3) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Mesías, Extreme Tiger vs Chessman, Teddy Hart, Electroshock
4) Alex Koslov & Cibernético vs Crazy Boy & Jack Evans

projected air date
Mexico: 12/05 (rerun on 12/12), 12/19 (rerun on 12/26)
US: does not air in the US

Had to make sure to use the colors here. In fact, had to throw in a couple more colors to point out the WagnerManiacs and the completely unclear status of Cibernetico at the moment.  These teams are completely divorced from alliances – that has to be the point, right? Even though there’s nothing on the website to actually point that out? Either that, or the CMLL match selecting hat has jumped. There’s not one match with everyone on each side getting along.

Relevant point standings, as counted by AAA

15 Jack Evans
15 Dr. Wagner Jr.
12 Pimpinela
11 Marco Corleone
09 Elegido
09 Mesias

A wrestler can theoretically pick up a maximum of 7 points per show (3 points for the win, 3 points for the direct pinfall/submission, 1 point for the arbitrary Move Of The Show), leaving just these 6 as possible winners coming into this final taping. Obviously, Elegido’s not on the taping, so cut it down to 5.

Even more so, cut it to 4 – Mesias has no chance of winning. Even if Mesias picks up all 7 points, goes to 16 and everything else goes in his favor, he’ll still get passed by his partner Dr. Wagner Jr., who will get to 18 with a Mesias win.

As for the other four

– Marco has to get the direct pinfall to have a chance to take the championship, and Jack & Wagner have to lose their matches for Marco to do better than tying.

– If Pimpi gets the direct fall and the bonus ponus point, Wagner & Jack can’t simple have their teams win, but need to either pick a direct pinfall or a bonus point of their own.

– Jack & Wagner are about equal, and the favorites.

Jack seems like the best bet. He’s not stuck with a partner who he’s feuding with and has a good shot of picking up a bonus point. (Until they change the whole system again to give Mesias the win.)

Among the women…

06 Faby Apache
06 Rain
03 Mary Apache - not on this show
03 Koa - not on this show
02 Sexy Star
00 Jennifer Blake

Which ever side wins the opener is the high women. Blake and Star can’t catch up, with pushing Fabi & Rain higher past them.

The only minis who have points aren’t on this show. Perfect.

  1. HA! I remember when people used to make fun of me for overanalyzing Momentos clips and trying to decide who was good/bad/average based on only a few clips per year. I seem pretty sane compared to you trying to apply some logic to an AAA show that involves points!

    Here’s your final… *spoiler alert*

    EXTREME TIGER VS CRAZY BOY

    You do the math!

  2. What’s up with these points? I must have missed a post a while back explaining it… or can it not be explained…

    My head hurts.

  3. @LUKIE: These Lucha Libre Premiere shows are run under a special point system. This is the 4th (and last, for this year and maybe that’s it) taping that works this way.

    Luchadors get
3 points for being on the winning side
3 points for picking up the direct win
1 point for move of the ‘night’ (each show is 2 tapings, so they end up giving out two of these)
    -1 point for being DQed.

It’s very complicated. I think they’ve gotten the idea over on the shows this airs, but it’s not mentioned at all anywhere besides the website.

The idea originally was that whoever got to 20 points by the end of the year would be qualified for a Lucha Libre Premiere Championship, but then they ended up running half as many tapings as they seemed to plan and just started making up new rules as they went.

  4. Cubs is the lucha version of Charlie Epps! When I read this, I just imagined Cubs standing in the middle of space with numbers and names floating around him.

  5. I dunno, I kinda picture Cubs living in a bachelor apartment but instead of walls he is surronded by blackboards and he just spends all day running around doing various calculations to figure out various probabilities such as:

    – Mesias winning this tournament
    – Los Cancerberos ever winning a match
    – an AAA angle making sense
    – when the 3rd PdM TV taping will occur
    – various Chicago Cubs related stats and how they tie in with Mesias winning this tournament

I fully expect AAA to add a special point total to the next taping:

    – 5 bonus points for anyone who has lost three straight important singles matches to Dr. Wagner Jr.

  6. @CM93: Why of course!

Some day he wasn’t always like this. Something just snapped inside him after watching this year’s Triplemania main event…

  7. Is there anywhere one can find these episodes? I know Lover Ice uploaded one a few weeks ago that had Wagner/Jack vs. Teddy/Koslov, but is there anywhere else one can find some of the other episodes?

  8. Wagner and Electro turn on their teams, Ciber turns on Kozlov and returns to the technico side, Blake turns on her team andhelps the legion women win

  9. @K.D.B_31: That all makes way too much sense. The LLP shows have been pretty much devoid of storylines and I doubt they will introduce it here. They will most likely just pretend like the teams make sense and do the matches straight up.

  10. BTW- I’m traveling and this computer won’t let me “reply” directly for some reason.

Looks like CMLL 5.0 and AAA 4.5 in the Mexico City market, which is 1/3 of the entire country.

  11. a@LLL: oops. meant AAA 4.8 CMLL 5.1 Mexico City. Still another victory for CMLL.

That’s almost 400,000 tv households watching CMLL in the Mexico City market.

  12. oh. forgot to ask if anyone heard anything about the Lucha show in Queens on Sunday? Last I heard here was that it was moved to NJ.

  13. They had a double shot in both Queens and NJ. Main event was Santo beating Oliver John and Blue Demon Jr. Also featured the tag team of Super Porky and Tzuki. I can just imagine the amount of Alcohol that was consumed there.
