You know how I sometimes complain about AAA doing three months of angles on one show, and then no angles for three months? This was the one with all the angles.
The show started with another promo. I’ll let you know when AAA blocking their show out like WWE stops being hilarious. Konnan was in ring with the urn, calling out Roldan so he could hand over his demands (which go unrecorded in AAA’s recap.) Roldan came out with security, who were promptly taken out by Jack, Teddy, Zorro and Electro. Roldan had more help, and Chris Stone, Alan Stone, Killer Clown, Zombie Clown, Psycho Clown (Psycho Circus is AAA!), Octagon, and Super Fly ran out to attack the Legion. In the scrum, Alan got the urn, but it turned out to be a fake. Konnan gave Roldan a two hour dealine to accept the demands, or else.
Opener doesn’t get much write up, just the Apaches beating the rudas.
As the second match was going on, D-Generation-Mex interrupted from the stage to introduce their newest member, Alex Koslov. This distracted Jack & Teddy and cost them the match. After the match, DGM hit the ring to confront Hart Foundation 2. Alex was about to hit Jack with a chair, but X-Pac stopped him, saying they wanted to recruit Evans for the group. X-Pac and Rocky proceeded to beat up Teddy and Nicole with a (sledge?)hammer, causing Teddy to be strechered out.
Clowns are at 210 wins now. The Dark Family (Espiritu replacing Ozz for no mentioned reason) might have won this match, if not for Chessman trying to help out and accidently spearing Espiritu. Psycho covered for the pin.
Fourth match saw Octagon get tied in the ropes and Super Fly killed again like a jobber. After the match, Konnan said the time was up and he wanted Roldan out now. Roldan did come, but instead of meeting Konnan’s demand, suggested a match where if Konnan wins, he keeps the ashes and gets to run AAA, but if Roldan wins, he gets the urn back and Konnan has to retire from wrestling. (I presume they’re having others wrestle this match for them, but it’s not made clear.) Konnan accepted, because he can’t be too worried about having to retire from wrestling; it takes something to show that clip of Konnan losing the retirement match every year while he’s still wrestling, it takes something more to do another match with him and a retirement stip.
Chessman got DQed in his match with Mesias. There’s a mention of excessive violence, but that doesn’t seem to exist in AAA. They also mention him hitting Hijo de Tirantes, which does get you a DQ here. Chessman tied Mesias up in the ropes in a crucfix position (of course!) and poured gasoline on him. Right when Chessman was about to burn Mesias alive, the Dark Family came out – and turned on Chessman. After they finished beating him, they set upon burning Mesias themselves. I guess they really wanted to be the one to do it! This time, Cibernetico made the save for Mesias. And then, the Psycho Circus showed up, and challenged Cibernetico to a match!
If you followed all that, on one read thru, give yourself a gold star. The end product is we’ve got Chessman split right back off from Cuervo/Ozz/Espirtu/Escoria but both groups are still feuding with the iffy Mesias/Cibernetico alliance. And the Clowns are here too.
AAA suggests this may set up a Chessman/Psycho Circus alliance which would not only has potential for entertainment, but could give the Psycho Circus something approaching an endgame (the Dark Family’s atomicos titles.)
In the main event, Zorro lost. That’s all Zorro gets. It seems like Zorro and Konnan are having issues about who’s in charge. Chessman also interrupted the match to challenge Cibernetico to another match. After Cibernetico won, Chessman figured there’s no time like the present and attacked Cibernetico. The save was made by Charly Manson’s music. Charly came out to the stage and said “I have decided to go with…
…
…
…” and then he just left. What a jerk!

Ahh… several angles in one segment. Aweeeeeeeeesome.
I can’t believe they “split” the Black Family and Chessman back up already. Not so awesome, but still!
#2 by LLL on October 11, 2008 - 1:34 pm
Wow. Just one six-man match. Fewest we’ve ever seen on a AAA taping?
#3 by xuisaw on October 11, 2008 - 1:46 pm
Probably not since there are times they do many Atomicos. What I don’t get is why are they doing tapings on Fridays. It’s OK doing them that day in Madero, since that’s be how it is always done, just like Wednesdays in SLP and Mondays in Leon (and Nvo Laredo), but Queretaro and Veracruz?
#4 by Alfredo on October 11, 2008 - 1:56 pm
That opening segment on Verano De Escandalo with Konnan’s promo, Roldan’s response with bonus footage of Konnan rapping/dancing on that talk show (I think it was Veronica Castro’s old show), followed by Konnan getting tossed out of the building was really good.
#5 by LLL on October 11, 2008 - 1:58 pm
For as long as I’ve been following AAA, Queretaro has been a Friday tradition for AAA. Not sure why.
#6 by LLL on October 11, 2008 - 2:33 pm
The segments on AAA have been better than ever. Meanwhile, CMLL airs segments that just kill the aura of their stars. Did you see that garbage on FSE a few weeks ago with Perro Jr., and his girlfriend(or did he say fiance?)? It was horrible, showing him at home, acting humble, almost whipped, while his girlfriend said she thought he was chubby when they met.
#7 by KrisZ on October 11, 2008 - 2:40 pm
Ah yes, AAA is War.
How long before we get reverse steel cage battle royals
#8 by Rob on October 11, 2008 - 2:55 pm
I understand AAA wants to compete with the WWE but is there anyone with power in AAA who might want to consider the fact by trying to copy the WWE stuff AAA is just coming off as second-rate?
I don’t even want to try and figure out the angles they did on this show. What was the point of 3 months worth angles involving Chessman turning leading to everyone turning on Mesias if they’ve already split? What happened between September 14th and October 10th that caused La Secta to turn on Chessman? So stupid.
#9 by LLL on October 11, 2008 - 3:23 pm
“Yo Soy AAA”. That’s what the t-shirts in the front row say. Kind of like “Yo Soy el Army”.
#10 by LLL on October 11, 2008 - 3:44 pm
xej is working in case anyone forgot.
#11 by Rob on October 11, 2008 - 3:46 pm
How’s that? It’s off air for me.

#13 by Rob on October 11, 2008 - 3:59 pm
Ah, a new link. Would have been nice if they replaced the old feed link to avoid confusion.:/ Thanks.
#14 by xuisaw on October 11, 2008 - 4:52 pm
The angle would have worked better had they had any people in attendance. What’s your expectation for next show’s attendance? 6000?
#15 by Daniel on October 11, 2008 - 5:47 pm
So if Konnan wins he’ll run AAA. That would be art immitating life.
#16 by thecubsfan on October 11, 2008 - 6:51 pm
@Alfredo: The mixed tag match was even better. So great.
#17 by Rob on October 11, 2008 - 6:57 pm
Sarcasm?
#18 by thecubsfan on October 11, 2008 - 8:05 pm
@Rob: Nope.
#19 by C on October 11, 2008 - 10:15 pm
The mixed tag match was indeed awesome.
#20 by xuisaw on October 11, 2008 - 11:29 pm
@LLL: I think they’re already married.
Speaking of that… Cesar also said that Misterioso is the one banging Goddess, I think he has a family back home, so I hope they don’t read the ByL forum.
#21 by thecubsfan on October 12, 2008 - 12:29 am
@xuisaw: hope they don’t read the comment threads this week either – http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/?p=3428#comment-15956 – hey Cesar, if you’re reading the site, feel free to comment on anything.
#22 by xuisaw on October 12, 2008 - 12:46 am
Hehehe, I missed lots of stuff for being over in mty…
But I don’t see the point of replying to that old stuff, so I just speed read most of it.
So the anniv has not been aired yet? Morales and Co. were saying it was airing soon, but in the most recent show, they didn’t mention that again.
#23 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 12:51 am
So Leo = Cesar? It’d be much easier to respond to his great ByL posts if I knew I could toss in some English since my Spanish sucks.
#24 by Tim on October 12, 2008 - 1:44 am
Did Shelley Martinez show up with Degeneration Mex like had been rumored?
#25 by xuisaw on October 12, 2008 - 1:48 am
As far as I can tell, no, they didn’t. I mean, she didn’t.
#26 by LLL on October 12, 2008 - 3:50 am
Goddess and the King of Yogurt? Funny. Better than working LLF in front of 20 fans and getting color in a weapons match.
#27 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:10 pm
X-Pac starting the AAA TV show today to no reaction at all while doing crotch chops like it’s 1998 REALLY makes AAA look bad.
#28 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:13 pm
And now they’re re-doing a RAW angle from 1998 with Austin (Roldan) destroying Vince’s (Konnan) car. Remind me again why Konnan is too afraid to just go beat up Roldan?
X-Pac says “SUCK IT” while reading off a cue card (really) and the crowd sits in silence.
You are gonna LOVE this show, Cubs.
#29 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:24 pm
Due to the new segments to feature the guys who get the most TV time anyways – it seems like AAA isn’t airing the opener any more. So mini’s cut for the second straight week.
#30 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:27 pm
HOLY FUCK that was an insane spot by Gato Eveready!
#31 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:34 pm
Decnis’ new submission finisher is crazy.
#32 by xuisaw on October 12, 2008 - 3:35 pm
Pimpi has been using that for years.
Allan looks much better or at least flashier with that Gato gimmick, the crowd seems to be there just to watch Ciber though.
#33 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:41 pm
Alan is doing great. Shame he’s Mexican.
Pimpi’s version is more of a Shocker-esque Reinera while Decnis did an Atlantida style move which I like more. But he’ll never be able to do that with bigger dudes.
I’d like to see a 3 way feud with Gato/Decnis/Billy Boy.
Pena Memorial – October 24th in Veracruz.
#34 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 3:54 pm
Pepe Casas is the dumbest ref alive. He just raised Pirata’s hand as Pirata held Elegido’s mask.:)
#35 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 4:13 pm
I love how amateurish this show is. Shadow rips off his mask and says “I AM ROCKY ROMERO!”
What follows?
Less than 1 second later Arturo Rivera says “Ricky Romero?” and then the announcers argue over whether it’s Ricky or Rocky.
#36 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 4:15 pm
heh DX even has a replica video from the WWE. Can they use that music legally though?
#37 by xuisaw on October 12, 2008 - 4:24 pm
So they pushed one week back the Veracruz show?
I think they’re better having Verano de Escandalo early in August in Madero and pushing back Gdl to early October.
#38 by Alfredo on October 12, 2008 - 4:47 pm
@Rob: They didn’t even bother changing the music? That’s even funnier.
Meanwhile, I watch FSE with Tony Rivera vs. Loco Max in the main event.:(
#39 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 4:52 pm
Yep, they are using the original DX music which I would think the WWE owns.
The Vamp/S-King/Aero Star vs Secta match wasn’t too bad aside from when Vamp was in the ring. La Secta really seem afraid when he’s throwing them around and there was a funny moment where he got clotheslined in the back of the head and took a back bump for some reason.:) Finish was really good and Aero Star really came off like a star in the match so I approve.
The problem is less than 0.5 seconds after the big finish they went straight to commercial which kills the segment dead. It’s like those TNA segments where the announcers are screaming “OH MY GOD! SAMOA JOE IS DEAD! HOW WILL HE EVER RECOVER??? Let’s go to JB with Tracy Brooks now.”
#40 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 5:19 pm
So to make sure the entire Konnan angle fits on TV, they edited out the entire second half of the main event. Makes sense to me.
#41 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 5:25 pm
This is really WCW-ish with the has-beens trying to book themselves angles from the past that they’ve already done of never got to do.
Konnan always thought he should be a big star promoted by Vince McMahon. Now he’s doing the Austin/Vince angle and making himself the centerpiece of the promotion.
X-Pac has never been the same since his DX days so now he’s trying to re-live them.
Then you have Vamp/Mesias which is a whole different story.
It’s like a parody promotion at this point.
#42 by LLL on October 12, 2008 - 5:52 pm
What I hate is when AAA goes to a commercial, comes back and shows nothing but replays of the previous match, and then goes to another commercial break. That’s just poor planning.
Well, you’re going to see lots of foreigners/outsiders taking over AAA angles.
The DX music is owned by Vince, but if you pay rights fees to BMI or ASCAP, you should be able to get away with it.
#43 by Rob on October 12, 2008 - 7:14 pm
I’d make a very healthy bet that AAA isn’t paying rights for anything.
#44 by Tim on October 12, 2008 - 7:18 pm
So is AAA going to be dead in a year?
#45 by thecubsfan on October 12, 2008 - 7:20 pm
There’s a very slight chance X-Pac has special personal permission to use this music. Very very slight, but it exists; I’m pretty sure that’s the deal with the name.
#46 by xuisaw on October 12, 2008 - 7:27 pm
Both AAA and CMLL are paying the rights for the music they’re using, that’s the reason We Will Rock You, Bad Medicine, Wine of Aluqah, etc. are gone.
#47 by Rob on October 19, 2008 - 3:23 pm
Opening match was cut which seems to be the definite new thing to fit in all the Konnan segments that start the show. So Billy Boy will probably never make TV again.
Very interesting to see the Psycho Circus standing with AAA tecnicos they’ve been destroying for almost a year now. I guess we don’t put thought into storylines unless they relate to the Foreign Legion.
#48 by Rob on October 19, 2008 - 3:30 pm
*L* The camera was on a longshot as Koslov unmasked and/or they edited out the unmasking and just cut to his promo. This TV is like comedy hour!
#49 by Rob on February 19, 2009 - 10:42 pm
This was such an awful show. I loved Koslov’s debut though. No pop at all. Even less than when AZUCA (who?) showed up. I have three theories:
1) Romero/Koslov are purposely doing this parody gimmick to audition for WWE roles. They’re trying to show Vince they will do the most pathetic gimmick without any complaints. Vince likes people like that.
2) They don’t realize how pathetic the gimmick is b/c they’re too high to notice. This is the most likely scenario if you’ve seen the overly gay youtube promos with Azuca and Koslov touching each other too much while staring into each others’ eyes in a… very… awkward… way…
3) There is no third theory. It has to be one of the above two or nothing in the world will ever seem right to me.
This show was the height of how awful AAA has sunk. Then again, I have yet to reach the show where Konnan did the nWo style takeover to start things off. That should be something…
