What happened: Volador will represent Mexico in the upcoming Elite International Tournament, which will pushed through the show.

What was good: I liked both matches.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel and AztecaDeporte’s website.

The show flashes back to Rush’s martinete, and suspension, and then today where Rush doesn’t really seem to be bothered much about the whole thing. Maybe because it’s now over? We’re briefly shown a bit with Dr. Zavaleta, Rambo and Rush where Rush is given a deceleration of being un-suspended. It’s not emphasized, it’s not even visible if you don’t freeze frame it, but the paper says he’ll be suspended for three months if he does it again, and his license will be revoked if he does it a third time.

Review: [good] Better than expected. Not sure if Magno was motivated because he was getting the big win, or he was just more comfortable this time, but he looked superb in this match. Easily his best performance on this show, and the best guy in the match. His bumble bee outfit probably should go, but he made all the técnico offense looked good while looking strong in his parts of the match. Magno made this match go. Magnus did alright as a rudo, but he and Golden Magic had some odd hesitations when working together and it didn’t look as smooth as it should’ve been. Magic & Cometa made a pretty good team though. Hijo de Dos & Hijo de Wagner came off as just guys.

Winner: Volador
Match Time: 22:54
Notes: Modified royal rumble rules: eliminations are thru pinfall or elimination, but not over the top. Which is good, because Dorada is doing over the top to do a super headscissors on Tiger in the first 10 seconds. Tiger is no longer wearing his shoulder brace. Elite plays Mascara Dorada’s video for Rush. Rush beats up Tiger & Dorada by himself, and they’re all by the announcers when Carístico enters. Shocker throws his chair at Rush later on. This causes the announcers, and the production team, to completely miss Extreme Tiger being eliminated. You can see it happen in the background very briefly, but it’s not even brought up when they switch from the “live” shot to the studio voice over.

The match stops (and there’s an edit) after Dorada takes the package piledriver, which continues to be sold like death. Cibernetico goes right after Rush. Super Crazy takes photos with a selfie stick on the way to the ring. Crazy’s either lost weight or found better fitting gear. Crazy is not in long, but stays in long after to show off his blue tongue to the camera. Rush gets himself Dqed by pulling off Atlantis’ already loose mask. Cibernético thens pers rush and goes for the pin, but Rush is already out of the match. No revenge today. Edgar is busy trying to get Atlantis’ mask back, and misses Diamante Azul giving Cibernetico a bridging German suplex for quite some time. Diamante Azul gives up before Edgar comes back, and then everyone is completely list as what to do, everyone just staying around. Azul pulls cibernetico back in the ring, Cibernético gets a week trip for a two count, then Azul supelxes him again for a three count. (That could’ve used an edit.)

Match turns into a Volador/Caristico vs Diamante Azul/Escorpion tag match for the final four. A shot of the light rig mounted camera (and faux cameraman) is repeatedly used to cover up edits. Lots of near falls, and Volador and Rey Escorpión near land on the bottom rope on the Spanish Fly. Volador and Carístico exchange big moves, with Volador getting his foot on the bottom rope on a Mistica. A first attempt at a Volador Mistica falls apart, with a cover up pin. The second attempt works, and Carístico gives up.

Carístico offers Volador a title match when he wants, demands Volador represent Mexico well, and challenges Volador to a mask vs hair match.

Review: [good] a lot stronger than the previous multiman matches on this show, though the iffy moments in the middle still took it down a notch for me. The start of the match (Tiger/Dorada) and end of the match (Carístico/Volador, even before that when they were against Azul/Escorpion) were superb, and brought back memories of the best parts of the Liga Elite tournament. The rapid fire eliminations didn’t go as well, and everyone freezing when Cibernético & Azul couldn’t get their count the first time was embarrassing. The action was really good when there were a limited amount of people in there, but turned into a lot of people standing around waiting for two people to do their elimination spot for a while and that’s just not good. Still, there were great teases of stuff maybe to come – this Liga Elite tournament has to last long enough for us to get the Mascara Dorada/Rush match, because Dorada was so fired up to do it. And the way they eliminated Rush before Cibernetico got his revenge was really well done. Production was a problem in this match. Beyond the Tiger elimination, which I only noticed because I was doing this recap and confused as to where he went, there were other issues. They did edits at some times but always using the same hanging cameraman shot, and no edits on a couple of really obvious botches (the blown Mistica at the end for one.) This was a much better attempt at this sort of thing, but still needed some refinement.

Highlights of the second and fourth matches are shown. Announcers use the El Hijo de Amo de Ocho Angulos name. Guerrera work hard, though there’s still obvious weaknesses with the new guy. The highlights don’t get a good shot of Octagon losing his mask.
