Estrellita won the Mexican National Women’s championship from Princesa Blanca in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara last night. It’s not a big surprise, Estrellita has been doing well in CMLL for the last year and they might have done this weeks ago if Estrellita didn’t cut her hand in a match and had to sit out for a few weeks. Marcela is the world champion, but CMLL presents Estrellita as the biggest female star. If you’re going to go with Estrellita, you might as well go strongly and having Estrellita with a belt is step in that direction.

It’s actually more surprising it didn’t take place on a big show. Blanca and Estrellita have been slightly feuding on the El Luchador show: an early episode included a pull apart when Blanca found out Estrellita was dating Puma King and tonight’s episode appears to center around the cage match they were both involved in. I’m still not sure if the A&E reality show makes a tangible difference to CMLL business – the worst period of CMLL last year was when season 1 aired – but it seems like worth trying to capitalize on it somehow. Right now, the only way they might be doing it is making sure Mistico is back in the ring just in time for the El Luchador episode where he becomes Mistico airs.

Princesa Blanca was champion for nearly 4 years. Amapola was world champion for most of that time, so they’ve gone in a couple months from the rudas dominating the championships to the tecnicas. (It also means the bodybuilding contest tomorrow is the only title Dark Angel is probably getting a shot at in the near future.)

5) Eita vs Flamita, Tribal, Principe Halcón, Hacker, Daga
6) Aero Boy & Black Fire vs Draztick Boy & Rey Latino and Demente Extreme & Séptimo Dragón and Draego & Tony Rodríguez
Dreago & Tony Rodriguez represent GDL’s NWG promotion.
7) Araña De Plata Jr, Ciclope, Loco Max, Pequeno Cobra vs ?, Drabek, Mr. Rebelde, Ursus [cage, hair, mask]
Los Mazisos vs Queretaro locals, last one in loses hair or mask
8) Paranoiko & Pesadilla vs Halloween & Psicosis and Makabre & Super Mega

DTU tour. I think it’s neat how it’s not just Tulancingo & Mexico City wrestlers on the show, but luchadors from places they go to regularly (Guadalajara, SLP) are involved. Also nice is how they’ve getting tag teams together for an extended period prior to having titles (which I assume are coming sometime soon); it’s much better than the other way.

Whenever’s last week’s Fusion recap gets posted (2014), I’ll go over this again, but you really want to book Nicho el Millionario and not Psicosis I right now. Nicho is alright. Psicosis I has been back for months and hasn’t gotten a mask he can actually see and work out of it.

A long long time ago (earlier this year), Daga vowed he was done with DTU. He’s back because of the Perros del Mal deal.

I would guess a local is losing their hair in the cage match. But that must mean Loco Max has hair again.

DTU (SAT) 12/08/2012 Arena Margarita, San Luis Potosi
1) Artikus & Sherry Diva vs ? & Lily Fighter and Radical & Ramieth
mystery person is a SLP exotico
2) Crazy Power I, Crazy Power II, Eragon Kid vs Niño de Ébano, Pequeno Cobra, Talaxys and Extreme Boy, Jorge Quebrada, Slayer Pack

5) Eita vs Flamita, Principe Halcon, Angel Del Misterio, Hacker [DTU ALTO]
Eita is the champion
6) Ciclope vs Aero Boy, Drastik Boy [mask]
7) ?, Astro Latino, Jhonky vs Joe Lider
Mystery wrestler is a DTU trainee, as Lider takes on new wrestlers.
8) Pesadilla vs Cerebro Negro [DTU]
Pesadilla is the champion

Pesadilla is the DTU champion though Joe Lider still seems to defend this title from time to time.

Semifinal appears to be 1 vs 3 and not a four way, but I could be reading the poster wrong. The idea is Lider is going to destroy some rookies.

The three way mask match has been teased for a while. It’s a long term feud with an actual payoff. Those of us who just follow AAA and CMLL may be unfamiliar with the concept.

3) Carta Brava Jr., Eita, Oficial Fierro b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Trauma II

Mascara won in 5:31 of a bad match.
6) Fresero Jr. b Veneno [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, quarterfinal]
Fresero Jr. replaced Canis Lupus. A lot of action, and Veneno won in 2:53.
7) Oficial AK47 b Cien Caras Jr. [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, quarterfinal]
Cien win in 2:01 via suplex into a powerbomb.
8) Trauma I b Hijo de Pirata Morgan [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, quarterfinal]
Brawl. Trauma I had Pirata set up for his favorite hold, but was a bit too slow applying it and Pirata reversed it to a kneebar of his own for the win. 5:12.
9) Veneno b Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, semifinal]
Veneno won with a casita in 2:13.
10) Cien Caras Jr. b Hijo de Pirata Morgan [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, semifinal]
Cien advanced when Hijo de Mascara hit Pirata with a chair from outside. 5:34.
11) Veneno b Cien Caras Jr. [#1 Contenders, Rey del Ring, final]
Cien Caras Jr. won in 4:55 via chokeslam.
12) el Ángel DCOR Oficial 911 [IWRG IC WELTER]
Seconds were Hijo de Pirata and Cien Caras Jr. 911 wasn’t a fan of that idea, complaining that Fierro wasn’t allowed by the commission to be his second and threatening to walk out. He returned when he was about to be counted out. Oficial took the first fall, Angel tried to win the second fall by Code Red but it was botched and Cien yanked his mask off anyway for the DQ. Angel dived onto 911 in the third. 911 wasn’t going to make it back in time, but Angel was pulled back by Cien for the DCOR. Angel keeps his title anyway. Everyone challenged everyone after the match. Falls were 8:05, 3:21, 6:48. Everyone finally attacked 911.

2) Apocalipsis, Artillero, Súper Comando b Bengala, Génesis, Super Halcón Jr.
Rudos took 2/3, Super Comando pinning Super Halcon
3) Magnus b Inquisidor [lightning]
Magnus beat Inquisidor in 9:42.
4) Astral, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito b Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
Astral is back in action. Demus made it clear he wanted the DF minis title back. Tecnicos, led by Dragoncito, took falls 2/3. Dragoncito pinned Pierrothito in the third, and issued a challenge for the Mexican lightweight championship. Pierrothito refused.
5) Stuka Jr., Super Porky, Valiente b Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
Porky and Kraneo swapped all three falls. Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Atlantis, La Máscara, La Sombra DQ Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Terrible
Niebla’s latest return. Straight falls, Terrible pulling Sombra’s mask in the second. Sombra challenged Terrible to a title match, which Terrible ignored.

Pierrothito/Dragoncito seems a couple weeks away from happening here. That same match happens to lead off Pro Wrestling Revolution’s TV show, which debuts 12/08 on a California Azteca America affiliate.

Decnnis says he would’ve liked to unmask Octagon and challenge Mesias for the Heavyweight championship, but he’s leaving with his head held high. Decnnis says he’s putting himself in God’s hands right now and is spending more time with his family and working on promoting shows at his gym.

Dr. Wagner Jr. missed this Sunday’s show in Ciudad Juarez due to a family emergency. The family emergency was ‘he was also booked on the Fusion taping and worked that instead.’ If Dr. Wagner Jr. was really in such a hurry to leave AAA, he probably would’ve worked the indy show instead. That link says “Hundreds of people went to the show”, this link says 6000. Both of those are quantities.

Lucha Libre In Japan

11/20 NJPW: Hirooki Goto, Karl Anderson [O], Jushin Liger, KUSHIDA b Rush, Diamante Azul, Tiger Mask, Bushi [X]

One night in, and Diamante Azul is pictured yelling and pointing at Karl Anderson with four guys holding him back, and Anderson isn’t even in his block. A fine start for Team Rage. They face Tenzan & Kojima, which sounds troubling for Tenzan (bad neck), and possible an Azul & Rush shock win to get off the usual CMLL start.

4) Rey Cometa vs Puma King [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Shocker vs Euforia, Mr. Águila, Mr. Niebla
6) La Sombra vs Terrible

Sombra vs Terrible sounds like a interesting new match. Cometa vs Puma is not new, still great.

1 or 2 weeks from Dragoncito vs Pierrothito, which should be great. This is not bad in the meantime.

IWRG (THU) 11/22/2012 Arena Naucalpan

CMLL (MON) 11/12/2012 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Akron & Siki Ozama Jr. b Black Tiger & Blue Center
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Afrodita, Marcela b La Vaquerita, Mima Shimoda, Zeuxis
Tecnicos took 2/3, Marcela defeating Zeuxis for the win. Vaquerita, working against Afrodita, looked lost at times.
3) Skándalo b Metatrón [lightning]
Reyna Isis accompanied Skandalo. Skandalo won with the Skandalo Driver. Metatron had one of his better performances.
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Triton b Misterioso Jr., Namajague, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took 1/3, Fantasma surprising Misterioso with a roll up.
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Rush DQ Tama Tonga, Terrible, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3, Terrible fouling Sombra in the third fall. Sombra challenged Terrible to a singles match, but Terrible just left.
6) Mephisto b Mistico
Mephisto won the first with a powerbomb, Mistico came back in the second with a torito. Mistico landed his rope crossing dive late in the ring, then landed a shooting star press once without being able to get the pin. Moments later, he went for another, but his feet hit the the ropes on the way down and Mistico crashed shoulder first into the mat. Mistico attempted to cover Mephisto anyway, but Mephisto put him in an armbar and Mistico immediately gave up. The doctor and Tirantes attended to Mistico after the match.

CMLL hasn’t said anything about Mistico’s status, but the local promoter in Durango says Mistico has suffered a shoulder injury and will not be wrestling at their show on Sunday, though he will be appearing to sign autographs. Hope he didn’t hurt his signing shoulder. Delta replaces him on that card. Mistico is supposed to be on Friday night’s Arena Mexico show, and no replacement has been announced yet.

2) Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior b Astral, Bam Bam, Pequeño Halcón
Rudos took 1/3. Bam Bam’s latest return, though it ended with Demus dropping him with his piledriver so he could be gone again. Olimpico also submitted Ultimo Dragon.
3) Fuego, Stuka Jr., Triton DQ Hijo del Signo, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
Stuka & Okumura are feuding (or maybe this is the Coliseo tag team feud again.) Stuka beat fall 1, then the rudos were DQed for excessive violence in the second.
4) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Valiente b Niebla Roja, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Straight falls for the tecnicos when the rudos fell apart. Polvora sided with Rey Escorpion and Niebla Roja wasa left without his mask.
5) Negro Casas b Ángel de Oro [lightning]
Negro continued his dominance over Angel de Oro with a win in 8:49.
6) Tama Tonga & Terrible b Atlantis & Diamante Azul [CMLL TAG]
Atlantis & Diamante Azul came in as champions, but Tonga & Terrible pulled the shocking upset, taking falls 1/3 to win the titles.

Aerostar, Dark Dragon and Fenix won the main event over Difunto I, Monje Negro Jr., and Potro Jr. by DQ in Monterrey, with Dark Dragon refused to help his teammates.

MedioTiempo has an interview with Mesias. He talks a bit about his match with Texano, but also calls LA Park his toughest rival since coming to Mexico, and trashes Carlito as someone’s been handing everything and used his influence to keep Mesias from going to WWE.

I will be losing AYM Sports from my cable system on 12/12. AYM has broadcasts Sobre el Ring (the Javier Llanes/Jaque Mate interview show) and various independent groups (Revolution Free Style! FULL!), but is most notable for broadcasting IWRG’s Sunday shows the last couple months. I’m going to miss those, there’s been some really great and fun matches during this short run. The show drives me crazy because I’m up until way too late to put it together for the Tuesday post, but I’ve been thrilled to share the matches with everyone else. We’ve got four more Mondays to go.

I think it may be a case where everyone in the United States is losing AYM; this is not a surprise, one of you mentioned a month back they tried to sign up to get the channel only to be told AYM was going away by their cable system. The channel that replaces it is “Latin American Sports“, and is owned by the same parent company, so they may have simply decided to change which channel they wanted to transmit to the US. AYM Sports itself will still keep broadcasting in Mexico and continue the lucha libre shows, I just won’t be able to share them. The channel description for Latin American Sports says it too broadcasts wrestling (possibly from Puerto Rico?), but does not say what. It’s supposedly already on DISH Network, but I can’t find a guide with a programming listing and there is no website.

Murder Clown is upset the Infierno Rockers would attack them from behind. That’s not very gentlemanly! There’s also talk about the Psycho Circus wanting the trios titles back. It’s seemed like AAA may be doing a Psycho Circus vs Consejo trios title rematch (with Silver defending the title instead of Texano), and that’s suggested in this article agian, but maybe it’ll turn out to be three way with the Rockers?

Joe Lider & Kaientai will face off in a hair vs mask match on NGX’s 10th anniversary show.

DTU luchador Tacubo will be given an award for his anti-bullying campagin.

R de Rudo has a podcast talking about Eddie Guerrero, 7 years after his passing. Perros del Mal will also discuss Eddie Guerrero on their podcast.

AAA’s website has an article about how AAAwesome AAA is. If they really want talk about how they have zero taboos, maybe they can mention Extreme Tiger leaving.

AAA also has part one and part two of their interview with Psycho Circus.

X-Project is doing it’s annual toy drive, this one for Fray Tormenta.

El Hijo del Santo was part of a press conference to promote a film festival in Mexico City later this month.

Lineups

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 11/20/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Halcón de Plata & Metatrón vs Exterminador & Magnum
2) Gallo, Sensei, Starman vs Bárbaro Cavernario, Cancerbero, Raziel
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Silueta vs La Comandante, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis
4) Atlantis, Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada vs Morphosis, Psicosis, Tama Tonga
5) La Máscara vs Volador Jr.

This is the seventh La Mascara/Volador Jr. match this year, and third in Guadalajara. They’ve split the other two.

A increasingly rare Morphosis appearance! His first match in CMLL in two months, his first appearance in Guadalajara since February. Mophosis seems to spend most of his time in Texas/northern Mexico, where he’s still working as Histeria.

More loaded card than usual means Metatron is down to the opener here.

IWRG (SUN) 11/18/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Astro Rey Jr. & Serpiente de Oro vs Dragón Celestial & Epidemia
2) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Trauma II vs Carta Brava Jr., Eita, Oficial Fierro
3) Dinamic Black, Golden Magic, Saruman vs Alan Extreme, Imposible, Jack
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan vs Veneno, Trauma I, Oficial AK47, Cien Caras Jr., Relámpago, Canis Lupus, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 [#1 Contenders, Rey de Ring]
5) el Ángel vs Oficial 911 [IWRG IC WELTER]

It’s been a long six days since the last IWRG tournament. Relampago is going to keep going into these until he finally wins a match. Last #1 contenders match meant an immediate title match, not sure if that’s the same here.

911 vs Angel looks really good, as do the 2nd and 3rd match. It looked like Cerebro Negro was headed towards the rudo side in last weekend’s tournament, something to watch here. Interesting to see Trauma II scheduled for a segunda.

They’re doing a 3 for a price of 2 ticket deal.

3) Hijo del Signo b Pegasso [lightning]

Euforia replaced Mephisto. Rudos took 1/3, Euforia beat Maximo.
6) Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Tama Tonga b La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Mistico
Mephisto replaced Ephesto. Rudos took 1/3, Mephisto yanking Mistico’s mask to beat him. Mistico challenged Mephisto to a singles match next week. A fan gave Mistico a mask after the match, but the rudos ripped that one up too.

The El Sol de Puebla calls Tuareg vs Cancerberos “one of the more stale rivalaries”, while the Porra Fresa recap notes the Puebla fans do not get into rudo vs rudo feuds.

1) Camorra & Ramstein b Freesbe & Robin
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr., Triton b Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
Triton replaced Angel Azteca Jr. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Dark Angel, Marcela, Silueta vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Tiffany
Silueta replaced Dallys on Monday. Tecnicas took 2/3, Silueta & Dark Angel beating Seductora & Tiffany.
4) Delta b Virus [lightning]
Delta won in 6:57 with a reinera.
5) Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma b Euforia, Olímpico, Vangelis
Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Mephisto, Tama Tonga, Terrible b Atlantis, Blue Panther, Diamante Azul
Mascara Dorada was originally announced, then replaced by Blue Panther. Tama & Terrible beat Atlantis & Diamante Azul, then challenged for a tag title match next week.

They’re doing the tag title match! Not sure why it got switched from Sunday or Tuesday (or maybe I was wrong all along, possible.) This changes the Azul vs Tonga match on Sunday a bit.

CMLL (TUE) 11/06/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [SuperLuchas]
3) La Máscara, La Sombra, Mistico b Felino, Psicosis, Rey Escorpión
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Pequeño Warrior L Shockercito, Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Halcón, Aereo, Astral, Fantasy, Pierrothito, Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia [cage, hair]
Cage was a death trap. Halcon escaped, after the three minute fighting period, then the problems started. Olimpico escaped when a part of the cage gave way and trapped his arm in the cage. Oficials had to pull him free. Mercurio, Aereo and Fantasy followed him out. Astral attempted to do a moonsault off the top of the cage onto those who escaped, but got caught in the cage and fell very badly. Medics quickly rushed him away. Mercurio was also hurt here, and needed a strecher. Pierrothito bleeding (which may have not been an accident) before he left. Demus was given all sorts of moves and thrown off the cage while trying to escape multiple times. He did escape, but could not stand up and was strechered out. Pequeno Violencia’s back was bloody as he climbed out. That left Shockercito and Pequeno Warrior for the single fall final, and Shockercito won with a reinera after a bit of time. Pequeno Warrior lost his hair.

Post match, Shockercito said he may not be a big star, but he a big person in Pequeno Warrior.

There’s a minis match on Friday – Astral, Fantasy, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeno Olimpico, Pierrothito – and we might have a better idea of who made it out of this cage match in one piece by who’s actually in that match. It’d be nice if CMLL just explained their situations, but it’d be even nicer if anyone explained the deal with Angel Azteca Jr.

La Magnifica, the QPPLC women’s winner who never turned up on AAA’s TV and is never mentioned when they talk about last year’s winners, is part of AAA’s Guadalajara stop for this year’s QPPLC talent search contest in a women’s trios match. Magnifica is a Guadalajara native. Maybe the reason she never turned up in AAA is she simply had second thoughts about relocating?

Rob has highlights of 04/27/12 CMLL.

5) Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Bono (Akebono) b Nosawa & Masada
6) Ultimo Dragon, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Great Sasuke b Ultimo Guerrero, Ohara, Black Tiger
Ohara pinned Dragon in the 1st, Ohara unmasked Dragon in the 2nd for a DQ, Dragon beat Ohara in the third

Amapola was taken off Sunday’s Arena Mexico show because she’s headed to REINA X WORLD, defending her REINA International Championship against Mia Yim on 11/11.

Lineups

Eita returns to Mexico on Sunday, replacing Canis Lupus in the WWS Welterweight Championship match. That’s an incredibly loaded tournament, where Relampago is the only questionable guy in the mix and the other guys are great. Lupus moves up to the semimain, taking the place of Hijo del Solitario (who seems done here before he even showed up.)

CMLL (TUE) 11/13/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Virgo vs Acertijo & Sádico
2) Black Metal & Metatrón vs Exterminador & Ráfaga
3) Estrellita, Luna Mágica, Silueta vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Tiffany
4) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Titán vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
5) La Máscara, Shocker, Super Porky vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Volador Jr.

A show!

CMLL RF (SAT) 12/01/2012 Plaza de Toros Caletilla, Acapulco
1) Astral, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Tiffany
3) Fuego, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Misterioso Jr., Skándalo
4) La Máscara, Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Felino, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
5) Atlantis, Mistico, Shocker vs Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero

This is an Acapulco equivalent of the Herdez show in Arena Mexico, a free show being paid for by the local sponsor. Both shows are more packed than a usual Friday night card, the sponsor paying for ‘all the stars’, but neither include Rush. They both take place during the time NJPW is running it’s heavyweight tag team tournament tour, so I suspect Rush is heading over to participate. Not sure about his partner. It should be announced this weekend on NJPW’s PPV.

Puma unmasks Rey Cometa, Rush cuts Terrible, Heroes Inmortales

***79th Anniversary Show***
1) Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Marcela b Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany
Tecnicas took 1/2. Marcela pinned Tiffany with Dalis helping Marcela with leverage. Tiffany challenged Marcela to a trios rematch next week, and Marcela accepted.
2) Ephesto, Mephisto, Niebla Roja b Delta, Stuka Jr., Valiente
Rudos took 1/3. In the third, Stuka pinned Ephesto, but the rudos beat Stuka, and then Mephisto defeated Delta for the win.
3) Ángel de Oro, La Sombra, Titán b Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
Tecnicos took 1/3, Sombra beating Taichi in the third fall.
4) Puma King b Rey Cometa [mask]
Seconds were Tiger & Espiritu Negro. Rey Cometa dived off the stage on Puma with a tornillo before the bell. Puma still pulled out the fall with a leg hold in 1:16. Cometa went into the barricade again in the second fall, but came back to win with the 450 splash in 4:26. Rey Cometa is Mario Alberto González, 29 years old, 13 years a wrestler, from Quereraro. Both gave each other credit for their effort after the match, and Puma thanked the very supportive crowd.

5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Negro Casas, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Mistico, Prince Devitt
Rudos took 1/3, Dragon Rojo beatting Devitt each time and setting up a title match between the two.
6) Rush b Terrible [hair]
Seconds were Toro Blanco for Rush and Rey Bucanero and Comandante for Terrible. Terrible won the first and Rush took the second in usual quick falls. Both bled were said to have bleed; Rush did so from the mouth, and Terrible’s wound is not visible in the pictures (maybe a slight bit on his forehead.) Much less than Volador/Niebla. Rush finally won with the martillo negro. Fans sided with Terrible even after the match, upsetting Rush. Mistico, out to celebrate, settled down his brother, but the entire family was pelted with drinks until they left. Terrible was also sent to the back to calm down the crowd, but returned to get his hair cut (doing some himself) and thanked the fans. In the locker room, Rush said he didn’t care about the boos and they just made him stronger, while Terrible said he didn’t lose tonight, but just won more fans and it’s not over with Rush.

Don’t have an attendance number, just some guesses. I guessed 12,000 looking at the pictures around middle of the show. People who were there are saying 80%, which would put it at 14,000. There was said to be some sections that did not fill up (the blue section on the floor.) It was a not a sell out, and CMLL thought they could get one out of this show.

The actual poster for Heroes Inmortlaes is online. Somehow, I typed in the date wrong; it should be October 7th (Sunday). The Copa Pena looks like a twelve man match, not teams, but the exact format is not stated. “Tommy Boy” is a mishearing of “Atomic Boy”, which makes for a really good mixed match. No mention of Sexi Star as a special referee, but no mention of referees at all so we’ll see.

AAA tapes it’s first show in a nearly a mouth this Sunday. It’ll be nice to have something to talk about.

The Gladiatores say Latin Lover is in the hospital, recovering from an appendix removal surgery.

AAA uploaded the Copa Rio Nilo Konnan vs Perro Aguayo vs Cien Caras match that aired before TripleMania. Hopefully this will mean they’ll continue uploading material.

Estrellas del Ring mentions someone is selling a near complete digital collection of Lucha Libre magazine (1050 issues) on a USB stick. I really should get that, though no price mentioned always makes me concerned.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Mil Mascaras defending his IWA titles versus Gran Markus in 1977 (which will definitely be a better match the Hijo del Solitario one) and Coloso Colosetti.

Lucha Libre in Japan

09/15 NOAH: Ricky Marvin b Bobby Fish, Super Crazy TLD Eddie Edwards.

09/15 NJPW: Low Ki & Averno [O] b Mascara Dorada [X] & Bushi

Averno & Mascara Dorada tag matches from 09/07 and 09/08 are online. Sure seems like whatever has stopped Japanese videos from turning up has started to get fixed, great news for those fans.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 09/21/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Hombre Bala Jr. & Super Halcon Jr. vs Bobby Zavala & Disturbio
2) Triton vs Raziel [lightning]
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Rey Cometa, Valiente vs Niebla Roja, Puma King, Virus
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Prince Devitt vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila, Taichi
6) Máximo, Rush, Shocker vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Último Guerrero

Tiffany was pinned and made the challenge in the women’s match, but is oddly not in the rematch. Overall, they decided to just go with build up trios instead of the matches they seemed to be setting up last night. Maybe they expect a drop off.

Lightning match looks real good, as does match 4.

Terrible still champion, CMLL Puebla on US TV, IWRG live?

CMLL (MON) 09/10/2012 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Fuerza Chicana, Policeman, Siki Ozama Jr. b Ares, Centauro de Fuego, Saurón
Centauro de Fuego’s first match since April.
2) Gallo, Leono, Metálico b Apocalipsis, Cholo, Nosferatu
Gallo replaced Soberano, won in his debut.
3) Amapola, La Seductora, Princesa Sugheit b Lady Afrodita, Luna Mágica, Marcela
Amapola led her team to win, challenged Marcela for a title match for next week.
4) Virus b Fuego [lightning]
5) Mistico, Titán, Valiente b Ephesto, Euforia, Mephisto
A much more successful match for Mistico this time.
6) Terrible b Diamante Azul [CMLL HEAVY]
Seconds were Comandante and Mistico. Terrible kept his title.

I want to make fun of Amapola & Marcela having another title match. I can’t. After all the bad women’s match of late, I want that to be the only women’s match they do.

As you might have noticed from the earlier video post (or can check out in full on LuchaWorld), CMLL has started airing Arena Puebla in the US. It turned up this Sunday on the Estrellas TV network. The network is the same deal as LATV, broadcasting on local (usually digital) channels, but it’s different in that every network seems to be on it’s own schedule. Here outside Chicago, it aired on Sunday from 4pm local to 6pm, and it sounded like that was generally the time elsewhere. Last week, it was listed on the programming grid as “Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre” (same as the LATV show), but the channel grid was off by an hour. It is not on the grid from my local channel right now, but the announcers were hyping this Terrible vs Diamante Azul as airing on the show this weekend.

(As with other stations, there’s no mention of CMLL on EstrellaTV’s website, and no programming grid.)

As far as I know, Puebla will continue to air on TVC Deportes with a different production crew, as has happened the last few times Puebla has popped up on 52MX. Two different production crews covering Arena Puebla, what a thing. This would bring a total of 9.5 hours of televised CMLL each week, and another 2.5 hours on the web, though some matches are being shown twice. One of CMLL’s main revenue sources seems to be “selling TV rights to

If that’s not enough TV for you, IWRG says their functions will be broadcast live, though they give absolutely no details beyond that. In the past, the Gladiadores have done live radio broadcasts of IWRG shows, but those have been rare this year.

Fuego en el Ring has In Memoriam’s full name as “José Manuel Campos Ornelas”. They also mention Barbaro beat Smaker in a pairs match on Sunday’s card (via foul), then challenged him for a title rematch. It doesn’t seem in the cards yet.

Today’s CMLL changes are only in the segunda, where the original segunda of Camaleon, Molotov, Sensei vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, and Inquisidor is now Bengala, Molotov, Tigre Balnco vs Artillero, Inquisidor, and Super Comando. That’s four subs, though they did make the change on the website and on the preview. This show is almost all guys who will not be working Friday’s Anniversary show.

AAA announced they’ll be taping on 09/28 in Arena Naucalpan. That’s a Friday night, which usually means no Thursday night IWRG (and TVC Deportes will be using one of the Sunday tapings.) Crowd have been great whenever AAA tapings in Arena Naucalpan. Lineup will probably be out early next week.

LuchaWorld has Prince Devitt vs Volador Jr. and Rush in an eight man tag from 07/29, just before the G1.

Lucha Libre in Japan

NJPW announced Mascara Dorada, Averno and Felino would be heading to KAIENTA DOJO (which I confused with Michinoku last night) from 09/20-09/23. Dorada & Avenro will be off the NJPW shows for that stretch, and have a singles match on one of the show. They’ll also have a singles match on NJPW’s show at US army base, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be doing a title match.

NJPW has an ongoing relationship with KAIENTAI DOJO, much like the one they have with CMLL, so it’s interesting to see the three groups working together and it’d be nice if it led to more. There are plenty of guys in CMLL who would do well in Japan in but are too far down the depth chart to get a serious run in NJPW any time soon and need a smaller promotion to have a chance. Triton, for example, has a slim chance of making a FantasticMania show and no more than, but would be work great as the lucha guy in KAIENTAI DOJO.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 09/16/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Oro Jr. & Robin vs Akuma & Guerrero Negro Jr.
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Triton vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Super Porky vs Black Warrior, Misterioso Jr., Olímpico
4) Sagrado vs Tiger [lightning]
5) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Prince Devitt vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Taichi
6) Atlantis & Diamante Azul vs Felino & Mr. Niebla [CMLL TAG]
Atlantis & Diamante Azul are the champs

Third straight Sunday Arena Mexico show. They haven’t drawn especially well, but that never stops CMLL. If you’re looking for a title match they could run next week, the semimain could set up a rematch for the trios titles or (gasp) Rojo & Escorpion challenging Devitt for his title.

Seems like a slightly more full show than usual – that segunda would be a tercera most weeks, and nearly a semimain on some recent Tuesdays. Sagrado/Tiger feels like it should be lower, but it lets them run the three TV matches together.

This is the sixth lightning match for Sagrado in the last two months, out of twenty one total. That’s 28%, or 35% if you take out the women’s matches. No one else has appeared more than twice. Sagrado, human dividing line, has beat Niebla Roja & Polvora, and lost to Mephisto, Rey Escorpion, Euforia. That’s neatly a group of guys who are midcarders and guys who are near the top. Which group is Tiger in?

CMLL (SUN) 09/16/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Yaki vs Gran Kenut
2) El Divino & Sky Kid vs Èvola & Thunder Boy
3) Black Metal & Virgo vs Espectrum & Rey Trueno
4) Esfinge, Gallo, Smaker vs Exterminador, In Memoriam, Maléfico
5) Hijo del Fantasma & La Sombra vs Mr. Águila & Vangelis

Vangelis in a main event! (This is not a strong rudo side.)

Note none of Rey Cometa, Puma King, Rush and Terrible are on these four cards. Maybe they’ll hold them off until next Friday?

DTU (SUN) 09/23/2012 Unidad Deportiva Fortin de las Flores, Veracruz
1) Hades, Halcon Infenral, Infierno Negro vs Angel Negro, Sombra Negra, Vengador
Josaga trainee match
2) Lucky Boy & Niño de Ébano vs Angel Del Misterio & Extreme Boy and Kaleth & Lanzeloth
3) Hacker, Jhonky, Jorque Quebrada, Slayer Pack vs ?, Angel Del Futuro, Caballero Blanco, Spider Boy
Angel de Futoro’s team represents Josaga
4) Hormiga vs Flamita, Eterno, Principe Halcon, Triblal, Rocky Lobo, ?
mystery person is an international. Listed as Lucha de Alto Impacto; may be for the vacant Alto Impacto championship
5) Arange De Plata, Pequeno Cobra, Sexy Star, Terremoto Negro vs Black Fire, Crazy Star, Nino Hamburguesa, Paloma Rouse
6) Paranoiko & Rebelde Punk vs Casanova & Perro Mocho Jr.
7) Argos & Semental vs Ciclope & X-Fly and Drastik Boy & Pesadilla

Consejo’s debut in the promotion.
