Guadalajara, Porky/Intocable, NWA takes back it’s titles, Manson

I’ve received 3 tapatia ballots. You’ve got until Monday.

CMLL (TUE) 03/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Acertijo b Thunder Boy
2) Ráfaga & Titanio b Astaroth & Nube Roja
3) Astral & Saturno DQ Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito
4) Ángel del Mal & Asesino Negro b Gallo & Neutrón
5) Felino, Máximo, Mr. Niebla b Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Sagrado

Felino pulled Sombra’s mask and pinned him for the win in the main event. Pierrothito got caught unmasking Saturno in the tercera, which sets up a lightweight title match next week. Pierrothito is okay with this, as long as a mask match is next. Astral subbed for Dorada, who hopefully is not in trouble for working those Santo shows. (And why should he? It was clearly Mini Santo, not Mascarita Dorada.)

Tuesday Arena Mexico results have not shown up.

Intocable is accusing Super Porky of threatening to kill him. Intocable says he always saw Super Porky’s wife as a mother figure to him, so he was helping her out with money after Super Porky got let go from AAA. According to Intocable, Porky responded by leaving messages on his phone, threatening to kill him, because Porky thought Intocable was sleeping with his wife. Intocable assures us he was not. I dunno about this entire story. Carreto @ Box Y Lucha pointed out this story first, and a member of the Alvardo family responds in the thread. I’m not sure questioning Intocable’s wrestling skill and heterosexuality is the best defense, but it is the internet.

As of yesterday, the NWA World Welterweight Champion was Mephisto, the NWA Middleweight Championship was Averno, and the NWA Light Heavyweight Championship was Texano Jr. Today, it’s not particularly clear. Blue Demon Jr. (as NWA rep) held a press conference showing off new belts (same look, but they don’t have 40 years of use on them), declaring CMLL is officially prohibited from using their versions of these NWA championships, declaring these championships vacant and explaining they’ve sent letters to the commission to enforce these decisions. Demon then posed with the belts will people who clearly respect title belts, Los Perros del Mal. (Well, X-Fly had his title back anyway.) Of note, they had new light heavyweight and middleweight titles, but not a welterweight one, so maybe Mephisto’s in the clear. Demon says they’ll be holding tournaments for the titles, and CMLL and AAA are invited to send wrestlers.

I expect CMLL to respond by not responding at all. Or maybe they’ll just hold a match to show they can’t be stopped. This is not the first time the NWA and Demon has tried this, and CMLL hasn’t even acknowledged past attempts. The commission is probably going to end up looking bad here, not actually being able to stop CMLL.

The DF Box Y Lucha commission is said to be taking talking to people about Charly Manson dropping the belt. A post on Box Y Lucha says Perros del Mal was claiming the belt was with all along, but Fantasma wants to speak with Charly Manson about it. Charly is refusing comment on the situation, but people defending him claim Charly actually lost the Mexican Universal Championship, a belt that looked remarkably identical to the heavyweight championship. No one’s buying it.

Ovaciones and SuperLuchas posted photos of the Yellow Wave traveling to Teotihuacan, obviously trying to learn all the ancient secrets of Mexico to use against their opponents. Taichi posted more photos over on his blog.

Nicho is unhappy about not being on the Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera card. It is underwhelming, but I’m not sure Hermandad matches are helping. Now, a Nicho vs Juvi match…

Laredo Kid opened up his lucha libre school/gym yesterday, with the Psycho Circus signing autographs.

Televisa Deportes has a video chat with Ray Mendoza and Rey Bucanero at 8 pm tonight. Ask them if they have any idea what the Dos Leyendas card is yet.

Estrellas del Ring has photos of new Perros del Mal members Estrellita.

  1. The NWA and Blue Demon can call the belts whatever they want, however they will remain the same thing to everyone else … NOT WORTH ANYTHING!

  2. The way the legal system is nowadays what would be the bigger issue the death threats or calling someone a derogatory name?

I can’t believe Blue Demon is still arguing about the NWA titles. Actually, I kind of can, but I think its kind of funny how CMLL can give a crap about this. I’m sure they’d stop if Blue Demon and the NWA actually went the legal route and not to the commission.

  3. I’m not sure they would stop, they have had the titles since the early/mid 30s, way before the “NWA” in the United States.

  4. Poor Demon. Going to burn every bridge possible just so he can pretend he’s a star by walking around with that fake gold title. I can’t wait till someone says he has to lose it and he tells them to fuck off creating a new fake NWA title. The irony will not be lost on anyone.

  5. @Rob:

The only way Blue Demon is going to drop the NWA title is if he is a.) stripped of it or b.) screwed during the match. Blue Demon will not put over anyone in the NWA.

  6. There actually was a group on Facebook called something along the lines of “Bring the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Back to the US”, and the administrators of it were all NWA members. I found the group again, with the same settings and everything, and it is now called “National Wrestling Alliance World Title Group”.

I wrestled in the NWA for seven years when I lived in Pittsburgh. I ended up working for a number of NWA promotions, and I was extended an invite at one point to go work out at the Inoki Dojo. I know the NWA pretty well. More than kayfabe will allow me to discuss on here.

With that in mind, the NWA World heavyweight Championship is in the best possible place it could be right now – around the waist of Blue Demon Jr. Because it is an old and familiar looking championship with prestige surrounding it, it is better off in Mexico where it will at least be treated with respect and defended on shows in front of more than a couple dozen people. I would argue that the title is probably more visible right now than when Dan Severn carried it to the ring for UFC matches, or even when it was on TNA and called the “TNA World Title”.

I could care less if the belt ever comes back to the US. It is better off down there where at least Demon respects it.

As for the other NWA belts… I’d love to see CMLL keep right on using the belts they have, not acknowledging anything Demon says, and just not using the NWA name to piss more people off.

    You said:

“There actually was a group on Facebook called something along the lines of “Bring the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Back to the US”, and the administrators of it were all NWA members”

You realize that anybody can go on facebook and pose as NWA administrators. If you look on facebook you’ll find 20 different CM Punks, Melinas, etc. So I don’t put any stock in “celebreties” with profiles on open and free social network sites and BLOG sites Mr. “Nikita.”

If the real NWA administrators wanted Deomon to lose the title they would have him lose it, end of story.

  8. @Daniel: First off, the sites COULD very well be fake. You are right. But, a couple of them I know for sure were not, because I know the people, and they are their Facebook accounts.

2nd, its not like these are people posing as fake Steve Austins or HHH’s or something as is common. Who poses as a fake NWA Lucha Chicago? I guess the Rick O’Brien that posts on the DVDVR board is a fake one… even though O’brien and I have had discussions about what we have read on there in real life, face to face! LOLz @ you troll!!!

Third – there is a link to my REAL myspace on each of my posts (unless I do it via my crackberry). Click it. You will find more than enough contact info for me. And probably some pics you can jerk one to, ya lil’ troll.

  9. Oh, and Demon could easily avoid losing it by just no-showing that match.

Typical NWA practices at one time were that guys with BOD belts were paid whatever the promoters that booked them wanted to pay. That is why most BOD titles would sit virtually dormant for years – no promoter wanted to pay guys enough to travel their different territories.

It would not surprise me if Blue Demon was expected to pay his own trans to Charlotte to drop the title, and then in turn didn’t. This would in turn lead to Shatter and Pearce having a match for the vacant title. Considering that the crowd will probably be around 300 at best, my guess is THIS is the most likely scenario.

And before anyone says it, there are multiple REAL NWA World Championship Belts out there… I bet Demon just keeps his.

  10. Intocable thing seems funny that he say he has been threaten by super porkym i dont think cmll will say anything about the NWA belts so they might take it to the legal way to see who has the rights and it might take years to clear it

  11. Estrellita won’t last every long with the PdM because she’ll do the same thing what Olimpico did. Cry and moan about not being on top of the mountain, long enough. Good luck lady because you’ll need it.
