04/20 Chilangamask/Tercera Caida results

2013-04-20_18-44-49_570

show was actually the other way

CHILANGAMASK (SAT) 04/20/2013 Arena GALLI, Villa Park, Illinois
1) Pentagono Del Infierno b Chris Castro
Chris Castro replaced Ripper. He came in with a thumb injury, which was the focus of the match. First attempt at the finish was screwed up, so Pentagon submitted Castro instead. Short match.
2) Mason Conrad b Matt KnicksGPAMojo McQueenAcid JazzOvirloadJason Gory [Tercera Caida International Cup]
Mojo replaced Emperador Azteca, while Knicks replaced Negrotistico (moved to a different match.) Elimination match, with eliminations going Ovirload, GPA, Acid Jazz, Matt Knicks (by Mason Conrad, betraying his usual ally), Jason Gory, leaving Mason Conrad as the winner of the big trophy.
3) Latin Dragon & Noriega b Facade & Negrotistico
Negrotistico replaced Jake Shining. Good match. Noriega caught a Negrotistico plancha, gave him a side slam, and Latin Dragon added a 450 splash for the iwn.
4) Kaientai b Zema IonExtreme TigerSamuray del Sol
One fall match, in the dark. Very good match, either too short or flew bye. Zema Ion demanded no one touch his hair during the match; Samuray both touched his hair, but used his hair spray (to keep his spikes up!) Extreme Tiger did his 450 splash to the floor on Ion, and Kaientai upset Samuray to get the win. Kaientai declared himself the greatest independent wrestler in the world. Others disagreed. Everyone came back out to sign autographs after the match

Arena GALLI is in an old shopping mall, as mentioned before. The shows I’ve gone to before have been in an unused store front. It makes for a cozy fit, but it has low ceilings and not much room at ringside, which limits guys from flying. They moved it for this show, putting the ring out into the atrium in between stores, giving them plenty of head room and space at ringside. There are no active stores in that wing of the mall and the bigger space worked out well. You had to use the back entrance of the mall to get in, but it was no problem from there. Show started about 40 minutes late because indy wrestling.

Pentagono on the left, Castro on the right. La Vaca was referee for whole card.

Only a four match show, and really almost a three match show because there was nothing much to the opener. Chris Castro worked hard at showing some personality, which is appreciated in a world with so many CMLL fighting robots, but he didn’t have a good night and this was not on the level of the other matches. Kind of surprising for lucha guys to be coming in from Mexico but the usual lucha libre crew almost not at all on the show besides Pentagono; a decent amount of that is no-shows. I would try not to miss a show to be aired on national TV, but things happen.

everyone advancing on Mojo

Seven man elimination match was about what you expect – a lot of moves, some good and some bad (you are close to the screen than Matt Knicks’ finish was to whoever he beat), people turning on each other, more dives because they had the room this show, and rapid fire eliminations at points. (I missed whatever it was that led to Conrad beating Knicks.) There were good ideas which didn’t go anywhere: everyone turned on Mojo at the beginning of the match, and kept throwing him back out of the ring every time he tried to get involved, until…he was just in the match and things moved on. I don’t think I’ve seen Jason Gory before. He’s a goth vampire (as opposed to some other kind of vampire – steampunk vampire?) who put a lot of time into his look, but looked good in the wrestling portion of the match. There were good parts, I wish Acid Jazz stuck around longer, but Mason Conrad came of as the best guy in the match and deserved winner.

Trofeo de Tercera Caida

Trofeo de Tercera Caida; Carlos the promoter is the guy on the left, winner Mason is on the right

There was an intermission between matches two and three. I picked up a couple old magazines from the merchandise. One had a story about a young man who had left AAA and was hoping to get into CMLL – some kid from Queretaro by the name of Cometa. Hope it turned out okay for him.

Bryce dancing, Noriega fighting the urge to dance

I don’t remember a lot about tag team match. My recollection is Latin was trapped in the ring for an extended portion of time, there were dives (including goods one from Latin Dragon & Facade) and then the Puerto Rician team finished the opposition off for the win, but I may even have it backwards. It felt professionally done. I write every time about how good Noriega is about doing the little things and he’s still good about that. I know this was the second best match on the show, and I know I can’t think of much to say about it.

Samuray, Kaientai, Tiger, Ion

Samuray, Kaientai, Tiger, Ion, bright light

The lights were turned out before the main event. I dunno why. I’m not sure anyone knows why. It may just be the mall’s lights automatically turn off at 9 for all I know. They stalled for time for a bit, and then we all just rolled with it. The entrance light and the one fluorescent lamp left on was enough to see, though it was weird. Everyone was working very hard in the main event, and the match was just on a different level than the rest of the card. I was the most struck by Extreme Tiger; I know TerceraCaida was recording the match, but this still was a show far away from home in front of a small crowd, and Tiger was working as hard as if this was TripleMania. I’ve poked fun at Extreme Tiger before and surely will again, but he impressed me with his effort here – and that was before he did a top rope 450 splash to the floor on Ion. Ion and Samuray were very sharp. I was least familiar with Kaientai – actually, to be more honest, Kaientai was a guy who I knew participated in extreme matches in Monterrey, but did not seem like a sure bet to work the style of match the other three guys were going to want to work here. And I was wrong about that; the other guys seemed slightly more athletic (and Ion and Samuray have faced each other many times of late, so they’re even quicker with each other), but Kaientai kept up with them and looked like he belonged – there were a couple well timed Shining Wizard kicks I can recall.

Match just had the metric ton of spots you’d expect. The only flaw was the finish feeling like it came out of nowhere. It wasn’t clear it was a single fall match until the finish, so I first thought it was just a surprising elimination and then thought maybe the referee had counted three when it wasn’t meant to be. The match wasn’t short – somewhere in the 12 to 15 minute range – but I could’ve gone for about five more minutes of near falls easy.

or, if they both had to be on camera, they grabbed a masked guy from the merchandise stand

or, if they both had to be on camera, they grabbed a masked guy from the merchandise stand

As mentioned, the Tercera Cadia crew was at the show. On some TV shows, the host just kind of shows up, reads his script, and a bunch of people behind the scenes running around to prop the host up. That’s not at all the case here – Bernardo and Jose were the entire show here, working hard the entire time. When you see this footage on TVC Deportes and see one of them doing an interview with someone, that means the other guy was the camera guy. They both filmed the entire show, did a bunch of interviews with the wrestlers, and were greeted by a fans of Tercera Caida. I got to talk to Jose a little bit and Bernardo briefly, and they were both nice guys, exactly how they seem on TV. It was good to meet them.

I didn’t stick around long after the show – I’d spent the day outside watching a minor league baseball double header and was pretty tired by this show was done. But it was a good time and I’m glad I got to see it.

Upcoming shows for me
05/03: Lucha Libre USA @ the Odeum – assuming tickets go on sale!
05/18: CHIKARA Pro @ Logan Square Auditorium

7) Texano Jr. b Blue Demon Jr. [AAA HEAVY]

6) Euforia, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. DQ La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Mistico
Sombra tried to attack Volador before the mach but ended up taking the worst of it. Rudos beat Mistico with what was supposed to be a press slam to a double gutbuster, but took a knee to the face. Tecnicos came back in a short second fall for the win. Final came down to Volador and Sombra, with Volador snapping, attacking referee Maya, and fouling Sombra for the DQ. Volador stormed off without saying anything post match, while Sombra challenged for a mask match. Crowd was much more reception to Mistico, cheering him over Volador, than they had been previously.

Heroes Inmortales live coverage

Today, I’ve got live coverage – or at least the best I can come up with – for today’s Heroes Inmortales show. We’ll also be talking about the CMLL on Terra internet feed, and probably whatever lucha airs on TV tonight. Heroes Inmortales results will appear on this page and over on twitter @luchablog, and we’ll be talking about the shows in a chat at the bottom of this page.

There is no PPV or stream of Heroes Inmortales. AAA’s Twitter account suggested there will be a surprise in regards to transmission - maybe it’ll be placed on YouTube like TripleMania? – but the only way to see AAA’s show tonight is to be in San Luis Potosi. AAA usually posts live results on their Facebook account (reposted to Twitter.) They often stop posting before the end of the show and don’t post complete results, but I’ll b e scanning Twitter to put together the best picture we can.

Heroes Inmortales is listed as starting at 5:45pm, but probably won’t until sometime later than that. Update: show did not start until 7pm.

AAA TV (SUN) 10/07/2012 Domo Centro de Espectaculos, San Luis Potosi
***Heroes Inmortales, 2012***
1) Mini Charly Manson, Mini Histeria, Mini Psycho Clown b Dinastía, Mascarita Dorada, Octagoncito
Mini Charly replaced Mini Psicosis.

2) Halloween & Mari Apache b Atomic Boy & Fabi Apache and Fenix & Lolita and Alan Stone & Jennifer Blake [AAA MIXED TAG]
Match was announced for vacant titles, but Alan Stone replaced Ultimo Gladiador and so the tag champs were reunited. Halloween replaced Gran Apache. Both may be explained on TV we haven’t seen yet. Sexi Star was guest referee, which was mentioned when the lineup was announced locally but treated as a surprise here. Halloween and Mari Apache won the titles, with Sexi and Gran Apache helping out.

https://twitter.com/Lucha_Libre_AAA/status/255110880558215170

3) Joe Lider & Vampiro b Abyss & Chessman [AAA TAG]
Abyss & Chessman came in as champs. Usual hardcore match. Vampiro pinned Chessman to win the title. Abyss was angry about the title loss and beat up Chessman.

https://twitter.com/Lucha_Libre_AAA/status/255115636592746499

4) Texano Jr. b El Elegido and Extreme Tiger and La Parka Jr. and Toscano and Daga and Héctor Garza and Juventud Guerrera and Zorro and El Mesías and Heavy Metal and Psycho Clown [Copa Antonio Pena]
Battle royal and maybe royal rumble rules. Elimination order went Toscano, Extreme Tiger, Ultimo Gladiador (unknown who he was replaced), Psycho Clown, Juvi and then we lost mention of it. Heavy Metal did participate. Final four were Parka, Garza, Mesias and Texano. Garza and Park went out, and Texano won with a Konnan distraction and a foul. Texano refused to accept the cup – it’s AAA and Pena – and Mesias told him off and promised to send him back to CMLL.

5) Jeff Jarrett, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver Kain b Dr. Wagner Jr., LA Park, Zorro
Zorro replaced Electroshock. Rudos won and destroyed Parka after the match.

6) Halloween L CibernéticoCuervoJack EvansOzzel Hijo del Perro AguayoTeddy HartPsicosis [dome cage, hair]
Bizarros (& Jack) versus Perros. Last man out loses his hair. Order of escape went Cibernetico, Ozz, Psicosis, Perro, Teddy, Jack and finally Cuervo to leave Halloween behind. Both the Perros and Sect got involved when it came down to Cuervo and Halloween, with Fabi and Atomic Boy also helping Cuervo and hurting Halloween.

My preview of the show.

CMLL’s Sunday Arena Coliseo show is streamed live on Terra.com. The link to the show is http://t.co/mAmFkJH2. Last week’s show had a variety of technical difficulties. Minis Mercurio and Fantasy meet one more time before next week’s minis match. CMLL may also be setting up a title match or singles match main event for next week’s show.

CMLL (SUN) 10/07/2012 Arena Coliseo

Notes: Diamante Azul vs Volador Jr. was set up after a heated (sometimes too heated) main event. Ephesto was hurt after a Triton senton con giro gone wrong, and Triton came close to hurting himself earlier in that match. Hooligan missed his match with an injury suffered after his Arena Puebla match on Monday.

Three different promotions have shows tonight. CMLL airs on EstrellasTV with a recent Arena Puebla show, Noches de Coliseo on Multimedios (listed as Paid Programming) may have matches from last Sunday’s Arena Coliseo Monterrey show, and IWRG’s Sunday night show airs live on AYM Sports around 7pm.

Notes: Rayo de Jalisco vs Blue Demon Jr. was hyped on TV as the main event of tonight’s ACM, but Rayo de Jalisco Jr. took his money and didn’t show. Blue Demon explained the situation and the fans handled it okay.

The chat room is closed. Thanks for coming.

CMLL’s Arena Mexico show, main evented by a Tiffany vs Marcela hair match, starts at 5pm. (All times Central.)

CMLL (SUN) 08/05/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior
Tecnicos took 2/3 in a lackluster match.
2) Hijo del Fantasma, Pegasso, Rey Cometa b Niebla Roja, Puma King, Virus
tecnicos took 2/3 in a match too exciting for internet streams.
3) Kráneo, Morphosis, Psicosis b Blue Panther, Diamante, Guerrero Maya Jr.
Rudos took 1/3. Panther submitted Morphosis, rudos teamed up to beat Maya, and tripped Diamante off the top rope to pin him.
4) Mr. Niebla DQ Shocker [lightning]
Niebla tossed his mask to Shocker for the DQ in 7:15 in a match heavy on Niebla & Zacarias comedy.
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Super Porky DQ Averno, Black Warrior, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3. Averno fouled Sombra and ripped off his mask for good measure. Sombra challenged Averno to a singles match next week. Averno said yes, and he’d win in two falls. Sombra says that if he wins, he wants a mask vs Averno’s ugly hair match.
6) Marcela b Tiffany [hair]
Seconds were Kraneo and Astral. Tiffany’s mom, the original la Diabolica, was in the crowd. Tiffany attacked Marcela with a plastic pipe before the match. Marcela fought back in a longer than average first fall, but Tiffany won with a Buca Storm. Second fall was also long, with Kraneo interfering. Tiffany escaped a Michinoku Driver into a cradle, but Marcela reversed it and grab the ropes for the pin. Tiffany and Kraneo protested, and got Tigre Hispano kicked out as referee. Maya replaced him. Tiffany and Marclea kicked out of each other’s finishes in a long third fall, and Marcela won with a super Michinoku Driver. Tiffany’s mom came in the ring to give her daughter a hug and cut off part of the hair. Tiffany shaved some of her own hair.

A live stream of the show can be found on the Terra website: http://deportesmx.terra.com.mx//en-vivo/2333/. The stream  is occasionally working.

TripleMania has a scheduled start time of 6:30 pm.

Perro Aguayo Sr. is in the building.

AAA TV (SUN) 08/05/2012 Arena Ciudad de Mexico
1) Fabi Apache, Fenix, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata b Dark Dragon, Mini Charly Manson, Sexy Star, Yuriko
Fabi pinned Yuriko.

AAA honored Antonio Pena (as they set up the cage for the next match.)

2) Joe Lider & Psicosis L Chessman & Juventud Guerrera and Extreme Tiger & Halloween and Jack Evans & Teddy Hart [relevos suicidas, cage]
cage match, with the “final team” facing off in for hair (or mask.) Moved down to the second match. Halloween and Juvi were the first two out, followed by Tiger, Jack and Teddy. Vampiro interfered, causing Chessman to fall off the cage and thru a table. The final two left were Psicosis and Lider, who would meet in a later match.

Perro Aguayo was introduced as the newest member of AAA’s Hall of Fame. Mascara Ano 2000 Sr. (w/Argos) interrupted to challenge him to a hair vs hair match. Perro declined.

3) La Parka, Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Octagón, Semental, Texano, Toscano
Octagon tried fouling Parka, fouled Semental instead, and Parka got the pin. Consejo turned on Octagon. Parka thought about making the save and finally did. Octagon was surprised. Doesn’t seem like he’s a tecnico yet.
4) Psicosis b Joe Lider [hair]
all the hardcore spots you’d expect. Tirantes got involved, and Lider went thru a table for the loss.
5) Electroshock & LA Park b Jeff Jarrett & Kurt Angle [seconds hair]
Park & Electro represent Joaquin. Jarrett and partner represent Dorian. Abyss got involved, but his interference may have backfired. Electroshock pinned Angle. Konnan protested, but Dorian relented and apologized to his family. Joaquin forgave him and wanted to wave the hair match stip. LA Park was angry and argued, and the TNA team took advantage to attack the tecnicos. Dorian revealed his apology was a ruse and had the rudos shave Joaquin, never losing his own hair.
6) El Mesías b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo [AAA HEAVY]
Mesias retained the title. Perro tried a martinete late in the match, but Garza broke it up and argued with Perro. Garza would end up hitting Perro with a chair (by mistake?) and Perro bled a large amount. Piero and the doctor considered stopping the match, but they kept going and Mesias won. Cibernetico mocked Perro after the loss, and Garza hit Perro. Perro Sr. came out to check on his son, while the rest of the Perros had words with Garza. Garza is out of Los Perros del Mal
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. b Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [mask]
Mascara Ano 2000 was with his son, and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Silver King were Wagner’s seconds, but Silver King turned on his brother during this match and the ref slow counted Wagner at times. Despite all the interference (and with his wiping some of them out on a dive), Wagner hit Mascara with a bottle and pinned him for the win.

Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. was announced as Ángel Reyes, from Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. is not believed to be an actual member of the Reyes family, so that’s probably not his full real name.

2) Averno, Mr. Águila, Olímpico b Ángel de Oro, Super Porky, Valiente
Rudos take the match in straight falls.
3) Marcela b Ayumi [lightning]

4) Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Marco Corleone DQ Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos in straight falls. Volador yanked Diamante Azul’s mask for the DQ.
5) Atlantis & Mr. Niebla b Rush & Terrible [natl pi, final]
Team Rush/Terrible took fall one, team Atlantis/Niebla/Zacarias fall 2. Fall 3 came down to Rush and Niebla, and Niebla won clean for the tournament win. Rush and Terrible fought after the bell. Rush yelled at Terrible and the crowd, and Terrible responded with a hair match challenge.
6) Negro Casas DRAW Blue Panther [hair]
Panther won the first with his surprise fujiwara, Negor took the second with a casita, both short falls. Long third fall, with Panther doing the only dive of the match (a tope) and lots of near falls. A few more near falls on the way in, leading to a small package – with both men pinned! Fans rooted for a fourth fall, but the decision was draw. Both men got their heads shaved, though Negro attacked Panther before he got his hair cut. Panther challenged Negro to a title match, and the two fought more.

New barriers were up around ringside (said for safety, but with more ads.) CMLL returned two referees in the ring. Show led off with the usual dancing, including Mije, Monito and Zacarias (who ended up brawling.) Bobby Bonales’ family was honored after the third match, leading right into the Diamante Azul introduction.

Attendance guesses are all over the place. At the very least, they had half full and probably well exceeded it. Better number later.

6) El Mesías b AJ Styles
20 minutes. Mesias won via backcracker and top rope splash. Dorian and Konnan came to the ring (or the apron) to yell at Mesias after the match. Mesias would have to face one more man to get the title shot.
7) El Mesías b Rob Terry
Shorter match. TNA guys ran in post match. Ozz & Cuervo ran in for the save, but were beaten up. Vampiro, returning to the promotion, turned the tide. He talked and talked after the match, setting himself up as new leader of the Infermundo. Joaquin Roldan came to the ring, and he and Vampiro apologized for turning on him last time we saw Vamp.
8) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, Héctor Garza b Drago, Fenix, Jack Evans
Perros got the drop on the tecnicos, tecnicos came back with hot moves. Perro bled, thanks to Jack. Garza got the pin on Fenix, but they pushed that this feud wasn’t over.
9) LA Park b Dr. Wagner Jr. [AAA LA]
Wagner III was Wagner’s second, Octagon was LA Park’s. Prior to the match, Toscano came to the ring. He wore a CMLL shirt, was presented as a CMLL wrestler, and declared their wrestlers were better than AAA. Wagner disagreed. LA Park got into to it with Marisela again during the match. Octagon attacked Wagner, so Octagoncito ran out to get him. Park took out Copetes, and Wagner got a few pins with no one around to count. Park fouled Wagner just before another ref came in, but could not get the pin. Park took out that ref too. Park dropped Wagner with a super DDT, but no ref again. Wagner recovered, Octagon attacked him, Wagner took him out, and Park used the distraction to hit Wagner with knucks for the pin and the title. Park was joined by Toscano, Texano, and Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. as psuedo-CMLL faction. They all beat up the Wagners until the Clowns made the save.

CMLL (FRI) 12/16/2011 Arena Mexico
***Sin Piedad, 2011***
1) Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito b Eléctrico & Último Dragoncito
CMLL rudos take 2/3, Demus using his double underhook piledriver to get the win.
2) Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Apache, Marcela DQ Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit, Tiffany
New ruda act loses in straight falls, the last for attacking the ref.
3) Ephesto, Mephisto, Rey Escorpion b Ángel de Oro, Super Porky, Valiente
Super Porky replaced Mascara Dorada, who may have been hurt in GDL on Tuesday. Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second, Mephisto beat Porky to win it.
4) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. [MEX TRIOS]
Tirantes started as ref, and broke up a Delta pin to set up Volador winning the first fall. Rambo, as commissioner, warned Tirantes. Tirantes kept cheating in the second fall, so he was kicked out. Tecnicos won the second just after Terror Chino arrived to replace him, and the third when Volador ran into the Atlantida. New champs.
5) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush b Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
Tecnicos win a very quick two fall match.
6) Blue Panther DQ Felino [hair]
Referee is Bestia Negra; announcers noted Felino had beaten him for his hair 3 times prior. Felino took a quick first fall, Panther took the second just as quick. Blue Panther tried to martinete, but was stopped and warned by Rambo over the microphone that another try would be a DQ. Later, Felino went for the martiente, Negro ran in to stop him, and the ref DQed Felino. Crowd and Felino were very unhappy. Felino tried to talk his way out of the hair loss, but could not.

CMLL announced Hombre Bala Jr. & Super Halcon will face Rayo Tapatio I & II in a mask match on 01/01. Blue Demon Sr.’s was remembered after the 4th match.

4) Rey Bucanero L Héctor Garza and Rush and Blue Panther and Felino and Máximo and Texano and Mr. Águila and Negro Casas and Terrible [cage, hair]
Mr. Aguila did a big dive at the start of the match. Escape went Rush, Mr. Aguila, Terrible, Texano, Hector Garza, Maximo, Panther and Negro, leaving Felino and Bucanero behind. Bucanero absurdly went for a top rope ‘rana, which fed perfectly into Felino’s superbomb. Felino had his feet on the ropes for the win. Bucanero was shaved.

In GDL, Palacio Negro shaved Loco Max – or at least that was the idea, but there were some equipment issues.
