no discernibly reason, and it's people hitting back and forth until the Sect decides to sell. Then they get in a cheap shot. Hey, Prez. Roldan has a ticket, in the front row. What are the odds. There's a clip in here, probably. Rocky's whipped in the corner, Alex is whipped into him, Rocky backdrops his partner to freedom and takes care of the rest on his own. Alex's springboard forearm still looks good. Cuervo set up in the corner for the Bronco Buster, which they don't feet comfortable showing his week. Alex throws a chair at Cuervo before a clip. And then we get another 3 seconds before another clip. Rocky and Scoria have a chop battle while sitting on the second rope, to set up a Romero springboard headscissors. Rocky misses a a enziguri to hit a spinning he heel kick. Clip? Alex and Ozz. Ozz wants a handshake and Alex is ready to take it until Ozz turns away. Ozz off the ropes, Alex drops down, Ozz kicks him in the ribs, loudly. Whip, Alex does the CMLL flipping run, Ozz waved by, over, under, over, under, STOP SIGN. Most of the crowd has no idea what he's doing, sadly. Crotch chops. Ozz charges, Alex ducks his clothesline and gets him with a jumping enziguri. HAT. HAT DANCE. Scoria tries to break it it up and gets his head taken off with a superkick. Cuervo coming on? Cuervo coming in and getting and thrown out. X-Pac in? X-Pac running for a dive? X-Pac tope con giro! That was unexpected. It's like those 1991 Observers I'm reading come to life right there. Ozz on, Ozz missing a dropkick to take himself out, and Alex follows with a springboard plancha. Scoria and Rocky left in, Rocky sort catches himself in the ropes to cause Scoria to throw himself out, and running tope knocks them both into the rail. Hey, Rocky actually has D-Mex tights. Ha, they almost got Roldan with the dive. Ozz and X-Pac in, and Ozz hits the guy with neck problems right in the head with a chair. Ozz is very happy with himself and the chair, showing it the crowd. And not paying any attention to Alex, who missile dropkicks it into him and covers for the win.

Rudos are all over the tecnicos post match. Powerbomb for Rocky. Chair shot to Alex's head, just as they go to break.

Beatdown continues as Zorro's music plays. Between him and Billy, I suspect Konnan dropped the ban on people who aren't scheduled to wrestle showing up. Ozz has a table, I guess that might be important. Zorro lights up X-Pac with the cane as the perennial henchman set up the table. Rocky is duck tapped to the ropes. Zorro beats up X-Pac with the cane more - he's bleeding now, wow. Alex fed to Ozz, sitting on the top rope, and Ozz powerbombs him thru the table. Konnan now out for the glory, though I guess he's just trying to hold X-Pac for more can shots. I think he's dead, but he's a pretty bloody dead. More stomps for fun. I can't believe they couldn't' think of a move to kill Rocky! They could think of something or Konnan to say here, so he does. Doesn't take long for him to get to Roldan, ordering him out of the building. Roldan turns his back on Konnan. Replays. X-Pac gets stretchered out.

Wow, this is one long break.

Video Package: Latin Lover/Konnan. Plenty of Vampiro and Roldan too.

Match 3: Konnan vs Latin Lover
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 12/06/08

Winner: Latin Lover
Match Time: 6:17
Other Match Notes: And so, the good portion of the show has ended. No offense, Latin. Teddy and Jack are here with Konnan, presumably to take the bumps. Hijo de Tirantes is referee. Oh, wait, I think Vampiro is here to say something about this. Konnan gets to talk first - Vampiro can come back to get autographs later, basically. Arturo Rivera is also out too be a second of Konnan. Vampiro's bit seems to be way cut down, or I totally missed the point. But he'll be Latin's second.  Break before this gets started.

Latin socks Konan when we're looking the wrong way, knocking him down to the mat. Jack and Teddy are immediately in and working over Latin. Double clothesline misses, and Latin kicks Jack, enziguris Teddy, and flips Jack with a clothesline (which doesn't even need to hit him) Konan is kicked, stomped and rolled out without putting up much of a fight. Latin brings him back in for more. Punches directly to the side of the face. Latin off the ropes - and tripped up by Arturo Rivera. Konnan is on Latin and stomping. Crowd shot - clip? Arturo and Vampiro have words as Latin is set up in front of a ringpost. Jack is whipped at him, but Latin steps forward and tosses Jack into the post before cleaning house on the other two. Konnan is knocked over the barricaded into the crowd, and Latin beats him across the floor and up the stairs, directly into a clip. Latin stops beating Konnan up the stairs long enough to flip Teddy with a clothesline, and pound Jack on the way to the steps. Best part is the girl who climbed up the light standard to get out of the way and get a better look.

Thru the magic of editing, Latin is not yet to the ring, but Konnan (who was far behind Latin last we saw) and Vampiro are in the middle of it. Vampiro is calling for the chokeslam, but stops to take off his jacket. Goozle - no, Konnan fouls him. DDT for Vamp. That doesn't seem like a good move for someone with head issues. (Vamp sells his head and neck the rest of the match.) One edit later, Jack and Teddy give Latin a double suplex, then take turns flipping off Latin and landing on him - moonsault and twisting senton. Konnan covers, but only gets two. Hijo de Tirantes seems annoyed that's only 2. I don't know when he turned full fledged rudo, but apparently he forgot to talk to his dad about it, because Tirantes Sr. might have informed him he can count faster now. Jack scoops up Latin, and (safely) slams him down for Jack to finish. Top rope 630 senton comes up empty, Latin for sure wasn't taking that. Teddy helpfully just stands around and watches as Latin sweeps Jack out of the ring, then runs into a backdrop to take himself out. Latin looks at the pile on the outside - maybe you should attack Konnan? No, slingshot tornillo! Absurd he'd be doing it, but works. Arturo gets in Latin's face, but Vampiro's recovered enough to shove him away. Clip? Arturo shoves Latin as he makes his way to the ring, but Latin turns around and threatens violence for him. Now, why is Piero walking here? Oh, just to check on Vampiro's and his neck, I guess. Konnan gets out of the ring, walks over to Vampiro and Piero, and punches Piero in the face for no reason. Piero didn't do anything but walk out and got knocked out. The idea appears to be to prevent a tecnico referee from getting involved, but since Hijo de Tirantes is still standing I don't think that's an issue at the moment. Konan works over Vampiro - getting more on him then he's got on Latin. In the ring, Latin teases beating up Arturo, but Konnan knocks him down from behind. Konnan and Hijo de Tirantes to point at someone behind the camera and yells a bit, but I don't know. Konnan gets thrown something by Jack. Knucks? It's not  really clear (yet.) A chair is set up in the corner (almost not really shown), Konan whips Latin in, Latin reveres it, and Konnan goes head first. Vampiro's made in the ring, just in time to get kicked around by HF2. Now we see that it was kicks, no that it matters because Konnan dropped them before using them. HF2 charge Latin, and see who can flip better taking a clothesline. Hijo de Tirantes randomly goes after Latin, misses a clothesline, and takes a backbreaker. Clip? Vampiro's gone to the back as Latin finally punches Arturo Rivera. Hijo de Tirantes and Latin shove each other as Vampiro helps Pepe Casas walk to the ring. Latin's doing fine on his own - punch for Hijo de Tirantes lays him out (quite the bump) and one punch for Konnan KOs him. Latin covers just as Pepe Casas comes in, and Pepe Casas speed counts three. Despite my apathy, crowd does go bonkers for the finish.

Roldan jumps the rail to celebrate, which would seem to be in violation of the rules. Maybe not on an AAA show. Oh, Latin got the knucks at the end, that's going to be their explanation for his sudden massive knockout power.  Roldan joins the tecnicos to celebrate in the ring. Konnan recovers from being knocked out to Cut Another Promo (!! - he's a machine!), pointing out how Roldan's trespassing (and hilariously scolding Teddy for throwing things.) Roldan gets handcuffed by armed security this time and taken out. Latin get handcuffed and led out too, though I have no idea why. Konnan makes it clear to Vampiro (and us) that he's still won.

Vignette: six way cage match. Nice use of the unmasked Elegido bit to tease that as a finish. I believe Super Porky thinks he's going to fly out of the cage. That sounds as reasonable as any finish I can come up with.

Match 4: Electroshock vs Pirata Morgan vs El Brazo vs Elegido vs Super Fly vs Super Porky in a cage match, loser loses hair or mask
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 12/06/08

Loser: El Brazo
Match Time: 8:19
Other Match Notes: Elegido enters first, then goes after Pirata Morgan as he enters second. Super Fly is next out and not in a specific hurry., though eh does help out his tecnico friend. You wouldn't know Super Fly was piledriven on his head last week, because he's acting completely normal. Brazo is wearing a pink version of his mask briefly on the way to the ring. Only Guaptio is out with him. Porky is wearing his gear from last week - I guess no more jumpsuit?

Clip? Guapito is on the outside of the cage, but Arturo announces him as one of the participants. Rudos controlled slow brawling. They star taking turns doing spots. Brazo runs into most of Porky's stuff before Electro take out Porky. Super fly gets in his clips, but gets superkicked by Electro before actually making contact on anything. He still can escape well! Spinning backbreaker by Super Fly looks really bad but I guess he's not use to the offense so it's fair enough. They do the bit where Super Fly covers electro  and Brazo tries to break it up and elbow drops his partner, and so on until all the rudos are together, but why is Super Fly trying to cover someone in a cage match? Porky gets helped to the top rope by Elegido, and splashes the whole bunch.

Clip. Everyone's down, and porky and Brazo are bleeding. Now it's the everyone puts on a headscissors bit. Electro is last, thinks about it putting his own on the end, but Elegido fights him off. So Elector goes the other way, grabs Porky's legs, starts swinging back and forth for momentum, and turns over all five for a giant half crab. That's not quite a rudo spot but it is fun. Elegido lets go of his hold to break up Electro's. With everyone recovering, Super Fly bolts up the cage, over the cage, but them back up to the top of it for - a break.

Right where we left off. Super Fly waits, stands , and gets Electro with at op rope tope con giro. It connects, so that's two. Infinitely more the an other other matches. Elegido tries climb up, but Pirata grabs him by his legs.  - and his trunks, which cause his backside to get awfully blurry on our screens. That was inevitable. Pirata pulls Elegido down and climbs up himself, getting stopped at the last second by Elegido but able to fight him off. Pirata ain't diving, he's out of here,

Electro is the only one standing, working over Super Fly, then kicking around Super Porky. Slam on Super Porky. Elegido's fired up from that one, so he's getting out of there - except he slips on the way up. Perhaps they should've edited that on. Elegido tries to grab Electro, but fails just as bad that time, and Electro escapes.

While he's still on top, Brazo shoulderblocks Super Fly down. Super Fly pops up, and speeds up the cage, actually getting all the way over faster than Electro (who just hung on top for a while and climbs much slower.)

Elegido is not happy when he realizes Super Fly's bailed on him and Porky. Porky tells Elegido to slam Brazo for an Super Porky splash, but Elegido spends so much time setting it up, he misses Porky climbing all the way over. Super Fly climbs up the cage to help Porky climb down, but he's having no problem until Super Fly actually helps him. Super Fly's help causes Porky to lose his footing, and both slide down the side of the cage and hit to the floor hard. Super Porky is immediately checked out and looks out of it, but Super Fly seems okay.

That part is obvious, because he, Guapito and Pirata Morgan climb up the cage, meeting Elegido as he goes over. Super Fly tries to stop the rudos but slips and falls down, and Elegido just chucks Guapito onto Brazo. Pirata and Elegido sit on top of the cage and punch and headbutt until Pirata relents and climbs down. Elegido turns to climb down

...which actually leaves Guapito and Brazo left in the cage. Brazo decides he's going to kill his little partner to save himself, and chases him around the ring. Guapito manages to get in a low blow headbutt, climb the cage, and gets helped over by Guapito. HUG? That's it., even though they're still sitting on top. Really, Guapito should get credit for the win, except Guapito actually climbs down the cage first (because Elegido si helping him keep his balance.) Porky's recovered enough to greet both on their way down.

Tecnicos celebrate as Brazo wanders around the ring until someone finally comes in to shave him. He's not happy with that, but relents. Pirata and Elegido fight for about five seconds on the outside, until Pirata fouls him to end that for the rime being. After teh haircut is over, Porky points and laughs heartily.

Replays and it's over.
