Third match is in progress, with the rudos having taken fall 1.

Show started at 7:30, so maybe we’ll have an update soon.

To tide you over, read this preview. The author is sure Mistico will win, unless something real and unplanned happens like the “Universo sending Perro Aguayo Sr. match” (which I was 100% sure was planned..)

I did decide to stick around and do updates on the show. Now all I have to do is find updates on the show.

09/29: AULL, Guadalajara, Latin Lover

Discussion about the anniversary show is a post down from here. If you’ve got any questions you’d like me to struggle with on today’s Figure Four Daily, send an e-mail to Bryan Alvarez.

CMLL (TUE) 09/26 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Results
1) Fraile de la Muerte b Estrella de Jalisco
2) Valentin Mayo b Nube Roja
3) Mr. Power b Makabre
Makabre posted as message saying he’s leaving Coliseo Guadalajara, and wrestling with RXLL and indy shows.
4) Gallo b Magnum
5) Mascara Purpura, Sagrado b Cien Caras Jr., Sangre Azteca
6) Angel Blanco Jr., Black Warrior, Mascara Ano 2000 DQ La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Satanico
Rey Bucanero pulled Black Warrior’s mask. Might as well do it while you still can!

AULL (WED) 09/27 Arena Lopez Mateos Results [KrisZ]
1) Mr. Potro, Sombra Escarlata b Militar Jr., Sol de Oriente
2) Juan el Ranchero, Nick La Muerte, Super Panada b Psicopata, Tortuga Mutante I, Tortuga Mutante II
3) Ojo de Tigre I, Ojo de Tigre II, Ojo de Tigre Jr. DQ Coco Blanco, Coco Rojo, Coco Verde
Blanco pulled Ojo I’s mask.
4) Hijo de Fantasma, Rocky Santana, Terry 2000, Ultimo Gladiador b Black Terry, Rey Krimen, Sadico, Sepulturero
5) Atlantis, Fantasma, Ultimo Dragon DQ Averno, Mascara Ano 2000, Mephisto
Atlantis filled in for Heavy Metal. That didn’t work out well. Tecnicos were left unmasked.
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Silver King DQ LA Park, Super Parka
fouls by both Park(a) on both Wagners.

Today, Ovaciones correctly stats Mascara Ano 2000 lost his hair in Arena Mexico (not his mask.) Their list of anniversary mask loses are Faaron, Sangre Chicana, Tierre Viente y Fuego, Cien Caras, Shocker, Villano III, and Universo 2000, which still doesn’t seem right. (Villano III was in March, for one.)

Notimex previews tonight’s mask match by saying “there’s no clear favorite, although Mistico has a slight advantage.” Those Notimex guys are funny.

Latin Lover is telling people he’s postponing his TV work to go back to lucha. Maybe an appearance tonight?

According to Dave, they’ve banned all photographers from ringside. I gotta figure there were way too many expected, and that some will manage to get there anyway.

Speaking of multimedia AAA (former and current) types, Intocable is going to be on a soap opera called Duelo de Pasiones. The story is 95% about a Grammy nominated singer; the Intocable mention is way near the end.

like you care: I’m not sure what I’m going to do tonight; I’ve been thinking of going to IWA-MS’s TPI tournament show, but I haven’t been able to convince myself to go all week. (I have faith there will be great matches, I just don’t know if I’ll care, or be thrilled to get out of the building well after 1AM.) I’m leaning towards staying around my computer and finding out about the anniversary show, but the results are going to but the same whether I see them (and post them) at midnight or 9 AM the next day. If I ever get around to making a decision, I’ll let y’all know.

Quick picks for Friday

I’ll be on Figure Four Daily tommorow to talk the anniversary show, the Congress Lucha show (which I’ve quite milked for content this week), and lots of other things in lucha. It’s a free show, so I’ll post a link here when it goes up.

Like I said, one of the things we’ll be talking about is the annivesary show. Rather than wait for a few hours before the show actually happens to make some picks, I thought I should briefly write them here. Friday night, when none of it actually goes this way, you can laugh.

CMLL (FRI) 09/29 Arena Mexico
1) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei

Tecnicas should win, but the story here is who gets the pin on Hiroka. I think the hair match challenge last week by Lady Apache was a typical spat of trying to get his heat back by challenging for a match which will never happen, and I believe Hiroka holding onto the title means they’re headed to Dark Angel winning the belt (but that may still take a while – like next March.)

I think this is the best possible CMLL women’s trios match, though Sujei hasn’t looked as good in CMLL as she did in AAA. From what I can tell, the people who care about this division wrestling-wise are me and me alone. Well, me and the guy who’s booking it. (I’m not! I think.)

2) Felino, Sagrado, Ultimo Dragon vs Alex Koslov, Averno, Mephisto

Uh, rudos, not that it matters. This one is here to get Sagrado over as much as anyone, I believe. (Which doesn’t work at all with my prediction. Never mind!) Quite possibly MOTN.

3) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucanero vs Kenzo Suzuki, Marco Corelone, Olimpico

Dos seems due a pin back on ol’ Corelone. I wonder why he was left off the show to start with – maybe some MMA obligation he’s training for?

4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Groon XXX, Negro Casas vs Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila

Going out on a limb – this will not be a good match! Since they’ve explicitly said this is the Perros B-Team, I think the all star tecnico team has to win this. When this show was first announced, there was some surprise they were using Groon here, rather than save him for next week (or any week without a huge mask match.) It makes more sense considering the prices they’re charging for tickets (and PPV); even if Groon makes less of a difference, he’s going to be worth more on this show.

5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Shocker vs Atlantis, Tarzan Boy, Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL TRIOS]

I seem to be alone on this one, but I strongly believe the Guerreros team is winning this. I just can’t imagine the Perros winning this when they’ve already hinted at Shocker going his own way. The Guerreros have dominated this feud so far, which causes a bit of doubt.

6) Mistico vs Black Warrior [mask]

Yes, Mistico is winning, and he should, and the story will be everything besides the finish.

Who do you got?

09/28: AAA TV notes

Today’s Ovaciones features Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis eating some cake. It’s Atlantis’ birthday (though he wouldn’t admit to his age – 44), but they also made the point that beating the Perros was going to be no harder than eating birthday cake. Atlantis says the Perros are all bark. Ultimo explains his method for choosing the third member of the team:

- he would’ve liked to win the titles with Rey, but Rey’s a traitor
- Eclispe is too new, they don’t have the team work down
- Tarzan was previous trios champ before the team split, so he should get his belt back.

Olimpico’s not brought up. Sucks for him. Anyway, the Ovaciones reports hypes up CMLL employing 80 security members (inside the building – the police will be outside to help there), and the road in front of Arena Mexico being closed from 10 AM tomorrow until the end of the show. That sounds like something you’d do if you were expecting an overflow.

Box Y Lucha #2785 is all about Friday’s card, though they don’t have the updated lineup.

Lineups announced so far for this month’s run of TV taping:

AAA TV (WED) 10/04 Gimnasio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi Results
1) Mascarita Divina, Mascartia Sagrada, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Charly Manson, Mini Psicosis
2) Alan, Billy Boy, Decnnis vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II
3) Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Electroshock, Histeria vs Cuervo, Espiritu, Ozz, Scoria
4) Elegido, Intocable, Oriental, Zorro vs Alan Stone, Hator, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido
5) La Parka, Octagon, Super Porky vs ?, Chessman, Muerte Cibernetica

AAA TV (THU) 10/12 Plaza de Toros, Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo Results
1) Braba Roja, Drake, Kronos AAA, Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Angel Mortal, Apache, Gallego, Mr. Condor
2) Cinthia Moreno, Estrellita, Fabi Apache vs La Diabolica, Rossy Moreno, Tiffany
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera vs Cuervo, Ozz, Scoria
4) Elegido, Gronda, Laredo Kid, Zorro vs Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Electroshock, Histeria
5) Intocable, La Parka Jr., Super Porky vs Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido

AAA TV (SAT) 10/14 Plaza de Toros, Orizaba, Veracruz Results
1) Brazo de Plata Jr., Estrellita, Mascarita Divina, Pimpinela vs Apache, Mini Charly Manson, Polvo de Estrellas, Tiffany
2) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventued Guerrera, Psicosis II vs Cuervo, Espiritu, Ozz, Scoria
3) Angel, Elegido, Laredo Kid, Mascara Divina vs Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Electroshock, Histeria
4) Intocable, Super Porky vs Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr. [bull terrier]
5) Gronda II, La Parka Jr., Zorro vs Abyss, Konnan, Muerte Cibernetica

I think the 10/14 taping is where angles are going to start moving. You’ve got the double chain match, and Cibernetico is scheduled to appear, so that’s where he might officially turn tecnico. (Makes as much sense as anything. And Konnan’s there, so he’ll want to do something.)

We’re told the Kronos in the 10/12 opener is not Brazo de Plata Jr., but I’m not convinced. Even if it isn’t, we’re down to one Nemesis, so it’s at least a wash.

There’s a big show this Saturday in Panama.

Lucha Times

I could’ve sworn I posted this hours ago. Must’ve not hit post?

GALA: I think this is a first since I’ve been paying attention – the few people who get the West Coast feed will actually get to see the show first, because of various split feed wackiness. Thoe show itself has more first round Dream Tournament matches, a Atomicos title match, and a GPWC title match. I like the GPWC title belt, just because there’s no way you could spend more money on something and have it look so cheap.

FSE: Lots of interesting stuff here. Those with FSE may have already noticed the listing for this week:

“Virus vs Ramstein”

(let’s pause to allow Bihari to finish marking out.)

Now only if Mr. Mexico wasn’t in that match. Eh, you can’t be picky with a guy who hasn’t been in a lucha TV match in at least two years (unless I’m missing a Sin Limite appearance, and that’s possible.)

Next week, FSE starts picking up the MLB playoffs – which actually is a great thing for lucha libre coverage. They’re bumping the show to 12 midnight (though yahoo is telling me 1 AM), but they’re working in a buffer of 4 hours of various taped programming. One would assume, if there’s any over run (and it’s MLB playoffs, so there sure will), it’ll be taken care of before it gets to lucha. Of course, schedules are subject to change.

CAN52: Much more mundane. The practice of late would mean the Volador Jr. match airs here, though I don’t know if that’ll actually happen.

Congress Theatre multimedia

I don’t know why I take photos and videos on my phone. Everything’s blurry, there’s no movement correction, and I end up spending more time deleting it than using it. I took a bunch of video and photos – these are the two photos which ended up half decent. I’ve uploaded a video to You Tube as well, but it’s just a :14 clip of the end of the match. (You’ve seen this ending.)
