AAA Mini Line - 12/20/08 (#865)
Recapped: 12/27/08

Recap: DX vs Foreign Legion, dancing was banned, and Vampiro is the Super Commissioner.

Vignette: Konnan assigns front office jobs to the Legions guys that they won't actually have. Teddy, Jack and Kenzo are in charge of the programming, so blame them!

Match 1: Tiger Cota (c), Tito Santana II, Rio Bravo vs Gran Apache (c), Billy Boy, Gato Eveready
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 11/17/08

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 6:32
Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Only the captains are introduces, so it's a quiz to remember who's in Poder del Norte. (I couldn't remember Rio Bravo for some reason.) In a candidate for worse edit ever, they go to a shot to the crowd while announcing Gran Apache as captain and, before they even finish saying his name, the match is way in progress. They keep using the prematch sound, even the pre-match whistle, as if they're actually hiding this clip. No, they're not. (Little did I know at this time, that's now the standard practice for most matches.)

Billy has a big tope on Santana. Santana has the brown hair, Cota has the black hair, and Rio Bravo is masked. Rudos take control with the Hijo del Averno double rebound hiptoss splash. 3D on Gato. More badly edits during the beatdown. It seems like they're cutting out the spaces in between moves, and then we get a long lingering look at the ring where nothing is going on. Gran Apache starts to the comeback at 2:30, so that's what this is. Poder Norte is good and might have made a name for themselves in the AAA of 2 or 3 years ago. Apache's team gets their own 3 on 1 beatdown. Odd Tiger Cota running the ropes with no one chasing him bit, which ends with Tigre Cota crawling towards the ropes for no reason and being stopped by Gran Apache. Cota gets dropped in position and takes an Apache tope con giro. It with no rudos around, Tecnicos talk amongst themselves, and Gran Apache and Billy Boy tentatively agree to a handshake, only for Tiger Cota to knock them into each other. Cota and Gato spar, leading to Gato's tornillo. Billy has a good powerbomb on Tito, Tito throws Billy high on a backdrop. Dropkick sends Billy out, and Tito's slingshot top con giro is good. Both get up to catch Tiger Coat's plancha. Will Gran Apache dive? No, Hijo de Tirantes is telling him no. Everyone also decides to just move out of the way of his potential dive, so Apache goes to the corner and does a crazy tope con giro from there. Gato and Tiger back in, Gato gets a nice flipping neckbreaker one two three. Hot finish.

Flashback Vignette: Roldan makes Vampiro the commission, with total immunity That's going around.

Hey, remember the guys who just had that match? They're going to be killed right now just so the Foreign Legion can kill someone. Poder Norte goes down at first, and tecnicos dumbly stick around and watch, which gets them killed as well. At least they got to finish the match? Billy Boy seems to disappear during this and take no offense, so points for him. We've got Jack, Teddy, Nikki, Kenzo, Zorro, Elector and Konnan, who's holding the belt on his shoulder. Konnan taunts Marcela Pena (who seats seem to be immune to the power switch.) No dancing, Pepe Casas, and the Stones are fired. No more dancers in this ring, Konnan yells.

Obviously, this is Latin Lover's cue. He hits the ring and starts dancing, and the Legion just lets him. Konnan is telling them not to hit Latin, at least, so there's a reason. If the fans want Latin to dance, Latin is going to dance. They appear to want him to dance. Konnan overrules the fans and fires Latin Lover. Prez. Roldan still has his music and entrance despite not being president, which Konnan equally questions. Roldan is there to explain Vampiro, who's next out to explain somehow he controls AAA over Konnan. Vampiro rehires Latin Lover and lifts the dancing banning. This is clipped up. Konnan is sweating a whole lot.

Vignette: Continuing the one from before, the Legion arrive at AAA's office, only to find everything has been shredded or removed.

Vignette: Pepe Casas tries to get in the building, but Konnan has security blocking him. He's fired, you see. Pepe Casas backs off. Bet he could get a job with CMLL.

Match 2: Jack Evans, Teddy Hart vs Aerostar, Angel
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 11/17/08

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 6:16
Notes: Again, they use the pre-match sound over the match already in progress to pretend we're seeing the start of the match. Piero is ref.

Jack takes a crazy bump threw the ropes to the floor on a dropkick, and then kinda gets deflected by Aero's plancha. Clip. Jack's moonsault off Teddy's shoulder stomp takes a lot of effort to setup for the impact. Teddy's bodyslam onto the top turnbuckle is nearly as much. Angel dropkicks Jack off the top rope and follows with a plancha to the floor to stop the Legion run, about a minute after it started. Aero gets Teddy with a standing 619 and a silla, to little reaction. Dropkick sends Teddy out, and Aero follows with the no hands tope. Angel and Jack back in, Jack flips out of fireman's carry, escapes a waistlock, but runs into a boot and gets loaded back onto Angel's shoulders. Headcrusher, Angel up top, frog slash, one two Teddy breaks it up. Teddy double underhook Canadian Destroyer (check), and Angel rolls out. Teddy follows him out with an Asai Moonsault, and they two almost fall onto Aerostar, who's still down after his dive and being checked on by the doctor (who does gets hit). There's six sides to this ring, maybe they could've picked one of the other five. Maybe seems to come unglued for a second, but Jack pulls Angel in, gives him a spinning kick, then goes to the top - only for Angel to crotch him. Angel kiosks Jack, gives him with a running forearm and tries to superplex him out, only to get font suplexes. Jack makes a turn over motion, Angel does, Jack 540 senton, one two three.

Aerostar gets stretched out. You mean diving at someone with your head unprotected might be a bad idea? Huh. Replay of the dive shows Teddy did all he could to catch the man, but he was going so far, he went thru Teddy and ended up landing on to the top of his head by the barricade. And that's all we got for this segment.

Noti AAA
- AAA 'stars' were on a float for the sports parade
- Konnan fired Tropicasas. Not too late to ref that match with all three of his sons

and that's all there is for this segment.

Vignette: Zorro still wants to win the title in the ring. Zorro and Konnan recap DMEX and the Latin Lover bits.

Vignette: Mexican Powers plan not to lose this team. Oriental has a Mexican Powers colored masks, but the MPs don't seem to like him. Maybe because he keeps slapping them on the chest.

Match 3: X-Pac, Alex Koslov, Rocky Romero vs Crazy Boy, Oriental, Ultimo Gladiador
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 11/17/08

Winner: DMEX
Match Time: 10:04
Other Match Notes: JIP. Piero is ref again.

Quiet crowd. Announcers are totally amused by Alex's dance. After a cycle thru of everyone getting to do a move, DMEX get their run (mostly Rocky and Alex tandem offense), then Rocky feeds himself into a Crazy Boy DDT so they can get their offense. I'm right, Degeneration Mex are supposed to be tecnicos, correct? It's so weird they debut them against other tecnicos, because they come off rudoish. Lots of clipping her, par with the other matches. It surely is worse for us (or US) because the length is shorter here, but I could go with eliminating a half out of the show (maybe the last) rather than all the micro-cuts they seem to be doing. Dive spots are not as good as the ones we've had in the last couple matches, though Alex gets in a couple springboard planchas/forearms that look good here. Rocky hits the ropes thru on a tope. X-Pac and Crazy Boy end up in the room, and Crazy gently gives X-Pac a chair shot to the head. Crowd chants for Mexico. Crazysault misses, kick, X-Factor on the chair (chair in right spot and nicely done - gotta give credit) one two three.

After a break, the Legion (Zorro, Kenzo and Rellik) stroll out to attack DMEX as head to the crowd. DMEX hurry over the barricade, only to be cut off by Teddy, Jack and Nikki. Camera doesn't really get it, but it's pretty well done. La Parka Jr. leads Super Fly and Angel out to clear the ring, though Rellik has no idea and gets a chair shot to the back. Rellik supermans up, kinda get a double missile dropkick from the highfliers. Angel pescados him, Rellik catches Angel, and Super Fly knocks over the pile with a tope. That's kind of offense! (Even if it took two to beat him.) Tecnicos and DMEX are friends (so that answers that!)

Recap: Recent storylines recap - they're still hyping Guerra de Titanes as a nigh to champions.

Vignette: Remember the two vignettes we saw before with the Legion? See them again. Time management! the punch line is a mini and DX spray paint, which Konnan looks at three times before realizing it. Konnan still sends the guys to work, which makes them sad.

Recap: that dang cage match again, this time focusing on Latin Lover. There are  vignettes with both of the teams shown in clips here which were never aired, as far as I can recall.

Match 4: Zorro vs Latin Lover
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 11/17/08

Winner: Zorro
Match Time: 6:12
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Konnan, out to be Zorro's second, informs Hijo de Tirantes that this is now a no disqualification match and he (Hijo de Tirantes) should remember who he works for.

Zorro again opens the match by throw the cane at his opponent, this time getting Latin on the left foot. TOE HOLD. Sadly, this does not work. Latin and Zorro avoid each other off the ropes for a bit, Latin eventually gets a kick to the back of he head. Half crab. Kenzo comes back in the ring and breaks it up. I guess we're supposed to be mad at Hijo de Tirantes for not calling the DQ (except he never does) and Konnan for blatant inference (except he does so every match.) Fallaway slam by Zorro. Zorro taking plenty of time. Head into the buckle. Kick, but Latin comes back with many punches to head. Latin off the ropes, grabs the ropes, Zorro miss on a dropkick, Latin gets him with a casita, and Kenzo breaks it up again. Hijo de Tirantes does the teased DQ bit. Latin goes after the guy who's actually a threat to him (Konnan) and gets hit from behind by Zorro. Zorro taking plenty of time between each shot in the corner. Like one pose per chop. Slingshot in dropkick misses because Latin's suddenly fine. Series of Latin right hand jabs - and a big headbutt. Corner whip, reversed, Zorro misses again and gets clotheslined. Zorro is quite the jobber today, even more than usual. Sharpshooter, and Konnan breaks that up and stomps Latin down. Zorro back on Latin with kicks. Superkick is caught, Latin spins him and superkicks him back. Latin catches Konnan by surprise with a punch, and chases him around the ring with a cane. Konnan hides behind the announcers, where the fans get apiece of him from behind. Latin tries to hit Konnan, but Arturo Rivera blocks his path. Zorro gets in a shot on Latin as he comes back in. Kick, cane shot misses, and Zorro hits himself. Such a jobber. Latin gets the cane, misses and gets fouled by Zorro. That's Zorro's only offense of the match, but it's enough. Konnan yells at Hijo de Tirantes to count, and he does.

Vampiro is out. Hey, it was a no DQ match, what's your problem. Vampiro again points out he's in charge, demands Konnan to be in his office at 8 in the morning for breaking the rules. Konnan loudly refuses to be subject to Vampiro's rules.

Promo: Super Fly and La Parka Jr. will defend AAA and make fun of Konnan.

Match 5: Kenzo Suzuki, Rellik, Konnan (c) vs Super Fly, La Parka Jr., Mesias (c)
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 11/17/08

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 4:43
Other Match Notes: Staggered entrances. Rellik is not over. Parka is mobbed by children. Three kids get there before one security guy does. But one get to dance with him in the ring (the one Parka was actually bringing to the ring.) Konnan again has the title, as if he's champ. I don't know why. Mesias is a surprise. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Tecnicos don't appear to trust Mesias.

Rudos jump the tecnicos at the whistle. Well, except Mesias, who's beats the scary new monster Rellik around the outside of the ring. Can't imagine why he' snot over. Mesias beats up Kenzo too, only for Konnan to stop him. Parka seems to deiced that is Mesias isn't selling, he isn't either, and stands up for some punches. Rudos hold down Mesias to work over him, which works for a while, but he get a double clothesline comeback about 1:45 in (and post a clip). Mesias really shouldn't be doing headscissors. Kenzo stops him, so Parka can get Kenzo with a reverse neckbreaker instead. Konnan just stays out of the way. Rellik manages to get work over Mesias while Parka chokes out Kenzo and Konnan tosses around Super Fly. Someone finally walks over to save Kenzo, and the beatdown is back on. Weak corner shots for Mesias. Parka boost Super Fly to the apron on a corner charge, and Super Fly gets Kenzo with a plancha to start another comeback. Kenzo falls over the ropes out of the ring before a Parka clothesline even gets there, but Super Fly actually gets to effectively connect on his dive for the first time in months (or at least it feels that way.) Mesias causes Rellik to spear the post, and gets him with a pescado. Konnan and Parka in and punching. Konnan takes off Parka's mask in full view of Hijo de Tirantes, and Hijo de Tirantes just stands there pointing. DMEX run out, but just to point form the aisle. Parka inside cradles Konnan while he's looking at them, and Parka wins.

Arturo hilarious thinks it should be a DQ for the mask pull and the pinfall shouldn't count. DMEX celebrate with the tecnicos as the Legion flees, then the tecnicos head to the stage as the Legion stand in the ring. Konnan offers to triple Mesias' salary if he'll join them in the Legion. Mesias comes back in the ring to listen to the pitch, which includes the heavyweight title. Mesias says he's not interested in the money, he's going to win the title without joining. Hey, when you're right you're right. Konnan makes his pitch once more, and Mesias just walks off. I guess that's a no.

That's how it ends, anti-climatically. `
