We’re told this is a TV taping. We were told that last year, but, hey, it’s not like they’ve announced any other TV taping at this point. This looks like it could be a taping, outside of Octagon actually wrestling on TV.

Cibernetico and Alex’s turns appear official here. So sweet to see Cibernetico and Chessman reunited together.

Seems like the rudo teams in 3 and 4 should be swapped – shouldn’t Alex be facing Rocky and Sugi be facing Tiger? Oh, we’re headed to a multiman match probably.

Opener should be loads of fun.

  1. I will cry if the opener doesn’t air on TV. Not sure if it’ll be able to outshine the Leono/Fabian tag though…

As long as there is a TEAM KENZO right now – wouldn’t it be in everyone’s best interest to create a new version of the Mexican Powers? I mean the two groups are pretty much feuding – might as well make it a battle of Mexico vs Japan.

What’s left for Koslov after this turn goes nowhere? He left a great gig with CMLL to receive a phony belt from AAA which was taken off him within weeks. Now he’s a rudo and just happens to turn after the Legion is broken up and an only-Japan group is created. Amazing timing.

  2. I still want to see a mega feud with Cibernetico vs. CHESSMAN! That would be awesome on my eyes. The thing is CHESSMAN can actually wrestle!

  3. Kenzo’s team is called Los Yakuza. Since Japan and Russia are pretty near, I wouldn’t be surprised Koslov ends in that group after that Sugi dude leaves (or worse, turns tecnico).

  4. I can’t beleive Latin Lover is not on this one. The expo is SUPPOSED to be a show where the company showcases it’s best, and they’re not showcasing their best because they don’t have their best wrestler on.

  5. I think I know why AAA would say “TV Taping” when in fact it isn’t(well, last year this was the case). They need to say “TV Taping” to help draw.

  6. @CM93: Alas De Oro is usually in August so it should be coming up and probably will be very soon if they intend to use Sugi in it.

Strange how all three of my favorite tournaments have yet to take place this year: Gran Alternativa, Reyes Del Aire & Alas De Oro.

  7. @LLL: When did they said that last year expo was a tv taping?

It was announced at the last minute, iirc…

Am I missing something with that Sugi guy? He did very little on his debut last week… why would they want him on for a year?

How come everyone is talking about a new AAA show but Cubs has not said anything?

  8. @xuisaw: Cubs is the one who mentioned the new show (via the Observer). It’s on the right side of the page where his twitter updates are.

  9. But who told the Observer?

It is weird business wise, it would be like CMLL hiring MVS to tape 1 show in two days (2 matches on Sunday and 3 on Friday) so they could do better by just taping Fridays for both shows. But then Sundays would go untaped… unless they get a second show on ctres…

I read Cubs comments, but I don’t remember last year Expo ever being announced as a TV taping. For instance, last year, they did a show in Parque La Junta in Nvo Laredo, they never announced it being a tv taping, but somehow, RFC and others thought it was a tv taping and it was mentioned as such, but no one from AAA said it was. This year had indeed being announced in NotiAAA before the flu, and after, so it is a different scenario altogether.

  10. @thecubsfan: Why? It’s in Mexico City, where AAA runs one big show a year, can’t sell out, and does scattered spot shows(and the pix we’ve seen here from Pantitlan, ouch) that draw dozens, sometimes hundreds.

AAA is worried about their self-image, and they have to make sure they have a good crowd for their expo show. Saying “TV Taping” is what AAA needs as an advantage.

  11. Verano de Escandalo card is finalized.

8/21 – Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero (Verano de Escandalo)
    1. The Psycho Circus (Killer Clown/Psycho Clown/Zombie Clown) vs. Los Yakuza (Oriental/Takuya Sugi/Kenzo Suzuki)
    2. 5 Way Dance for the AAA Cruiserweight Title: Extreme Tiger (c) vs. Jack Evans vs. Rocky Romero vs. Teddy Hart vs. Alex Koslov
    3. Tables & Chairs Match for the AAA Tag Titles: Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario (c) vs. Elegido & Gronda II
    4. Marco Corleone/Octagon/La Parka Jr. vs. Electroshock/Silver King/Ultimo Gladiador (who has turned rudo with no one reporting it)
    5. Street Fight: Charly Manson vs. Chessman
    6. Steel Cage Match where the last person must shave or unmask: Aero Star & Fabi Apache vs. Billy Boy & Sexy Star
    7. 3 Way Steel Cage Match for the AAA Mega Heavyweight Title: Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. Cibernetico vs. El Mesias

  12. Hey can anyone tell me what channel AAA is on in the USA and what time I know it used to be on Galavision but is it anymore?
