AAA Mini Line - 04/26/08 (#830)
Recap: 05/04-05/07/08

Opening highlights: Clowns winning streak, Zorro winning Rey de Reyes, Cibernetico winning the title, the ladder match, and the tag match

Promo: the Sect says the Clowns may have a lot wins, but they have the atomicos titles. Too bad this isn't an atomicos match.

Match 1: Zombie Clown, Psycho Clown (c), Killer Clown vs Cuervo, Ozz (c), Scoria
Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 03/16/0

Winner: Psycho Circus
Match Time: 5:33
Notes:
Zombie steals a kid once again, Killer and Psycho open a bag, and they get him far in before security takes the bag away. The kid looks a little bit freaked out. Sect have their Atomicos match. Pepe Casas is ref.

Sect jump the Clowns before the bell, which seems to be only plan that's worked at all so far. Scoria even gets a belt shot in. Lots of 3 on 1s until one on Killer Clown fails, and he big boots Scoria to start the comeback about 2 minutes in. Part of the crowd seems behind the Clowns as they come back. 3 on 1s the other way. While Psycho and Scoria can not get together whatever move Psycho is trying (powerbomb? Styles Clash? I dunno) Zombie sneaks in a foul on Ozz. Clowns work together to triple powerbomb Scoria, and then cover both Scoria and Ozz for the match.

Replay: all the Rey de Reyes matches last week, clipped down to fight in one very long segment.

Video Package: Zorro, Rey de Reyes. They're really big on using video as if shot from the crowd.

Noti AAA
- Prez Roldan announced TripleMania at Palacio del Deportes
- Next week: Zorro vs Cibernetico
- Zorro, on the phone, talks about the match.

Promo: Chessman's says he's going to win the ladder match and the money...unfortunately Halloween and Extreme Tiger run in on the Chessman promo to rant about how they're going to win. And so does Juvi, who forgets he's talking to people and not the camera. They're all blessed by the presence of Teddy Hart. Teddy tells us his name is Ted "The Terminator" and Chessman's all "WHA?" and Teddy starts to explain again and a fight breaks out. This was something. Security has to break it up, but Juvi has time to rant at the camera again and Joe Lider appears to make a face.

Extreme Tiger b Chessman, Teddy Hart, Halloween, Juventud Guerrera, Joe Lider [ladder]
Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Sabu, Scott Steiner b Alebrije, Charly Manson, Chavo Guerrero, Laredo Kid

Match 2: Joe Lider vs Juventud Guerrera vs Halloween vs Extreme Tiger vs Teddy Hart vs Chessman in a ladder match for $250,000
Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 03/16/08

Winner: Extreme Tiger
Match Time: 21:48 (8:08+11:53+1:47)
Notes:
Teddy is using Eminem. I didn't know this was 2004! They've got a briefcase hanging form the ring. Of course Halloween has to introduce his team, but he needs to get a working mic first. Halloween seems to insult the people of Guadalajara, which is odd being in Monterrey. TJ Extreme is better at introductions than Xtreme Tiger. For some reason, the break before the match is right in the middle of introductions. Chessman is the most over guy, and then out does Teddy's moonsault before the match. And then they high ten for whatever reason. Copetes is ref. Fight break out before the whistle.

Just a normal six person brawl to starts. MPs dominate for a while, sending people out, but none of those people think to get a ladder when they get there. Juvi and Lider go out, bring in a ladder, and only then realize both guys want to win the match. Lider wins the tug of war over Juvi, who has tapped ribs for some reason. Lider turned on Juvi from there. Chessman and Teddy end up working as a tag team bit. Chessman gives Lider a side backbreaker and holds him there so Teddy Hart can add a top rope legdrop. Teddy Hart is Teddy Hart, so he does a shooting star fistdrop instead. This does impress the crowd. There's the usual blown spots. Chessman boosts Teddy up and Halloween is supposed to spear him out of the air, but Teddy is way short and they don't even tough each other. I think Chessman gets hurt here by Tiger's dropkick to the knee, because it looked right on the knee and he seemed to be having trouble standing after.

Juvi ends up laying out the Tijuana crew with ladder shots, then sandwiches them in and on top of the ladder. There's weird crowd shots, probably for clips, right before and after Juvi goes for his elbow drop. Juvi's elbow drop is botched (overshot), so I don't understand why they didn't clip that too. Juvi makes the first actual attempt to climb the ladder for the belt. Lider jumps and pulls him off for a big gutbuster in the most unsafe way possible. Instead of setting up the ladder to climb, Lider sets up two chairs and lays the ladder on top. Break.

Chessman's laid on top of the ladder, Lider goes to the ropes, and Juvi knocks him off with another ladder. Chessman moves, so Lider takes a painful bump onto the ladder, bending it beyond use. That's what Joe Lider does. After some sorting out, Halloween and Teddy are left in the ring. Teddy tries using the bended ladder as a corner wedge, throws it out, and gets the unbent ladder Juvi had. Teddy wedges Halloween in the corner behind  ladder, and hits the ladder with a chair. That probably doesn't hurt so much. Halloween tells Teddy to climb up, Teddy leaves the ladder wedged in, puts Halloween on the top rope (so it's not like the ladder was actually binding him) and goes for a 'rana, but Halloween just shoves Teddy out so he crotches himself on the ladder. Probably shouldn't have left it there. Chessman stops Halloween form doing more with his fifth or sixth superkick of the match. Chessman puts Halloween inside the ladder and drops on it with a top rope moonsault, which hurts both guys. It also bends the ladder, as Chessman finds when he tries to stand it up for use. Copetes helps fix it, and Chessman gets about half way up before Tiger gives him a chair shot. Tiger makes a table out of chairs on the outside. Joe Lider, like a moth to a flame, rushed over to get involved. Tiger tries to give him a tornado DDT, Lider blocks it and Lider gives him a Michinoku driver onto the chairs. Lider grabs his left arm after impact - he may be more hurt.

Inside, Teddy sets up a ladder and starts climbing. Juvi knocks him off with another ladder. Juvi sets up that ladder and starts climbing. Teddy Hart gives Juvi a "Move", climbs, and gets powerbombed off. I really didn't ant to do PBP for this match, because it's such a bad idea and it takes longer, but it has allowed me to note they haven't been blowing things at quite the rate of the last ladder match. Teddy recovers to throw out Halloween by his chest, and follows with a top rope moonsault to the floor, which gets a round of applause. Chessman set sup a ladder while they recover on the outside. Teddy goes in again, runs for another dive, but Halloween chairs him on the tope attempt. Halloweens set up Teddy on a table he just happened to have set on the outside, and takes him out with at op rope splash.

Chessman can't get his ladder set , but he sees Lider coming in the ring anyway and just throws it at him as hard as possible. Lider is still holding his left elbow as Chessman stacks a couple ladders on him. Stop doing moonsaults, Chessman! Oh, he does an elbow drop onto two ladders, that's so much better. Chessman sets up the ladder once again, even though it's bent beyond use. Chessman gets annoyed with the ladder and throws it down. He spots Juvi coming in with his own ladder, beats him up much, and takes the ladder for himself. Chessman ends up setting up three ladders in between kicking Juvi hard and occasionally chest slapping him hard. Chessman climbs one of his ladders, and Juvi just smashes him with the other one, knocking them both down. Chessman worked so hard at setting that up for some spot and they didn't even do it. Poor chessman. Juvi climbs the ladder he was using, realizes he can't make it all the way up (the top step is missing) and dives off with a clothesline on Chessman. And then they work Irish whip spots! Chessman spears Juvi, then goes out to - set up a table. Meanwhile, Lider is alive and setting up a ladder. Chessman just takes it form him and uses it himself. Chessman starts climbing up one side of the ladder while Lider starts climbing up another. I've seen this happen in many ladder matches before, and usually it end up being a fist fight and a third person knocks them over. Not this one - Chessman and Lider climb back to the mat and argue about who gets to climb the ladder now. So weird. Lider has a hole in the back of his trunks, and no one wants that. Chessman agrees to let Lider climb up the ladder and win - HEY, I think I've seen this before! Lider starts climbing, and Chessman calmly walks around the ladder to Lider's side, plucks Lider off, and throws him down. $$$$$$ > tag team titles!

Cameras on the outside catch Xtreme Tiger stirring. Halloween and Teddy appear to still be out from their table bit. Juvi is down in one corner. Lider is crawling on hands and knees while Chessman repositions the ladder. Chessman watches Lider set up the ladder again, and actually leaves the ring. Oh, never mind, Chessman found the chair he was looking for, and uses it on Lider. Joe Lider is having a painful day. Chessman climbs back to the apron for no reason, then gets into a fight with Extreme Tiger there. Tiger is knocked into a ladder that's leaning on the ropes for no reason, and Chessman climbs the ropes for no good reason. Tiger is smart enough to grab the ladder and hit Chessman with it, knocking him off the ropes and onto the table he set up before. Naturally, Chessman's table doesn't break right for him and he goes bouncing. Chessman should feud with someone dressed up as a giant table. Replays from multiple angles. Lider is setting up the ladder with no top stair in the middle of the ring. Tiger watches him climb while he grabs a bent ladder, and we get the second break of the match.

Lider is very very slowly climbing, so Tiger has a chance to set up the his ladder so it's sitting on a step and a rope, then climb up the other side of the ladder and stop Lider from reaching for the briefcase with punches. Lider is subdued with a head shot to the ladder, Tiger climbs up above him, and everyone sees what's coming. Lider takes a sunset flip powerbomb from the top of the ladder into another ladder, surely causing pains he'll feel for the rest of his life.

Juvi awakens to start climbing the ladder, but Tiger hits him hard with a chair shot. Tiger starts climbing, drops down to move the ladder, and starts climbing again. Halloween is back alive, and going to the ladder. Unlike the Mexican Powers, the Tijuana Family has not turned on each other the whole match, and it continues here. Halloween holds the ladder in place while Tiger climbs to the top, and unties the briefcase. He's the winner. Tiger falls to the mat

Crowd seem to like the match. Halloween celebrates with him, as we get a zoom in on a huge gash on his right shoulder - probably from Lider's Michinoku Driver. Tiger opens the briefcase, and he and Halloween play with the money, which is actually in the case. Chessman is loaded up on a stretcher, but they just leave him there while they check other people. Lots of crowd shots. Replays. An overhand angle shows that Lider took 95% of the impact of the Michinoku Driver on to chairs with his legs and lower body. Credit for protecting this man, but I'm not sure why you'd want to do that spot then. Teddy Hart walks of holding his back. Joe Lider is stretchered out. They play the MPs music, so I'm guessing Juvi is fine and dancing at this point. Oh, there he is, shaking hands with Teddy.

Video Package: Mesias/Cibernetico

Replay: And the match, which doesn't seem to be clipped. No entrances, which  I guess gives them enough time to skip the commercial break in the middle of the end sequence this time. Post match might have been clipped down a little bit.

Match 3: Electroshock, Sabu, Kenzo Suzuki, Scott Steiner vs Laredo Kid, Alebrije, Charly Manson, tecnico in a special match declaration
Plaza de Toros Monumental, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, 03/16/08

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 8:10
Other Match Notes: The three AAA tecnicos come out first. Electroshock has this red full body suit that's supposed to look like muscle structure. It even includes a hood. It looks kinda dumb to me, but okay. No reaction to the Sabu music and only a slight reaction to him being there as a surprise. Kenzo swears on microphone, good for him. Scott Steiner gets a tone of fireworks. No reaction to Chavo Guerrero, who certainly has a lot of hair now. He points to his Latino Heart t-shirt enough enough that they announce him as "Brother of EDDIE GUERRERO, Chavo Guerrero." Break before the match starts.

Rudos jump the tecnicos. If you wanted to see Scott Steiner beat up Alebrije, boy is this the match for you. Steiner does seem to find Charly Manson is easier to throw around. Kenzo stands up Laredo Kid at one point, dances over, stops, and then slaps Laredo in the face. Sabu, still confused by these very strange lucha rules, covers Laredo Kid. The match does not end on a dancing slap. Meanwhile, Scott Steiner charges Cuije around the ring, which is a fantastic idea. The mini manages to out run him, so Steiner beats up the big version again. Inside the ring, Chavo gets tired of taking Electroshock's punches and puts himself in an abdominal stretch. Steiner runs around the ring after Cuije again, but Hijo de Tirantes cuts him off. Steiner pauses for a moment, agrees to stop, and then posts Laredo Kid. Meanwhile, Electro grabs Cuije, picks him up, and walks around teasing throwing him into the crowd. Electro puts him down, and slaps him in the face. Hijo de Tirantes misses this, doing his notDQ bit with Kenzo and Chavo.

Announcers randomly start talking about When World's Collide. Oh, the Gringos Locos vs Santo/Octagon match, that makes a lot of sense. Rudos take them whipping guys into Scott Steiner clotheslines, except somehow Alebrije reverses a whip and Electroshock takes it. Scott is not too cornered about that, but more concerned when Cuije starts biting him on the backside. Scott turns around and kicks him in the face, but the other tecnicos make their comeback, even if the Americas are quite confused. Laredo gets Electroshock with a pescado DDT, which looked to easy.

It remains brawling, with guys slowly excusing themselves from the action by being knocked out. Charly gets a showcase versus Scott Steiner, and even though they have issues waiting for each other, everything seems to work out okay. Manson nears gets on his reverse figure four, but Kenzo & Electro break it up. That leads to a sequence with Alebrije and Laredo Kid. Kenzo gests knocked to the outside, Cuije tires a top rope plancha, Kenzo catches him and tosses him into the fourth row. Alebrije topes him in response. Electro adds his own tope, and Alebrije goes over the barricade on the catch. Laredo gets to the apron on that side and shows off a springboard tornillo with a lot of spin, but little distance, and he only barely gets caught and nearly hits his head on the apron.

Replays of that as Scott throw Charly around on the inside. Overhead belly to belly suplex, middle ropes exploder, one two three. Oh, he's captain, I forget. I kept waiting for Chavo Guerrero to do something worth writing about.

Break after the match. There's still some time left in the show, which also threw me.

Konnan comes out to talk about how the Legion is so much better than AAA. They won this atomicos, Zorro's going to win Rey de Reyes, and Ron Killings isn't here because he got signed by the WWE. Konnan rants more, eventually about how Roldan can't do anything and the wrestles of AAA are [bleep]. We see Roldan angry backstage, and Prez Roldan shows up to verbally spar. He just needs to start mouthing Konnan's lines to complete his transformation into Eric Bischoff. Anyway, this is all just set up for La Parka Jr. to return again. He seems to have some, but not a lot, mobility in his left arm. There's absolutely no contact - the rudos just run off when La Parka and the tecnicos from the match storm the ring, and the show ends with both sides posing. You can see Roldan is talking again, but they either cut it off or his mic doesn't work.

And that's it for Rey de Reyes.
