Hijo de Pirata Morgan takes the gold, AULL loses it in Costa Rica

IWRG (SUN) 09/16/2012 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Infierno Kid Jr. b Serpiente de Oro
The ever changing rules of IWRG opener are “one fall” for the moment. Easy win for Infierno Kid.
2) Carta Brava Jr., Imposible, Rayan b Centvrión, Dinamic Black, Saruman
Rayan replaced Matrix Jr.
3) Chicano b Cerebro Negro [WWS WELTER]
Chicano came in as champion, with Imposible as his second. Centvrion worked the opposite corner. Both got involved in the third fall. Chicano survived to powerbomb and plancha Cerbero for the win (2/3) Cerebro Negro gave him credit for the clean win.
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Alan Extreme, Black Terry, Temerario Infernal [EdM Trios]
Oficials came in as champs. Temerarios tookin the first, Oficials took the second. In the third, AK-47 beat Alan Extreme with the Devil’s Wings and Bombero pinned Fierro after a spear. AK-47 took out Bombero with a tope and hurt his knee in the process, leaving 911 and Black Terry alone while the ref checked out the injury. Alan ran back in to hit 911 with a chair, but before Black Terry could cover, Fierrero dropped Terry with a backcracker. 911 crawled on top to keep the titles. Temerarios demanded a rematch.
5) Bestia 666, Damián 666, Eterno b Hijo de LA Park, Negro Navarro, Trauma II
Navarro replaced Fresero Jr. FdT took 1/3. Hijo de LA Park did not get along with his partners from the start and laid down in the third fall for Eterno to beat him. It still took an unseen foul on Navarro from Bestia 666 to give the rudos the win.
6) Hijo de Pirata Morgan b Trauma I, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 [IWRG JUNIORS]
Pirata put the Rey de Ring title on the line, Trauma I put his mask, and Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000 put his Junior titles on the line. Trauma I escaped the match after Mascara splashed Pirata Morgan and Trauma beat Mascara (with lots of interference from Morgan.) Hijo de Pirata Morgan used his Perla Negra (said to be a reinera variant) to submit Mascara and win the Juniors title. Mascara argued he got the ropes, but was ignored.

09/17 Stardom: Dark Angel b Kyoko Kimura [5STAR GP]

09/17 NOAH: Super Crazy [O] & Ricky Marvin b Yoshinobu Kanemaur & Genba Hirayanagi [X] [JH TAG tournament]
– Marvin & Crazy have the same situation; one match left, and if they win, they go to the final.

Pantera just can’t beat Ohara, like Ohara against Ultimo Dragon.

5) Canek, Dos Caras Sr., Mil Mascaras b Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown
Dos Caras & Mil Mascaras (with a plancha) pinned Monster Clown and Psycho Clown for the win. Canek thanked the crowd after the show.

UWE (SUN) 05/15/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos [@lawagnermania, Estrellas del Ring, Mi Lucha Libre, The Gladiatores]

7) Hijo de LA Park & LA Park DQ Dr. Wagner Jr. & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
Park took fall 1 & 3. Final fall saw Park beat Hijo de Wagner, Wagner Sr. beat Park, and Hijo de Park toss his mask to Wagner to draw the DQ.

CMLL (SUN) 05/15/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Javier Cruz Jr. b Metalik

3) Dalys la Caribeña, Lluvia, Marcela b La Comandante, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
4) Gallo b Drago [OCCIDENTE LH]
Gallo kept the title, taking the last two falls.
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Toscano b Atlantis, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero
Texano replaced Dragon Rojo Jr., out with an injury. Sombra pinned Ultimo Guerrero and challenged him to a title match next week.

Fuego’s recap has a cover photo of a 90% unmasked Ultimo Guerrero. Dragon Rojo’s been out for a week now, and is only booked on the Rey Escorpion benefit show going forward. Something serious?

Forjando un Idolo

On this week’s CMLL Galavision show, they were still promoting this Friday as the tournament final, as well as hyping Shocker’s return for this show. (The other shows had the corrected date; even if the main show is airing a week behind, it seems like it’s being done mostly live.)

CMLL in Japan

NJPW announced Shinsuke Nakamura would be coming to CMLL from May 27 to June 27th. Much like Gigante Bernard last year, this is a NJPW top heavyweight coming over while the smaller guys take over for the Best of the Super Junior. Nakamura was in CMLL back in September 2005 for a month. No idea who he’s gong to work with; he feels like a trickier guy to fit in CMLL than others.

NJPW also announced Mascara Dorada would be hanging around after a couple weeks after the Best of the Super Jr. tournament concludes, as he’s part of their trios tournament taking place June 21 to June 23. This does make it unlikely the Universal Tournament will be taking place in June, since that’ll up Dorada, Taguchi and Lyger for the entire month – unless they all exit the tournament early. Dorada is teaming with Hiroshi Tanahashi & KUSHIDA.

Reina #2 (05/16) Result
5) Yumiko Hotta & Seuxis [O] b Tomoka Nakagawa & Silueta [X]

Other News

X-Fly retained his Perros del Mal Extreme Championship by DQ in Tala, Jalisco.

This week’s Super Luchas mentions Rey Trueno & Mr. Trueno lost their Pacific Coast Tag Team Championships to Kempo Dragon and Relampago (the one based in Sinola, not the AAA one).

A local previews lists Milicia vs Dark Family and Psycho Circus vs Los Maniaquia as part of the AAA World Trios Tournament. They could do two more teams in Toluca and semifinals on the taping(s) pre-TripleMania and the final on the big show. Figuring we’re getting a Perros and Bizarros team. Maybe Air Force/Elegido and 187/Electroshock or Metal?

AAA’s website mentions they’ll be taping on June 4 in Arena Neza. That may be the last taping before TripleMania. The last time AAA taped in Arena Neza, as best I can figure, is 1997. (Though it’s definitely possibly I’ve got tapings just listed as Neza instead of the arena.) AAA’s drawn well there without TV taping; it’s not a big building, so that’s an easy sellout and hot crowd.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Coliseo
1) Bam Bam & Pequeño Halcón vs Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pequeño Warrior
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. vs Puma King, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
3) Molotov, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Euforia, Hooligan, Loco Max
4) Black Warrior, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Ephesto, Felino, Misterioso II
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Super Porky vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Niebla, Volador Jr.

52MX looks like a fun good show. I like an idea of Warrior as big brother to Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro, assuming CMLL is going to do anything at all with Black Warrior (which really seems doubtful so far – they never even really did anything with the Averno feud.) It seems more likely Palacio & Metal will drift aimlessly without a trios partner, but just a step higher than Pegasso & Rey Cometa.

CMLL has Super Halcon Jr. and a Pequeno Halcon, except the Pequeno Halcon is not doing the same Halcon character. If that sounded confusing, it’s because it is.

CMLL (SUN) 05/22/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Meteoro vs Relampago
2) Astaroth & Hierro vs Evola & Infierno
3) Mascarita Dorada & Shockercito vs Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito
4) Ángel de Oro, Máscara Dorada, Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr. vs Mephisto, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
5) La Sombra vs Último Guerrero [CMLL HEAVY]

THAT is a main event. That is actually a really good show, wonder who else is running in GDL.

05/23: Coliseo, La Parka Jr., LdP change, NWA tournament, AULL anniversary show, Guadalajara, Monterrey

CMLL (TUE) 05/22 Arena Coliseo [ova]
1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito b Mini Damian 666 & Mini Halloween
2) Sensei, Stuka Jr., Trueno b Artillero, Jeque, Super Comando
3) Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico, Tony Rivera b Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Ephesto, Okumura, Sangre Azteca b Fabian el Gitano, Felino, Mictlan
5) Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, Universo 2000 DQ Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr.

Main event was all pushing Ultimo Guerrero vs Volador Jr., with Ultimo ripping Volador’s mask and faking a foul for victory. In the segunda, Starman was replaced by Stuka, and Jeque filled in for Ramstein, so the Jeque/Stuka feud was back for at least one night.

In it’s recap of AAA’s 05/20 TV Taping, Ovaciones states La Parka Jr.’s rehab is not going well, he’s not close to being cleared, and will be out longer than expected.

This week’s Leyenda de Plata lineup has changed. As expected, Mistico is out of the tournament itself, moved to the main event in Marco Corelone’s spot (so they can begin teasing Aguila/Mistico for 06/01.) Sagrado takes his place, and since we’re not actually rebooking anything after lineup changes, he’s the heavy favorite to win. Texano replaced La Mascara, who’s out hurt.

Sicodelico Jr. will be part of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament. (Oddly, there’s a video promo with Nicho challenging for the belt, but not Sicodelcio. Plans change.) It’s a 16 man tournament, and he’s got to face someone named “Roughneck Ryan”, who’s theoretically one of the top 16 contenders in all the world despite being named “Roughneck Ryan”. Also, I’m not sure why two guys from the Texas area are having a first round match in Tennessee, but them there’s the breaks. If Sicodelico Jr. moves on, and gosh I hope he doesn’t lose to Roughneck Ryan, he’ll probably face Claudio Castagnoli and I would totally endorse that match happening. If Sicodelico Jr. wins the NWA Title, I think we’ll have to change the “Did the Gran Alternativa win lead him onto bigger things?” bit on the wiki to a Yes.

The word on the street – people all over the streets are talking about the NWA title tournament, naturally – is Byran Danielson will win end up winning the tournament. (Though now that even I know, it’ll be switched.) In a recent interview with Figure Four, Danielson talked a bit about wanting to do a stretch of wrestling in Mexico to learn how to wrestle lucha – he’s worked one Toryumon Mexico show, but that’s about it. If Bryan Danielson wins the NWA Title, CMLL absolutely must bring him in, because that’d be the awesomest thing possible ever. I’d be cool too if it was Claudio or Sicodelico and I’d understand if Danielson’s NOAH tieup means he’s got to AAA (because that’d could brilliantly insane), but just the concept of Danielson with the NWA Heavyweight Belt taking on, say, Mistico would be so fun, and probably draw. I think the NWA name actually might mean more in Mexico than it does in the US, because the Light Heavyweight title has fared quite a bit better than Heavyweight one over the last 18 years.

AULL (SAT) 05/19 Arena Lopez Mateos [KrisZ]
1) Tortugillio Ninja I, Tortugillio Ninja II, Tortugillio Ninja III b Pequeno Porro I, Pequeno Porro II, Pequeno Porro III

3) Epidemia & Robin Maravilla b El Solito & Psicopata [AULL TAG]
4) Sepulturero I b Hermano Sepulturero [name]
5) America Salvaje, Rey Krimen, Sadico b King Star Tiger, Mano Negra Jr., Terry 2000
6) Dos Caras Jr., Vampiro, Volador Jr. b Hijo de Cien Caras, Hijo del Cien Caras, Universo 2000

There’s a billion photos of this show over at El Martinete. AULL will be hosting a benefit show for El Signo on 07/01, who needs money for spinal surgery.

CMLL (SUN) 05/20 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [KrisZ]
1) Casanova b Flama

4) Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible b Hijo de Lizmark, Vampiro, Volador Jr.

In the main, Terrible pinned Vampiro once again after a foul. Rayman & Sagrado want a shot at the Cien Caras Junior brothers Occidente Tag titles.

AAA (SUN) 05/20 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) Mercurio & Virtual X b Ben Hur & Guerrero Negro Jr.

5) Blue Demon Jr., Medico Asesino Jr., Rey Misterio vs Cien Caras Jr., Espectro Jr., Nicho

This is being promoted at Medico Asesino Jr.’s retirement match.

Medio Tiempo has a long interview/biography of Cibernetico on their site. Being an antihero and all, he doesn’t understand how parents would allow their children to be fans of his, though he gets why kids might be fans anyway.

(Notimex) A new lucha libre gym was opened in the Jardin Balbuena section of Mexico City.

Either this week’s GdR review or the opener y’all want to hear about will be posted later tonight – that’s the plan, anyway.

(Strong Style Spirit No lucha guys in this year’s NJPW Super J tournament. I guess it’s better than getting my hopes crushed again. Hirooki Goto is also not scheduled, so he’ll be around for a while longer.

4) Halcon Salvaje L Veneno, Pierroth Jr., Enterrador 2000, Villano V, Bestia Salvaje, America Salvaje, El Dandy [cage, mask]

Veneno unmasked Halcon Salvaje, who’s Mateo Alcantara Villafuerte, 14 years a wrestler from Mexico City. Gladiatores has tons more from the Expo, if you’re looking.

AAA IDS Lineup (THU) 05/10 Plaza de Toros La Comiteca de Comitan [El Heraldo De Chipas]
1) Astro Azul, Divino, Spike b Furia Infernal, Tigre Jr. (Guatemala), Trivial
2) Cinthia Moreno & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Tiffany
3) Capitan Furia, Mexicano, Terrorista b Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis
4) Brazo de Plata, Oriental, Super Calo b Alliens, Chris Stone, Espiritu
5) Alebrije, El Elegido, Intocable b Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido

They built up a Terrorista/Super Calo feud thru the show, with Calo wanting to replace Billy in the Barrios Boy match but Terrorista refusing to allow it to go down, and Terrorista showing up to attack Super Calo in the semimain. Tiffany hurt her shoulder in the second fall of her match. This seems to be a continuing interview.

4) Atlantis, Averno, Ultimo Guerrero b Dr. Wagner Jr., Rey Bucanero, Shocker
5) LA Park, Super Parka, Volador Jr. b Damian 666, Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila

Lots of subs on the show, with Mistico, Perro and Negro Casas all missing, and the announced women’s trios opener instead turning into a minis tag. Attendance was 7,500, lower than the last show.

Marco Corelone is interviewed in the Miamia Herald and comes off very well, like a man who has a plan. (thanks to mike informer)

(Milenio Mexico City) Blue Demon Jr. is opening a store, although he’s hyping it as a cultural gallery, complete with his own artwork.

(Cambio Sonora) A new local group called Liga Municipal de Lucha Libre is starting in Hermosillo.

Notiver has an interview with police officer who’s a part-time wrestler. He says he wrestled as Bronco in Veracruz, and is now under a different mask.

Some random lineups for this week:

CMLL (MON) 05/14 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) King Jaguar & Super Star vs La Mafia & Mr. Rafaga
2) Forajido, SWAT, the Tiger vs Fuerza Chicana, Toro Bill, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Centella de Oro, Leono, Tigre Rojo vs Loco Max, Misterioso II, Virus
4) La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr.
5) Atlantis, Jushin Liger, Ultimo Guerrero vs Marco Corelone, Negro Casas, Ultimo Dragon

So Liger was staying till Monday but didn’t work Coliseo? (I think, haven’t seen those results.) I guess he just didn’t want to work a double shot on Sunday, which seems fair.

CMLL (TUE) 05/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara

3) Fabian el Gitano, Freelance, Turbo vs 911, AK47, Fierro
4) Dandy, Negro Navarro, Tony Rivera vs Enfermo Jr., Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Pierroth Jr.
5) Black Warrior, Dr. Cerebro, Stuka Jr., Suicida vs CIMA, Don Fuji, Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi [copa High Power 2007]

911, AK47, Fierro are the latest iteration of the Oficials. Not sure where CIMA is the rest of the week. Everyon needs a vacation.

indy (THU) 05/17 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacion [Siglo de Torreon, Milenio Torreon]

2) Aspid & Ricky Estrada vs Camorra & Moro Jr.
3) Angel de Oro, Indomable, Sexy Piscis vs Guerrero Inca, Piloto Negro, Sexy Francis
4) Hijo de Santo & Solar vs Espanto V & Mano Negra

It occurs to me that this is exactly the sort of booking Blue Demon Jr. gets, and that’s the danger of Santo’s standoff.

indy (SAT) 05/19 Deportivo Moctezuma
1) Aguila Oriental vs Golem
2) Ninja de Fuego & Pegaso (indy) vs Comando Mega & Volcan Negro
3) Antaris, Hombra Arana, Kung Fu Jr. vs Kraneo, Rambo Jr., Vampiro Metalico
4) Avisman & Kid Tiger vs Bacteria & Celestial [ri, losers advance, mask, hair]
5) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone vs Misterioso Jr. & Universo 2000

This might be an IWRG show? It looks like that sort of lineup, but IWRG’s site is still down so I dunno. Bacteria and Avisman are the two unmasked guys in this match, I believe.

IWRG (SUN) 05/20 Arena Naucalpan
1) Antaris & Ave Fenix vs Avisman & Vampiro Metalico
2) Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Cocolores vs 911, AK47, Fierro [super libre]

03/23: Mexico change, AULL, Tijuana

Ovaciones notes a change in tonight’s lineup…

CMLL (FRI) 03/23 Arena Mexico
1) Mini Olimpico & Ultimo Dragoncito vs Mini Violencia & Pierrothito
2) Leono, Maximo, Sagrado vs Goto, Ohara, Okumura
3) Alex Koslov, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II
4) Atlantis, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Perro Aguayo Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]
5) Marco Corelone, Mistico, Shocker vs Black Warrior, Olimpico, Universo 2000

Little late in the week to suddenly be making the semifinal a title match, but that’s what we’ve got. CMLL’s been pushing the idea of Sangre getting called up to the big leagues here and having a change to stick with GdA if he performs well – I think winning the trios titles would qualify. (Though I’m betting against a title change.)

Alexis put the poster for next week’s Dos Leyendas show here. Note that with Santo split from CMLL, they’ve changed one of the legends. Tickets are $5 to $27.

AULL (SAT) 03/17 Arena Lopez Mateos [the gladiatores]

2) Angel de Fuego & Euforia b Syka & Yakuza
3) Tortuguillo Ninja I, Tortuguillo Ninja II, Tortuguillo Ninja III b Mini Angel, Mini Demonio, Mini Rebelde
4) Ogun, Robin Maravilla, Terry 2000 b Conde Bartok, Negro Navarro, Psicopata
5) Alex Koslov, Hijo de Lizmark, Villano III b Black Warrior, Okumura, Satanico

Lizmark Jr. was LATE, so they had a break to wait for him. Dandy did commentary and teased fights with Satanico and Villano III (the IWRG fued) after the match. The AULL Tag Team Tournament ends on 03/31

AULL (SAT) 03/31 Arena Lopez Mateos
