Lizmark Jr. out of CMLL, long digressions about tangential topics

The newest SuperLuchas mentions Lizmark Jr. has jumped to the Perros del Mal. There’s a tease for a Box Y Lucha article that seems to indicate the same. He’s still on the lineup for Tuesday’s show, and I think a no-show is a perfect way for him to go out. More seriously, CMLL had clearly given up on using him in any meaningful role; it’s really hard to get CMLL to fire you unless they think you’re done in the ring, but they it looked like it was going to be a long time before they’d give Lizmark Jr. a storyline; maybe just one too many no shows. Lizmark fits with the Perros and needs a new start, but going to a group without actual TV doesn’t give you a start of anything.

According to AAA’s lineups, Billy Gunn is working a spot show on 10/05. Rob thinks this is Billy Boy weirdly typo-ed. I will cling to that belief for now. You know, if you look at that link with Billy Gunn, the page name is “jkjkjkjkk” – I hope that means this is just a cruel prank and they’re really just kidding.

AAA lineups also include such randomness as “Alan Stone, suddenly a rudo” (redoing Intocable/Alan with Elegido woudln’t be the worst idea – that idea is BILLY GUNN), a mystery (female) tecnica on some of the shows, and a mystery (male) tecnico.

Cesar has a very well thought out piece about why Mexican wrestlers have had trouble making it to WWE (and other us promotions) and what changes those who have made it have done. I agree with all of it, but I think there’s a couple logistical explanations he misses. Cesar notes WWE’s given more developmental chances to those from the Caribbean, and it’s important to remember those coming in from Puerto Rico don’t need a passport. It’s been emphasized in the story about Angelina Love (famous ex-AAA star Angel Williams) being dropped from TNA that it’s quite a process to get a correct visa for foreign talent, and the barrier it becomes to foreign talent – TNA’s now only using wrestlers with working visa (and wrestlers are on their own to get them), and WWE’s talked in the past about setting up developmental territories in Canada and England so they could weed out people before having to wait to get them in the US. At least for those two countries, WWE runs TV tapings, and invited local wrestlers get an opportunity to showcase themselves in the ring and have a chance to make some connections. I don’t think this is ever done on house shows, so Mexicans don’t get those chances. WWE doesn’t scout, WWE barely knows what’s going on in the world around it, so no one’s getting their attention without some sort of connection.

One last thing is WWE seems much more likely to extend contracts to those who are really young and pretty much unknown (or willing to be treated as if they’re unknown.) The guys who come up in rumors are usually 30+ and midcarders or above in a major promotions – but not one that means much to WWE. It seems to be that the next guy to come from Mexico is much more likely to be someone who’s a near unknown to everyone outside their local arena than a household one.

Mistico told ESTO that, when Negro put La Mistica on him on Friday, he was very scared for the first time very that he might lose his mask. Reforma interviewed CMLL’s barber about cutting Negro Casas’ hair.

Lucha Va Voom got some press heading to New York, including in the Post.

SuperLuchas #331 has bald Negro Casas. Lock of the week is Sarita & Taylor Wilde winning TNA Women’s Tag Team Titles is in the cover next week.

Lineups!

IWRG (THU) 09/24 Arena Naucalpan
1) Guizmo vs Extrano
2) Imperio Azteca & Miss Gaviota vs Black Thunder & Hijo del Signo
3) Eragon & Jack vs Blasfemia & Xibalba
4) Bushi, Exodia, Freelance vs Avisman, Gringo Loco, Tóxico DF
5) Chico Che & Rigo vs Arlequin Amarillo & Arlequin Rojo [hair]

Arlequin Rojo has been unmasked for one week and is putting up his hair. This is IWRG. At least the rest looks interesting.

LUCHA FAN FEST (SAT) 09/26 Circo Volador
1) Kumo & Urko vs Halcon Guerrero Loco & Loco
2) Epidemia & Heavy Boy vs Goleador & Jack
3) Konami vs Dinastia, Angel Suicida [LLJL JUVENIL]
4) Dark Angel & Fuka vs Bullfight Sora & Princesa Sujei

The wrestling show attached to a giant fan fest. A million people supposed to be there and signing autographs; it’ll be cheaper to count the people not showing up.

CMLL (SUN) 09/27 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Trueno vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Amapola, Dark Angel, Mima Shimoda vs Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei [Relevos Increíbles]
3) Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Dr. X, Loco Max, Vangelis
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Sagrado vs Ray Mendoza Jr., Terrible, Tetsuya Naito
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. vs Black Warrior, Hijo de Lizmark, Último Guerrero

That match is listed as relevos increibles, but it looks more like “Dark Angel is getting KILLED.” The all ruda team is that new Zorras lineup. In CMLL universe, how do wrestlers get their matches? Why would Dark Angel ever agree to such a thing?

No Naito existing in a match without Yujiro.

CMLL (SUN) 09/27 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Nube Roja & Thunder Boy vs Katana & Skaxy
2) Magnum & Samurai vs Acertijo & Rafaga
3) Astaroth & Gallo vs Asesino Negro & Leon Blanco
4) La Máscara, Mictlán, Rouge vs Ephesto, Euforia, Virus
5) Místico, Shocker, Toscano vs Jushin Liger, Texano Jr., Yujiro

And Yujiro existing without Naito! Crazy.

IWRG (SUN) 09/27 Arena Naucalpan

2) Eragon & Pendulo vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Bushi, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco

5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.

Pirates getting another trios chance?

  1. Funny thing on the TNA show was Dark Angel doing her shout-out in Spanish. With that and Hernandez also speaking Spanish, I had to stop and think:

    six-sided ring
    people speaking Spanish
old people at top of card
    pointless garbage matches
    shitty booking

    Is this TNA or AAA?

  2. Even if Billy Gunn isn’t joining AAA you have to wonder what kind of disturbed individual we are dealing with when we speak of Miguel Fonsesca (AAA website dude). Who randomly thinks of Billy Gunn? That’s one individual I wouldn’t like to run into in a dark alley…

(Unless Billy Gunn recently returned to WWE or TNA in which case I’d be clueless about it)

  3. @Alfredo:

Well, from seeing the little spanish he’s spoken on tv, I can tell you he doesn’t speak it very well. I have no idea if it makes a difference to non-spanish speakers, but for me, he just murders the gimmick when he speaks spanish. It’s clearly not his thing.

  4. TNA has billed Sarita from Mexico, and passes her off as a Mexican wrestler. Shawn Hernandez speaks limited Spanish, enough to throw it into interviews. Billy Gunn works for TNA Wrestling as “Kip James”, so I’m not sure hes working AAA.

  5. lmao @ tromataker.

I will be shock if Billy Gunn does show up in AAA. I doubt it will happen but I will be shocked nonetheless.

  6. Dark Angel is now a belt holder in TNA, something CMLL should have done years ago. I think she isn’t going to be in too many more matches in CMLL. Unless they let her become champion and beat Amapola, which I doubt is going to happen. Dark Angel is almost gone from CMLL, so if you see her wrestle in Mexico it’s going to be a real treat not just an every day occurrence.

  7. Does holding a title in TNA even mean anything?

La Parka (AAA) is one of the biggest stars in Mexico and the only title he has is a tag belt that has only been mentioned once on television in over 3 years. How is it possible he is such a huge star without holding an important fake title?

  8. People can’t possibly believe he’s the original, can they?

That’s the only way I can explain his popularity.

What’s awesome though is I work at Universal Studios(okay, that isn’t that awesome) and I saw this little kid with his mom, and he was wearing a La Parka shirt. I said “HEY ALRIGHT LA PARKA!” and it totally blew the kids’ mind that this big white dude knew who the guy on his shirt was. Then I realized it was supposed to be AAA Parka and felt horrible for saying “HEY ALRIGHT!”

  9. So I click the link to Billy Gunn just to check it out to find that my work has blocked AAA’s website. The reason listed is “bikini/lingerie”. Color me confuzzled.
