07/20: IWRG, Mexico Lineup

Most unhelpful teaser ever: IWRG’s Thursday card featured new champions!

IWRG (THU) 07/19 Arena Naucalpan
1) Misterio Verde & Tortugillo Ninja b Macho II & Rockero del Diablo
2) 911, AK47, Fierro b Kai, Sasaki, Yamato [EdM TRIOS]
3) Black Terry DQ Fantasma de la Ópera [IWRG IC WELTER]
4) Cyborg, Kraneo, Xibalva b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Suicida [IWRG IC TRIOS]
5) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Hijo del Solitario & Pierroth [IWRG IC TAG]

Hijo del Solitario replaced Hijo de Pierroth in the main event, and perhaps that was the difference. Probably not.

The new IWRG IC Trios police officers are the Escuadron de la Muerte, as opposed to the police officers who won the Estadio de Mexico trios titles in the segunda who are the Oficiales. No one’s cleared up that Mexico State trios title confusion yet.

Fantasma lost his title via DQ thanks to something Yamato did – I think he just alerted the ref to the shenanigans.

CMLL (FRI) 07/20 Arena Mexico
1) Moltov & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) India Sioux, Luna Magica, Marcela vs La Nazi, Medusa, Rosa Negra
3) Felino, Mascara Purpura, Maximo vs Misterioso II, Satanico, Virus
4) La Mascara, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. vs Damain 666, Hector Garza, Terrible
6) Mistico & Negro Casas vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

Arena Mexico preview: NotiMex, ESTO, Ovaciones. ESTO also interviews Sombra, and they explain that the name is supposed to be a reference to Oro. A Mistico/Oro hyrbird, that’s no pressure at all. They’ve got a recap of Tuesday’s hair match as well. ESTO branches out from CMLL coverage as well, interviewing Krator (who’s starting in IWRG – weirdly, this interview is listed as from Brazil) and picks up a La Paz AAA spot show preview from another paper in it’s network.

CMLL (THU) 07/19 Feria de Durango [El Siglo de Durango]
1) Andy Rock & Estelaris b Chilango (Durango) & Nocturno
2) Camaleon, Gran Mysterio, Milenium b Guerrero Inca, Mulato, Oso Negro
3) Alacran Asesino, Espacial, Negro Sosa b Angel de Oro, Cabllero Negro, Psycko
4) Groon XXX, Mascara Sagrada, Rayman b Angel Blanco Jr., Cien Caras Jr., Texano Jr.

This is the show that followed these guys visiting the cancer ward.

AAA (WED) 07/18 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [Sol de SLP]
4) Cinthia Moreno & Oriental b Miss Janeth & Zumbido [AAA MIXED TAG]
5) Alan Stone, Head Hunter I, Mesias b Antifaz, Gronda II, Intocable

Antifaz replaced La Parka Jr. The change was announced, and refunds were offered (so they learned from Mistico!), but there still were a couple of angry trouble makers in the crowd according to the paper. Antifaz turned on Intocable to cost the tecnicos the match. Miss Janeth replaced Tiffany – doesn’t confirm anything, but does work along with those rumors about Tiffany – and somehow the rudos cheated in such a manner, they won the match but the local comissioner and the promoter came out to overturn the decision. Oriental got stretchered out after the match, which may have had to do with the finish.

AAA (FRI) 07/27 Plaza de Estrellas
1) La Parkita & Martha Villalobos vs La Hechicera & Mini Abismo Negro
2) Crazy Boy & Joe Lider vs Chris Stone & Histeria
3) Billy Boy, Brazo de Plata Jr., Super Porky vs Gran Apache, Super Calo, Zumbido

This is a company party/15 year plaque dedication/small anniversary show. AAA lists “Friday”, which could mean today or next week. I’m guessing. Good to know Chris Stone is employed by the company. Calo is listed as Calo here – and look, Chris and unmasked Calo at the same place as the same time. This would seem to indicate they’re different people.

FCW has a nice new website, with pics from the show last weekend and video from before the cage match.

Ovaciones interviews Veneno, who claims the people are demanding he turn tecnico. I would like to meet these people. Veneno also talks about his side job designing gear. Veneno gives out his cell phone number too, which is not the way I’d go. I don’t think I’m going to put Veneno’s phone number on the internet forever and ever, so you’ll have to go Ovaciones before the page disappears tonight.

(Comic Book Resources) “Lucha Libre”, a comic book about five LA men who decide to take back their neighborhood by putting on masks, will debut from Image Comics in September. The series has apparently been running in Europe for a while, but this’ll be it’s US debut. It looks good.

Milenio Torroen writes about a 900 piece lucha libre exhibition at the 2007 Gomez Palacio fair.

05/02: Coliseo, IWRG, AULL, Monterrey

CMLL (TUE) 05/01 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Vaquero & Zayco b Espiritu Maligno & Karissma
2) Bracito de Oro & Electrico b Fire & Mini Mr. Aguilita
3) Goto, Ohara, Okumura b Brillante, Euforia, Starman
4) Ephesto, Texano Jr., Virus b Metro II, Ogun, Sagrado
5) Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero b Blue Panther, Shocker, Volador Jr.
6) Atlantis b Alex Koslov [NWA LH]

Alex put up a good fight and won the first fall, but Atlantis took two and three clean. In the semimain, Ultimo beat Shocker with his own move. Sagrado filled in for Maximo, who still out from his injury on Sunday. They might as well change the teased Maximo/Texano feud to Sagrado/Texano feud – that’s what the feud was here. Euforia filled in for a hurt Leono in the third match – I’m not sure where this leaves the hair match for next Monday – and didn’t get along with his teammates. Mr. Agulita replaces Sombrita in the minis match, but I don’t know if anyone was hurt there.

IWRG (THU) 04/19 Arena Naucalpan [Hector Albores @ thegladiatores]
1) Golem & Puma King b Bacteria & Celestial
2) Cyborg & Hermano Muerte II b Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Astro Boy, Halcon Salvaje, Kid Tiger b Black Terry, Dr. Karonte Jr., Kraneo
4) Enfermero Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Veneno b Esfinge, Hijo de Anibal, Suicida
5) Black Warrior, Hijo de Cien Caras, Misterioso II b Alex Koslov, Mistico, Volador Jr.

Cyborg cheated to help his team win (was eliminated, but held the last remaining Trauma down from the outside while he was being pinned), and it sounds like they’re doing something with him and the Traumas. Veneno got turned on by Enfermero Jr. and Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. after their win, for no clear reason. Warrior snuck in a foul on Mistico.

AULL (SUN) 04/22 Arena Lopez Mateos [Jesús Silva Hernández @ thegladiatores]
1) Exterminador & Mini Demonio b Depredador & Star Cat
2) Mr. Potro & Regional b Misterio & Violento
3) King Star Tiger, Rocky Satana, Ultimo Gladiator b Psicopata, Sadico, Shu El Guerrero
4) Terry 2000 b Rey Krymen [AULL LIGHT]
5) Maximo, Mistico, Texano Jr. b Black Warrior, Hijo del Diablo, Sepulturero

indy (TUE) 05/01 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC @ lomejordelucha libre]

4) Beast, Hijo de Espanto II, Pancho Tequila b Corazon Adicto, Humberto Garza Jr., La Kalaka
5) Intocable b Golden Boy [hair]

In La Presna, Zorro says he was reborn a new man by taking off his mask.

IWRG’s site is still down.

12/18: IWRG, Crazy, Atlantis, magazines

Best picture I’ve seen so far, though I’m still looking. It looks like Efesto has a ram horn design on the side of his mask.

IWRG (SUN) 12/17 Arena Naucalpan Results [ova]
1) Black Stone b Puma King
2) Comando Gama, Comando Mega b Bacteria, Kid Tiger
3) Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde b Black Jaguar, Dr. Karonte, Dr. Karonte Jr.
4) Camorra, Macho II, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Astro Boy, Suicida, Texano Jr.
5) Felino, Sagrado, Volador Jr. DQ Black Warrior, Nitro, Okumura
6) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Cyborg, Xibalva [losers advance]
7) Xibalva b Cyborg [hair]

Alcibar (WED) 12/20 Coliseo Tulancingo Lineup
3) Feroz, Nemesis (Tulancingo), Genesis vs Horiguchi, Hanaoca, Brian Lee
4) Batman, Hombre Arana, Superman vs Gran Markus, Enfoermero Jr., Imposter
5) Super Crazy, Ultimo Dragon, Latin Lover vs Nicho, Pierroth Jr., Antifaz

Yes, the actual Super Crazy. Either he got permission for this, or everyone agree not to tell WWE, okay? Good to see the Mexicools breakup span countries. That show should draw.

There’s a 9 man cage of death scheduled for 12/30 in Tlaxacala, with CMLL guys: Atlantis, Olimpico, Tarzan Boy, Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila, Pierroth, Pierroth Jr., Pierroth II. While the mystery is “which Pierroth will lose”, Atlantis tells El Sol de Tlaxcala if he loses his mask, he’d retire right there on the spot. (I think he means this match, and not in general, but who knows.)

AAA (SUN) 12/17 Palacio del Arte de Morelia Results [Psicosis_Nicho of El Martiente]
1) Billy Boy, Alan, Decnnis b Alliens, Kriptor, Mungo
2) Tiffany, Jerrito Estrada, ? b Estrellita, Mascarita Sagrada, ?
3) Marafuji, Ishimori b Angel, Oriental
4) Ozz, Cuervo, Escoria, Espiritu b Juventud Guerrera, Joe Lider, Psicosis II, Hijo de Tirantes
5) La Parka Jr., Octagon, Gronda II b Ciberentico, Charly Manson, Chris Stone

In related and crucial news, it looks like the Alliens mini, Madrox, got himself a new mask.

El Siglo de Durango has an article on Alvaro Fernandez Reyes, who spent “many years” researching Santo and writing a book on him. It’s called “Santo el Enmascarado de Plata” and I couldn’t find it on Amazon.
