AAA Mini Line - 07/26/08 (#843)
Recapped: 07/28/08
Announcers do the standup from either a skybox (or a well hidden blue screen.) Arturo's still upset about Vampiro hitting him. This building floor space is incredibly tiny - they're using the four sided ring, and there's barely any space between the corners and the barricade. There's no real entrance, either. They've blocked off one stairway and an aisle as a stand in, but the wrestlers will essentially be walking in right thru the fans, though they don't put security there most of the show. I would guess the announcers are up there because there's no room for an announce desk on the floor either.
TripleMania recap: focus on the Apaches, El Brazo turning on Super Porky, Kenzo beating Parka for the Legion, Vampiro and Mesias' stunt show, and Cibernetico retaining the title at the cost of Roldan's nose.
Promo/Video Package: Night Queens
Match 1: Jessy, Nygma, Polvo de Estrellas vs Argenis,
el Angel, Gato Eveready
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 6:43
Notes: Argenis has switched to black and gold, so now he looks more like
a low rent La Mascara. Think about that! No entrances, and no near half of the crowd
by the looks of it. Piero is ref.
Everything's so zoomed in to start, I worry they didn't find a place to stick in a hard camera. They've been in this building before, I think,, but it's just astoundingly small looking this week. They keep going to a camera far enough up that the action is super tiny, which makes it nice I've deiced no PBP at all this week. They're a big clip at the end of Gato's sequence to jump ahead to Angel'. It was his turn and they only saved seemingly 20 seconds, so it was quite odd. Angel has a bad backflip before getting in the drop toe hold/619 combo. Argenis totally blows a tossed up dropkick, and then they bail out of his sequence to the midst of the beatdown. Quite odd. Nygma does a middle rope front suplex? Who knew. Night Queens enjoy putting the trash can on people and dropkicking it. Kicking the trash can seems to just hurt it, and not Angel, but whatever. They're the ones with the flashy wintergreen outfits, I'm just a commoner. For no sane reason, Argenis gets to start the comeback, doing a slow headscissors reveal to escape a lifted up dropkick attempt. Angel gets revenge with the trash can. The trash can might be my third favorite wrestler in this match. Jessy (who may be 1 or 2) has a mohawk that's a .4 Mr. Aguila. Another jarring clip after Angel gives Jessy a spinning backbreaker. - suddenly, we're into Argenis toping Nygma (onto some steps, fun). Angel takes out Jessy with a top rope plancha, and Gato and Polvo are left in. Gato and Polvo slowly to go thru roll up reversal, all of which don't mean anything because Piero's discussing something with Jessy on the outside (and looking back every few seconds to see if it's time yet.) On the third, Nygma accidentally gets Polvo with his cane, in another tremendously slow to develop spot. Gato doesn't just get the pin, but has to go thru a five part roll up. They've had a cameraman sitting on the steps, shooting towards a couple of girls for the reaction shot to the finish for the last couple minutes here, and they finally go to the shot and - the girls look bored. I'm thinking this was a week where AAA did not need three hours.
Promo: Everyone's at the generic AAA entrance set. The Morenos are pretty sick of the Apache family drama and want their mixed belts back.
Match 2: Gran Apache, Mari Apache vs Cinthia
Moreno, Oriental
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Apaches
Match Time: 9:49
Notes: No entrances. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Apache are wearing bandanas'
on their heads to hide the hair cuts.
Oriental and Apache start with mat wrestling, which leads to Gran Apache doing a headstand to escape an armbar, which means this is so the match I'm ripping this week. Oriental gets the better of him, and of Mari. Mari reverses a whip, but Oriental turns instead of coming back, and topes Gran Apache on the outside. Mari's cap comes off when wrestling Cinthia, and she's got plenty of hair coming back (but it's still quite buzzed). Cinthia goes thru both Apaches on her own, even getting Gran Apache with the farmer's roll and forcing Mari to make the save. Apache finally take control with slaps on everyone, as the crowd gets on Mari for being bald. Cinthia takes a running boot in the corner, Gran Apache lifts her up and rams her sternum first in the post, hanging here there for a Mari dropkick. Looked quite painful. Oriental is slapped around. Gran Apache gives him an inverted powerslam, and Mari adds the top rope senton con giro. Cinthia is kicked around, and Gran Apache slaps Oriental down when he tries to get on the apron. Cinthia finally side steps a corner charge, and Gran Apache ends up slapping his daughter in the chaos. Cinthia holds Gran Apache an Indian deathlock and fisherman's suplexes Mari for a near fall. Oriental back in, for a facelock/double stomp combo that seems just odd. Mari manages to take them both 1 on 2 for a bit, allowing Gran Apache to get back in. Morenos are momentarily stopped, but come back after getting sent to the same corner. Oriental gets a satellite armbar on Gran Apache, and Mari makes the save. Cinthia tries for a bodyscissors roll up on Mari, doesn't really get it, and Mari sits down on her for a two count. Crowd gets behind Cinthia right after the blown spot, how generous. Mari tosses Cinthia behind her on a charge, Cinthia lands behind and legscissors her for a two count. Fans thought that was it. Cinthia knocks Mari out with a jumping running knee, and knocks her down with a running silla. Men back in, Oriental gets a near fall off a missile dropkick. Casita is blocked, Gran Apache puts it on himself, one two no. Oriental takes control, sets Apache in the corner, bottom rope moonsault, middle rope moonsault, headstand splash - that last one eats knees. Gran Apache wastes no time, lifting Oriental up (her he wastes a little time), crucifix powerbomb one two three. Guess the Morenos aren't getting those titles back soon. Gran Apache takes off his bandanna to cover up his daughter, then takes it back when he remembers it exposes his bald head.
Noti AAA:
- Konnan and Roldan sniped at each other on gossip talk shows. Apparently, I
need to watch more La Oreja.
- Why did Vampiro hit Arturo Rivera?
- Triple AAA is heading to the US! They'll get to details later, like after the
shows happen
- Coming to Monterrey - Ruleta de la Muerte. Actually, it wasn't a Ruleta de la
Muerte, unless I'm forgetting what that means. Details
- In Queretaro: Vampiro goes for revenge against Mesias. Revenge? They TIED.
Maybe Arturo will be getting his revenge.

Vignette: our weekly installment of Super Fly, the World's Most Distraught High Flyer. Angel & Super Fly are walking into their locker room, when they notice a laptop's set up on a chair. Displayed on the laptop is Super Fly in a coffin (in the most amateur Photoshop way ever), courtesy of the Foreign Legion. Should've joined them! Super Fly loses his mind in terror. He's so totally dead. Angel's not so concerned, but it's not his face in the coffin.
Match 3: Black Abyss, Histeria, Psicosis (c) vs Billy
Boy, Super Fly (c), Yuriko
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Vipers
Match Time: 9:20 (4:25+4:55)
Other Match Notes: I don't know why Yuriko is a tecnico, this week and
this week only. Please don't ask me. Despite being scared to death, Super Fly's
manning up and wrestling here. He's got an awesome t-shirt. While walking
down the aisle, inches away from fans on each side, Black Abyss decides it's
good idea to set off his aerosol can torch. Twice. No one dies. Pepe Cass is
ref. No break before the match?
It takes about 10 seconds before Psicosis is hitting Billy Boy in the head with a chair (which they either miss or cut away from.) Billy Boy seems to know the Vipers spots better than they do, seeing as he sits around waiting for them at one point. Crowd has filled in a lot since the opener. Usual Vipers beatdown. Super Fly sidesteps a corner charge and backflips over a double clothesline to start the comeback, and looks very graceful doing it. Rudos are all dropkicked for a triple dive - do they have that short of room? Barely. Yuriko and Billy do topes, Super Fly does a tope con giro, and then we get the break I was waiting for.
Super Fly runs back and forth on the ropes for about six times, evading. When he's around to do something, that's when they go to the crowd shot. They do come back in time for his handspring moonsault dive, thankfully. Billy is okay (and well over.) Yuriko is not. Black Abyss takes the kiss. Yuriko and Billy go for topes again, and get hit by chairs form the Vipers. Super Fly is left in with the three Vipers (and fog, from somewhere - homage to Niebla?) Psicosis gives him a crucifix powerbomb from the bottom rope for the win.
JIP: Konnan ranting at the crowd from inside the ring. He wants Roldan. He doesn't show up, so Konnan rants at his wife (in the front row instead.) Konnan promises a confrontation later.
Vignette: Super Porky is still very sad about Brazo turning on him. He's all alone in the world! Alebrije, Cuije and Elegido cher him up. What a collection.
Vignette: Decnnis and Guapito note they're still in the AAA family, and welcome the newest member of the Guapos - el Brazo. This turns into Brazo yells into the camera about Super Porky again.
Match 4: Decnnis, el Brazo (c), Pirata Morgan vs El
Alebrije, El Elegido, Super Porky (c)
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 11:11 (2:49+8:22)
Other Match Notes: Pirata Morgan is not quite Guapo, but he's teaming
with them here. Guapito's very worried about being grabbed by the people on the
way to the ring. Brazo has Guapo VIP gear. I just realized, this set up means
Super Porky has to wrestle his match, then walk up stairs. So not fair. Porky
gets the fireworks guitar and dances with it again. Seems like they clip out the
tail end of the pre-match. Piero is ref.
Brazo has to be held back form attacking Super Porky. Even after the match is started, they hold him back, which seems odd. This is the point where you can fight, why don't you let him? I don't think Decnnis was the brains of the operation, but Guapito should know better. They waste no time in getting to Cuije/Guapito. Cuije takes Guapito out, and Brazo kicks Cuije out. Alebrije responds by getting the fans to chant mean things. Break.
lucha libre us ad spot
Rudos take over a couple minutes after the break, beating up Elegido before Porky has a chance to come in. Elegido's mask is ripped apart, and Brazo busts Super Porky open. Beatdown ends when Pirata insists on facing Alebrije alone and Cuije helps him make his comeback. Decnnis and Guapito knocks those two out and get them with planchas, leaving the Brazos. Brazo runs into a backdrop, but slams Porky and dropkicks him out. Brazo follows from the apron, knocking Porky over with a apron tope con giro (Porky taking a hard fall.) Pirata gets a couple near falls on Elegido, argues the count after a suplex, and Elegido inside cradles him for a fast three count.
Rudos still destroy the tecnicos after the match, so I don't know what the point of that was - if you want to get them over as scary men, why dilute that with a loss? Elegido's mask gets ripped off, but his face is covered by his long hair.
Promo: Mesias gets in Ozz's face, blaming him for the non-Loss to Vampiro (for taking the flame in his face?) Mesias cuts off Ozz every time he tries to explain, of course. The best part, by far, is Ozz's body language. It must be tough to want to punch your messiah in the face.
Promo: Chessman is the most hyper man ever, cutting a promo while occasionally grabbing Cibernetico's $500 shirt (which upsets Cibernetico greatly.) After Chessman threatens to burn both Oz and Mesias alive today, Cibernetico grabs him and urges him to calm down and focus. Chessman can barely stand still, he's so crazed. Cibernetico briefly loses his mind when Chessman touches the shirt again, but he finally gets Chessman to settle enough to get in the catchphrase.
Match 5: Ozz vs Chessman
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Ozz
Match Time: 11:33 (5:12+6:21)
Other Match Notes: Mesias gets hit in the back repeatedly walking the
stairs to the ring. Why does he enter after Ozz? That doesn't seem right. Oh, because
Mesias has the ringpost fireworks. Chessman whips his coat in Ozz's face. I
don't know how Cibernetico's going to make it down the straits in one piece. Security
finally shows up to help, and Cibernetico just tries to high five people in
front of him, so he can slightly push their hands out of the way in the
process. Clip here? Dr. Morales randomly starts announcing Charly Manson
instead of Chessman and tries to cover. Doesn't work. Hijo de Tirantes is the
referee.
Chessman immediately loses his mind, charging Oz like a maniac. Ozz moves out of the way. Chessman grabs him on the next pass throws him into the ropes, miss a clothesline, and Ozz dropkicks him. Dropkick to head, Ozz off the ropes, running stomp. Ozz looks around, then gets around to covering, one two no. Ozz floors Chessman with one punch, then distracts Hijo de Tirantes so Mesias can get in a lot of shots. Hijo de Tirantes busies himself with Cibernetico as Mesias works Chessman over. Ozz back to work. Whip, backdrop. CHESS MAN chant. Ozz is concerned. Kick to Chessman. Right. Ozz going out - is there room for a table? Whatever's going on, Hijo de Tirantes grabs Cibernetico again and misses it. Mesias works over Chessman on the outside again. Hijo de Tirantes turns around, gets back in the ring, and spots Mesias near Chessman. Mesias hilariously insists that he was just fanning Chessman. Hijo de Tirantes doesn't buy that, and threatens to eject him. Of course, he doesn't. Yep, looks like Ozz has a table. CLIP. Chessman is magically out on the mat, while Ozz is on the apron. Ozz comes in with a slingshot tope con giro. The table is all in the ring, but on it's back and not set up. Ozz adds a legdrop to Chessman, and talks to Mesias. Time to set up the table. Ozz leans it in a corner. Mesias tosses in some plastic molded chairs. Hijo de Tirantes looks at him the whole time, and just threatens. Always with the threats, that one. Cibernetico appears to yell at Chessman to get up. He's so no help. Ozz stops building to work over Chessman for a second. Whip, Chessman reveres, spinning backbreaker to Ozz, superkick, side slam. Chessman kicks Ozz in the spine, then pounds him form above. Chessman covers, one two oh no he pulled him up. I guess it works this time, since he's said he wants to cause a high level of damage, but why then pin him to begin with? Chessman goes back to throttling Ozz with punches. Mesias distracts him, so Chessman yells over at him and kicks Ozz in the back again. Chessman gets the crowd to cheer, picks up Ozz, and drops him by the corner. Chessman climbing - this is a bad idea! Tornillo moonsault! Totally misses! Break.
Ozz hammers Chessman in the back of the head with his leg, while pulling him into an arm scissors submission. I don't think an arm scissors is going to work when there's a table set up in the corner. Ozz switches to elbows to the head. Cibernetico yells some more. Ozz tires to throw punches, and Chessman gets the better of it. Oz takes a big timber bump off one. Cibernetico actually helps out Chessman by throwing in a steel chair to him. Cibernetico's very proud of himself as Chessman hammers Ozz with the chair many times. Mesias make a fuss, so Chessman starts to go after him, up into Hijo de Tirantes teases a DQ. Chessman elbow drops the chair, with Ozz's hand presumably underneath it. He might have just been doing it for fun. Chessman wedges Ozz' head in the chair and sets up - kick to the bottom of the chair doesn't do much, but I get the guillotine idea. Chessman punches and kicks Ozz more as he gets up, but again stops to yell at Mesias again. Cibernetico and Hijo de Tirantes both try to get him to focus on Ozz, but Chessman's very ADD here. Ozz's head is wedged in the chair once again, Chessman goes up - flying legdrop come sup empty! Perhaps Chessman should stop going up? Ozz covers one two NO. Ozz covers again one two no. Crowd loud for Chessman as Ozz pounds him again. Cibernetico slips a chair to Chessman in such a way it was pretty obvious Ozz would take it from him, which seems awfully dumb. The chair is pretty well broke, so Ozz ends up just trying to jab it at Chessman, but Chessman slides under and knocks him down. Back to Chessman beating Ozz with the chair many times, then thrown in it at Mesias. Hijo de Tirantes gets involved again, and Chessman threatens to kill him, so Hijo de Tirantes threatens to DQ him. Cibernetico tries to get Chessman to focus. Corner whip, towards the table, reverse, Chessman stops short, Ozz kicks Chessman towards the table, Chessman wobbles but won't fall, Ozz tries a monkey flip (?), Chessman lands on his feet, with Ozz directly between him and the table. Chessman spears Ozz, but short of the table - one two HE PULLED HIM UP. Chessman has an escape plan, at least. He lets everyone know he plants to put Ozz thru the table. The table's adjusted in the corner, Ozz is set up on it, and Chessman backs up all the way to the other corner. Hijo de Tirantes walks over to Cibernetico now - I don't know if Ciber is distracting on purpose or if Hijo de Tirantes is just doing it to himself. Chessman charges, Mesias pulls Ozz off the table from the outside, and Chessman spears the table - and it doesn't break! It bends, it's got a big dent, but it's in one piece and Chessman's right shoulder can't feel good. Hijo de Tirantes, Ozz and Chessman have a not too hidden huddle. Ozz goes to the opposite corner, Chessman staggers to his feet, and Ozz spears Chessman thru the table, which breaks this time. One two three.
Rudos are gleeful. Cibernetico splits his time on checking on Mesias and starting at the rudos. Lots of shots of Cibernetico looking sad. Replays. Chessman spearing the table and the table not breaking looked so not fun. It broke perfectly on the Ozz spear, oddly enough. Looks like Ozz aimed lower.
In Ring: So no we've got that Roldan/Konnan bit. Konnan doesn't respect the people, Roldan, or his family so - well, it's a break.
In Ring: Ah, those were supposed to be previews of this segment, which is the last two Konnan bits plus more. Roldan says he's got just one choice - to fire Konnan. Super Fly hits the ring, and immediately gets powerbombed. Super Fly is all about facing his fears, at least. He's just the first guy of a bunch from the first few matches to hit the ring and attack Konnan. Konnan handles Billy Boy pretty easily too, but then 9 guys are enough to take one. That's actually much better than it usually goes. Security is out as well. Konan is handcuffed and taken out threw the crowd, only with a pause for Roldan to taunt that this isn't over.
Footage of Konnan being put in a can and driven off.
Next Week: Acapulco! Cibernetico, La Parka, Mesias, Chessman, Mexican Powers, Hart Foundation II, Hermandad, and much more
Promo: La Parka welcome Silver King to AAA. Silver King talks in his Dr. Wagner voice. Parka is not so excited about Vampiro being here. Which is okay, because he's not in this segment. But you get the idea. Has it ever been explained why no one likes Vampiro, or are we just supposed to just make our own guesses?
Match 6: Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro (c) vs La
Parka Jr. (c), Silver King, Vampiro
Palenque del Inforun, Irapuato, 06/29/08
Winner: Legion
Match Time: 12:29 (9:54+2:35)
Other Match Notes: Zorro tries to go after the announcers for Dr.
Morales yelling ZORRA, but can't find them. King is out to Bad Medicine, so
that's a permanent thing. They have a Canadian flag for Vampiro? Ah, Teddy
wasn't on this show. Parka doesn't get mugged as much as I'd figured. Pepe Casas
is ref. Break before introductions.
Tecnicos are dominate. Parka and Vampiro are over. Vampiro gets Zorro with a powerslam, Kenzo makes the save and Mesias rushes down the steps to brawl with him. Ozz is out to help after a moment. Those three brawl up the steps and to the back, while the rudos control the ring. Vamp takes his time getting beat way. Cameras follow them into the back, where it's a lot of people hitting each other and not much selling. Ozz gets knocked into a wood panel (which someone on the other side of the wall immediate tires to fix - awesome!) and is slowed with a chair shot. Mesias holds Vampiro so Ozz can tie his wrists together. I guess Vampiro is knocked out from the chair shot to the back? Back in the ring, Kenzo sends Pepe Casas away so he can foul Parka, then gets the backbreaker/dancing kneedrop combo on Parka. Break as the beatdown continues.
luchalibreusa ad
Silver King makes the comeback about a minute after the return from break, but it involves a lot of standing around waiting for the other guy to do their spot. Silver King gets in his dive on Electroshock. Parka gives Zorro a backbreaker and gets the best of Kenzo. Parka gives Kenzo a German suplex, which is high on the list of things I'd never expect to see. Kenzo goes all out on and lands on his neck. I guess that's supposed to be the explanation for why Parka keeps grabbing Kenzo in a waistlock when Kenzo fouls him - he had a plan. Unfortunately for him, Parka tries it again and gets fouled this time. One two Silver King breaks it up? King gets Kenzo with a dragon screw leg whip, but Zorro ends up hitting his cane flurry on Silver King for the win.
"NO NO NO NOOOOOO" And so on. Since they appear to be down a member at the moment, Zorro invites anyone from AAA to join the Legion. It's a now or never situation. Gran Apache and Mari Apache come to the ring. Zorro is surprised, rips on them for choking at TripleMania (hey!) and lays out Gran Apache with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Ayako Hamada appears from nowhere to attack Mari from down, and both Apaches get stomped down. Cibernetico and Chessman rush the ring for the save. Cibernetico grabs Zorro for a chokeslam. Ayako forearms Cibernetico in the back multiple times (Electro and Kenzo ran, so we know who the brave one is in the crew.) The shots just annoy Cibernetico, which is enough for him to let Zorro go. Cibernetico teases hitting Ayako, just to get her to flinch, and turns back to Zorro. Meanwhile, Chessman has finally made it in the ring - and spears Ayako! Cibernetico's all "huh", then pulls Chessman away when he stomps Ayako as she's trying to get out. Chessman's all like "wha?" Zorro carries Ayako off to the back. Parka and Silver King stare at Chessman in the ring while Cibernetico storms off , stopping to dramatically look at Chessman when his music cue hits. Chessman has no understanding why people might be upset with him.
Replays, including Konnan being taken away, and that's it. So Mesias big measure of retribution was tying Vampiro's wrists together and leaving him on the floor? How evil.
