Estrellita champion, Oro/Casas, Fuerza Guerrera vs Black Terry, CMLL bodybuilding

CMLL (TUE) 11/27/2012 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Infierno & Thunder Boy b Black Metal & Virgo
2) Esfinge & Smaker b Espectrum & Ráfaga
3) Espanto Jr., Hijo del Signo, Hooligan b Ángel Azteca Jr., Magnus, Pegasso
Espanto Jr.’s GDL debut
4) Estrellita b Princesa Blanca [MEX WOMEN]
Princesa Blanca came in as champion. Pegasso and Hijo del Signo were seconds. Estrellita surprised Blanca and pinned her in the first fall, Blanca won the second, Estrellita won the third with the Star Cross to win the championship. Estrellita celebrated big.
5) Ángel de Oro, La Sombra, Titán DQ Dragón Rojo Jr., Negro Casas, Psicosis
Negro Casas fouled Angel de Oro.

Estrellita’s been wrestling regularly since at least 2000, and this is her first championship win of any kind. (She’s not been in CMLL a lot of that time.) This ended Blanca’s near four year change; her title matches were good, but not especially frequent. Blanca gave Estrellita credit for being better on this night but also blamed a knee injury. Estrellita mentioned her recent injury absence wasn’t just due to the cut on her hand, but also an ankle injury. She spent her time out watching Blanca footage to look for a way to defeat her. Both talked about doing a hair vs hair match.

IWRG (THU) 11/29/2012 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring]
1) Galaxie b Epidemia
Another spelling for Galaxy.
2) Dinamic Black & La Cobra b Alan Extreme & Eita
3) el Ángel b Eterno [IWRG IC MIDDLE]
Angel kept the title
4) Bestia 666, Damián 666, Fuerza Guerrera b Dr. Cerebro, Pantera, Veneno
666s were in their Xolo jerseys. Black Terry hit the ring post match to argue with Fuerza, probably about the last FILL show. Fresero Jr., in jeans and a jersey shirt, worked as a referee for this show and separated the two.
5) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan b Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman [super libre]
remach from the previous week. Rudos took 2/3, Navarro pinning Solar. Fuerza hit the ring post match to challenge Terry to a singles match, and he accepted

Angel vs Eterno is up in three parts already.

Fresero Jr.’s father was a referee for AAA. IWRG only seems to have two referees, and it’s not clear if this a change of occupation or an emergency fill in situation. He should still make it rain as a referee.

CMLL held it’s annual bodybuilding contest yesterday.

Minis
1) Stukita – mini who has still yet to debut
2) Pequeno Olimpico
3) Pequeno Halcon – was very unhappy about finishing third and threw his trophy into an empty section of seats. Believed to be suspended for that, though he hasn’t been on cards for a couple weeks already.

Beginners (more of a weight distinction than a training one)
1) Flyer – Volador Jr’s nephew
2) Akuma
3) Super Halcon Jr.

Intermediate
1) Sensei
2) Guerrero Maya
3) Camorra

Advanced
1) La Sombra
2) Valiente
3) Tama Tonga

Women
1) Dark Angel – won for the seventh straight year, every year they’ve run this contest
2) Dalys la Caribena – second for the fourth straight year
3) Isis

The winners all came back for a final contest, and Sensei won that to become Mr. CMLL Absoluto. There was also an apparently unofficial Student group for those enrolled in CML classes. Aioria, who I’ve never heard of prior won. Second place went to Relampago, formerly of AAA and currently in IWRG, with IWRG opening match wrestler Epidemia finishing third.

Tonight’s the first half of Copa Junior. It’s a CMLL random tournament that doesn’t mean anything, but they like to spread out the wins as thinly as possible. Maybe someone who’s been near the top but hasn’t had a big win this year – Mephisto or Mascara Dorada? – will advance.

Rey Cometa either has a busy night or is missing a match tonight. He’s scheduled to main event a show in Queretaro, then wrestle in the tercera in Arena Mexico. I think it’s physically impossible to work both – there’s a 3 hour different start time, but more than 2 hours away from each other – so expect a sub tonight in CMLL.

AAA had a press conference for the 2012 Quien Pinta Por La Corona contest final. They hyped major surprises, then just tweeted out photos of people there. Maybe the major surprise is cameraphones.

LLF’s Perla Negra hurt her wrist, so tonight’s planned mask vs mask match with Lady Puma is off. LLF’s last show of the year is next week and Negra won’t be ready by then either, so the match is postponed indefinitely. The replacement match is Lady Puma versus a mystery woman.

Rob has the top 5 spots of the week.

stuff going on Sunday

(all times Central)
4pm CHIKARA iPPV (I ordered weeks ago without realizing I had other things to watch, oops – I can watch it later, it’ll work out)
4pm CMLL on EstrellaTV (which I usually just half pay attention to)
5pm CMLL on Terra with Terribile vs Sombra for the Heavyweight title.
(5pm Noche de Coliseo, though it seems in repeats)
6pm AAA Guerra de Titanes (time on the poster, maybe not so much)
6:3pm IWRG Prison Fatal

So. The plan is for a chat/live results this week, starting at 5pm and running until I have to stop. We’ll be talking the CMLL show, the AAA show and even the IWRG one if they continue sending out live results. Only the CMLL on Terra show will be available on the internet, so you may be very bored after 7:30pm. It’ll be a fun time until then!

By the way, tickets seem to be selling decently well for Guerra de Titanes. The closest ticket I could get on Ticketmaster was for the fourth ring around the building.

Lineup

CMLL (MON) 12/03/2012 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano & Black Tiger vs Espiritu Maligno & King Jaguar
2) Astral vs Demus 3:16 [lightning]
3) Camaleón, Soberano Jr., Starman vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Ramstein
4) Fuego, Pegasso, Stigma vs Bronco, Hijo del Signo, Nitro
5) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Tiger
6) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Bronco! Giant goofy horse might actually be back. The best part is one more guy who can prevent the Cancerberos and Tuareg from accidentally being put on the same team.

Astral and Demus could set up a title rematch.

Tijuana, Mascara/Volador, mask feuds in IWRG

The Crash (FRI) 09/28/2012 Auditorio de Tijuana [The Gladaitores]
1) Black Boy b El TiranoFantástico
Black Boy won what was scheduled to be a tag match (no Heilos.) Fantastico put on a MV shirt and attacked Black Boy after the match.
2) Mr. Maldito, Pensamiento Negro II, Sargon b Venum Black, Venum Black Jr., Xtorm [semifinal]
Venum Black Jr.’s debut, losing to a Maldito moonsault.
3) Jonathan, Star Boy, Urzus b Black Spider, Cinico, Viento [semifinal]
4) Mr. Maldito, Pensamiento Negro II, Sargón b Jonathan, Star Boy, Urzus [final]
jumped the winners of the last match immediatley. Maldito again won with a moonsault, this time on Star Boy. MV Promotions ran in and destroyed Mr. Maldito, setting up a promotion vs promotion trios match on 10/12.
5) Zarco b Trauma II [NTW CRUISER]
Zarco, champion, was seconded by usual partner Viento. He toko falls 2/3 to keep the title.
6) Electroshock, Héctor Garza, Tony Casanova DQ Angel Metalico, Blue Demon Jr., LA Park
Angel Metalico & Tony Casanova were added to the match. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Electro caught unmasking Park for the DQ.

CMLL (SUN) 09/30/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, La Catedaral]
1) Bengala & Freesbe DQ Camorra & Espanto Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3. Camorra yanked Bengala’s mask for the DQ.
2) Hijo del Signo, Molotov, Sensei b Artillero, Hooligan, Súper Comando
Hooligan replaced Nosferatu, who hasn’t been seen in 3 weeks. Hijo del Signo replaced Tigre Blanco and worked on the tecnico side, but did not get along with his partners. Tecnicos still took 1/3 for the win.
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Lady Afrodita, Marcela b La Comandante, La Seductora, Lady Apache
Marcela replaced Luna Magica. Rudas took 2/3 in a poor match.
4) Averno b Guerrero Maya Jr. [lightning]
Averno won in 8 minutes with a super Devil’s Wings.
5) Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi b Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr.
Japan took 1/3. Taichi pinned Fantasma with his version of the Gedo clutch. Fantasma laid on the mat for a while like he was knocked out by the cradle.
6) Rey Bucanero, Tiger, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, La Máscara, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3. Volador pinned Mascara clean with the superkick and backcracker combo. Volador attempted to challenge Mascara for a title match on the microphone, but the microphone failed (live, fine on the stream.) The idea was still communicated.

Volador/Mascara (#8?) seems like the main event for 10/14, with Fantasy vs Mercurio as the fourth match.

Tons of problems with the feed this week.

Chico Che picture has nothing to do with anything

IWRG (SUN) 09/30/2012 Arena Naucalpan [me]
2) Alan Extreme, Black Terry, Temerario Infernal b Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Saruman
Temerarios took 1/3
3) Carta Brava Jr. (IWRG), Rayan, Spartan b Carta Brava Jr. I, Oficial 911, Oficial Fierro
straight falls. Brava II/Rayan/Spartan DQed for excessive violence in 1st, Oficials pin Comandos in second. Carta Bravas destroyed each other’s masks. Carta Brava Jr. IWRG was wrestling with an Electroshock-style mask by the end of the match. Mask match challenges followed the match, as did Carta Brava IWRG randomlly challenged for the lightweight title.
4) Comando Negro, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oficial AK47 b Dr. Cerebro, el Ángel, Hijo de LA Park
Rudos took 1/3. Comando Negro was eliminated in the third fall, but used a ref distracted to pull Angel’s mask and set him up for Wagner’s pin. Angel rolled around on the floor with Wagner after the match, and had to be held back from coming after Comando Negro.
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Sagrada, Veneno DQ Cien Caras Jr., Factor, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000
16:27 (21:33 including breaks), falls 3:17, 3:50, 9:20. Tecnicos took 2/3. Cien rouled Sagrada and pulled off his mask for the DQ. mask match challenges between Pirata and Factor and Cien and Sagrada.

IWRG’s Castle of Terror should be coming up in 4 or 5 weeks, and they’re teasing a lot of mask feuds. That all may be a concidence.

By the way, this GIF includes everything you ever need to know about IWRG. It’s all there.

No detailed results from AAA’s TV taping yet. The Inferno Rockers match was said to be very good, but not even a picture of the new Rocker. Texano again challenged Mesias for a title match.

Titan defeated Euforia by DQ in Guadalajara. It was said to be good from start to finish. Euforia won the first wtih a powerbomb, Titan snuck in a move in the second, Euforia headbutt fouled him in the third. That seems like it’s going to happen to Eufoira a lot.

Haven’t seen anything on the Legend show in Arena Lopes Mateos. This was a busy weekend, and next week is about the same with Heroes Inmortales. We should wait until next Sunday’s lineup comes out for this, but I’m looking for thoughts about when the chat should run (and if people are interested in a chat.) I don’t know that we’ll get any more AAA results then the scattered and incomplete stuff they’ve posted from the last few TV tapings, and there probably won’t be as many other people live tweeting results like for TripleMania. I’m not sure if a chat going from 5 to whenever AAA gets done (11?) is something people are looking forward to; two weeks of doing that schedule and I’m already tired of that schedule! On the other hand, a lot of people who would comment in a chat are usually twittering during the CMLL show anyway, so maybe you ight as well have a chat too.

CMLL posted the Mercurio/Fantasy contract signing video from this week’s CMLL show.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

SuperLuchas #492 has Canek vs Wagner and interview with Atlantis. A lot of times, it’s the interviewer leading the luchador into making those kind of comments, but Atlantis himself brings up possible retirement unprompted. He says he doesn’t have a when or where in mind but knows it’s coming. It’s very interesting.

It will be sad when Atlatnis gets vetoed for talking to SuperLuchas! (Half kidding?) SuperLuchas got to talk to Atlantis because he was working the FULL show last weekend. That’s suposed to air on AYM Sports some time soon.

Dark Angel should be available to be booked in Mexico soon…

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 10/04/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) Perseus & Vera Miss vs Exorcista Jr. & La Hiedra
2) Centvrión & Saruman vs Imposible & Infierno Kid Jr.
3) Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker vs Alan Extreme, Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Negro Navarro vs Factor, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Oficial AK47
5) Cien Caras Jr. vs Psycho Clown [IWRG IC HEAVY]
Cien Caras is the champ

Title change is not out of the question.

Tercera could be very good.

Perseus is Sangre Chicana’s son, who’s advanced in QPPLC last year and this. La Hiedra is also from northern Mexico. Exorcista Jr. is a QPPLC from Veracruz last year, and he was also in the Veracruz locals match that turned up on AAA TV before recently starting to appear in Mexico City. Probably not a concidence they all happen to be around at the same time. No idea on Vera Miss.

IWRG (SUN) 10/07/2012 Arena Naucalpan
1) La Parkita & Voladorcito vs Bracito De Plata & Mr. Aguilita
2) Centvrión, Freelance, Gipsy vs Alan Extreme, Imposible, Sádica
3) Carta Brava, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Violencia Jr.
4) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Tony Rivera vs Eterno, Oficial 911, Zumbido
5) el Ángel, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Sagrada, Pirata Morgan, Veneno vs Cien Caras Jr., Factor, Heddi Karaoui, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.

Ten enterances! Main event may not start until 10.

Zumbido and Tony Rivera return, continue to exist. They are as random as the minis.

Sadica is a woman, so Gipsy probably is. IWRG really hasn’t done mixed tag without AAA involement, but this probably would work out better than six random indy women just because of the other four guys involved.

DTU, Piratas vs Brazos, Puebla

Dark Angel & Hormiga/photo by Black Terry

DTU (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del Ring, Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring, R de Rudo]
***Desafio***
1) Violento Jack b Kaleth, Pequeno Cobra, Jhonky, Radical, Hacker
Violento Jack is stuck with the trainees, but at least he won.
2) Arana de Plata Jr., Ashley, Megan b Garra de Aguila, Vanely, Yuki Star
Garra de Aguila was strechered out.
3) Keira, Máscara Oriental, Zairus b Lily Fighter, Trauma I, Trauma II
Chucho el Roto & Yakuza ran in to distract the Traumas (AULL Tag Team title issues!) setting up their loss. Lily Fighter almost killed herself on a dive.
4) Daga b Flamita, Ciclope, Eterno, Yakuza, Pesadilla, Hormiga, Black Fire, Masivo, Chucho el Roto
Daga beat Eterno. Violento Jack hit the ring after the match, angry about being demoted to the opener.
5) Zumbi DRAW Sick Boy
No word on how they got to the draw, but everyone seems unhappy with this the non-ultraviolentness of this match. (“A mockery of the public”)
6) Drastik Boy b Aero Boy, Judas el Traidor, Paranoiko, Muerte Bucanera, Shitara, Dement Xtreme
Big win for Drastick Boy, beating Aeroboy. Judas and Aero left injuried.
7) Chica Tormenta & Dark Angel b La Vaquerita & Princesa Sujei
Dark Angel’s team won clean. Chica Tormenta and Princesa Sujei feuded after the match

Get the vibe this show did not go well, even outside Zumbi/Sick Boy. DTU posted a note sort of apologizing for the show quality, promising the next show (07/02) will be better. Nice bit of candor.

IWRG (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Saruman b Alan Extreme
2) Dinamic Black & Golden Magic DRAW El Imposible & El Pollo Asesino
Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second. Dinamic Black put Pollo in a tapatia, and leaned him forward for the double pin.
3) Avisman, Comando Negro, Oficial AK47 b Centurión, Freelance, Multifacético
Rudos won 1/3 clean.
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan b El Brazo & Hijo del Brazo [IWRG IC TAG]
Straight fall win for the champs, though not without issue. Piratas cheated the Brazos frequently in the first fall, until El Brazo got annoyed and tried to foul Pirata Sr. He was caught for the DQ. Piratas got away with their own foul in the second fall to sweep.
5) Fresero Jr., Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911 DQ Drago (AAA), Electroshock, Veneno
Tecnicos took the first, rudos the second, Electroshock was DQed for a chair shot on 911.

CMLL (MON) 05/23/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio]
3) Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel b Ángel de Plata, Delta, Fuego
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso Jr. b Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Valiente
Sagrado was stretchered out.
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Máscara, La Sombra, Strong Man
Mr. Niebla did appear, and Peste Negra was with him. After the heavy feuding in previous weeks, it sounds like the tecnicos just won clean, taking the last two falls. La Mascara put Negro in the campana in the third.

Shocker, promoting his new restaurant, says he’s hoping to be back a month. That makes the lineups plugging Shocker’s return last Friday odder still.

CMLL’s put out press about the CMLL Super Lightweight tournament, though there’s no mention of who’s in next week’s block. The two blocks will be fought in ciberenticos. Picking favorites depends on which of CMLL’s multiple personalities is in charge of this tournament, and that’s always unknown. I’d rate Hijo del Signo, Palacio Negro and Guerrero Maya as the favorites, Rey Cometa, Magnus, Hombre Bala as the next group and Inqusidior and Trueno as highly unlikely.  I’m going to pick Palacio Negro because I like Palacio Negro and Maya has other things to do and there’s not much more to go on.

My guess at next week’s sides: Metal Blanco, Delta, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Angel de Plata, Fuego, Pegasso and Bobby Zavala. I figure Angel de Oro, Diamante and Polvora are above this title, Rey Escorpion is too big, and Dragon Lee is still injured. I would have Yoshihashi in this tournament, just because it’s supposed to be a world championship so you might as well include one non-Mexican, but I think he’s trying to be a non-Super Lightweight. Angel Azteca Jr. was the runner up last time, but seems completely forgotten and a long shot to even make it in.

Jeff Jarrett continues to threaten that TNA will replace AAA, which is nice because it’ll give me two less hours of TV to recap a week. He’s a swell guy. Also, Rob Van Dam says “Doctor Wagner Junior” and appears to think he’s on Sesame Street. I do totally now want to see Dr. Wagner punch RVD in the face, mission accomplished!

Rob has a post on like a dozen different things. Also August ’95 AAA highlights and a great Rey Misterio highlight

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 05/29/2011 Arena Coliseo
1) Freesbe & Principe vs Artillero & Ramstein
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. vs Hooligan, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Sensei vs Dr. X, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Black Warrior, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Mephisto, Vangelis
5) Blue Panther, Strong Man, Super Porky vs El Alebrije, Psicosis, Shinsuke Nakamura

Main event needs to be built around Shinsuke Nakamura/Cuije spots.

I wonder how the person booking the Rayos vs Bala/Maya storyline feels about no longer being on TV. I wonder if CMLL will ever tell us what Dragon Lee’s injury is.

04/22: Mexico, Monterrey, Zorro

CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 04/21 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II b Apocalipsis & Semental
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata b Caligula, Messala, Polvora

3) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito DQ Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior
4) Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II b HIjo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente
5) La Mascara, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Main event ended with Mistico and Averno left alone in the ring and you know how that goes. Funny how Mistico remembers to do La Mistica against Averno, but seems to have forgotten to use it again Negro. ESTO mentions the rudos were screwing around outside the ring during the second fall and actually got counted out by Tigre Hispano, but they all just ignored it (because that wasn’t supposed to be the finish.)

Shockercito faked a foul to win the minis match.

indy (TUE) 04/21 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
2) Xtreme Dragon b Kaientai, Sick Boy
3) Memo Valles & Sangre Chicana Jr. b Corazon Adictor & Maldad Adicta
4) Sergio Romo Jr. & Silver Star b Difunto I & Mongol Chino Jr.
5) Rey Sagitario b Androide [hair]

Intersting story of the day: While reposting Angel’s AAA exit interview with Box Y Lucha, they mention Pimpinela & Zorro are rumored to be leaving. Pimpi probably will be scrambling for dates on the indies with most of the people who’ve left, but Zorro might be (and should be) of use to CMLL. Zorro’s wrestled in CMLL in 1999, after the dead of Promo Azteca, and would be fun to see mixed in with top of CMLL (which still seems stale despite Dos’ turn.)

Anyway, Angel says he’s leaving AAA on good terms and will not be prevented from using his name (though he might change his look.) He’s hoping to get to CMLL.

Other Angels who appear to be jumping: Dark Angel wrestled a dark match at last night’s TNA taping, losing to Awesome Kong. It sounds like a tryout match, which they’ll ignore if they get on TV. TNA puts it’s dark/b-show matches on it’s website, so perhaps this’ll turn up. SuperLuchas is all over the photos from the show, of course.

Silver King answers back to el Fantasma (though the article strangely says Hijo de Fantasma), complaining that he’s banned when Rey Misterio can wrestle with his mask on despite losing it, as well as unnamed wrestlers in Arena Mexico. Who’s he takling about here? I’m going to be banging my head off my desk when someone reminds me, but all I can come up with is Hooligan (who remasked in about 4 years and 8 months, but is okay now.)

Anyway, Silver King says at one point that he doesn’t need a mask, but then complains that they let him wear a mask in Japan with no problem and Mexico’s being unfair. He also drops Fantasma’s real name, which is not the way to win friends and influence people. Silver King says the mask is “pure marketing”, and banning him from wearing it is like banning people from long hair or makeup.

Super Fly claims to AAA’s website that Laredo turned on him first, and it’ll be up to the fans if he becomes a rudo.

Ovaciones has a big profile of Bengala, who claims he’s related to no current wrestlers and says he’s making his debut on Sunday.

Desde Ringside interviews Martha Villalobos and Martha Villalobos during a local show.

Paraiso de la lucha libre has photos from the show to honor Dinamico I. So does mortis666 @ box y lucha.

DJ Spectro also reposted the Valiente’s lost 20 KG (44 lb) and hopes to lose 5 more article.

DTU is in Monterrey for their show Sunday.

Cesar rates Mistico, Sagrado (who’s been in CMLL six years and has had zero noable feuds – that is CMLL) and La Sombra.

Dos Caras Jr. has altered his look to resemble Toluca’s Diablo Rojas.

SuperLuchas is selling Arkangel masks.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches Terrible Cerebros vs the Navarros from 04/16/09 (which was apparently the title match), while Segunda Caida watched the 04/02 IWRG show.

The Milwaukee Decider talks to the promoters of Saturday’s Monto Lucha show.

02/15: Dark Angel, Guadalajara, two story rings

TONIGHT IS THE LAST NIGHT TO VOTE FOR THE TAPATIA AWARDS.

As noted in the the comments, PWI (don’t actually click that link unless you’ve got adblock going) says TNA has signed Dark Angel. The details, which we don’t have, are essential here – if it’s TNA signing someone away from CMLL, then the real story is “TNA and CMLL deal is DONE” (and CMLL’s never going to push a foreigner again.) If it’s CMLL agreeing to let TNA use her for some dates, the story is “CMLL and TNA agreement proceeding surprisingly well”, which bodes well for a rumor passed along in today’s Figure Four Weekly – CMLL’s talking to TNA about bringing back the Machine Guns to face Volador Jr. and (if healthy) Sombra for the CMLL Tag Titles (or maybe the IWGP Junior Heavy Tag ones no one remember at the moment.)

At this point, all we’ve got is half a story and hopes Dark Angel gets the additional notiriety she totally deserves. In the few coplete matches I’ve seen of her this year, it seems like she’s stepped up her game since coming Christmas break.

(I’m fully expecting someone to post details the second I post this. That’s the way it goes.)

CMLL (SUN) 02/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Principe Dylan b Nocturno
2) Valentin Mayo b Nube Roja
3) Palacio Negro & Samuari b Katana & Malefico [Torneo Alfonso Dantes]
4) Acertijo & Rey Trueno b Leon Blanco & Thunder Boy [Torneo Tanque Dantes]
5) Boomerang & Gallo b Angel del Mal & Infierno [torneo tanque dantes]
6) Averno, Ephesto, Satanico DQ Marco Corleone, Mascara Dorada, Mictlan
7) Shocker b Terrible

Averno was stuck in the ring with Mictlan and did the only reasonable thing – took of his own mask and tossed it to Mictlan for the DQ.

All the winning teams got two points. What that means, I guess we find out. Let’s keep track of it over on the wiki, so someone else can take over when I lose my mind. Thus far, it’s pretty easy – the winners have 2 points, the losers do not.

EAW, better known as THAT Group That Wants To Run Matches In A Two Floor Ring, held a press confrence yesterday. I don’t know if their concept will work or if it’ll draw, but they are pretty succesful at gettng press attention because they were covered in Ovaciones and Notimex, and UWE-type shows have trouble getting Notimex.

The deal with the two rings is a bit clearer, if the pictures can be believed. It’s not two rings stacked on top of each other, it’s one normal sized ring and an adjacent ring that’s much higher (100cm) from the ground than usual. I’ve seen this bit before – I believe Windy City did it for one of the yearly major shows years back – and while it’s still a bit crazy, it’s not staggering insane. At the same time, all you’re adding to the matches is people going from ring to ring during matches and falling farther (and harder) on dives. Even if that works, it probably doesn’t work in every match. The usual indy names are scheduled to work the first show (Wagner, Crazy, Park, Zumbido, Tinieblas) on Thursday, and the promoter says they’ll also focus on making new stars. (He’s also quoted as saying TV ratings are dropping, which sounds nice but doesn’t appear to be true.)

Ovaciones hypes up Friday (and today’s) card, mentioning Mistico scheduled to be back in action this Friday but not mentioning any injury. Mistico is scheduled to defend the same Welterweight Title against Averno in SLP tommorow, which also doesn’t seem to note any injury. Safe to assume they’re unaware, even if nothing’s up. Knee injury or not, Mistico is scheduled to visit Fray Tormenta on March 3rd, with a $5,000 donation on behalf of the WBO.

Box Y Lucha has the first edition of Box Y Lucha Television. I don’t know much about anything, but I do know that if you’re just sitting at a desk, talking and not moving, you’d probably just be better doing a podcast. If you have a video camera, you need to show, not just tell.

WagnerMania posted video of Mephisto vs Sombra in Puebla and Hijo del Santo & Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Rey Misterio & Super Parka

Ohtani’s Jacket watches the Negro/Metal vs Sombra/Volador tag match. You know, the shaved head/open back masks have got to go. Those things just always look bad, and I don’t wnat to know there’s a bald guy under the mask. I’m not supposed to know what’s under the mask, that’s why it’s a mask. Darn Misterio.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 09/15/07 CMLL and 09/22/07 CMLL, KrisZ’s news update and 80-71 on the best of 2008 list.

WrestlerObserver has their AAA Recap.

10/12 Arena Coliseo Results

Princesa Sujei, new t-shirt/CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 10/12 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Trueno b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca, Sahori b Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Stuka Jr.
4) La Máscara, Máximo, Mictlan b Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Terrible
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. b Black Warrior, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Volador subbed for Alex. Rey won the first fall with a low blow on Hector, and Hector pinned him in the second (moonsault) and third (small package.) Hector wants a shot at Rey’s title. Rey has the CMLL Light Heavyweight Title, I guess I need to point that out.

Perhaps Rey won’t be teaming with the Villanos after all.

Mictlan was Grey Shadow’s sub here again. Rudos could not function as a team and lost. Perros turned on Olimpico.

Even the CMLL.com report suggests the Infernales were more favored than the tecnico team.

This was dark Angel’s return to the ring, and she looked fine. Probably wrestled good too. If CMLL really has gone anti-foreigners and pro-long time local workers (like Marcela, Amapola, and Lady Apache), Sarah’s never ever going to win a title, is she? Sad. Maybe they’ll just keep on going on their own pocket universe and everything will be okay.

Is Semental part of Ola de Laguneros? Is Angel de Oro? Will this angle go on long enough that it’ll force me to learn how to spell tha right without running to Google for spell checking? So many questions.
