AAA Mini Line - 08/30/08 (#848)
Recap: 08/30/08
Dr. Alfonso Morales hangs out in a mall, while the other announcers...are at the ring.
Last week: Atomic Boy and Octagoncito advanced, Apaches may or may not be tecnicas (seriously, that's what they ask me), Hart Foundation/Hermandad, Octagon/Parka win, Cibernetico/Chessman have problems, and another draw.
this week: return of Gronda, Mexican Powers vs HF2, Psycho Circus vs Porky & Gato, and more.
Promo: Jerrito Estrada says Mini Charly can't beat him
Promo: Mini Charly Manson feels differently. They're pitching this as youth vs experience.
Four sided ring here.
Match 1: Jerrito Estrada vs Mini
Charly Manson in a AAA Minis Tournament match
Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca, Estado de Mexico, 07/31/08
Winner: Mini Charly Manson
Match Time: 3:00
Notes: No entrances. Fans are happy for the chance to chant Toluca. Pepe
Casas is ref
Clip to start! They pick up with Charly spearing the post on a missed charge. Jerrito gathers himself, kicks Charly to stop him form coming in and, and falls on him with a pescado. Clip? Jerrito's already in, Charly comes back in, and gets Jerrito with a spinning headscissors. Jerrito goes out, and Charly gets him with a top rope plancha. Replays last long than the match has so far. Charly bodyscissors cradle is blocked with a sit by Jerrito. One two no. Mini Charly Manson off the ropes, tossed up and Charly tries to come down with a 'rana. Jerrito reverses it in a powerbomb, but it was mostly Charly trying for a 'rana and Jerrito not holding him up for it. Botched looking, I could've just said that. One two no and another clip. Can they at least make the crowd shots quicker. Back live, you get to watch Jerrito cal his spot before he whips Charly and powerslams him. Jerrito says that's it and heads up. Jerrito climbs the ropes slower than any human being before him, and Charly finally shows up to punch him. Charly pauses to get his chant going before he punches more. Mini Charly and Jerrito carefully position themselves, and Charly ends up with an over head belly to belly superplex. That's the finish.
Break, and they come back for replays which are nearly as long as the match itself.
Video Package: Zorro is an angry man with one good arm. Why do they keep using the footage of him with the mask that's long gone? The old bearded look is at least closer. Anyone, we're just reminded Zorro couldn't get in the battle royale because he was cleared, and we get Zorro's reaction to Chessman winning: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". This goes on and on with the idea that Zorro might have gone crazy.
Noti AAA
- Konnan continues to be on AAA shows, though he's angry about not getting
matches. Maybe he can work with Billy Boy in the openers. Roldan goes with the
idea that he can't fire Konnan, but as long as it's his promotion, he can choose
not to use him. Konan says okay, then tries to throw a punch at Roldan (missed)
and gets held back by security. Konnan goes for plan B, calling out the Legion.
I have no idea why this is part of Noti AAA and not just a segment on it's own
at this point, unless there are massive clips they're hiding. Anyway, Kenzo,
Head Hunter, Electro, Teddy, and Jack (hilariously tripping and
falling in his hurry) hurry to the ring, but don't get in. Roldan cuts them off
by saying they'll be fired if they don't go back to the locker room in ten
seconds. Konnan gets dragged to the back by security.
- Charly Manson! answers a fan question. This something they did with the
website. There's also a bit about him trying to get Chessman and Cibernetico
over to his house so he can work out the differences.
- Verano de Escandalo will be in Guadalajara. Mega title, Minis title, and much
more.
- luchalibreaaa.com is a website, which tells you who's in the Alas de Oro
Video Recap: the Morenos were not big fans of the Apaches family drama. Also, not a fan of Cinthia being put out for six months by Mari. Also, the mystery about Billy they're not close to involving. And there's the random tease of a Sexi Star angle from like six weeks ago that they haven't done anything with. There are things going on, you see. They may not make sense from week to week, but they are things that are going on. Here's a bunch of moves. I need to stop typing
Match 2: Cinthia Moreno, Oriental vs Gran
Apache, Mari Apache
Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca, Estado de Mexico, 07/31/08
Winner: Morenos
Match Time: 8:58
Notes: Entrances, but they're either cut or quick. Apaches have their
belts and matching outfits. Ref is Hijo de Tirantes. Break before the
match.
Apache and Oriental start off. They're even though counter spots, and Apache gives Oriental credit for being a talented person. Oriental attack him from behind, and Cinthia joins in. Beatdown. Oriental leave to work on Mari, leaving Cinthia alone and beating up Gran Apache. Oriental drops Mari on the approach while Cinthia dropkicks Apache into the ropes and stomps him there. Cinthia goes to stomps and working the arm when nothing much else works. Gran Apache has been such a rudo for so long, and a despised truly evil one, and I can't believe he's just a tecnico with no real big explanation. I mean, you can do the math and figure out he's supposed to be a tecnico, but it should be about more than the people he's facing when he's been a rudo for so long. Morenos team up to work over Apache, getting in a camel clutch/dropkick combo before a big clip takes over. They're doing face stretching and arm pulling after the clip. Corner whip, corner dropkick/high kick combo ?) Cinthia distracts Hijo de Tirantes with her, uh, enhanced physique, while Oriental does nothing illegal to Gran Apache. Oriental sets up Apache in the Tree of Woe but doesn't foul him - maybe Cinthia's flirting with the ref just to remind us she's evil now? Oriental has words with Hijo de Tirantes for hitting on his sister (which is great), then whips Cinthia into a dropkick on Gran Apache. Oriental climbs up the ropes and is finally going to get that low blow in, but now Tirantes is actually paying attention. Oriental stops, tells Cinthia to go back to flirting, and gets in that stomp as the other two walk the other direction. Mari grabs Oriental, so Cinthia has to go back to work and attacks Mari. Cinthia pulls Mari down by her hair, causing here bandana to come off and her (short) hair to be exposed. Crowd gets on Mari because she was an evil person who got her hair shaved and not all that much has changed in their eyes. Morenos give her a double elbow drop, and Oriental adds a legdrop. Morenos have to work for it, but are able to double suplex Mari into the tree of woe. Both dropkick Mari while she's hanging there. Oriental goes for the low blow stomp again, but Gran Apache makes the save, slapping Cinthia and knocks Oriental off the ropes and too the floor. Gran Apache has no problem slapping Cinthia around, but takes a moment to free Mari Apache right before the Clip kicks in. After Mari get in a kick right to the head and throws Cinthia around by her hair. Mari stops to knock Oriental off to the apron, allowing Gran Apache to get in a double underhook backbreaker on Cinthia. Cinthia tries to roll out, but Gran Apache pulls her back in, slams her, and Mari Apache adds the top rope tope con giro. Mari is content to kick Cinthia in the head a few more time instead of following up. Oriental tries to come in with a missile dropkick, but Mari just steps out of the way and Oriental whiffs. Arturo, who's the rudo announcer here, laughs at Oriental's misfortune. Apaches can't deice who's supposed to hold Oriental so they other person can mess up the slap, but eventually settle on Mari. Gran Apache of course hits his daughter, Oriental ends up with a straight jacket camel clutch on Oriental, Mari breaks that up with a big kick. Oriental goes out, and Gran Apache flattens him with a big plancha. Clip. Mari and Cinthia face off, and Mari wins that slap exchange every time. Atlántida, Cinthia lisp down the back for an inside cradle (as happens every single time) Gran Apache makes the save with a slap. Gran Apache and Tirantes have an argument before Oriental dropkick Gran Apache out. Mari boots Oriental out, and we're back with the women. Or not, as Gran Apache is waved in by his daughter, and accidentally dropkick her out. Cinthia gets an apron tope con giro on Mari. Inside, Gran Apache puts Oriental in a bodyscissors cradle, but Hijo de Tirantes slow counts him and it's only two. I guess that was set up by the argument, but it seems weak. Gran Apache gets a small package, and Hijo de Tirantes misses it complexly while being distracted by Cinthia. Gran Apache shoves him good for that one, and Hijo de Tirantes ducks down and cover sup. Gran Apache decides he might as well pay attention to the guy he's fighting. Gran Apache loads Oriental in the crucifix, Oriental slips free, low blow kick and Oriental fakes his own for good measure. At least this time, it makes sense that Hijo de Tirantes will choose Oriental over the Gran Apache, because Cinthia does a fine job of convicting him of what happened.
Fabi Apache immediately runs to the ring and dropkicks Cinthia out of it. spinning headscissors for Oriental to take care of him. Fabi only shoves Hijo de Tirantes, but yells at him a lot more and thinks about doing more. She finally slaps him. Hijo de Tirantes is actually consoled by Cinthia. If this was any ref besides Hijo de Tirantes, Id'd think he was turning rudo. This is a just day in the life of Hijo de Tirantes. Fabi offers to put all the titles on the line in a family vs family match. If only there was another Moreno around - hey, they actually mention Rossy, how about that. That's clearly the tease here; Ayako or Diabolica or any other ruda in wouldn't make sense, because it's all family vs family. Mari and Fabi run off the Morenos.
Vignette: Konnan, Teddy, Jack and Nikki (I'm good this week, thanks) wander upon Angel in the locker room, and ask where their new Legion member Super Fly is. Angel was probably thrilled he didn't have the Gloomest High Flyer Ever hanging around for once, and of course that's the time when he needs him. Angel lets the Legion know Super Fly is a member of the Air Force and no other group, so the Legion decides to beat him up. Angle should've probably thought the numbers before getting involved. This vignette was very helpful for learning how to swear in Spanish (although the translation might have softened it.)
Vignette: Super Porky is distracted by Gato Eveready's hyper activity. Oh no Porky's sad again. Maybe he and Super Fly can form a support group. Gato is such a fantastic cat, he's able to fire Super Porky up to compete. As soon as Porky leaves, Gato shakes his head and calls Alebrije to let him know Porky's still a lost cause. Maybe Porky wouldn't be so sad if people weren't talking behind his back all the time.
Vignette: the Psycho Circus seem to have something in their bag. They promise to beat Porky and Gato and the third person who will not be named for some reason for one more win. Lots of ranting from the clowns.
Match 3: Psycho Clown (c), Killer Clown, Zombie Clown
vs Angel, Gato Eveready, Super Porky (c)
Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca, Estado de Mexico, 07/31/08
Winner: 7:10
Match Time: Clowns
Other Match Notes: Oh, it's Angel. I guess he recovered from his beatdown
pretty quick. Porky has his firework shooting guitar. Zombie steals a
kid, and they don't have the bag. Perhaps they dumped it out
somewhere. Zombie puts the kid on the apron to roll him in, and the kid promptly
runs away. Pepe Casas is ref.
Clowns attack right as the introductions are finished. Super Porky takes a backdrop, which is always crazy. Angel gets front suplexed onto upraised knees, then held up for a low blow missile dropkick. Killer lands a slingshot legdrop on Gato before they start showing lots of clips. Crowd is loud for Porky. Killer sets up for a corner charge, Zombie jumps on his back, and Psycho jumps on his back. I have no idea why they'd do such a thing, but Porky runs forward and knocks the whole pile down. They fall into seated position on the opposite corner, perfect for Porky to do the running sit. Clowns flee rather than take another. Tecnico showcase from there. Psycho takes a huge thru the rope bump on a Gato armdrag. Gato's big move to Zombie is to shove him over the top rope when he's leaning there after a missed corner charge. Angel tagged in to face Killer Clown - and they clip it out. Porky and Zombie clown are just suddenly standing in the ring. Porky gets rid of Zombie with his weight, kicks and slam for Psycho, kick and slam for Killer? YES. Porky shows off his muscles. Arturo tries to pretend the Porky chant is ZOMBIE for a half a second, and I wish he'd go with it because that's an awesome idea for a chant. Gato in next, but slips on a springboard plancha, comes up short, and everyone's lost for twenty seconds. Got gets Zombie to dropkick Psycho out, tricks Zombie to throw himself out with a fake, and turns a backdrop from Killer into a springboard tope con giro on Zombie. Camera stick with that, instead of the Angel and Killer fight, though they don't clip away this time. Angel ends up landing a Asai moonsault and Killer can't really catch him like he plans. He does scoop up Angel and slam him into the post. Porky and Psycho left in. Odd how that keeps happening near the end. Porky clothesline psycho, but Killer get in a cheap back elbow, and Psycho takes down Porky. Announcers suggest foul, but there clearly was none. Psycho heads to the middle rope, flying elbow drop, one two three. Chalk up another - announcers say that's 171. Porky is sad, but then the tecnicos dance to cheer up Porky.
Match 4: Jack Evans, Teddy Hart vs Crazy
Boy, Ultimo Gladiator
Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca, Estado de Mexico, 07/31/08
Winner: Hart Foundation II
Match Time: 9:29
Other Match Notes: No entrances, no introductions, they just drop in
five seconds before the match starts. Catch up on your own!
Piero is the ref. Teddy somehow tricks UG into a handshake, which means he stays in a lot longer than Jack (who Crazy just decked .) Crazy get a jawbreaker on Teddy, but Jack wipes him out with a spinning kick. Jack set up for a dive, but UG trips him up. And I'm going to stop doing PBP now. Tecnicos generally control early, with Jack making Crazy Boy look real good. Teddy comes in to save Jack, and the foreigners take control of the match there. Big clip after Teddy hits his SSP. Announcers react big to a move we're not allowed to see, but they do bring a replay of it (Jack standing corkscrew moonsault.) UG get in a shot from the outside to help Crazy turn the tide back, and now it's Ultimo Gladiador turn to look good against Jack. MPs get near falls with two man moves on Jack, but Teddy makes the save against the rudos take control again. Near fall of a lift/springboard kneelift combo, but UG breaks up the pin and takes out best tecnicos. Ultimo Gladiador has a better superkick than most. UG back cracker, Crazy cradle piledriver, UG springboard legdrop, one two - I guess Nicki grabbed Piero to break up the pin, but it looked more like Teddy just kicked out. Jack knocks Crazy out and gets the cartwheel moonsault twisting plancha to the floor. UG gets Teddy with a powerslam, and Piero is so slow getting down, Teddy kicks out at 0. UG and Piero argue, Piero argues with Nicki instead, and teddy and UG exchange waistlocks until Teddy get in a low blow heel trip. Crowd shot here? Double underhook Canadian Destroyer is completely unnecessary, but Teddy's got to get it in. AND the powerbomb backcracker. AND a tornillo elbow drop. Finally Piero can stop being distracted and count. I am not a Teddy Hart expert, but I believe that was a quintessential finish there.
Vignette: Parka and Elegido discuss about not having seen Gronda yet, but they'll be ready for the Legion. Elegido reminds us he's still going to get Pirata Morgan too.
Vignette: Electro, Kenzo, and Head Hunter. They fear no Gronda. KENZO PROMO. In Japanese, but they translate it for us. Bye Bye AAA
Match 5: Head Hunter I, Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki vs La Parka Jr., Elegido, Gronda
Gimnasio Agustin Millan, Toluca, Estado de Mexico, 07/31/08
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:30 (3:35+5:55)
Other Match Notes: Elegido's entrance is joined in progress and appears
to be clipped. Head Hunter is out next, oddly. Electro is wearing his predator
mask. Parka is wearing red and chain mail, and it still doesn't stop him from
being attacked upon getting in the ring. Gronda II is out last, and impossible
to see because of the light show. New music? Head Hunter ties to get him, but
his clothesline misses and Gronda clothesline him. New music? No more Hawk,
that's fine. Gronda has a slightly different mask and furry boots, but is
otherwise the same. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref. Gronda clears the ring, and the
the whistle blows.
Brawling. This is six interesting wrestlers. Kenzo is thrown to the front row, and then suddenly is standing up on the apron. The magic of clips. There's another one after everyone gets set in the ring, clipped ahead to see Kenzo vs Gronda. You'd think this would be the part that's clipped out. Kenzo tries to win a test of strength and battles for a while, but of course that's a no. Gronda is as clothesline-rific as ever, mixing in a slam on Head Hunter. Break when Elegido is supposed to start.
Elegido showcase includes a blurred backside and a crane pose. Parka and Gronda screw around, Parka scared of his partner. Crowd shots - you know, you can only show the shot where you zoom in a tattoo once before people kinda notice it. About five seconds of a Kenzo/Parka bit. Parka blows kisses to the crowd, no idea Head Hunter behind him, and the crowd tries to warn him. Of course, Parka comes back from Head Hunter pounding, but he still can't slam him. Parka slapping him doesn't work, clip, Parka fakes shooting Head Hunter and he falls down. So odd. Parka switches to beating all the rudos at once, and al the tecnicos come in to help for no reason. Gronda in, and now all the rudos are scared to face him. Electro comes in, which only lasts seconds before everyone else come in and knocks them out. Parka and Elegido send out the rudos , Elegido gets Head Hunter with a tope after a fake out, and Parka does something to Kenzo that we don't even see. If Parka's going to do a dive, they might as well be showing it. Gronda and Electro back in, Gronda shows off his ability to do a catapult. Spear. Spear again! Double leg takedown, he's mixing it up. Gronda puts on a half crab, Elegido holds back Head Hunter, and Electro taps out. A half crab, really?
Electro sells enormous knee pain, and I guess it's a hard move to screw it up, but so odd. They do give us a replay of Pakra's tope, so yay for that.
Video package and they're done.
