kick so strong it doesn't need to hit

recap

Aereo, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico: Seemed to focus on the newer técnicos a lot, who aren’t really worth focusing on. Demus and Olímpico worked as a good partners, but so did Nitro & Demus, so maybe Demus is just a really good teammate.

Black Warrior, Hijo del Fantasma, Metro vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Vangelis: Half effort completely pointless match that makes me reevaluate my process of picking which shows to watch.

Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: About as interesting as the rest of the show. Again, técnicos were perfectly fine, the Avernos were not really into it. I’m hoping the title match is a change, because this feud has been underwhelming up to now.

Averno has second thoughts about this whole thing.

Felino, Terrible, Volador Jr. vs Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara: Felino really hurt his team here. He goofed around into losing the second fall, then set up both the pins in the third! A harsh day for him. This was a normal match.

Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: técnicos were trying – Máximo in particular looks more motivated than he has anywhere outside of Japan – but the rudos seemed disinterested. They weren’t making the técnicos look bad, but they weren’t doing much on their own. I don’t know if three matches in this feud is going to be so great.

recap

Máximo, Titán, Triton vs Felino, Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura: Máximo and the T&T duo didn’t do much together, but the rudo team not mesh much either. This was all okay with some Triton iffyness (like the finish), but very standard stuff. If Okumura was actually in the spot Triton landed, that would’ve been a humongous moonsault.

Ephesto outsmarts Sombra (sort of)

La Máscara, La Sombra, Valiente vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto: Definitely not the blow out match you might be hoping with these names, more of the usual stuff. Everyone does what they do well (when they’re not distracted by the celebrities), but this was definitely just an ordinary match. Valiente looked more confident than he has since the moonsault botch.

Disturbio!

Enrique Vera Jr. & Soberano Jr. vs Bobby Zavala & Disturbio: An opening match. These guys showed more promise than last time they turned up (on C3). Though there are still odd hesitations and screw ups, but a better night overall. Zavala has to really strong to pull off that submission he does, there’s not much the other guy to do to help.

Polvora down

Hijo del Fantasma, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Pólvora, Vangelis: Nice trios match, nothing wrong with it except maybe not enough time. Metro continues his progression into the scariest man in the world. This was one of his nicer German suplexes, but he still managed to lift Euforia off his feet and walk around with him a bit. Good to find out Fantasma has a way to win that doesn’t involve a ramp.

Marco vs Mije

Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, La Máscara, Marco Corleone vs Kraneo, Morphosis, Olímpico, Rey Bucanero: A quick match, maybe more quick on TV with some obvious editing to make everything fit. Mostly a feel good comedy match, a nice idea for a crowd who hasn’t gotten to see these guys in a many weeks. Morphosis, as Morphosis, sure gets to be in more matches than Histeria.

Mask match was good, but wouldn’t be notable if it wasn’t someone the length of the Tapatios losing. Rush/Terrible might have been good in front of a vocal crowd.

Inquisidor!

Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei, Super Halcon Jr. vs Inquisidor, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II: This feud definitely felt hotter months ago. Some of it is Super Halcón, who seemed even back then one of the least ready of the Gen11 guys and has not improved much. This was a better feud when Dragon Lee was it, as odd as that sounds. The feuding between the two teams didn’t seem any more intense or special than between Sensei & Inquisidor up to the finish. I can’t imagine the Rayo Tapatios winning on 01/01, but they deserve better opponents if they’re going to lose.

hey, Marco's back

Atlantis, La Máscara, Marco Corleone vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero: simple reintroduction to Marco. Not a total showcase, but he got in the big move at the end for the win and that’s all that matters. Rudos did not take him lightly on his return.

this last month of Triton, in one gif

Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Triton vs Averno, Ephesto, Terrible: this was a mixture of Triton continuing at his current level (not good) and others going thru the motion. Averno was in a strange mood. Everyone was mean to Comandante for no reason. Well, maybe the eight hundred times she’s cheapshotted them in past, if you want to think long term.

need to start a MetroEsNumeroUno tumblr

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Blue Panther, Metro, Rush: Fun match! Team Panther was great fun as rudos. I’m not sure why Metro & Rush aren’t teaming up more often, because they’re usually fun together. Maybe CMLL is concerned they’ll break everyone in half? That’s a legitimate concern. Técnicos all looked good too.
