DTU (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del Ring, Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring, R de Rudo]
***Desafio***
1) Violento Jack b Kaleth, Pequeno Cobra, Jhonky, Radical, Hacker
Violento Jack is stuck with the trainees, but at least he won.
2) Arana de Plata Jr., Ashley, Megan b Garra de Aguila, Vanely, Yuki Star
Garra de Aguila was strechered out.
3) Keira, Máscara Oriental, Zairus b Lily Fighter, Trauma I, Trauma II
Chucho el Roto & Yakuza ran in to distract the Traumas (AULL Tag Team title issues!) setting up their loss. Lily Fighter almost killed herself on a dive.
4) Daga b Flamita, Ciclope, Eterno, Yakuza, Pesadilla, Hormiga, Black Fire, Masivo, Chucho el Roto
Daga beat Eterno. Violento Jack hit the ring after the match, angry about being demoted to the opener.
5) Zumbi DRAW Sick Boy
No word on how they got to the draw, but everyone seems unhappy with this the non-ultraviolentness of this match. (“A mockery of the public”)
6) Drastik Boy b Aero Boy, Judas el Traidor, Paranoiko, Muerte Bucanera, Shitara, Dement Xtreme
Big win for Drastick Boy, beating Aeroboy. Judas and Aero left injuried.
7) Chica Tormenta & Dark Angel b La Vaquerita & Princesa Sujei
Dark Angel’s team won clean. Chica Tormenta and Princesa Sujei feuded after the match

Get the vibe this show did not go well, even outside Zumbi/Sick Boy. DTU posted a note sort of apologizing for the show quality, promising the next show (07/02) will be better. Nice bit of candor.

IWRG (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Saruman b Alan Extreme
2) Dinamic Black & Golden Magic DRAW El Imposible & El Pollo Asesino
Rudos took the first, tecnicos the second. Dinamic Black put Pollo in a tapatia, and leaned him forward for the double pin.
3) Avisman, Comando Negro, Oficial AK47 b Centurión, Freelance, Multifacético
Rudos won 1/3 clean.
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan b El Brazo & Hijo del Brazo [IWRG IC TAG]
Straight fall win for the champs, though not without issue. Piratas cheated the Brazos frequently in the first fall, until El Brazo got annoyed and tried to foul Pirata Sr. He was caught for the DQ. Piratas got away with their own foul in the second fall to sweep.
5) Fresero Jr., Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911 DQ Drago (AAA), Electroshock, Veneno
Tecnicos took the first, rudos the second, Electroshock was DQed for a chair shot on 911.

CMLL (MON) 05/23/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio]
3) Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel b Ángel de Plata, Delta, Fuego
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso Jr. b Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Valiente
Sagrado was stretchered out.
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Máscara, La Sombra, Strong Man
Mr. Niebla did appear, and Peste Negra was with him. After the heavy feuding in previous weeks, it sounds like the tecnicos just won clean, taking the last two falls. La Mascara put Negro in the campana in the third.

Shocker, promoting his new restaurant, says he’s hoping to be back a month. That makes the lineups plugging Shocker’s return last Friday odder still.

CMLL’s put out press about the CMLL Super Lightweight tournament, though there’s no mention of who’s in next week’s block. The two blocks will be fought in ciberenticos. Picking favorites depends on which of CMLL’s multiple personalities is in charge of this tournament, and that’s always unknown. I’d rate Hijo del Signo, Palacio Negro and Guerrero Maya as the favorites, Rey Cometa, Magnus, Hombre Bala as the next group and Inqusidior and Trueno as highly unlikely.  I’m going to pick Palacio Negro because I like Palacio Negro and Maya has other things to do and there’s not much more to go on.

My guess at next week’s sides: Metal Blanco, Delta, Puma King, Tiger Kid, Angel de Plata, Fuego, Pegasso and Bobby Zavala. I figure Angel de Oro, Diamante and Polvora are above this title, Rey Escorpion is too big, and Dragon Lee is still injured. I would have Yoshihashi in this tournament, just because it’s supposed to be a world championship so you might as well include one non-Mexican, but I think he’s trying to be a non-Super Lightweight. Angel Azteca Jr. was the runner up last time, but seems completely forgotten and a long shot to even make it in.

Jeff Jarrett continues to threaten that TNA will replace AAA, which is nice because it’ll give me two less hours of TV to recap a week. He’s a swell guy. Also, Rob Van Dam says “Doctor Wagner Junior” and appears to think he’s on Sesame Street. I do totally now want to see Dr. Wagner punch RVD in the face, mission accomplished!

Rob has a post on like a dozen different things. Also August ’95 AAA highlights and a great Rey Misterio highlight

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 05/29/2011 Arena Coliseo
1) Freesbe & Principe vs Artillero & Ramstein
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. vs Hooligan, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Sensei vs Dr. X, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Black Warrior, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Mephisto, Vangelis
5) Blue Panther, Strong Man, Super Porky vs El Alebrije, Psicosis, Shinsuke Nakamura

Main event needs to be built around Shinsuke Nakamura/Cuije spots.

I wonder how the person booking the Rayos vs Bala/Maya storyline feels about no longer being on TV. I wonder if CMLL will ever tell us what Dragon Lee’s injury is.

04/08: Mexico, IWRG

CMLL (TUE) 04/07 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, ESTO, Avellaneda @ box y lucha]
1) Caligula & Méssala b Rayo Tapatio II & Trueno
2) Loco Max, Skandalo, Vangelis b Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Tony Rivera
3) Mascara Dorada b Rey Cometa, Pegasso, Angel de Oro, Angel Azteca JR., Angel de Plata, Super Comando, Polvora, Inquisidor, Tiger Kid [cibernetico, CMLL SL]
4) La Mascara, Mistico, Sagrado b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) La Sombra & Volador Jr. b Atlantis & Rey Bucanero [CMLL TAG]

Champs lost the first but rallied back to take two and three for the clean win.

Cibernetico’s said to be fast paced. Inquisidor was the first out, and Angel Azteca Jr. wa the last out, not sure who’s in between. Haven’t seen a picture of Dorada with the belt yet.

IWRG (SAT) 04/04 Arena Xochimilco [The Gladiatores]
1) Latin Brother b Comando Negro
2) Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metalico b Eragon & Miss Gaviota
3) Fantasma de la Opera, Hijo del Signo, Mixteco Jr. b Chico Che, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro DQ Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) Freelance, Fuerza Guerrera, Super Porky b Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Oficial 911

Porky’s return to IWRG, for the usual Porky match (big splash at the end.)

IWRG (SUN) 04/05 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Halcon 2000 b Radamantis
2) Azuka & Goleador b Black Thunder & Mixteco Jr.
3) Freelance, Multifacetico, Turbo b Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Tetsuya Bushi
4) Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. & Toxico DF DQ Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG) & Pierroth II
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro DCO Trauma I, Trauma II, Zatura

Main event was a bloody mask ripping battle, certain to set up a rematch. Seems like they’re changed plans from the feud with the Gemelos Fantasma.

Mascara/Toxico won in straight falls, first when the Pierroth screwed up, second when the Pierroths foul their opponents. Hijo de Pierroth apparently beat Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. for the Rey dey Ring title back on 03/28, and they’re still feuding for it.

AAA has a note mentioning the passing of Elda Shelia Barrada Castillo. She’s Estrellita’s mother, and also the daughter of long time Mexico City commissioner Rafael Barradas Osorio.

AAA put up a truck load of upcoming spot shows lineups last night. Alerbije, Brazo, Histeria, and Psicosis are all still listed as on them. There’s also some matches which are listed as Parka and Alebrije (w/Cuije) vs the Psycho Circus, with no mention explanation of why there’d be 2 (.5) vs 3 matches. My guess is someone still has Abismo Negro listed in their scheduling book, and whomever is putting this up on the website thought enough to take his name out but not enough to add Luchador Sopresa. There’s also a card for DF, it does not include Konnan

BTW – today’s rumored AAA departure: Chris Stone. (He’s also booked this week.) Hmmm, I’ll guess Gronda II is tomorrow’s.

Meanwhile, the Gladiatores prove how great they are – they went to El Fantasma and asked why he suspended Konnan but not Jack. Also, Pirata Morgan talks about going independent.

Ayako Hamada is headed to TNA.

Box Y Lucha looks back at Verdugo, Rolando Vera and El Solitario.

WrestlingObserver has their AAA Recap. How bad must’ve Joaquin Roldan’s punch been that they used a camera shot from across the arena, all the way zoomed out, to show it?

04/03: SL brought back, Mexico,

Remind me never to lose to Honduras.

Ovaciones not only previews tonight’s show, but mentions next Tueday’s Fan Appreciation show is two championship night. Not only will CMLL have the tag titles on the line (Volador/Sombra vs Atlantis/Rey), but the Super Light title – last seen in Arena Mexico in 2004 – will back in play. Ovaciones lists the former champion as “Ricky Romero”. The new champion will be determined in a “Reyes de Aires style torneo”, and we’ve even got the participants:

– Angel de Oro
– Polvora
– Angel de Plata
– Inquisidor
– Rey Cometa
– Super Comando
– Pegasso
– Tiger Kid
– Masacara Dorada
– Angel Azteca Jr.

That’s 10, which is a little bit less than you’d expect for this time. I also wonder this might be a ‘two finalist meet next week’ deal; it’s not said, but that’s the usual for these type of things. It’s also a whole bunch of match 1/2 guys, with Mascara Dorada sticking out as being above the level and an obvious favorite. Kinda hope he doesn’t win; it’d be fun to have a Rey de Novatos title, to go along with the Arena Coliseo Tag Titles, and Dorada would be feuding with Virus and Felino instead (which wouldn’t be so bad either.) All I know is next weekend’s Cadena3 is the most interesting TV of the month.

Moving back to things that are happening today:

CMLL (FRI) 04/03 Arena Mexico
1) Angel Azteca Jr. & Starman vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Blanca
3) Valiente vs Virus [lightning]
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [CMLL TRIOS]
6) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Other previews: Notimex, ESTO

Regardless of the order, the trios title match is the main event here. It’d be strange to have two guys be trios champions with two different partners, but I don’t know if CMLL is really concerned about such things. Or, they could always have Poder Mexica just use a win here as an excuse to get out of being partners with Warrior if that’s a concern. The champs are the favorites, but not total ones.

The former trios champs are teaming in the fourth match, which could be a fun exhibition of spots. Valiente hasn’t been highlights in Mexico City much lately, so I hope this works out well for him. It’s Virus, it should be. The main event seems like a main event just to do a main event, which gives 50% chance of setting up a random angle.

Meanwhile, another portion of the CMLL crew is in Guadalajara for another Coliseo anniversary celebration. Big matches are rematches from Dos Leyendas: Mistico vs Negro (non-title), and Atlantis/UG vs V4/V5, plus a women’s cibernetico with the loser losing their masks. Sujei is really the only regular involved, so no one may know the difference.

The special CMLL GDL show is happening because, just like every time CMLL runs a special show in GDL, the Perros are running elsewhere in Guadalajara (at the University.) Main event is Santo/Rayo vs Wagner/Perro, which sounds like it should draw pretty well. There’s also the Pierroth benefit show in Arena Azteca Budokan, which has gotten decent press.

SuperLuchas will have a raffle to pay Kato Kung Lee’s medical bills. First prize gets you dinner with Santo & Demon and masks, plus lots more. Tickets are expected to be 1000 Mexican pesos ($72.63 US)

The Gladiatores has a interview with Psicosis and Histeria about leaving AAA and working for EAW (and a bunch other places.) Sounds like they, like others, blame the foriegn guys for taking their spots.

Mike Lano has an article on Slam about the San Jose AAA show.. No results from last night’s Las Vegas taping yet, but AAA has announced the Aguascalientes will be on April 30th, Kid’s Day. I can only imagine what AAA would plan for Kid’s Day in 2009. Between the Kid’s Day stuff and the Lucha Libre Expo, that’s going to be a busy stretch of time.

AAA looks back TripleMania III.

DJ Spectro defends Mil Mascaras.

Ohtnai’s Jacket raves about Valiente vs Rey Hechicero.

LuchaWorld has Robert on Arena Coliseo Monterry 05/13, 05/15/07 and CMLL TV 11/10/07, as well as KrisZ’s news.

Did SoloLuchas give up posting?
