Rosters Added

I was going to do one of those grand monologues where I write for fifteen minutes about the logical reasoning behind one of my projects, but then I figured I never like how those bits sound and no one wants to hear it, so I should just skip to the part where I show you what I did.

WHAT I DID:

At these links, I’ve got picto-rosters of AAA, CMLL, and IWRG. There’s also lists of champions at the main roster page, a list of people I don’t currently have a picture for, features I’m planing to add next, and some stuff for down the road.

As always, the fuel for these projects are my own time/interested and your feedback. Post a comment below, or e-mail with features you think need to be added.

CMLL (FRI) 07/29 Arena Mexico Results [ova/O'Campo]
1) Neutron & StarMAN b Caligurla & Artillero
2) Dark Angel & Princesa Sugeith DQ Amapola & La Nazi
Sugeith had Amapola about to be finished off, and La Nazi broke it up, despite being already eliminated.
3) La Mascara won Block A of the G1 (Junior) spot tournament in an 8 man cibernetico. Other participants, in order of elimination, were: Apocalypsis, Arkangel, Tony Rivera, Loco Max, Virus, Maximo, Sangre Azteca.
Sangre was the last one left. Mascara faces the winner of next week’s cibernetico
4) Universo 2000, Apolo Dantes, Mascara Magica b Perro Aguayo, Hector Garza, Pierroth
Again the rudos didn’t get along. Again Perro and Universo challenged each other for a hair match.
5) GdI (Ultimo, Rey, Olimpico) b Mistico, Atlantis, Blue Panthers
Rudos took apart the tecnicos in the last fall, with much mask ripping. Rey ripped off Atlantis’ mask, pinned him with feet on the rope, and challenged him for a shot at the NWA MW belt. Huh.

The eight men in Block B:
Volador Jr.
Safari
Neutron
Nitro
Dr. X
Texano Jr.
Kronos
Leono

No Dos Caras Jr.

They seem to be picking favored sons, so one would think Volador or Kronos (although that pick would make this a little too transparent.) On the other hand, if they’re just giving to spot to La Mascara (and what a decision that would be), obviously Dr. X is getting the win so La Mascara can go over his rival on the way in.

As correctly predicted in e-mail, Super Lucha Grafico #2 focuses on Dark Angel. They showed off the cover before her match.

IWRG has a Marco Rivera/Starboy vs Dr. Cerebro/Cerebro hair/mask match on Thursday. There’s a Casas family (Negro, Felino, Heavy Metal) vs Mendoza family (Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V) match in Arena Lopez Mateos on Saturday. We’ll get to complete lineups on Monday.

07/29 news

Not much today. Ovaciones is in Arena Mexico preview mode. Looks like Caligula will fill in for Super Comando on the opener.

They’ve added Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs Canek as main event of the Sunday Coliseo show.

Emilio Charles is headed back to Guatemala next Saturday for a stint.

AAA show is tonight, as well. Ovaciones still thinks the loser of the AAA six man match is fighting midgets in a cage for his hair. It is so completely ridiculous, I hope they’re right.

I’ll have the G1 Part 1 results up this weekend.

Lucha Times

Mexican football moves the show around on Saturday; it’s a couple hours later on the east coast feed, and much alter on the west coast feed.

We should be getting the Mistico/Ultimo Guerrero match this week. Hope I didn’t just jinx it.

Sunday is the award winning AAA Rey de Reyes show. Though it’s more the “most worthless way to spend two hours of your time” sort of awards.

07/28 news

Ovaciones has an article, talking about the 63rd anniversary of the first time Rodolfo Guzman Huerta wrestled as Santo (which was actually a couple days ago.) El Hijo del Santo and Fantasma are working to have a Santo statue in Mexico City.

As far as el Hijo del Santo, he wrestled and beat Dr. Wagner Jr. in Tampico on Tuesday, via DQ when Wagner went for a low blow. Tomorrow, he’ll be in Cancun, teaming with Super Muneco to fight El Hijo del Diablo and Blue Demon Jr., and is also working on selling some watercolor and oil paintings he’s been working on. Santo is working on an Arena Mexico return for September, around the anniversary show and maybe for part of the Leyenda de Plata cibernetico.

Halcon.net #29 has interviews with CMLL rudo announcer Leobardo Magadan (he thinks the rudos are the only honest ones) and Princesa Sugieth (she’s a tiny bit nervous for her first Arena Mexico debut; Negro Casas saw her on a Solidaridad show, wanted her to tryout for CMLL, and was immediately put with Hector.) There’s an questionnaire with Super Comando, as well as the normal Arena Mexico, Arena Queretaro, and Arena Solidariad results (no LLF, oddly – no show this week?)

Tarzan vs Lizmark Jr. will main event Coliseo next Tuesday.

Vic’s got a recap of the Elektro/Bronco debut show.

CMLL.com is down because they’re exceeded their bandwidth. That’s what videos will do for you! (If they talk to their web people, they should be up soon. If they don’t, they’ll be up Monday. So think Monday.)

The Guapo U 2004 information is fixed. They’ve made more use of those guys than I figured at the time.

CMLL (MON) 07/25 Arena Puebla Results [KrisZ]
1) Sombra de Plata, Molotov, Zetta b Ares, Fuerza Tigre, Mister Rafaga
2) Tigre Rojo, Lestat, The Tiger DQ Escandalo, Espiritu Maligno, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Dark Angel, Amapola, Lady Warrior b Lady Apache, Marcela, India Sioux
So she did show. Huh.
4) Blue Demon, Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Olimpico b Mistico, Heavy Metal, Dr. Wagner, Dos Caras Jr.
5) Pierroth b Satanico [hair/hair]

CMLL (TUE) 07/26 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Pequeno Olimpico & Bam-Bam b Fire & Sombrita
2) Leono, Sombra de Plata, Sensei b Ramstein, Reyes Veloz, Mogur
3) Veneno, Dr. X, Arkangel b Metro, Kronos, Stuka Jr.
Rudos didn’t get along, but pulled it together.
4) Brazo de Plata, Bronco, Satanico b Emilio Charles, Okumura, Taguchi
Porky was in a throwback mode, wrestling in his 80′s gear and his 80′s stytle (less goofyness). Not sure there was an actual reason for it.
5) Tarzan Boy, Pierroth, Mascara 2000 b Hijo de Lizmark, Dos Caras Jr., Black Warrior
Tarzan low blowed Hijo de Lizmark

After that initial win over notUltimoDragon, Ultimo Guerrero jobbed in trios matches the rest of the tour. They may or may not actually be doing that mask match.

If you haven’t seen it, CMLL.com has modified it’s front page. If you click on those TV sets, you get a minute of action from last week’s shows (and the same song every time.) It’s a start.

ELL-Mex results

ELL-MEX (SAT) 07/23 Congress Theatre Results [cw.com board]
1) Mascara Universal b Silueta Azul
2) Mascara de Jade & el Tigre b Tyme Page & Reo
3) Arana Atomica & Amenza de Siglo DQ Yakuza & Infernal
4) Swat Cat, Principle Franky, Super Astro b Principe Azteca, El Dorado and Casandro
5) Kato Kung Lee & Mascara Sagrada b Mano Negra & Martin Escobedo

No one took results from Sunday’s show, but I imagine they weren’t too different.

The opening lineup for next months’ card is
Lizmark, Rayo de Jalisco, La Parka vs Universo 2K, Mascara Y2K, Blue Panther
Blue Demon Jr. vs El Hijo del Santo Lizmark Jr.? Maybe?

Take your best guess at what will actually occur. Congress’s site doens’t list a show date.

Next Chicago Lucha Va Voom

Tom Kenny was on Loveline last month, and I’m just now listening to it.

Besides telling a story about Dr. Wagner wanting to kill him for announcing during his match, he dropped the next LvV show in Chicago will be on 09/16.

Their website lists a Halloween show as next, so maybe I’m wrong? Or really late and things have changed?

07/26 news

That’s one old title belt; Canada stopped using that flag in 1965.

Most of Ovaciones today is recaps and updates of things previously mentioned: more talk of Atlantis/Wagner, reports that Tigre Metalico, Super Comando and Terrible are healing well, and Tuesday’s Arena Coliseo lineup.

In addition, there’s an interview with Kronos. They mention a feud with Guerrero de Futuro (huh – I guess he IS new), being a long time fan of El Solitario, and pump him up as a future CMLL Heavyweight Contender (listing him as at 1.87m, or 6’1″). His mom wanted him to get an education before she’d approve of him wrestling, like a lot of parents of luchadores, so he’s trained in computer programming. I wonder if he knows anything about php? Kronos does not mention any previous identities.

IWRG (THU) 07/28 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [IWRG]
1) Panerita vs Forastero I
2) Kit Tiger & Antaris vs Macho II & Rey Estruendo
3) Gallo Tapado Jr., Avisman, Rey de Corazones, vs Pirata Morgan Jr., Nemesis, Kalet
4) Marco Rivera & Star Boy vs Dr. Cerebro, Cerebro Negro
5) Negro Casas, Dos Caras Jr., Elektro vs Black Tiger, Pierroth, Bestia Salvaje

(SAT) 07/30 Arena Naucalpan Lineup “Black Shadow Tribute [boxylucha]

1)

1) Dark Scream, Apostol, Laser Boy, Excalibur vs Jupiter, Azufre, Dr. Bizarro, Cinico
2) Super Tri, Star Moon, Baby Maravilla vs Drako, Black Jaguar I & II
3) Matematico, Villano III, Ultraman, Mano Negra, Rambo, Brazo de Oro, Gallo Tapado Jr., Stuka Jr., Halcon Dorado Jr., Hermano Muerte Jr., Bobby Lee Jr., Blackman II [Shadow Cup Tournament]
4) Mill Mascaras, Blue Demon, Reyo de Jalisco Jr., Solar vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Angel Blanco Jr., Enfermero Jr., Hijo del Gladiador

IWRG (SUN) 07/31 Arena Naucalpan Lineup [IWRG]
1) Panteria vs Conde Negro
2) Antaris & Freezer vs Super Colt & Rey Estruendo
3) Coco Rojo, Coco Verde, Coco Blanco vs Gigolo Americano, the Hornet, Andy Barrow
4) Suicida, Matrix, Avisman vs Dr. Cerebro, Cerebro Negro, Fantasma de la Opera
5) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Felino vs Bestia Salvaje, Black Pentagon, Veneno

The cover of Box Y Lucha #2724 has that picture of Tigre Metalico’s injury, plus Satanico vs Pierroth and Shocker again running into Winnie the Kid. The poster is Lizmark Jr.

The Satanico/Pierroth picture is from them getting into an argument on a talk show (Mistico, Santo, Octagon and Shocker were also there), before their hair/hair match. Pierroth also took time to yell at Dr. Morales, which is nice.

There’s an article where Lizmark talks about going to Japan, which makes sense and all, expect he says he’s going in August and he’s going with Dos Caras Jr. I don’t know if we’re talking about two different things here or what; the middle of August is when the G1Japan tournament is, but we were told before that the World part would be in Januaray. There’s also a mini-tour for junior wrestlers in the middle of August, with a lot of it unannounced, so they could fit in there – or some completely other promotion, and we’re all getting our wires crossed. Figure it out when it happens, I guess.

There’s a story on Tigre Metalico’s injury. Olimpico talk about moving up the card since he turned rudo. Hector and Pierroth snipe at each other in article. They talk to Princesa Sujei and La Nazi before their first Arena Mexico match.

07/25 news [2]

CMLL (SUN) 07/24 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Polvora & Vaquero b Rayo Tapatios
2) Kronos, Tigre Blanco, Tigre Metalico b Zayco, Mesala, Guerrero del Futuro
If Zayco is Holocausto, maybe he got written out here? Dunno.
3) Felino, Brazo de Oro, Safari b Arkangel, Dr. X, Veneno
4) Hijo de Pierroth, Averno, Mephisto b Negro Casas, Black Warrior, Satanico
5) Groond XXX, Hijo de Lizmark, Rayo de Jalisco DQ Canek, Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy
The story wasn’t as much Fred’s involvement, but Rayo and Canek building a rivalry against each other. Both masks were ripped in the third fall, Rayo was busted up, and laid out with a low blow. One referee counted Canek’s fall, second referee saw the low blow and over ruled him. Canek wants a WWA Title shot, Ray wants a mask/mask match. I don’t know either is going to happen, but with Universo demasked and working more with Perro, and Wagner off with Atlantis, both guys are in need of rivals.

I’m missing IWRG’s Thursday results; I’ve got them elsewhere, I think. The big news was Cyborg beating Veneno for the title.

IWRG (SUN) 07/24 Results [ova]
1) Cat Man b Kako Dan
2) Super Colt & Fantasma de la Opera b Panterita & Frizer
3) Gigolo American, the Hornet, Andy Barrow b Marco Rivera, Rey de Corazones, Ultra Mega
4) Matrix, Avisman, Fantasma Jr. b Cerebro Negro, Cyborg, Black Terry
5) Scorpio Jr., Dr. Cerebro, Veneno b Heavy Metal, Felino, Suicida

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 07/25 Arena Puebla Lineup [ova]
1) Sombra de Plata, Molotov, Zeta vs Ares, Fuerza Tigre, Mister Raf
2) Tigre Rojo, Lestat, The Tiger vs Skandalo, Espiritu Maligno, Toro Bill Jr.
3) Lady Apache, Marcela, India Sioux vs Dark Angel, Amapola, Lady Warrior
I’d expect Lady Apache not to be there.
4) Mistico, Heavy Metal, Dr. Wagner, Dos Caras Jr. vs Blue Demon, Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Olimpico
It’s a good thing Tarzan’s two groups can team up like this, or he might be in trouble about his dual membership.
5) Pierroth vs Satanico [hair/hair]
The odds against Satanico aren’t exactly “beating Santo for his mask” long, but they’re still not good.

CMLL (TUE) 07/26 Arena Coliseo Lineup [CMLL]
1) Pequeno Olimpico & Bam-Bam vs Fire & Sombrita
2) Leono, Sombra de Plata, Sensei vs Ramstein, Reyes Veloz, Mogur
They should make ‘new character Segunda!’ a marketing gimmick.
3) Metro, Kronos, Stuka Jr. vs Veneno, Dr. X, Arkangel
4) Brazo de Plata, Bronco, Satanico vs Emilio Charles, Okumura, Taguchi
5) Hijo de Lizmark, Dos Caras Jr., Black Warrior vs Tarzan Boy, Pierroth, Mascara 2000

5) Mistico, Atlantis, Blue Panther vs Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Olimpico

CMLL (SUN) 07/31 Arena Coliseo Lineup [CMLL]
1) Zarco & El Payo vs Black King & Red Man
2) Rayo Tapatio I & II & Valiente vs Jeque, Polvora, Vaquero
3) Safari, Brazo de Oro, Metro vs Arkangel, Dr. X, Mr. Mexico
4) Felino, Satanico, Pantera vs Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura, Taguchi
5) Hijo de Lizmark, Lizmark Sr., Negro Casas vs Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Olimpico

Elsewhere:
- Cien Caras’ retirement tour hits Huejutla on Friday, with him teaming up with MascaraY2K vs Villano III and Mr. Niebla.
- On Saturday, La Mascara defends the National Welterweight Championship against Sangre Azteca in Arena Lopez Mateos. Main is Dr. Wagner and Rayo teaming up (!) versus Canek and Apolo Dantes.
- Sunday, Atlantis and Dr. Wagner start taking their match on tour, with a singles match in Guadalajara. Undercard has LA Park and Bronco vs Universo and Canek Jr. (odd team) and Texano Jr. and Flash II vs Cien Caras Jr. and Hijo de Cien Caras.
- I haven’t seen complete IWRG lineups let, so we’ll put that off another day.
