01/29: IWRG, Mexico, heavyweight returns, GDL lineups

IWRG (THU) 01/22 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Halcon 2000 b Comando Gama
2) Anticristo Jr. Comando Negro & Avisman b Eragon & Miss Gaviota
3) Demony & Xibalva b Chico Che & Goleador
4) Freelance, Multifacetico, Pendulo DQ Tetsuya, Toxico AAA, Veneno
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura [IWRG IC TRIOS]

Champs win again. DQ in semimain for Tetsuya pulling Multifacetico’s mask, and they’re teasing a singles match there. Demony got away with a mask pull in the tercera, taking Goledaor’s before pinning him for the win.

IWRG (SUN) 01/25 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Avisman b Galactic
2) Fenix, Jack, Miss Gaviota b Anticristo Jr., King Drako, Nemesis IWRG
3) Chico Che, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II b Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
4) Zumbido b Fuerza Guerrera
5) Freelance, Pendulo, Scorpio Jr. b Andy Barrow, Tetsuya, Veneno

Night of making title challenges. Gemelos and Chico want an IWRG Trios shot after beating the champs. Zumbido swept Fuerza (first fall was DQ for Fuerza’s excessive violence after winning the fall) so he wants a Welterweight shot. Even though Freelance and Tetsuya weren’t involved in the finish of the main event (Scorpio pinning Veneno), Freelance wants a hair/mask match and Tetsuya wants another shot at the lightweight belt. Tetsuya’s mask does not seem long for this world.

CMLL (TUE) 01/27 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco b Camorra & Inquisidor
2) Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Niño de Acero, Pequeño Ninja, Tzuki
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro IV, Valiente b Euforia, Nosferatu, Shigeo Okumura
4) Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca b La Máscara, La Sombra, Sagrado
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Rudos won the semimain again, so they’ve got a title match next week.

Ovaciones says Rayo de Jalisco, Universo 2000 and Mascara Ano 2000 are headed back in next month. :(

(Strong Style Spirit) Mephisto vs Mistico on NJPW’s 02/15 show will now be for Mistico’s CMLL Welterweight championship. Mephisto is probably still not a welterweight.

Diario Impacto has an interview with La Parka Jr. about his career, but they don’t actually have a permalink to the article. You can go to the Deportes section and look on the right side as you scroll down.

The Gladiatores also has interviews with Crazy Star and video interviews with the Traumas and last Oficials

CMLL (TUE) 02/03 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Angel de Mal
2) Virgo vs Valentin Mayo
3) Metal Blanco vs Infierno
4) Dark Angel & Goddess vs Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
5) La Nazi & Lady Apache vs Medussa & Sahori [ri]
6) Averno, Mephisto, Terrible vs Máximo, Mictlán, Shocker

Poor Lady Apache. You know, I don’t know which women is going to lose the cage match, but from watching those promos on Ras de Lona, La Nazi didn’t look too confident.

Updates the next few days may be irregular. I’m going to see if I can get some recaps set up to fill in.

09/29: Guadalajara, Monterrey, Coliseo

It sounds like wrestlers going on strike to protest TV Azteca airing WWE SmackDown on Friday may be more than idle chatter and have some substance to it. Something to watch this week, with the premire this Friday.

CMLL (TUE) 09/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Milenio b Relampago Azul
2) Virgo b Ebola
3) Samurai b Rafaga
4) Exterminador b Magnum
5) Flash b Infierno
6) Damián 666 & Mr. Águila b Leon Blanco & Stuka Jr.

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, Ovaciones]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Goddess, Princesa Blanca, Sahori b La Nazi, Medussa, Mima Shimoda
3) Máscara Púrpura, Tony Rivera, Valiente b Loco Max, Sangre Azteca, Satánico
4) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Águila
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone DQ Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero

Lizmark fouled Dos yet again in the main event.

In the tercera, Sangre Azteca played the part of Halcon Negro this week and surely regretted it. That picture over there is a still of a Valiente dive gone horribly wrong, and both he and Sangre were strechered out. The CMLL.com report says it was only a scare, but that’s pretty scary. This also overshadowed the angle they were running – Tony Rivera vs Loco Max is indeed on for a hair match next week.

This morning, there was a note confirming this on CMLL.com, noting Tony’s past long winning streak in these matches and Loco Max’s bad performance. It’s disappeared since about 11AM CST.

Ovaciones writes about the Halcon Negro situation. They’re under the belief Halcon Negro is actually supposed to show up each and every week and keeps no-showing.

CMLL (SUN) 09/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
4) Terrible & Texano Jr. b Máscara Año 2000 & Universo 2000 [OCCIDENTE TAG]
5) Gallo & Hijo del Fantasma b Malefico & Máscara Mágica [hair]
6) Blue Panther DQ Villano V

Panther had Villano in the armbar and V5 must’ve not been countering it this time because Terrible & Texano had to run in for the DQ. Gallo & Hijo de Fantasma did not lose their masks. Phew. It’s not like I was expecting the Dinamitias to win the tag team championships of the West (because, why?), but it’s still is surprising to see them lose any time they don’t have to at this point.

Atlantis has a new offical site at Atlantis.

(Mr. Reyes) Looks like the Oficials won the IWRG Trios title last night.

Al Filo del Ring has a Shocker interview from Guerreros del Ring (the magazine) – not a lot new: considers himself on leave with CMLL and desperately wants to go back, doesn’t like the AAA using the Guapo name but has no issues with the guys themselves – and one from Scorpio at his benefit show, where he hoped to return to the ring by Novemeber.

Aguila Solitaria would like to return to Arena Mexico for a few retirement matches.

Notimex has a story about Bolivia’s Cholitas.

CMLL (MON) 09/29 Arena Puebla
1) Astruriano, Centella de Oro, Tiger Rojo vs Fuerza Chicana, Mr. Rafaga, Toro Bill
2) Black Tiger, Blue Center, Legionario vs Fire, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
5) Blue Panther vs Villano V

Pierrothito brings the lightweight title back to Puebla! Also another Panther/V5 rematch and the trios champs teaming up in a non title match (though Ovaciones thinks we should expect a title match next week.)

Second on the card on Wednesday in
Nuevo Laredo this week: Spiderman vs Batman.

06/11: Coliseo, VIP, Monterrey, AOL

CMLL (SUN) 06/10 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones, superlucha]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Vaquero & Zayco
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Nitro b Fabián el Gitano, Metálico, Tony Rivera
3) Dark Angel, Diana La Cazdora, Luna Magica DQ Amapola, Poly Star, Princesa Sujei
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone DQ Averno, Mephisto, Sangre Azteca
5) Místico, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Damián 666, Halloween, Misterioso II

Misterioso II logically replaced Mr. Aguila – I don’t know why CMLL thought Aguila could work both this and Cinco Magnificos show – and Sangre fouled Blue Panther in the semimain. That’d be a fun feud, I wonder if Panther is still a middleweight.

VIP (SAT) 06/09 Roots Magic Club [Alvin @ el Martinete]
1) Cerebro Negro & Dr. Cerebro b Skayde & Turbo
2) Nino X, Super Muenco Jr., Super Nino b Black Heart, La Furia, La Mosca
3) Negro Navarro b Mano Negra and Ojo de Tigre I and Black Terry and El Dandy
4) Axxel, Leon Guerrero, VIP Negro b Coco Rojo, El Hijo de Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
5) Brazo de Platino, Negro Casas, Super Brazo b Il Barone, LA Park, Olímpico

Negro Navarro wins the 1st stage of the maestro tournament VIP is running. Black Terry was the runner up, which earns him another shot in the five man battle on the next show.

AAA (SUN) 06/10 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Euforia (Monterrey) & Mercurio b Panterita del Ring II & Rey Imagen
2) Mascarita Sagrada, Miss Janeth, Picudo b La Hechicera, Mini Histeria, Mosco de la Merced II
3) Angel & Billy Boy b Alan & Decnnis
4) The Mummy b Orus, Karis, Ramses
5) Charly Manson, El Elegido, Octagón b Antifaz del Norte, Aventurero, Hator

Rudo team fell apart in the main event.

indy (THU) 06/14 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [Siglo de Torreon]
1) Cadete de la Atlantida & Scriba Jr. vs Latino Jr. & Zaracatan Jr.
2) Centella Azul Jr. & Tigre Chong vs Moro Jr. & Pequeno Star
3) Angel del Oro & Sexy Libra vs Dulce Paola & Guerrero Inca
4) Sexy Piscis & Trueno vs Espanto V & Piloto Negro

That’s CMLL’s Trueno working the weekly AOL show.

(Box Y Lucha Foro) Danger says it was not him who video taped unmasked luchadores backstage with a cell phone. What he really needs right now is someone else to say it wasn’t him.

Magazine
* LUCHAS 2000 #372 has Espectro Jr. deciding if he’ll put up his mask and Mistico winning the LdP.
* Super Luchas #216 has Mistico winning the LdP. Inside, in the last notes column, the magazine notes that AAA isn’t (and shouldn’t) be happy about lineups being leaked. This includes the TripleMania one, which we’re still not sure of – everyone’s only using the original thread as source. I’m thinking the lineup is what AAA has down on paper, but they might not have all the foreign names confirmed at this point.

El Zocalo de Monclova has an interview with (masked) Mascara Ano 2000 and Universo 2000. Things have never been as good as the first couple years of the 90s when Cien had his mask match with Rayo and Mascara beat Anibal for his mask; it’s never like the old days. If this blog goes 50 years (and it won’t), I vow to just write cranky posts about The Old Times Were Better. Universo says he’s talking to two guys about possibly carrying on his name (it has to be two with this crew) – his daughters have no interest in lucha libre and he wouldn’t let them get in the business anyway.

There was also a press conference in Monclova before the first CMLL show there in some time, but the paper doesn’t appear to have results.

El Sol de Tlaxcala has an interview with indy wrestler Astro Aereo. He says he’s been wrestling for 10 years, trained by Tarahumara and is hoping to break into Arena Puebla.

04/12: Neza, Tijuana, Acapulco

CMLL

CMLL (THU) 04/05 Arena Neza [rudosneza @ thegladiatores]
1) Dark Debil, Piel Roja, Red Bull b Asesino del Futuro, Black Danger, Boazz
2) Mohicano & Mohicano I b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II [IC TAG]
3) Máximo & Mictlán b Emilio Charles Jr. & Misterioso II
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Shocker b Eclipse, Tarzan Boy, Universo 2000
5) Ramstein b Chac-Mol [mask]

The King Lives! Long Live The King! Chac-Mol is Arturo Varela from of Neza, 33 with 15 years spent as a wrestler. They did a rudo fan hair vs tecnico fan hair with the segunda, and the tecnico fan lived up to the stip when his team went down.

AAA (MON) 04/16 Gimnasio Municipal Irapuato [El Sol de Irapuato]
1) El Payaso & Motoraton vs Perro Callejero II & Rocoman
2) Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis vs Bobby Lee Jr., Krimen, Prisonero 13
3) Cinthia Moreno & Oriental vs Apache & Rossy Moreno [AAA MIXED TAG]
4) Brazo de Plata Jr., El Brazo, Super Porky vs Drake Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.
5) El Elegido, La Parka Jr., Zorro vs Abismo Negro, Antifaz, Mr. Niebla

MORA (THU) 04/05 Auditorio de Tijuana [KrisZ, The Gladiatores]
1) Thunder Boy, Thunder Mask, Thunderbird b Mandigo, Mazambula, Mozambique
2) Kimura, Ninja, Silver Star b Enfermero Jr., Pandillero I, Pandillero II
3) Depredador, Fobia, Inferno b Black Panther II, Black Spider, Hijo de Rey Misterio, Rey Misterio
4) El Hijo Del Santo & Latin Lover b Blue Demon Jr. & Nicho el Millionario

CMLL (WED) 04/11 Arena Coliseo de Acapulco [KrisZ]
1) Black Silver Jr., El Cholo de Tijuana, Hijo del Black Silver vs El Cholo, Hooligan, La Morgue
2) Sangre Azteca vs Maximo [MEX WELTER]
3) Alex Koslov, Marco Corleone, Shocker vs Misterioso II, Pierroth, Universo 2000
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Mistico, Rey Bucanero vs Averno, Mephisto, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Hijo del Lizmark vs Mascara Ano 2000 [mask, hair]

Gotta figure Lizmark Jr. won that. He’s not losing his mask and Mascara Ano 2000 exists just to lose his hair at this point.

CMLL (MON) 04/16 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Ares & Murcielago vs King Jaguar & Super Star
2) Espiritu Maligno, Karisma, Toro Bill Jr. vs Centella de Oro, the Tiger, Zigma
3) Dr. X, Skandalo, Toro Bill Sr. vs Astro Boy, Leono, Stuka Jr.
4) Atlantis, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy vs La Mascara, Maximo, Negro Casas
5) Damain 666, Halloween, Hector Garza vs Alex Koslov, Hijo de Lizmark, Rey Bucanero

The Observer says Ricky Banderas is headed into TNA once his contract with WSX ends. There’s also a story about TripleMania being perhaps moved to a new date/time.

There’s plenty of bloody Mistico pictures in the Box Y Lucha thread about his title win. Vampiro appeared at this show, and it sounds like he’s returning to this arena on 05/01.

Box Lucha 2813 has Solitario, LA Park and Dr. Wagner on the cover.

LA Park wants to win the masks of Villano III, Dr. Wagner, and El Hijo del Santo before he retires. Not only does that mean he’s never retiring, he’s going to be heartbroken when he finds out Villano III’s been unmasked for seven years. Park is talking about promoting in his hometown of Monclova.

An article in El Nuevo Diario says Jack Veneno is bringing a Mexican lucha libre show to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in July. Santo, Mil, and the Wagner brothers are among those listed.

ESTO has a Wagner/Chivas article here.
