Demus wins/@cmllmagazine

CMLL (TUE) 08/10 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, @cmllmagazine, Cesar]
1) Metálico & Trueno b Mortiz & Semental
2) Dr. X, Nitro, Skándalo b Ángel Azteca, Ángel de Plata, Diamante
3) Demus 3:16 b Eléctrico, Pequeño Nitro, Saturno, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Olímpico, Fantasy, Cisne [cibernetico]
4) Terrible, Texano, Último Guerrero b Máximo, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Rotoporky
5) Charlie Manson b Hijo del Fantasma

Charlie took the first and the third, reversing a rana on Fantasma and grabbing the ropes to stay on top.

Demus dropped Electrico on his head to win this part of Torneo Bicentenario. Order listed is reverse order of elimination.

Pitlane.mx, reposting an article from ANN (?), says CMLL will announced the main event of it’s 77th Anniversary show this Thursday at a press conference. The article is built around an interview with Psicosis, who wanted a one on one with Mistico but is told it’ll be a multi man match with them both included. The format and participants are unknown. Since they’ve just run a cage match and the other big show of the year was a losers advance mask match, CMLL would normally try to repeating either of them. CMLL just doesn’t have many other options at the moment.

I’ll pass along the main event…just as soon as other people have reported it. That press conference should also feature Mr. Niebla’s latest return interview and hype for Sombra/Lyger.

Dr. X replaced Arkangel.

CMLL (TUE) 08/10 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Metalik b Thunder Boy
2) Black Metal & Magnum b Ebola & Rey Trueno
3) Gallo & Leo b Mr. Trueno & Ráfaga
4) Delta, Metro, Rush b Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu
5) Averno & Jushin Lyger b Máscara Dorada & Místico

Rudos took the first fall of the main event, tecnicos took the second. In the third, Lyger beat Dorada, Mistico pinned Averno, and Lyger sneakily pulled off Mistico’s mask before pinning him. Mistico and Lyger set up a singles match here for next week.

Nosfreatu replaced Polvora. Rush beat Loco Max in a preview of Sunday’s match.

Dr. Wagner Jr. is sure he can get revenge on Vampiro at Verano de Escandalo, “because the greatness of Wagner is unmatched.” He’s a bit concerned Vampiro & Silver King might conspire to take away his championship, so his plan is to beat one or the other really quickly.

AAA writes about a 04/10/96 AAA TV taping in Arena Naucalpan, which we don’t actually have in the results or TV index. Huh.

Kcidis draws Rayo vs Atlantis.

Dragon Rojo is getting a title shot again, which means it’s time to break out the list:

2009-10-30 Arena Mexico Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr. [MEX WELTER]
2009-11-08 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Máscara Dorada b Dragón Rojo Jr. [CMLL SL]

2010-04-12 Arena Puebla Máscara Dorada b Dragón Rojo Jr. [CMLL SL]
2010-05-02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Máscara Dorada b Dragón Rojo Jr. [CMLL SL]
2010-06-18 Arena Mexico Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. b Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]

The fascinating part is not Dragon Rojo’s run of failures, but how he keeps getting title shots when very few else do. On the surface, Dragon Rojo isn’t higher up than any of the rudos in the tercera, but he’s the go to guy for these matches and those three aren’t.

  1. I like Dragon Rojo – probably more than anyone else here. I don’t understand why young tecnicos have been rushed to the top of the card, but a guy like DR is kinda languishing in the mid-card. Then I realized that it is because there are virtually no veteran tecnicos you can program him against.
    I like Rojo – especially in 1-on-1 matches. I’d really enjoy a DR-Blue Panther feud….

  2. Like I said… there can be no logic applied to AAA/CMLL TV ratings.

Both Tues Arena Mexico and Tues GDL CMLL lineups are on cmll.com.

“AAA writes about a 04/10/96 AAA TV taping in Arena Naucalpan, which we don’t actually have in the results or TV index. Huh.”

I’m as confused as you are. No matches match up properly with what they have listed. But I question the accuracy of all that since the first line says AAA hasn’t taped TV there since 1996 but they did multiple Arena Naucalpan tapings in 1997.

“He’s a bit concerned Vampiro & Silver King might conspire to take away his championship, so his plan is to beat one or the other really quickly.”

This is funny b/c I doubt it will be elimination rules. In fact it was probably made a 3 way specifically so Wagner doesn’t have to get pinned.

Mini’s Torneo is already on youtube. I’m waiting till Saturday.

  3. just watched the new ras de lonas show. Can’t stop laughing at the new mascot of Bucanero, that’s so awesome.

  4. @Nikita: I like Dragon Rojo too

@Rob: The thing is, Ultimo Dragon was in AAA for only a short time, so that narrows down the timespan for that show to 1996, and there’s a main event that matches their main event. But the rest of the card is different.

  5. @Rob: Televisa changed the duration and start times. Again. That will fuck up anyone’s ratings. It would be like USA randomly airing a 90-minute RAW and/or changing WWE’s start time on a regular basis.
