Mephisto vs Mistico, Tonga Twins vs Ola Azul, Pequeno Cage of Death

CMLL (MON) 11/05/2012 Arena Puebla [El Sol de Puebla, Porra Fresa]
1) Black Tiger & Lestat b Fuerza Chicana & Saurón
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Bengala, Leono, Soberano Jr. b Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Súper Comando
Super Comando replaced Zayco. Tecnicos take 1/3.
3) Hijo del Signo b Pegasso [lightning]
Signo won in 7 minutes.
4) Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus b Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skándalo
Isis was with the Tuareg. Cancerberos took 2/3, with Virus and Isis fighting after the match.
5) Euforia, Misterioso Jr., Vangelis b Diamante, Máximo, Rey Cometa
Euforia replaced Mephisto. Rudos took 1/3, Euforia beat Maximo.
6) Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Tama Tonga b La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Mistico
Mephisto replaced Ephesto. Rudos took 1/3, Mephisto yanking Mistico’s mask to beat him. Mistico challenged Mephisto to a singles match next week. A fan gave Mistico a mask after the match, but the rudos ripped that one up too.

The El Sol de Puebla calls Tuareg vs Cancerberos “one of the more stale rivalaries”, while the Porra Fresa recap notes the Puebla fans do not get into rudo vs rudo feuds.

CMLL (TUE) 11/06/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Camorra & Ramstein b Freesbe & Robin
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr., Triton b Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
Triton replaced Angel Azteca Jr. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Dark Angel, Marcela, Silueta vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Tiffany
Silueta replaced Dallys on Monday. Tecnicas took 2/3, Silueta & Dark Angel beating Seductora & Tiffany.
4) Delta b Virus [lightning]
Delta won in 6:57 with a reinera.
5) Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma b Euforia, Olímpico, Vangelis
Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Mephisto, Tama Tonga, Terrible b Atlantis, Blue Panther, Diamante Azul
Mascara Dorada was originally announced, then replaced by Blue Panther. Tama & Terrible beat Atlantis & Diamante Azul, then challenged for a tag title match next week.

They’re doing the tag title match! Not sure why it got switched from Sunday or Tuesday (or maybe I was wrong all along, possible.) This changes the Azul vs Tonga match on Sunday a bit.

CMLL (TUE) 11/06/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [SuperLuchas]
3) La Máscara, La Sombra, Mistico b Felino, Psicosis, Rey Escorpión
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Pequeño Warrior L Shockercito, Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Halcón, Aereo, Astral, Fantasy, Pierrothito, Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia [cage, hair]
Cage was a death trap. Halcon escaped, after the three minute fighting period, then the problems started. Olimpico escaped when a part of the cage gave way and trapped his arm in the cage. Oficials had to pull him free. Mercurio, Aereo and Fantasy followed him out. Astral attempted to do a moonsault off the top of the cage onto those who escaped, but got caught in the cage and fell very badly. Medics quickly rushed him away. Mercurio was also hurt here, and needed a strecher. Pierrothito bleeding (which may have not been an accident) before he left. Demus was given all sorts of moves and thrown off the cage while trying to escape multiple times. He did escape, but could not stand up and was strechered out. Pequeno Violencia’s back was bloody as he climbed out. That left Shockercito and Pequeno Warrior for the single fall final, and Shockercito won with a reinera after a bit of time. Pequeno Warrior lost his hair.

Post match, Shockercito said he may not be a big star, but he a big person in Pequeno Warrior.

There’s a minis match on Friday – Astral, Fantasy, Ultimo Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeno Olimpico, Pierrothito – and we might have a better idea of who made it out of this cage match in one piece by who’s actually in that match. It’d be nice if CMLL just explained their situations, but it’d be even nicer if anyone explained the deal with Angel Azteca Jr.

La Magnifica, the QPPLC women’s winner who never turned up on AAA’s TV and is never mentioned when they talk about last year’s winners, is part of AAA’s Guadalajara stop for this year’s QPPLC talent search contest in a women’s trios match. Magnifica is a Guadalajara native. Maybe the reason she never turned up in AAA is she simply had second thoughts about relocating?

Ohara pinned Dragon in the 1st, Ohara unmasked Dragon in the 2nd for a DQ, Dragon beat Ohara in the third

Eita returns to Mexico on Sunday, replacing Canis Lupus in the WWS Welterweight Championship match. That’s an incredibly loaded tournament, where Relampago is the only questionable guy in the mix and the other guys are great. Lupus moves up to the semimain, taking the place of Hijo del Solitario (who seems done here before he even showed up.)

This is an Acapulco equivalent of the Herdez show in Arena Mexico, a free show being paid for by the local sponsor. Both shows are more packed than a usual Friday night card, the sponsor paying for ‘all the stars’, but neither include Rush. They both take place during the time NJPW is running it’s heavyweight tag team tournament tour, so I suspect Rush is heading over to participate. Not sure about his partner. It should be announced this weekend on NJPW’s PPV.

Alebrije, Bestia 666, IWRG

villano gym/photo by Black Terry Jr.

It’s 05/05, so there’s a bunch of “luchadores – aren’t they craaaaaaaaaaaazy?” news stories. I’ll spare you. As always, this is a mostly US invented holiday; it seemed not to be mentioned much in Mexico. If you’re looking to do anything in Chicago, I do recommend Lucha Va Voom (though I’m doubtful I’ll be making it.)

Alebrije thinks his squad will win the national trios titles this Sunday because they’ve got such a tremendous experience advantage. He’s slightly concerned Misterioso will betray himself, Cuije and Olimpico out of loyalty to CMLL, but knows Misterioso really wants to be trios champ after going for these titles so many times (w/a Guapos U team and Poder Mexica particularly) without ever winning it. This will be Misterioso’s 12th known shot at these titles and he’s never won.

Mi Lucha Libre has a good interview with Bestia 666, about growing up the son of Damian. He does confirm he was previously Leo.

Black Terry Jr. posted photos of the IWRG trainee show and video of Dance Boy, Comando Negro, Dark Devil vs Dragon Fly, Hijo del Pantera, Triton (part 1, part 2, part 3) and at least part of the cibernetico. Looks like the Villano Gym won the rematch, but no full results yet.

Shockercito hasn’t been on any CMLL show in 3 months. That’s usually enough for my roster script to declare you’ve left the promotion but he is scheduled to be in Guadalajara this Sunday. There must be something going on with the minis, because Bam Bam has been gone for most of the same three months, and Mascarita Dorada has been MIA for long stretches too. One missing could be an unreported injury, and some of it is other matches being pushed out for Forjando un Idolo, but three people missing at once may mean there’s something more to it.

There’s a title match tonight in Torreon for the vacant ECW World Light Heavyweight Championship. Someone bought a replica belt.

Forjando un Idolo: Guerrero Maya vs Metal Blanco. CMLL still hasn’t officially said how the tournament brackets work, but my assumption is:

QF: Diamante vs Fuego
QF: Angel de Oro vs Guerrero Maya
QF: Hijo del Signo vs Polvora
QF: Rey Escorpion vs Delta
SF: Diamante/Fuego vs Angel de Oro/Guerrero Maya
SF: Hijo del Signo/Polvora vs Rey Escorpion/Delta <- 3 rudos, all on the same side of the bracket!
Final

PdM (SUN) 05/29/2011 Plan Sexenal
1) Tony Rivera, Turbo, Zumbi vs Bestia 666, Halloween, X-Fly
2) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Super Crazy [cage, hair, mask]

Poster here. Cage match usually means only one person is losing the hair or mask. Really, the Perros del Mal’s utter dedication to the least satisfying possible main event finishes makes it hard to believe anything interesting is going to come out of this. There’s still at least 50% chance someone not in match gets dumped in the cage.

Shockercito beats Mini Damian, GDL, La Park, La Fiera

CMLL (TUE) 06/02 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, Avellaneda]
1) Bracito de Oro, Electrico, FantasyPequeno Universo 2000, Pequeno Violencia, Pequeno Warrior

3) ShockercitoPequeño Damian 666 [hair]
4) Averno, Ephesto, MephistoBlue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr.Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Shockercito took the first, Mini Damian the second, and Shockercito the third. The barber is up to 109 haircuts. Mistico got Negro with a casita.

CMLL (SUN) 05/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [record]
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Mistico pinned Negro here too.

SuperLuchas has a summary of a couple recent interviews with LA Park. Park says he could’ve gone to WWE, but they wanted him to cut down to 220 lb and he’s at 275. Also, he ran into La Parka Jr. at a gas station in Nuevo Laredo one time, and beat him up.

AAA interviews La Fiera, who is not dead. He says he’s been thought dead at least three times, so he’s thinking it’s his new gimmick. His explanation for why people think he’s dead is he moves around a bit, so when people don’t see him around any more, they think he’s passed. I don’t think that’s all of it.

Dos Caras Jr. has been a rudo for about two months now, so it’s about time for him to form (yet another) rudo group. He’s thinking about forming one named Ola Roja.

Panama’s Sandokan, a long time local rival of Anibal, was honored for his career.

Cotorreando con Box y Lucha has an interview with Super Calo.

SuperLuchas has Santo giving Kato Kung Lee the donations for their sponsored raffle. Not many tickets were sold.

Cesar wonders if anyone but the most hardcore fans actually care about legends shows like the one Luchas 2000 is doing.

CMLL FRAM (THU) 07/16 Arena Mexico [Record]
1) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei vs Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela
3) Blue Panther, Hector Garza, Shocker vs Dos Caras Jr., Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
4) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs ?, Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero

Was it the FRAM or the Record show that turned up on TV last year? That question mark in the main surely was Rey Bucanero, which means his injury came as surprise to at least whoever figured out this card. Wonder if they’ll just turn Toscano again and put him back on the Guerreros to fill Rey’s spot.

04/01: Maximo gone, GDL, Solidaridad, Monterrey

Maximo’s hair loss to Texano was his farewell: Reforma (via Jazzo) has him leaving CMLL to rejoin the independents. Maximo repeatedly complains CMLL is totally focused on one guy and only that guy, and everyone is unhappy because they don’t get as much, though he doesn’t actually mention this one guy’s name.

He means Mistico, I know. (Maximo also said the same thing on a radio show.) I do wonder at the thought process here – if you annoyed at being a big enough star, you’re going to go to promotions who have little or no TV? That’s what matters in 2009. Maximo seems pretty clear that he’s going independent and not to AAA, but I’m not sure AAA would be looking for his kinda of character right now.

India Sioux hasn’t been on any CMLL card we know of since mid February and nto in Arnea Mexico since December. She could keep working here, but she’s not really working much at all.

CMLL (SUN) 03/29 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Mongol b Milenio
2) Katana & Malefico b Angel del Mal & Infierno [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
3) Palacio Negro & Samurai b Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
4) Boomerang & Gallo b Acertijo & Mr. Trueno [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
5) Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca b Hector Garza, La Sombra, Shocker
6) Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr. b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Assuming I’ve got it right, and who really knows anymore, these are the standings going into the final round

Team
7: Boomerang/Meteoro & Gallo
6: Palacio Negro & Samurai
4: Katana & Malefico
3: Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy
2: Acertijo & Rey & Mr. Trueno
2: Angel del Mal & Infierno

The leading team faces Katana & Malefico, who still have something to play for if second place matters. I’m still not sure first place matters. Negro/Samurai face one of the trailing teams,, Angel del Mal & Inferino, which one would presume they will win.

LA Rosa (SUN) 03/29 Arena Solidaridad [RFC & josedjesus]
1) Baby Fox, Sky, Turbina b Guerrero Griego, Neon, Titanik
2) Bella Karina, Galactar, Martha Villalobos, Mini Gato Volador b Linda Star, Mini Hator, Mongol Chino Jr., Sexi Psicsis
3) Diluvio Negro I, Estrella Dorada, Gato Volador b Apolo Estrada, Mongol Chino, Monje Negro Jr.
4) Antifaz del Norte, Olimpico, Scorpio b Diluvio Negro II, Intocable, Zumbido
5) Aventurero, El Hijo Del Santo, Tinieblas jr. DQ Fuerza Guerrera, Hator, Super Parka

Hator took Santo’s mask for the DQ and they talked hair vs mask after. Zumbido replaced Juvi, still out. RFC says 5000 fans.

CMLL (TUE) 03/31 Arena Mexico [ESTO, SuperLuchas, Avellaneda @ box y lucha]
1) Artillero, Inquisidor, Super Comando b Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
2) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Astro Boy Sensei b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Vangelis
3) Shockercito b Fire [hair]
4) Maximo, Mictlan, Shocker b Felino, Heavy Metal Okumura, Mr. Niebla
5) Atlantis, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr.

Shockercito took falls 1 and 3 clean. Rudos challenged for a tag title shot after their main event win; sounds like it’ll be Atlantis/Rey as the team next week for Fan Appreciation day. Sunday’s main event appears to be a Marcela vs Rosa Negra mask versus mask match, which should fill Arena Mexico to the brim.

AAA trumpets Alex Koslov in ROH. (CMLL does not mention half the trips people go on.) Looks like the lucha particpation matches are going to be

– Bryan Danielson vs Alex Koslov (!)

04/04

– Kevin Steen, El Generico, Jay Briscoe, Magno vs the American Wolves, Chris Hero, Incognito

Bobby Lee is interviewed about his career. He’s currently commissioner in Leon, and complains Santo cheated to beat him. In a unusual occurrence of links working in tandem, DJ Espectro talks to Bobby Lee Jr., suspected to be the original Ice Cream. DJ Espectro also asks for more visitors leave comments; sometimes, I’ve personally found that’s a better idea in theory than it is in practice.

DTU interviews Chris Hero about coming in.

Lucha libre will be on CSI. Don’t care.

Maska Lucha points out some Dos Caras inspired baseball caps. I still need to get an Artillero one.

LuchaWorld has Robert on AAA’s 07 Pena show, and CMLL 10/27 and 11/03.

AAA (MON) 05/04 Centro Banamex

3) ? & Vampiro vs Chessman & Extreme Tiger
4) Alex Koslov, Rocky Romero, X-Pac vs Kenzo Suzuki, Silver King, Zorro
5) ?, Charly Manson, Mesias vs Electro Shock, Konnan, Ozz

Looks like status quo is still the way to go. Let’s be honest: I don’t care who the mystery people are.

CMLL (TUE) 03/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara

3) Chico Che, Freelance, Turbo b Black Terry, Black Thunder, Capitan Muerte
4) Head Hunter I, Head Hunter II, Veneno b Arlequin, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Pierroth II
5) Fuerza Guerrera b Oficial 911 [IWRG IC WELTER]

Fuerza retains the title. The Pierroth/Arlequin alliance fell apart, and a green Arlequin (Arlequin Verde?) showed up to set up a tag feud.

indy (FRI) 03/27 Arena Neza [proyeccion luchistica, Mr. Reyes]
1) Dr. Trauma & Iron Black b Lider & Super Chiva

5) Head Hunter I & Head Hunter II b Fuerza Guerrera & Scorpio Jr.
6) Damian 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween b Dr. Wagner Jr., El Hijo Del Santo, La Park

Santo had Perro in the camel clutch, but the Perros broke it up and fouled him for the win. Muertes and Cocos agreed to a mask match.

CMLL (FRI) 03/27 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Flash, Leono, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Ultimo Dragoncito b Pequeno Violencia [lightning]
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara
5) Dos Caras Jr., Mascara Dorada, Shocker b Averno, Mephisto, Terrible
6) Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Villano V (announced here as Rey Mendoza Jr.) beat UG clean. Tecnicos took the second in straight falls, DQ in the first for throwing Dorada over the top rope (that only seems to happen to Averno & Mephisto teams) and Shocker & Dos got submissions in the second. Dorada is said to have looked good. Pseudo Poder Mexica won again and demanded a title shot next week.

Ultimo Guerrero tells el Siglo de Torreon he was satisfied with the mask match and wants Villano IV next.

Remember that WWA Middleweight Title match between Angel Blanco and Olimpico, which didn’t seem to make much sense because Mistico seemed to still have the belt. Well, Olimpico is upset, because he won and never actually got the belt. WWA belts = jokes.

WWE’s Rikishi talks about wrestling in Chile.

Terra TV has been running clips from interviews with Santo on their site all week: on Todo x el Todo, indepedent wrestling, CMLL, why he loves lucha libre, and tougest mask matches.

Proyeccion Luchistica also has an interview with female indy wrestler Corazon de Fuego Jr.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 10/13/07 CMLL and Arena Coliseo Monterrey 2004.

CMLL (TUE) 03/31 Arena Mexico

4) Maximo, Mictlan, Shocker vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

One week build to hair match. That’s IWRG-rific.

CMLL (FRI) 04/03 Arena Mexico
1) Angel Azteca Jr. & Starman vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Blanca

5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [CMLL TRIOS]
6) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Everyone not here is in GDL. They probably should put the title match in the main event, but I don’t think they see anyone besides Garza as a star.

01/11: Hora Cero, GDL

CMLL (SUN) 01/11 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, CMLL, WiLlYeR @ elMartinete, cesar @ box y lucha]
1) Pegasso & Rey Cometa b Calígula & Méssala
2) Euforia & Nosferatu b Flash & Stuka Jr.
3) Blue Panther, Mark Corleone, Shocker b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.
4) Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero b La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr.
5) Shockercito L Pierrothito, Mascarita Dorada, Último Dragoncito, Pequeño Warrior, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki, Nino de Acero, Pequeno Ninja, Fantasy, Electrico, Cosmico [mask, cage]

Wrestlers had to stay in the cage for seven minutes, but all the tecnicos just left at the start of the match to confound the rudos. They were ordered back in the cage, and Dorada and Shockercito ended up doing dives off the top of the cage as their way of getting back in. Pequeno Ninja ended up leaving early again and didn’t seem like he realized it, because the ring announcement to allow escape was just after, but the referees explained it to him and he climbed back in and then climbed back out later.

Order of escape went Cosmico, Electrico, Fantasy, Pequeno Ninja, Tzuki, Pequeno Olimpico, Pequeno Universo 2000, Pequeno Black Warrior. This left it 3 tecnicos (Dragoncito, Dorada, Shockercito) vs Pierrothito. Dragoncito took off and escaped, and Shockercito seemed to be next, but Dorada did a “spectacular” series of moves to escape before Shockercito, leaving him with Pierrothito. Those two wrestled to a fall, and Pierrothito made Shockercito give up to a bridging reverse facelock. Shockercito is Javier Cortes Sanchez from Villanueva, Oaxaca, 8 years a professional wrestler (so he’d wrestled a little over a year before taking this gimmick.)

Shockercito unmasked photos: CMLL, box y lucha. This match seemed to be on track for 52MX, but CMLL.com’s preview of the show says “EVENTO GRABADO PARA LA TV POR TELEVISA CANAL 9 GALAVISIÓN”, so perhaps it WILL be on the main show? Maybe they can save the tape for the next time they plan on running a notPPV.

Warrior blatantly foul kicked Mistico, but got away with for the semimain win. They have a singles match next Sunday.

CMLL.com’s recap mentions Euforia and Nosferatu’s win may have set them up for a third shot at the tag team titles. Attendance is said to be good – maybe 75%?

CMLL (SUN) 01/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
4) Mascara Dorada b Dragon Rojo Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara b Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Garza pinned UG clean in a third, then demanded (and received) a trios title shot for next Sunday. Dorada pulled Rojo’s mask before pinning him for the semifinal win.

Dos Jr. is still listed as working tomorrow in Arena Mexico. We’ll see!

In Monterrey, Caifan is hurt again. This time, it’s an abdominal injury, which will require three months of rest. He’s had nothing but bad luck the last year.

Box Y Lucha #2905 has Mistico conquering Japan and Chessman explaining his first wrestling payday was a chicken pie. Article teasers include Bam Bam responding to Freelance, Super Fly saying the only real Fuerza Aerea, Hector Garza saying he’s not copying Alex Koslov and memories of Aguila India.

SuperLuchas looks back at Silver King’s past failures and success in Tijuana.
