Princesa Sujei, new t-shirt/CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 10/12 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Trueno b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Dark Angel, Princesa Blanca, Sahori b Hiroka, Princesa Sujei, Rosa Negra
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Stuka Jr.
4) La Máscara, Máximo, Mictlan b Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Terrible
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. b Black Warrior, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Volador subbed for Alex. Rey won the first fall with a low blow on Hector, and Hector pinned him in the second (moonsault) and third (small package.) Hector wants a shot at Rey’s title. Rey has the CMLL Light Heavyweight Title, I guess I need to point that out.

Perhaps Rey won’t be teaming with the Villanos after all.

Mictlan was Grey Shadow’s sub here again. Rudos could not function as a team and lost. Perros turned on Olimpico.

Even the CMLL.com report suggests the Infernales were more favored than the tecnico team.

This was dark Angel’s return to the ring, and she looked fine. Probably wrestled good too. If CMLL really has gone anti-foreigners and pro-long time local workers (like Marcela, Amapola, and Lady Apache), Sarah’s never ever going to win a title, is she? Sad. Maybe they’ll just keep on going on their own pocket universe and everything will be okay.

Is Semental part of Ola de Laguneros? Is Angel de Oro? Will this angle go on long enough that it’ll force me to learn how to spell tha right without running to Google for spell checking? So many questions.

  1. “” Is Semental part of Ola de Laguneros? Is Angel de Oro? “”

They got to CMLL in the same wave (via UG), but who’s in the faction or klique is unclear. Angel de Oro is actually from Gdl, I’m not sure if his family moved to Torreon or (it sounds at times) he went there seeking for lucha training. In the later scenario, he would be the brightest guadalagarian ever.

  2. ESTO has the new Sunday lineup.

Garza vs Bucanero for the belt.

    Panther/Parka/V-Jr. vs Villanos/Terrible

    Hijo Del Fantasma/Mascara/Sombra vs Satanico/Euforia/Nosferatu

Also in news that might make Henrik happy – Neutron is in for an injured Metalik in the opener on Friday.

  3. @Rob: Metalik being out really screws GDL, seeing as he’s in the final of the tag team tournament this week (and probably was going over.)

  4. I presume then Olimpico/Ultimo won the first bracket which would have set up an incredible final.:( Maybe he’ll be okay by Sunday. Could be a typo on ESTO’s part but those lineups are usually good.

  5. Sure it’s good to see that Neutron’s still around, but i’m really only interested seeing him in a Tuesday segunda or on a Sunday in Guadalajara.

It’s a shame as well, because even in openers, it’s pretty clear from the pics and momentos that just about everyone raises their game on Fridays. In comparison, Tuesdays and Sundays are just going through the motions, getting a couple of signature spots in then going home.

I know CMLL are stupid and clueless, but for openers *never* to air, there must be a deliberate reason – they must have some sort of strategy where they believe that it’s in the company’s best interests to ensure the undercarders are inaccessable to TV viewers. Surely you would think that the more exposure they give to everyone, the more of a name they’ll make for themselves around the country, and the better it will be for the company. And it’s not like they’re keeping them off tv due to them learning their trade and they’ll be moving up to TV after a year or so – because for most opening match guys, that ain’t the case at all, and their are just as many green guys thrown in further up the card who need the experience.

Imo, the crazy thing about it is, opening matches are more likely to translate better to TV, as they don’t really have the charisma and presence of a top star, so they make up for it with their good ringwork, innovation etc.

    It’s crazy.

  6. @Henrik: On the CTres and MVS shows at least, I would suspect the TV networks themselves get to choose what airs and reflexively choose to higher matches because they’re “bigger stars”.

  7. Chui had an interesting theory about the undercarders some time back. Perhaps he’d like to share it again so I don’t try to explain what he said and end up butchering it?
