12/22 (1): Puebla, Monterrey, Coliseo, IWRG, bye bye Ciber

I’m splitting this right down the middle for sanity sake. (And so I can take a 15 minute break before typing up lineups.)

CMLL (MON) 12/15 Arena Puebla [eric0891 @ el martinete]
1) Centella de Oro & Legionario b Karisma & Sauron
2) Asturiano, Hijo del Faraon, Pegasso Xtreme b Policeman, Semental, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Blue Panther, Mictlán, Valiente b Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Shocker

and that’s how we get to today’s title match, of course.

CMLL (THU) 12/18 Arena Monterrey [RFC]
1) Angel Dorado Jr., Mascara Dorada, Máscara Púrpura b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dragon Rojo Jr., Virus
2) Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible b La Mascara, Mark Corleone, Maximo
3) Diluvio Negro II L Blue Panther and Tiger Universitario [hair]
4) La Sombra, Mr. Niebla, Valiente b Difunto II, Diluvio Negro I, Último Guerrero [semifinal]
5) Averno, Misterioso II, Volador Jr. b Místico, Rey Hechicero, Sangre Azteca [semifinal]
6) Último Guerrero b Difunto II [mask]

Let me see if I get this all right (thanks KrisZ)

Main event 12 man mask match took the form of a battle royale to determine four trios teams, with the person who took the pin moving on to a mask match. (No captains, I guess.) That was UG in the first match and Rey Hechicero in the second. However, Rey Hechicero suffered a knee injury (attributed to Misterioso.) I believe what happened is they had a quickie battle royale with the four guys left, with Difunto getting beat by Mistico and dumped into the mask match. Which he lost. No name listed.

Blue Panther took Diluvio Negro II’s hair.

La Mascara and local Angel Dorado Jr. ended up taking Hector Garza and Dos Caras Jr.’s spots. As I’ll get to later, Hector probably had had knee surgery, causing the recent disappearing act. Would it hurt CMLL to actually announce this sort of thing?

CMLL (SUN) 12/21 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Hijo del Faraon & Pegasso b Camorra & Semental
2) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera b Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Loco Max
3) Mascarita Dorada, Nino de Acero, Shockercito b Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Mascara Dorada, Máximo, Sagrado DQ Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Skandalo
5) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Marco Corleone, Shocker, Toscano

By everyone’s estimation, Dorada, Pierrothito and the minis stole the show. Focus was on Dorada vs Pierrothito, with Dorada picking up the pin (though it may be disputed.) Dorada wants a shot at the Lightweight Title, Pierrothito wants a mask match (ha! you know, I think they could main event with that…) but they’re getting a trios rematch next week. Considering how long it took for Nosferatu and Infernal to get their rematch, we’ll get a title rematch for this one in March.

Terrible replaced Ephesto, which worked because they seem to be doing a program with him and Marco off Leyenda de Azul. here, Terrible got the pin after grabbing the ropes.

DQ in the semimain was for Dragon Rojo fouling Maximo. Which isn’t very tecnico. Skandalo replaced Black Warrior. Pegasso may be lower than Super Fly is in AAA, but he’s winning.

IWRG (SUN) 12/21 Arena Naucalpan [Ovaciones]
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. DQ Head Hunter I & Veneno
5) Arlequin L Oficial 911, Scorpio Jr., Fuerza Guerrera, Tetsuya, Cerebro Negro, Pierroth II, Zumbido, Máscara Año 2000, Multifacético [cage, hair]

Arlequin lost his mask and his hair within 2 months. Indy lucha libre, ain’t it special. 911 gets credit for the win. DQ in the semimain was referee violence, I believe.

CMLL (SUN) 12/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [mt 1, MT 2]
4) Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno, Satánico b Casanova, Gallo, Neutrón
5) Dos Caras Jr., La Máscara, Volador Jr. b Averno, Felino, Negro Casas
6) Místico b Mr. Niebla

Not totally sure of the result of the fourth match. Post match, Gallo again challenged Satanico to a mask vs hair match, and Satanico warned him to be careful what he asked for. That (non-mask/hair) singles match is scheduled for tomorrow and Gallo is so getting pwned. Clean wins in the top two matches.

In other news from the building, they’ll now be following the Mexico City Tuesday/Sunday pattern of really cheap tickets the first Sunday of every month, starting on 01/04. Children tickets are 10 pesos anywhere, adults are 30 pesos in some of the seating. June will be the 50th anniversary celebration for this arena, so maybe another big show will take place then.

AAA (SUN) 12/21 Salon Sagitario [AAA]
1) Fabi Apache & Mari Apache b Cinthia Moreno & Sexy Star
2) Alan Stone & El Elegido b Escoria & Mesias
3) Cibernetico & La Parka Jr. b Konnan & Zorro

AAA’s site bills this as Cibernetico’s farewell. He’s not on the lineups for this week (so far!) AAA never writes about spot shows, make of it what you will.

They said the show had a good turnout, and it looks that way from pictures elsewhere. Mesias and Sexy Star didn’t get along with their partners.

11/27: updated Perro lineup, Loco/Mictlan, Satanico to GDL

PERRO (SUN) 12/07 Sala de Armas de Ciudad Deportiva [ESTO]
2) Black Spirit, Súper Nova, Turbo vs Black Thunder, Cerebro Negro, Head Hunter I
3) Enigmatica & Esther Moreno vs Flor Metlica & Rossy Moreno
4) Intocable & Super Crazy vs Damián 666 & Mr. Águila
5) Cibernetico, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, LA Park vs Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., ?

Updated lineup for the debut show. Latin is now not listed, and Intocable replaces Juvi. I guess Super Nova is out of CMLL. Tickets are 80 pesos ($6 US)

CMLL says the 12/02 Arena Mexico main event is Mictlan vs Loco Max in a hair match. They’ve been feuding for three weeks, hadn’t even noticed.

(MT) Satanico has taken over as head trainer for Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. In that article, he’s teaching both the beginner and advanced classes, with the aim of improving prospects from the region. Satanico notes Guadalajara has a long history of producing great wrestlers (and training them; he’s taking over Gimansio Diablo Velasco after all) but has been surpassed lately by places like La Lagunera. Satanico thinks the talent is there, pointing out Mascara Dorada’s ascension, but also notes the public wasn’t happy with the matches of late.

I presume Satanico is moving to GDL to coach there full time. Not sure who takes off his Mexico City training.

While in Guadalajara, Mistico also talked to MedioTiempo’s reporter, and complained about the medical care he received after breaking his collarbone here four months ago. Actually, he complains about the utter lack of attention – Mistico says no one helped when he fractured his collarbone, and no one from the arena helped him after the show. A friend bought him a plane ticket, helped him change clothes in a taxi and got him back to Mexico City where emergency surgery was performed, because he had no place to go in GDL. Without naming him, Mistico’s critical of Apolo Dantes and the way he’s running the building.

Ultimo Guerrero is very free. He feels better with the Guerreros, but isn’t sure if the company will put him with them, with the Laguneros, the Pesta Negra, or some super combination of all three. If he doesn’t have a clue, the rest of us are completely lost. UG says they’ll try everything and see if anything works. UG also said the door is open for Toscano to return to the rudo side if he wants, and he’s happy to have Shocker back since UG considers him his #1 rival.

Santo predicts Lucha Libre Madrid will be a success.

AAA previews Pirata Morgan vs Elegido in a chain match and Mesias & Chessman teaming again, both on this weekend’s taping.

SuperLuchas looks back at Cibernetico in LLI. Ovaciones talks to Mil Mascaras about his career.

Yet another Santo in Spain interview.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 08/05/06 AAA and CMLL GDL 08/16/06 and IWRG 07/30 & 08/06 IWRG.

06/03: Coliseo, Accion, FSE

CMLL (SUN) 06/03 Arena Coliseo [Dr. Frink @ box y lucha]
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II b Artillero & Zayco
2) Brillante, Trueno, Valiente b Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Super Comando
3) Dark Angel, Diana La Cazadora, Lady Apache b Amapola, Medusa, Princesa Sujei
4) Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Volador Jr. b Satanico, Texano Jr., Virus
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

The semifinal set up a Maximo/Satanico hair match of all things. I’m not so down with that. Tarzan Boy did indeed work as Toscano, I thought maybe you guys were making a joke till I saw the thread on it at Box Y Lucha.

Dark Angel was a surprise replacement (for Tiana) on the SHIMMER shows this weekend as part of their title tournament. Sadly, she still can’t win a title belt, losing in the semifinals with the best match of the taping. (I am so annoyed with myself for neglecting to go.) Her matches will appear on Volume 11 and Volume 12 of their DVDs, and it goes without saying Super Luchas had a photographer there.

TripleMania is expected to be July 15 at Toreo de Cuatro Caminos.

(North Jersey Herald) Mil Mascaras and Dos Caras drew 150 to a show in New Jersey.

Accion

CMLL: Leyenda de Plata semifinal. This looked just okay in highlights. Oh no, not a gutbuster on the floor. Aguila looked slow and Sagrado seemed afraid to screw something up. The finish – a suplex in the ring supposed to be reversed to a small package (I guess – it wasn’t really close) looked very not so good.

AAA: Lider/Crazy/Tiger vs Ozz/Cuervo/Scoria. They’re very much into showing the slow careful setting up of spots – there’s so much positioning for the pinfall that they speed up the footage. I think Extreme Tiger probably really really wanted to get that legdrop in.

CMLL on FSE #43
05/27 Coliseo: Máximo, Mictlán, Tiger Kid DQ Skandalo, Texano Jr., Virus (w/special commentator Amapola?)
05/27 Coliseo: Black Warrior, Goto, Ohara b Heavy Metal, Leono, Valiente
At home with Misterioso. They’re apparently doing two weeks of this, and I have no idea why.

Hirooki has his belt this week, which is good because I was worried that title tournament was some sort of mass hallucination.

05/20: Accion, FSE

Accion highlights…

CMLL: highlights of LdP cibernetico, with Stuka and others stealing the show more than Aguila’s win – especially when Aguila’s win is the slightly screwed up double stomp. I think, if asked, Mr. Aguila would have no problem double stomping a man, but he was too caught up in doing it as the Aguayos do it that he over thought it. Like I’m over thinking this.

AAA: Cibernetico/Zorro vs “Six Pack”/Head Hunter I. That’s so so funny. Zorro’s graphic still has him in masked though he’s out of it here. I guess they want to keep the new guy strong, but wouldn’t have it looked a lot better if Cibernetico speared Waltman out of his shoes instead of just knocking Head Hunter back and down?

I have absolutely no idea why, but FSE moved up lucha libre from midnight to 10 pm EST. I don’t recall the listings saying this earlier in the week (though they obviously do now, because my TiVo caught it.)
05/13 Coliseo: Lady Apache, Luna Magica, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
05/13 Coliseo: Felino, Heavy Metal, Sagrado b Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II

The newest Wrestling Obsever Newsletter states the NWA is consideration using Psicodelcio Jr. & Incognito in a one night tournament to crown new NWA Tag Team champions. They would be very unlikely to win.

According to the newest Super Luchas, next Sunday’s tercera:
3) Starman, Texano Jr., Virus vs Felino, Maximo, Mictlan
should be
3) Satanico, Texano Jr., Virus vs Felino, Maximo, Mictlan

That’d make far more sense. I think the Mictlan/Infernales stuff is just working out that way based on card position and the lack of tecnicos, and isn’t necessarily meaningful of a pending issue, but they did seem to be heading in a Texano/Maximo or Virus/Maximo hair match direction before Maximo got hurt, and they could be picking up here. This is all a guess.

Both Ovaciones and Super Luchas have noted this weekend how Mistico being in the next week’s Leyenda de Plata cibernetico does not fit with the previously established rules. It’s fine for it to not fit, but CMLL’s got at least acknowledge there’s a change going on here. Still wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a midweek lineup shift, or even a Friday night one.

05/03: Queretaro, Liger, Monterrey, Mistico not in SLP

cmll

According to Ovaciones, Leono and Maximo will be out two weeks. Leono hurt his right elbow, Maixmo hurt an ankle.

CMLL (TUE) 05/01 Arena Queretaro Lineup [Knotty @ el martinete]
1) Alasthor b Furia Dorada Jr.
2) Drabek I, Drabek II b La Flecha, Lince [1, LLQ TAG]
3) El Corsario, El Toro b Espiritu Negro, Ozuno
4) Loco Max, Nitro b Mictlan, Satanico
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero b Olimpico, Tarzan Boy

Satanico turned on Mictlan, naturally. Show on the 15th will have a cibernetico with Stuka Jr., Super Nova, Maximo, Leono, Flash, and Astro Boy.

CMLL (TUE) 05/08 Arena Coliseo Lineup [CMLL Magazine]
2) Flash, Starman, Sensei vs Arkangel, Nitro, Jeque
3) Leono, Tony Rivera, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Ohara, Loco Max
4) Mr. Aguila, Damian 666, Halloween vs Sagrado, ?, Mictlan
5) Jushin Liger, Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero vs Dos Caras Jr., Hijo de Lizmark, Ultimo Dragon

Jeque lives! Also, Liger. (The ? is Maximo, but obviously no.)

According to this post (El Halcon), Mistico no-showed the SLP show yesterday and a riot ensued.

indy (FRI) 05/04 Arena Monterrey
1) Perla Negra vs Paty Rey
2) Indio Payutla & Mosco vs Dark Side & Sika
3) Cazador, Ejecutor, Tormenta Negra vs Puma de Plata, Relampago Azul, Zorro Plateado Jr.
4) Calaquita & La Parkita vs Mini Batman & Mini Killer
5) Black Power, Hijo del Diablo, Shu el Guerrero vs Angel del Amor, Azteca Warrior, Casanova

Note because they haven’t been running Friday shows previously.

Ovaciones also hypes up the Luchas 2000 show for this weekend.

A new arena has opened up Monclova, which they’re calling “Arena Monclova“. That must’ve been tough. They’re planning on twice monthly AAA shows along with boxing and other entertainment on other days. Judging from the picture, it’s not a building, just an open space with bleachers and chairs set up.

Univision has an article on Intocable, who’s apparently in one of their telenovals. The subtitle of the article is “El nuevo latin lover” and that’s very amusing.

04/24: Coliseo, Vampiro, Mass at Arena Mexico

Last night’s Coliseo show was an odd one. Someone felt like booking angles, which is bizarre for a Tuesday show.

CMLL (TUE) 04/24 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, cmll, DIOS @ box y lucha]
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II DQ Caligula & Messala
2) Brillante, Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera b Artillero, Hooligan, Super Comando
3) Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu b Felino, Mictlan, Satanico
4) Maximo, Texano Jr., Virus DQ Goto, Ohara, Okumura
5) Alex Koslov, Negro Casas, Shocker b Atlantis, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero

Alex submitted Atlantis in the main event. This is their fourth straight Tuesday opposing each other, and it sounds like it’ll be five, because Alex wants a shot at the NWA Light Heavyweight Title.

Maximo and Texano Jr. got ramped up for their big title defense on Sunday…by turning on each other! It looks like Maximo got a five man beating, with both Texano and Virus attacking him (which someone meant they won by DQ, but never mind.) No idea why – Ovaciones mentions “miscommunication”, and hints we’re already headed to a Virus/Maximo hair match. Sagrado/Texano/Maximo have zero chance of retaining the Mexican trios belts on Sunday.

In the tercera, Satanico returned to do rudo side on a permanent basis, betraying Mictlan and Felino to help his new students (Eufora and Nosferatu.) After the match, the Nuevo Nuevo Nuevo Infernales beat up Loco Max for good measure.

Caligula yanked one of the Tapatios masks. Stuka beat Super Comando.

CMLL (TUE) 05/01 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Milenio
2) Casanova vs Fraile de la Muerte
3) Idolo vs Mr. Trueno
4) Evola vs Danger
5) Leon Blanco vs Egipcio
6) Gallo, Magnum, Stuka vs Malefico, Mascara Magica, Toxico
7) Rayman & Vampiro vs Black Warrior & Eclipse

So he’s back as a tecnico. Good to know.

(El Porvenir) Arena Mexico is often called the cathederal of Lucha Libre. This Saturday, it’s going to be a stand in church. As far as I can tell from the article, they’re having a religion convention at the normal huge church in town. It wraps up on Sunday, but theyr’e not going to be able to hold Saturday mass there as a result, and so they’re renting out Arena Mexico. To cover the rent, they’re selling tickets to church – ringside tickets are 50 pesos ($4.55US). I hope service is randomly interrupted by a Mistico chant.

This means Arena Mexico will have an event three straight days (normal Arena Mexico, mass, special show on Sunday), and also three Saturdays in a row (mass, Luchas 2000, Toryumon)

AAA’s preview of Friday’s taping including Crazy Boy talking about extreme wrestling.

(Suburban Chicago News) About 1.5 hour away from me, in Waukegan, IL, the library will be celebrating Day of the Kid by bringing in Espectro and La Parkita (listed here as brothers) to talk about life as lucha libre wrestler. Those pictures sure look familiar.

(Beaumont Journal) Beaumont, TX’s first ever Cinco de Mayo festival will include some lucha libre matches; main event is Pentagon Black/Xochitl Hamada vs Sicodelico Jr./Miss Vicky. Tickets are $15-$25 for the whole event, including a music peformance which seems to be the main act. You can get the tickets around town, and at ticketmaster.com

El Sol de Tampico has a obit for wrestler Alejandro Montana.

IWRG’s site is still down. So is El Halcon’s.
