05/16 Arena Mexico (Mr. Aguila, Rayo de Jalisco, Super Crazy appear)

CMLL (SUN) 05/16 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, Cesar]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío IIApocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, MarcelaLa Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Yeska
3) Metro, Rush, ValienteArkangel de la Muerte, Cancerbero, Raziel
4) El Alebrije, Histeria, ManiacoBrazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Toscano
5) La Sombra DQ Psicosis II

Tercera was said to be very good. So was the show, overall.

In the semimain, Hector Garza behaved as usual of late, turning on his partners to give the other team the win. This time, the other team was Los Indepedentes, and Garza raised their arms after the match. Not clear if Garza has joined them.

Sombra took the first fall, Psicosis took the second. Sombra was heading for the rope flip moonsault for the third fall win, when who should run in but Mr. Aguila. He was joined by Mascara Ano 2000 & Universo 2000, and all four beat down Sombra. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. made it five. He seemed to support the independents, but when Universo went to give Sombra the Black Hammer, Ray0 smacked his old rival with a guitar and cleared the ring of the invaders. Sombra & Rayo hugged, so Rayo is back on the side of CMLL. People in the building saw Super Crazy standing with the Independentes group after they were run off, but CMLL has omitted any mention of him.

It was just last night, thinking back about how CMLL wanted a leader for the independents, that I started thinking about how Mr. Aguila should come back to CMLL. He’s not the star level to make it work, but he was very good at the tail end of his CMLL stint and he seems wasted in the Perros. I had to look up lineups to check that he was still there, because he really has been underutilized: Charly Manson vs Mr. Aguila would’ve been much better than Charly Manson vs X-Fly (because it was, last time!), and they would’ve only missed out on doing a hair match no one actually cared about it. I think KrisZ and Alfredo both came up with this same thought independently, because we all want to actually see Aguila more often.

Aguila coming to CMLL is not a big a story as Aguila leaving Perros del Mal. Everyone who’s turned up here has not been back in Perro’s promotion and this won’t end up different. It’s more painful, because Mr. Aguila is less a hired hand and more a member of the organization. Only Perro Jr. and Damian 666 are believed to be actual employees of the promotion, but Aguila was one of the guys who split CMLL to form this promotion and probably knows as much as any one of what’s going on there. That Aguila decided it was a good time to get out is a very bad sign for the long term future of this group. Like, we could actually have a “will the Perros del Mal still exist by the time that PPV airs” conversation, and not be 100% silly about it. I have no idea if Perro is willing to go to CMLL or AAA (or if CMLL or AAA is willing to take him), but I do know his leverage is quickly eroding.

Rayo de Jalisco Jr., I’m not so enthused about it. Not too surprising. At least Blue Demon Jr. will be happy – he complained to the press that Arena Mexico can’t really be the Cathedral of Lucha Libre if they don’t have Mil Mascaras, El Hijo del Santo, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. or Blue Demon Jr. wrestling there. Seemed like a guy out of touch with what lucha libre is in 2010, but it sure seems like he had people who agree with him.

I don’t think we’re getting a lot of Rayo. In fact, I’m pretty sure of it. CMLL vs Independents has gone on Monday Arena Puebla shows and Sunday Arena Mexico/Coliseo shows, but that’s still no more 3/4 matches a week, which isn’t a lot for anybody to get on (especially . They’ve run in elsewhere, but they haven’t yet appeared on the big Friday night shows.

SLP, GDL, AAA red carpet, Groon, lineups

CMLL Juniors (WED) 01/13 Auditorio Miguel Barragan [KrisZ]
1) Amapola & Princesa Sujei b Dalis la Caribeña & Lluvia
2) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Hijo del Fantasma b Dragon Rojo Jr., Ray Mendoza Jr., Sangre Azteca
3) Místico & Negro Casas b Héctor Garza & Mr. Niebla [Relevos Increíbles]

KrisZ notes Mendoza was hurt in the semimain, and that’s why he was off on Friday.

CMLL (SUN) 01/17 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Serverus b Enrique Vera Jr.
2) El Divino & Thunder Boy b In Memoria & Titanio
3) Asesino Negro & Drago b Magnum & Samurai
4) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Infierno & León Blanco
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
6) Brazo de Plata DQ Terrible

Terrible bled from the nose from a Porky shot in the second fall. Terrible ended up fouling Porky for the loss. What an odd ending to this feud.

Once again, Magnum & Samurai fell apart as a team. Not sure who’s turning rudo, but they seem at the breaking point.

AAA’s red carpet premier was this past Friday (the official release is still not for a week), so there’s another set of articles about the movie.
AAA has their own recap of the red carpet. One of the strange about the movie is the character of La Parka Jr.’s younger brother, as just a regular kid. The idea surely is to have a character the kids can identify with, but it seemed to me like an easy way to introduce a new luchador coming out of the movie; there’s only one. AAA mentions new wrestler Lasser Boy made an appearance at the premier and has a role in the movie, so maybe I’ve just accidentally spoiled a twist in the movie. (There feels like three or four I’ve gone out of my way not to mention.)
Marisela Pena says she’s like AAA to work with Guillermo del Toro for another movie. Aim high. This article says the video game is now due out in August. If we keep getting updates on it, it’ll never come out.
La Parka Jr. does not feel he’ll be a movie star like John Cena, because it’d be tough for him to be a Marine. Apparently it was tough for Cena.
Fabi Apache did not know she was in the movie until she saw the movie. She’s the only luchadora in the movie. I bet Mr. Niebla has no idea. Article notes Fabi was wearing a cap, because she just lost her hair.

There’s an article in the Arizona Republic about WWE vs Lucha Libre. It’s 95% word for word the same article that ran in USA Today, except for an added paragraph about the Republic trying to contract people and getting turned down. I didn’t know that sort of reprinting was legal. For a new take, this column says lucha libre needs to go back to a technical style, like Black Shadow, Matematico, Jerry Lawler and Killer Kowalksi. Jerry Lawler?!?!

Record has a feature length interview with Groon XXX about his career. He says he tried joining Rey Misterio Sr.’s school, but Misterio said he’d never make in the business. Groon instead went to Monterrey to train with Humberto Garza, and blames Garza for rushing him into the ring too soon and says his leg injury in 2001 was a big part of it. Groon says his bookings and pay dropped after he worked hard to return, and he saw they were preparing someone to replace him, so he decided to leave. Groon says he was successful in CMLL – “I am a ticket seller, always have been” – and didn’t want to ruin that by appearing too often, so he’s not stayed with CMLL. Groon says he began “doing things a young athlete should not”, specifying too much alcohol as causing pancreatic issues, which almost caused his death. Groon returned to AAA to prove he was the better, felt he did it after three shows, and didn’t want to be stuck in the third match fighting – he’s a star.

Aguila Solitaria, EMLL star in the early 90s, is now a car mechanic and detailer.

CMLL sent Horus & Aquaris to the new exposition for 101 Llaves y Lances. Not exactly a high star power meeting.

Cesar looks over this week’s lineups, disputes Volador from getting counted as from Monterrey.

El Manana profiles 30 year vet Marvick

SuperLuchas has a report on Lucha Libre in Chile.

SuperLuchas #347 has interviews with Rey Misterio Jr. & Dr. Wagner III. Inside, there’s also an interview with Marco Moreno of IWRG, who says they’re working on a third TV show (!), they have big plans for March, and they’d listen if CMLL called. I’d be happy if the second TV show still had new episodes.

Ohtani’s Jacket catches up with some more recent IWRG, and will be oh so thrilled when he reads this Thursday’s main event.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 01/21 Arena Naucalpan
1) Epidemia vs Volaris
2) Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota vs Dinamic Black & Imperial
3) Brazo Jr., Brazo Metalico, Daga vs Avisman, Gringo Loco, Hijo del Signo
4) Solar I, Suicida, Zatura vs Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samoth
5) Negro Navarro vs Angelico [SALVADOR AMERICAS]

Uh, yea. Can I make a joke about Hijo del Diablo wearing USA gear one week and being gone the next week without being terrible impolite? Not sure.

IWRG (SUN) 01/24 Arena Naucalpan
1) Máscara Magnífica vs King Drako
2) Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Eragon, Hijo del Pantera, Zatura vs Alan Extreme, Gringo Loco, Hijo del Signo
4) Brazo de Plata & Brazo de Plata Jr. vs Fuerza Guerrera & Juventud Guerrera and Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan and Máscara Año 2000 & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [IWRG IC TAG, semifinal]

JUVI! I can’t believe I forgot about Juvi, that’s up there with forgetting about Dre. You can tell it’s been a while since he’s been around, because I’m actually excited to see this.

indy (SUN) 01/24 Coliseo Tulancingo
1) Artikuz & Rocky Lobo vs Amnesia & DK
2) Chalapa, Príncipe Ketzal, Rex vs Amo de la Noche, Lalo Lokuras, Toro Deguanoro
3) Piloto Suicida, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Rayo del Ring vs Pesadilla, Super Crazy, Taz el Feroz

Not really that interesting on it’s own (and the color codes aren’t much good on indy stuff like this), but Super Crazy has quite the weekend. Silas Young in Berwyn, Illinois on Friday, CIMA, Quackenbush and Jigsaw in Chicago on Saturday, and Rayo de Jalisco himself on Sunday (and he might be promoting that show for all I know.) I don’t think anyone else can possibly have those three days. Tulancingo is a 4:30 show, so I hope he’s getting an early flight out.

CMLL (SUN) 01/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Meteoro vs Skaxy
2) Astaroth & Saturno vs Acertijo & In Memoria
3) Hierro & Palacio Negro vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Metro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Cancerbero, Pólvora, Raciel
5) Shocker & Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero & Último Guerrero

Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Guerrero as a tag team? Could that work? Maybe. If I told you that semimain would be a semimain two years ago, or even a year ago, you would not believe it.

Strange that the Magnum/Samurai stuff is dropped, or maybe it’ll be added yet.

indy (SUN) 01/24 Coliseo Tulancingo
1) Artikuz & Rocky Lobo vs Amnesia & DK
2) Chalapa, Príncipe Ketzal, Rex vs Amo de la Noche, Lalo Lokuras, Toro Deguanoro
3) Piloto Suicida, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Rayo del Ring vs Pesadilla, Super Crazy, Taz el Feroz

01/14: Perros, IWRG, GDL, Mexico, Dos Jr. staying in CMLL

PERROS (SAT) 01/10 Centro de Convenciones, Madero, Tamaulipas [the Gladiatores]
1) Guerrera Negra, Lince, Payaso Vagabundo b Black Snake, Pandillera, Pastor Diabolico
2) Arana Maligna I, Arana Maligna II, Black Master, Disturbio b Konami, Pesadilla, Violento Jack
3) Cerebro Negro, DJ Skull, Sadico b Bulldozer, Darling Boy, Yessi-K
4) Super Crazy & X-Fly L Damián 666 & Mr. Águila and Scorpio Jr. & Zumbido [losers advance]
5) Super Crazy b X-Fly [hair]
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. DQ Ciberneticoel Hijo del Perro Aguayo

Yes, a DQ in the main event of a Perro show. Cibernetico & Perro recalled that they were friends and ripped off Wagner’s mask. Damian and Aguila came out to help beat hiim down, and Super Crazy made the save to set up a tag match next time thru. (This seems to be the standard match they’re building to on these shows.) Triangle matchw as a hardcore brawl. Crowd looks half full, but that’s a big building.

IWRG (SUN) 01/11 Arena Naucalpan [the Gladiatores, SoloLuchas]
1) Avisman b Imperio Azteca
2) Eragon & Galactik b Anticristo Jr. & Nemesis (IWRG)
3) Black TerryCerebro NegroDr. Cerebro DQ Coco BlancoGemelo Fantastico IGemelo Fantastico II
4) Trauma ITrauma IIZatura b Oficial 911Oficial AK47Oficial Fierro
5) FreelanceFuerza GuerreraHijo de AnibalPendulo b ArlequinPierroth IITesuya BushiVeneno

Freelance replaced Multifacetico in the main and probably regrets it. In the second fall, he tried a dropkick to the floor, connected, but still hit his head hard off the mat and went into seizures. Sounds like a very scary situation; SoloLuchas compares it to Oro’s death. He was taken away on a stretcher, and I have not seen an update on his condition. Match focused on Veneno/Fuerza and they made challenges after the match.

New tecnicos Traumas beat the IWRG trios champs thanks to their partner, who got 911 with a ‘rana. 911 might have gotten his shoulder up in time, there was a post match arguement about, but the Oficials are defending their titles anyway.

Cerebro Negro fouled one of the Gemelos. The other Gemelo fouled Negro in revenge, but only the tecnico was caught. Second man always pays the price.

After being swept by Imperio Azteca a couple weeks ago, Avisman returned the sweep the other way. I’ve been thinking, I need to start working sweeps in the listings up there, but I don’t know of a good abbrevation. “S”? “St”? I don’t know if that’s clear enough. Swept itself isn’t really that long, but DQ Sweep/CO Sweep is.

CMLL (TUE) 01/13 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
6) Angel de Oro & Mictlán b Satánico & Semental
7) Héctor GarzaLa SombraMark Corleone b AtlantisEuforiaÚltimo Guerrero

Tecs took the main event clean, Hector getting UG to build to the trios match here. Article mentions this was Mictlan’s debut in GDL. I could not believe that – he’s been in CMLL for two years – but sure enough, it’s true. Well, it’s “Mictlan”‘s debut, anyway.  I wonder if they kept him away since he’d been wrestling unmasked in GDL (as Vaquero I) before starting as Mictlan?

CMLL (TUE) 01/13 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Pegasso & Rey Cometa b Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Dr. XHooliganLoco Max b Ángel Azteca Jr.Fabián el GitanoTony Rivera
3) FlashMáscara PúrpuraStuka Jr. b Shigeo OkumuraSkandaloVangelis
4) Black WarriorDragon Rojo Jr.Sangre Azteca b Mascara DoradaSagradoValiente
5) Blue PantherDos Caras Jr.La Máscara DQ TerribleTexano Jr.Villano III

Yay, Dos Caras Jr. actually appeared.  Dos went on Tercera Caiada and said he’s signed with CMLL for 4 years, and he’d have a better position than he would in WWE. I have no trouble believing that, but we knew that months ago and this still got dragged out.  The bottom line is Dos’ not going to WWE, he’s staying in CMLL, and I have no idea what they’re actually going to do with him but he gets to be in a lot of meaningless main events like this one. V3 fouled Panther for the DQ.

Poder Mexica is still undefeated in Arena Mexico (though they’ve lost elsewhere.)

ESTO’s article loses major points by talking about the “tremendous cold spell”. It was in the 50s there yesterday, and I was driving thru a blizzard this morning. WEAK.

CMLL announced Arena Puebla’s Fan Appreciation day (the monthly cheap ticket show) will now be on Saturdays, starting with February 7th. Not sure if that means they’ll be running two shows on those weeks. They have run shows on Saturdays and Mondays (and Thursday and Monday) in the past.

Ovaciones has a big interivew with Pierrothito about his mask win. He says it’s special, but also spends half the interview challenging Mascarita Dorada. They mention that Pierrothito will be wrestling in Arkansas from 01/22 to 01/25, then McAllen, Texas in the middle of February. There’s lucha libre in Arkansas? (Casino show, has to be.)

Ovaciones also features yet another Arturo Rivera column. Too bad he’s trying to make up for lost time when there’s absolutely nothing going on with AAA. 2/3rds of the article is going thru the matches on the next taping (Sunday) and teasing new foreigners in the Legion without naming names. He does mention that Rey de Reyes is supposed to be in Ciudad Madero.

Big AAA news: they added a profile page for Rio Bravo. He’s the masked guy in Poder el Norte, but of course you knew that.

Informador has a long career retrospective with Atlantis, focusing on his start, his mask match with Villano 3 (Atlantis says he was losing that one) and his many accomplishments.  They mention he had 43 defenses of the NWA Middleweight Championship, and I think 41 of those were all in the same title reign in 2.5 year span. That means he was defending the title every 3 weeks for 30 straight months. There are titles today that go 30 straight months without any defenses, and a lot Atlantis defenses were in the main arenas.

Over on Televisa Deportes’ site, they’ve post their first lucha content in a while: Felino’s wishes for 2009. He does look for more for Pesta Negra (which hasn’t teamed up together much), but more so looks for good things for his nephews Tiger Kid and Puma King (Felino says they’re wearing cat gear because they like their uncles, and they don’t want to be yet another Junior, hmmmm) and his wife, Princesa Blanca (4 straight Friday shows! Turning ruda does pay off.)

The Katharis lucha libre exhibit is extending it’s run until January 25. They’ve had 30,000 visitors.

The Lucha Libre Expo people already have a (bare) website up for this year’s edition; it’ll be May 1st thru the 3rd. Not sure if it’s too soon to note there’s a CMLL logo but no AAA one. Four months is plenty of time to change. (thanks to Mr. Reyes)

A recap of Monday’s action at the January Leon fair includes 3 minuntes of video action. The article mentions the new setup is hurting the shows – they’re essential on an outdoor orchestra stage and the people are too far away.

Guerreros del Ring #173 has Sangre Azteca on the cover, and an interview with Hijo del Santo on the inside. There’s also a feature on Ultimo Guerrero’s new gym/CMLL lucha libre school. That is a school worth attending.  I’d take the spinning classes.

Villano III is now selling his merchandise thru SuperLucha’s website. It makes more sense for people to work together for things like this rather trying to do their own online store  (but then, it usually makes more sense for a promotion to do it for them.)

On the other side, Box Y Lucha is making log in – to a new account that doesn’t seem at all connected with the message board account? – just to view the lineups for the week. The free info the promotions are giving to them to promote their shows can only be viewed if you sign up for something, and I don’t think everyone’s going to make the same I effort I did just to find out the WFS lineup (Monsther vs Black Terry in a huuuuge 12 man tag). Is the internet at 2001 in Mexico? And how many years is that ahead of other things?

Kcidis posted a drawing of Abismo Negro.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches the torneo and the main of the 01/01 El Toreo Tribute show and likes Dos Caras Sr.’s matwork. This reminds me – somehow, I wrote 2000+ words about an indy show and neglected to mention that Canek & Silver King will be on the next Cicero show.  I don’t know if that helps.  Anyway, at least one of the El Toreo tribute shows this week in Neza and Lopez Mateos is supposed to air on TVCDeportes.

two quick notes from today’s Wrestling Observer

link is here, but that should only work for subscribers, and you should subscribe to get all the details. This is just to head off the second hand misunderstandings.

  • Perro Jr. and CMLL are NOT on good terms. Perro Jr. and Perro Sr. wanted to take over booking and Perro Jr. was going to run his own shows to build him up as an outsider, but the booking arrangement fell apart in the Lagunero upheavel (seems like Perro was the indepndent guy who too much booking is focused on that they were complaining about), and now Perro, Damian and Aguila are true free agents. AAA’s top guys don’t want Perro taking their spots, and Perro’s only willing to go to WWE if they take his partners too. Aguayo is talking about running his own promotion with TV Azteca, but IWRG reupping their deal today with them and WWE having SD! on the network may preclude it.
  • There IS one more spot open in WWE – Super Crazy has quit, unhappy with how (little) he was being used

03/03: Mexico results, lineups, IWRG, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 03/02 Arena Mexico [ova]
1) Hooligan & Ramstein b Danger & Trueno
2) Leono, Metro II, Virus b Loco Max, Nitro, Okumura
3) Felino, Sagrado, Ultimo Dragon b Eclipse, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b Heavy Metal, La Mascara, Volador Jr.
5) Alex Koslov, Marco Corleone, Rey Bucanero b Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000
6) Mistico b Perro Aguayo Jr.

Perro dominated the first fall, and was on his way to winning the second when he yanked off Mistico’s mask, getting DQed. Mistico got a new one, and rallied back, getting a pinfall when the ref was down, and later getting La Mistica for the win. Ovaciones says we could see the hair match at the Dos Leyendas show, March 30 – so they’ve pushed it back another week?

La Mascara and Eclipse got hurt in their matches. Ovaciones recap hinted they were going to try Marco/Universo again next week.

CMLL (FRI) 03/09 Arena Mexico Lineup
1) Valiente, Molotov vs Ramstein, Apocalipsis
2) Virus, Leono, Mictlan vs Okumura, Ohara, Dr. X
3) Blue Panther, La Mascara, Maximo vs Misterioso II, Ephesto, Sangre Azteca
4) Dos Caras Jr., Lizmark Jr., Volador JR. vs Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Olimpico
5) Mistico, Rey Bucanero, Alex Koslov vs Black Warrior, Averno, Mephisto
6) Marco Corelone vs Universo 2000

Non title match. Make sure he’s got his plane ticket!

CMLL (TUE) 03/06 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Espiritu, Karisma vs Vaquero, Cobalto
2) Starman, Super Nova, Tiger Kid vs Polvora, Super Comando, Artillero
3) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel, Hooligan, Loco Max
4) La Mascara, Satanico, Sagrado vs Mascara Ano 2000, Pierroth, Emilio Charles Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr. vs Halloween, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila

That would be Kid Tigers’s Coliseo debut, I think.

CMLL (SUN) 03/11 Arena Coliseo Lineup
1) Danger, Truneo vs Messala, Caligula
2) Lady Apache, India Sioux, Luna Magica vs La Nazi, Rosa Negra, Medussa
3) Leono, Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera vs Arkangel, Mr. Mexico, Mogur
4) La Mascara, Mictlan, Ogun vs Pierroth, Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura
5) Marco Corleone, Dos Caras Jr., Alex Koslov vs Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

They gotta be doing the hair match next week, right?

Super Crazy was visiting, here at Arena Mexico and on the IWRG show on Thursday. Speaking of…

IWRG (THU) 03/01 Arena Naucalpan
1) Comando Gama b Celestial
2) Ave Fenix & Kid Tiger b Bestial & Dr. Maldad
3) Aki, Fabian el Gitano, Yamato b Fantasma de la Opera, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Black Terry, Kraneo, Zandokan b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida
5) El Dandy, Electroshock, Heavy Metal b Bestia Salvaje, Pierroth, Veneno

Semimain had rudos beat the trios champs in a non-title match, but they’re actually setting up a Black Terry/Cerebro Negro title match there. Third match was said to be particularly good, which must mean it was 83% awesome and 14% Fabian el Gitano.

on Guerreros del Ring:
unmasked: Mr. Aguila, who turns out to be Papi Chulo
02/25 Coliseo: Leono, Sagrado, Virus vs Arkangel, Mogur, Nitro
02/16 Mexico: Eclipse, Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000 vs Blue Panther, Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas
New bonus: a super annoying scroll on the bottom of the screen where people (and by people, we mean 12-15 year old kids) can text message comments (90% about Cena, Undertaker and Batista)

Either this week or next week is my last week of this, I think, unless I figure out something.

12/21: Guadalajara, IWRG

hype picture for Mistico in Pachuca

CMLL (SUN) 12/17 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results
1) Neon, Virgo b Flama, Imposter
2) Azazel, Exterminador DQ Danger (Guadalajara), Destroyer
3) Golden, Idolo, Metal Blanco, Metatron b Infierno, Magnum, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
4) Angel Blanco Jr. b Fabian el Gitano [WWA MIDDLE]
5) Alex Koslov, Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000 b Leon Blanco, Maximo, Negro Casas

In the segunda, Destroyer bopped Exterminador on the head with a pot. I was sure the tercera was originally announced as a mask match, but it’s on Christmas instead. No report from Tuesday as of yet, but there’s a post on box y lucha saying that Rayman got hurt due to the top rope breaking.

IWRG (THU) 12/14 Arena Naucalpan Results
1) Black Stone b Rey de Corazones
2) Black Jaguar, Comando Mega b Greco Jr., Puma King
3) Cyborg, Dr. Karonte, Estallido b Ave Fenix, Freelance, Kid Tiger
4) Hijo del Diablo, Pierroth Jr., Veneno b Astro Boy, Cerebro Negro, Volador Jr.
5) Alex Koslov, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy b Felino, Negro Casas, Negro Navarro

I think every single rudo side won. That never happens.

IWRG’s running a twelve man mask/hair tournament tonight. The losers from two blocks of six will face in a stakes match.
Block A: Negro Casas, Veneno, Xiblava, Olimpico, Dr. Cerebro, Coco Rojo
Block B: Black Warrior, Felino, Cerebro Negro, Sagrado, Mr. Niebla, Coco Verde

I’d guess one of the Cerebros is going down.

Sangre Azteca talked about his title win in La Prensa. I’ve seen La Mascara hyped as having 24 or 25 defenses; we’ve got 11 recorded on the luchawiki, including the 3 previous shots Sangre was talking about. I think it’s more likely La Mascara’s actually defended the title that many times and we don’t know than them making up a defense number. That also means, somewhere, someone’s keeping track of these defenses.

While in Tulancingo for a lucha show yesterday, Super Crazy received a local award for achievement in sports.

Box Y Lucha #2797 has Corelone and Kenzo bald.
