02/18: LA Park, IWRG, Accion

Ovaciones reports that LA Park was suspended two weeks for his attack on Dr. Wagner on 02/09. Which means the suspension is more than half over before we even heard about it (and as a non-regular, no one would’ve noticed he was purposefully not being scheduled unless someone said something about it.) LA Park says CMLL just suspended him to protect their boy Wagner, and he was already booked in northern Mexico anyway.

Next Thursday, IWRG’s running a cage of death, with hair and masks on the line, but a title that’ll actually change hands.

Mask: Electroshock (what could he possibly look like underneath that mask!), Fantasma de la Opera
Hair: Bestia Salvaje (lives!), Villano III, El Dandy, Hijo del Diablo, Suicida
Title: Black Pentagon (IWRG Middle, I presume)

I guess the old guys could drop their hair for a payday – it would explain where Bestia came from, at least. Speaking of random people showing up, the semimain includes Nosawa and Kaz Hayashi.

AAA hasn’t posted any results yet.

Accion

CMLL: Trios title match. Tarzan and Hector are wrestling in shirts. (Wellness policy?) Ultimo’s spinning double submission was the one to end them all. They tried a spot where Ultimo backdropped Hector into a dive towards Atlantis, Tarzan and Aguila, but the backdrop wasn’t high enough and Hector got caught in the ropes on the way down. Of the three catchers, Atlantis was the farthest one away and the only one who actually tried to catch him. Atlantis and Ultimo got the double Atlantidas once again, but this time Hector and Perro escaped and cradled them for the titles. Clean.

AAA: Parka, Octagon, Alerbije, Zorro vs Abismo, Antifaz, Histeria, Niebla from Puebla. Layoff has not hurt Parka’s ability to be a goof. If anything, these clips show that he had much goofiness bundled up that he just had to get out. Abismo set up for what could’ve been the Martinez Special on Alberije, so Hijo de Tirantes – just kinda stood behind him. Abismo back elbowed him for infringing on his personal space, and then set up for the Martinez Special on him. Abismo held it up, which gave Latin Lover time to get in an foul him. Alerije tripped up Abismo and pressed slammed Cuije on top before collapsing, and Zorro covered Cuije and Abismo for the win.

Diablo no longer complaining

Hijo del Diablo has reversed from earlier this week. He talked to the promoter on Monday and they settled their differences – Diablo implies here that he was paid more, but doesn’t outright say it, so maybe he’s just saving face. Diablo wants to set the record (clearing up rumors on the Internet, whatever that is): the promoter owes him nothing more, and they’re all friends now.

No mention of all those other people who were supposedly not paid. Diablo states that this was all cleared up on Monday – so why it did take till Friday for anyone to hear about it?

Diablo also explains he would’ve beat Mistico – in two straight falls, no less! – but he slipped and Mistico got lucky. Diablo’s going to create a new look for himself and continue wrestling.

12/06: Coliseo, Diablo, IWRG, AULL

CMLL (TUE) 12/05 Arena Coliseo Results
1) Bracito de Oro, Fantasy DQ Fire, Sombrita
2) Molotov, Starman, Trueno b Caligula, Mesala, Ramstein
3) Amapola, Hiroka, La Nazi b Luna Magica, Marcela, Sahori
4) Misterioso II, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy b La Mascara, Mascara Purpura, Satanico
5) Mistico, Sagrado, Shocker b Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

Main event was in straight falls. Fans were divided on who to cheer.

two sides: This week’s Figure Four Daily reports El Hijo del Diablo might have been fibbing to Ovaciones early this week. The short version is Diablo tried to hold up the promoter for more money, didn’t get it, then decided to tank the match instead and accuse the promoter of shorting him.

Various different promoters run shows at Auditioro de Tijuana – they all run on Friday, but basically take turns – and the Diablo/Mistico match was run by Baja Star. Baja Star’s been running events for many years – my records go back to 2002 and they’re running then – so it is hard to believe they’d decide just to cut and run. They’ll be due to run another show in January. If we believe Diablo, they ought to have trouble doing that, because the undercards will be upset about not being paid and the commission would be angry for the same reasons. I think that’s the simplest way of cutting thru the he said/he said stories – if/when Baja Star runs another show, and it goes fine, then Diablo’s clearly making stuff up.

No one else has complained about their pay day, as far as I’ve read.

Ovaciones has a quite a bit of good nuggets today
– Efesto (spelled here Efecto) is Hombre Sin Nombre’s new identity.
– Marco Corelone is returning home to Italy (hahaha) to prepare for his big match on 12/15. Marco calls Universo unprofessional in an interview, and those two will not have wrestled in Arena Mexico since 11/10 (though they did meant in Xalapa and probably other smaller shows.)
– AULL’s TV contract with PCTV has run out, so this weekend’s show will be the last one of the “season.” Not sure if that means they’ll be back on TV in the new year or if WCW’s season finale.
– IWRG has canceled this Thursday’s show, citing poor attendance on recent Thursday shows.. They’ll run the next two Thursdays, and then close for the season.

In El Sol de Tampico, Cibernetico vows to send Muerte back to Puerto Rico and make sure he never returns.

Tinieblas and Mil Mascaras were honored in Puebla for – being Tinieblas and Mil Mascaras. El Sol de Puebla has the general story, and La Quinta Columna also has articles: an interview with Tinieblas and Mil Mascaras correcting a story about his past at the press conference. The man telling Mil’s background said he didn’t go to the Tokyo Olimpicos because he couldn’t put the funds together, while Mil claims it’s because he was ill treated and ill fed and decided to go do anything else.

12/03: Diablo stiffed, Accion highlights

oh no: Ovaciones reports the promoters of Friday’s Tijuana show, with El Hijo del Diablo mask loss, took off before paying all the fighters. After finally consenting to lose his mask, Diablo did not get paid for it. He’s trying to get the commission to intervene.

CMLL: Main event trios. Just lots of spots until Shocker reverses a cross body for a pin – clean!

AAA: Octagon, La Parka, Divina vs Head Hunter (unnumbered), Muerte and Konnan from Cuernavaca (11/18). Lots of Sect involvement. Konnnan wrestles in street clothes, low blows Parka, and then pulls him up before three – why? From the clips, they didn’t do anything further to him. Muerte low blows Divina, and then gets his arm raised, huh? I’m sure this made sense somehow.

12/02: Arena Mexico, Diablo loses his mask

CMLL (FRI) 12/01 Arena Mexico Results [ovaciones, galeno del mal]
1) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Loco Max, Ramstein
2) Alex Koslov, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Mascara Purpura, Sagrado, Virus
3) Damain 666, Halloween, Hector Garza b Atlantis, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Universo 2000, Volador Jr. b Averno, Kenzo Suzuki, Mephisto
5) Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Shocker b Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Marco Corelone, Mr. Aguila

Main event was said not to be good – rudos didn’t gel as a team – and the tercera was the best match. Universo left his match in the middle fall (the one they lost) because of an apparent shoulder injury, but returned for the final winning fall.

El Hijo del Diablo lost his mask to Mistico in Tijuana Friday night. Diablo’s name is Juan Carlos Gonzalez and he’d been wrestling for 20 years. It sounds like the building was overpacked. (Ovaciones.)

Ovaciones says the VIP show is today, not Friday. Guess I read something wrong.

TV notes much later.

12/01: Monterrey, Hijo del Diablo

4) Anibal el Vampiro, Bengali, Difunto b Apostol, Cats, Sky

4) Dule Poly vs La Bruja [LLF ?]
5) Humberto Garza Jr., Stuka, Casanova vs Pancho Tequilla, El Espanto, Vudu
6) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Konan Big [FILL HEAVY, mask]

Rayo’s not losing his mask. If I’m understanding the situation right, attendance has dropped off big here, and this is a desperation attempt to get another big crowd – though it’s unlikely to be sustained and Rayo’s fee will cut into that.

El Hijo Del Diablo visited Ovaciones’ office, vowing to return on Monday with Mistico’s mask. It’s good to have goals. Hope he’s enjoying his last few hours of being masked.

Not to pressure you, Alexis, but it is December. (This is why I make my deadlines ten times longer than necessary. Lies and exagerrations are great.)

If you’re a Figure Four Online member, Steve Sims is on the audio show today. If you’re not, well, sorry, go find $6 for a month. In an alternate universe, Mr. Sims is doing this site (and with much better content) and I’m – uh, I dunno. Messing with PHP/mySQL in some other fashion.
