09/29: Guadalajara, Monterrey, Coliseo

It sounds like wrestlers going on strike to protest TV Azteca airing WWE SmackDown on Friday may be more than idle chatter and have some substance to it. Something to watch this week, with the premire this Friday.

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, Ovaciones]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Goddess, Princesa Blanca, Sahori b La Nazi, Medussa, Mima Shimoda
3) Máscara Púrpura, Tony Rivera, Valiente b Loco Max, Sangre Azteca, Satánico
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Águila
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone DQ Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero

Lizmark fouled Dos yet again in the main event.

In the tercera, Sangre Azteca played the part of Halcon Negro this week and surely regretted it. That picture over there is a still of a Valiente dive gone horribly wrong, and both he and Sangre were strechered out. The CMLL.com report says it was only a scare, but that’s pretty scary. This also overshadowed the angle they were running – Tony Rivera vs Loco Max is indeed on for a hair match next week.

This morning, there was a note confirming this on CMLL.com, noting Tony’s past long winning streak in these matches and Loco Max’s bad performance. It’s disappeared since about 11AM CST.

Ovaciones writes about the Halcon Negro situation. They’re under the belief Halcon Negro is actually supposed to show up each and every week and keeps no-showing.

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
4) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Máscara Año 2000 & Universo 2000 [OCCIDENTE TAG]
5) Gallo & Hijo del Fantasma b Malefico & Máscara Mágica [hair]
6) Blue Panther DQ Villano V

Panther had Villano in the armbar and V5 must’ve not been countering it this time because Terrible & Texano had to run in for the DQ. Gallo & Hijo de Fantasma did not lose their masks. Phew. It’s not like I was expecting the Dinamitias to win the tag team championships of the West (because, why?), but it’s still is surprising to see them lose any time they don’t have to at this point.

Atlantis has a new offical site at Atlantis.

(Mr. Reyes) Looks like the Oficials won the IWRG Trios title last night.

Al Filo del Ring has a Shocker interview from Guerreros del Ring (the magazine) – not a lot new: considers himself on leave with CMLL and desperately wants to go back, doesn’t like the AAA using the Guapo name but has no issues with the guys themselves – and one from Scorpio at his benefit show, where he hoped to return to the ring by Novemeber.

Aguila Solitaria would like to return to Arena Mexico for a few retirement matches.

Notimex has a story about Bolivia’s Cholitas.

CMLL (MON) 09/29 Arena Puebla
1) Astruriano, Centella de Oro, Tiger Rojo vs Fuerza Chicana, Mr. Rafaga, Toro Bill
2) Black Tiger, Blue Center, Legionario vs Fire, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
5) Blue Panther vs Villano V

Pierrothito brings the lightweight title back to Puebla! Also another Panther/V5 rematch and the trios champs teaming up in a non title match (though Ovaciones thinks we should expect a title match next week.)

Second on the card on Wednesday in
Nuevo Laredo this week: Spiderman vs Batman.

07/18: Coliseo, Guadalajara

CMLL (TUE) 07/17 Arena Coliseo [ova, cmll]
1) Caligula & Messala b Molotov & Sombra de Plata
2) Neutron, Stuka Jr., Super Nova b Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro
3) Goto, Okumura, Virus b Felino, Mictlan, Valiente
4) Mini Damian 666 b Bam Bam
5) Mini Damian 666 b Mini Halloween
6) Bam Bam b Mini Halloween [hair]
7) Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 b Dos Caras Jr., Mascara Sagrada, Sagrado

Main event finish had Ultimo sneak in a low blow on Dos, and Universo cover for the pin. Triangle was broken down into individual matches, like usual. Bam Bam beating Mini Halloween probably means this isn’t over – maybe they did this match off TV because the next one will be on TV? Ohara missed another show, something’s up there. Neutron still exists.

If you want to see highlights from last week’s show, they’re up at Azteca America’s site. This is what airs on the DeporTV America show.

CMLL (TUE) 07/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Neon vs Impostor
2) Quazar vs Azael
3) Metatron vs Exterminador
4) Magnum vs Infierno
5) Leon Blanco & Lider vs Asesino Negro & Egipcio
6) Valiente vs Virus
7) Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Vampiro vs Cien Caras Jr., Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000

Valiente vs Virus is an outstanding concept.

AAA (SUN) 07/22 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Aguila Extrema vs Mercurio
2) Iron, Ramses (Monterrey), Rey Infernal vs Barba Roja, Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.
3) Billy Boy, Estrellita, Octagoncito vs Alan, Fabi Apache, Histeria
4) Octagon, Pirata Morgan, Tinieblas Jr. vs Antifaz, Hator, Monje Negro Jr.
5) Cibernetico & Zorro vs Ron Killings & X-Pac

Guerreros del Ring #96 has Fishman on the cover.

Noticias-Oaxaca has a bio of Angel Nazi.

Today’s eSdSLP AAA show article.

07/07: Mexico, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 07/06 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Galeno Del Mal de box y lucha, Alvin @ el Martinete]
1) Astro Boy & Sombra de Plata b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Nitro, Nosferatu, Virus b Flash, Mictlan, Valiente
3) Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kensuske Sasaki, Ultimo Dragon b Arkangel, Dr. X, Texano Jr.
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Alex Koslov, Felino, Stuka Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Sagrado b Terrible, Villano III, Villano V
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero b Mistico, Negro Casas, Sombra

Wagner back on the rudo side, though still posing like a tecnico. Mistico almost got La Mistica on him, but UG broke it up, and Wagner landed a Wagner Drive for the clean victory. After the match, Mistico was strecher-ed out. Guerrero welcomed Wagner “to the side you never should’ve left”, and invited him to team up for a tag title match versus Negro & Mistico next week. Wagner agreed to the idea.

Panther’s team won it’s match in two falls. Rudos yanked off his mask in the first, so he was forced to compete in a Sagrado replica for the second, but still managed to catch Terrible in a fujiwara armbar.

Dragon/Sasaki/Nakajima was a unannounced addition to the show. Can’t think of the last time that happened, but that means there surely is a Toryumon Mexico show going on some place, somewhere on Sunday. This was said to be good, though no one had any idea who the non-Dragon Japanese were – that’s the lack of adversiting.

Valiente did replace Super Nova, so trust ESTO over CMLL’s own site. Virus fouled him and pinned him for the win.

No results from the AAA Puebla taping yet, but Sabu made an appearance. Rikishi and his (cousin?) Black Pearl are supposed to be involved at TripleMania. Hopefully just run-ins. It’s not like I can hope for no run ins.

CMLL now has a traveling museum/bus. It’s filled with masks, trophies, newspaper clippings, etc. If this is to be believed, Pierroth was driving the bus on this day.

CMLL hasn’t put up lineups yet.

GdR #85 has
07/01 Coliseo: Bam Bam, Fantasy, Shockercito b Mr. Aguilita, Pequeno Damian, Pequeno Halloween
07/01 Coliseo: Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
Outside the ring: Terrible

Gran Alternativa Teams Announced

CMLL.com’s gotta ’em

– Heavy Metal, Super Nova
– Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura
– Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
– Shocker, Valiente
– Marco Corelone, Flash
– Mistico, La Sombra
– Villano V, Super Comando
– Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia

Tournament will take place next week, June 29, which means we’ve had all of a two week gap between tournaments. (Only the Leyenda de Azul remains, unless they bring back the Gran Prix Trios tournament or something new.)

Mistico & La Sombra are obvious favorites, and Villano and Ultimo will almost have to run into each other at some point. Almost all are tecnico teams, which is a bit odd.

First guess…

Villano V, Super Comando b Heavy Metal, Super Nova
Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Marco Corelone, Flash
b Negro Casas, Stuka Jr.
Shocker, Valiente b Dr. Wagner Jr., Mascara Purpura

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Villano V, Super Comando
Mistico, La Sombra b Shocker, Valiente

Ultimo Guerrero, Euforia b Mistico, La Sombra (though Mistico losing at this point seems impossible)

03/14: Puebla, Coliseo, IWRG, Monterrey, Torreon, Santo

CMLL

Fishman chats on Boy Y Lucha’s site tomorrow.

Perro Aguayo Jr. wants to make a documentary of Perro Aguayo. (ovaciones)

CMLL (MON) 03/12 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Blue Center & Super Star b Mafia & Mr. Rafaga
2) Centella de Oro, SWAT, the Tiger DQ Ares, Fuerza Chicana, Siki Osama
3) Fabian el Gitano, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Arkangel, Cerebro Negro, Kraken
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Valiente b Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila
5) Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Marco Corelone DQ Olimpico, Terrible, Universo 2000

Valiente filled in for Ogun in the semifinal. Terrible replaced Black Warrior in the main event.

CMLL (TUE) 03/13 Arena Coliseo
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II b Artillero & Super Comando
2) Amapola, La Nazi, Rosa Negra b India Sioux, Lady Apache, Marcela
3) Goto, Ohara, Okumura b Brillante, Valiente, Virus
4) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila b Felino, La Mascara, Maximo
5) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Blue Panther, Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero

Someone liked the idea of outside teammate help to win tonight – it happened in the women’s match (Amapola pinning Apache with some help from La Nazi) and it happened in the main event (Averno getting the win with help from Mephisto.)

IWRG (SUN) 03/11 Arena Naucalpan
1) Aguila Oriental b Sasaki
2) Macho II & Vampiro Metálico b Antaris & Ave Fenix
3) Trauma I, Trauma II, Vampiro Metalico b Kai, Kid Tiger, Yamato
4) Bestia Salvaje, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Pierroth Jr. b El Dandy, Esfinge, Suicida
5) Cerebro Negro DQ Black Terry [hair]

Pierroth Jr. interfered in the main event, costing fellow rudo Black Terry his hair. That’s gotta suck. Bestia fouled Dandy to pick up the win in the semifinal. Bestia wants a title match, Dandy wants a hair match. Traumas cheated to beat Kid Tiger in the tercera.

indy (TUE) 03/13 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
0) Mascara Negra & Mr. Cuervo b Black Thunder & Reggaeton
1) Borrico b Angel Negro
2) Hollywood b Black Nazi
3) Golden Boy b Ejecutor
4) Humberto Garza Jr. b Al Barone
5) Hijo de Anibal & Konan Big DQ Hijo del Solitario & Pancho Tequila

Anibal faked a foul from Solitario.

indy (SUN) 03/18 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) Borrico & Tequilita vs Burrito & Mini Burrito
2) La Bella & La Bestia vs La Bandida & Loco Tormenta
3) Angel Negro, Hollywood, Silver Star vs Al Barone, Black Nazi, La Sombra
4) Nygma, Picudo, Silver Cat vs Black Dragon, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Ultraman Jr.
5) Axel vs Hijo de Espanto [FILL MIDDLE]
6) Konnan Big, Laro, Pancho Tequilla vs Casanova, Golden Boy, Humberto Garza Jr.

Konnan Big appears to be calling himself Super Konnan now. Hijo de Esapnto was the champ before Axxel (and before he and Konnan Big passed it back and forth), so this is his rematch for the belt.

indy (THU) 03/15 Deportivo Lee Roy
1) Sepultura & Shuriken vs Black Bull & Terrorista
2) Dark Saint & Rey Tempestad vs Chakor & Vengador
3) Cirucs & Payasito vs Latino Jr. & Muerte Negra
4) Arana Cibernetica & Arana del Futuro vs Rey Halcon & Vaquero Salazar
5) Centella Azul Jr. & Junior Halcon vs Moro Jr. & Psycho

SIGMA (SUN) 03/18 Coliseo Laguna
1) Barrio Boy & Scriba Jr. vs Baby Maravilla & King Azteca
2) Violencia I & Violencia II vs Montana I & Montana II
3) Guerrero Inca & Mini Star vs Angel de Oro & Fuego
4) Psycho & Scriba vs Indio Chirikawa II & Tackle
5) Black Jet, Diabolico I, Kain vs Dimante Negro, Indomable, Spiderman

JUNIORS (SUN) 03/18 Arena Coliseo San Luis Potosi
1) Gronda XXX & Super Tri vs Halcon Dorado Jr. & Ice Killer
2) Breack Demon vs Mensajero, Fleachdor Justiciero, Pantera Silva, Creazy Star, Bat Boy, Tigre del Ring, Coyote Azul [trofeo Arena Coliseo 2007]
3) Coyote Azul Jr. & Lagarto vs Asesino Maldito & Tromba

This sounds like a new promotion taking over the building, though I thought people were promoting with the JUNIORS name in SLP already. Maybe that’s some place else.

Santo wants to open Santo stores in Tokyo and LA in 2007. He tells the story of negotating the contract with Cartoon Network – he wore his mask, and he asked if they had negotated in person with the Powerpuff Girls. Santo notes that he’s different.

EHUI writes about a show that’ll have lucha libre and kickboxing matches.

Zocalo writes about a Monclova female wrestler named Lilit. There are no other local women wrestlers, so she’s wrestling with the men.

New magazine Lucha Libre had Huracan Ramirez on issue #1 and Ultimo Guerrero on #2.

While in India to hype WWE shows, it looks like Rey Mysterio outsourced his gimmick. (Thanks to mikeinformer).

Ask A Mexican explains lucha masks:

My theory? Masks are cool. As great as El Santo — Mexico’s most famous wrestler — was in the ring, he became an icon mostly because of a luminous silver mask that accompanied him through dozens of films and even into the afterlife. Masks allow wearers to bend societal norms and participate in activities that proper Mexicans would frown upon, like lucha libre or hatching a revolution in the Chiapan jungles. Without those masks, the wearer is just another Mexican — and who wants to be that?

KrisZ’s AAA results get their own post in a bit.
