when the tope doesn’t work, just back into them

Omar Brunetti, Sky Kid, Smaker vs Boby Zavala, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca: Two falls, but not any shorter because of it – this might be the longest match since they changed formats. Most of it was the rudos just smothering the técnicos, and then the veteran rudos generally leaving it to Zavala when it came time to take the big sequence of técnico team moves. Odd how that worked out. They’ve set up the tag title match but they haven’t made it compelling.

epic can’t stop splashing moment

Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Ephesto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible: The kind of easy match where Mascara Dorada does a rope walk moonsault. (To be fair, he made it look easy.) Crowd had fun, wrestlers had fun, just not a memorable TV match. Second fall had the wackiest set of warmup splashes to a Super Porky splash ever. Mascara Dorada can’t stop jumping off high things.

rope walk moonsault is no problem

La Mascara really nailed that rope

La Máscara vs Shocker: Longer match than it needed to be and never really any good. This wasn’t a disaster but was just there most of the way. Shocker tried to get a good match out of La Mascara by just beating him up immediately and not giving him time to be dumb. It didn’t quite work, because Shocker can’t do make things work himself for that long, but he tried. Rudo La Mascara has the same loose offense as técnico La Mascara, but with complaining. No one with a kick based offense seems to miss or pull more of them than La Mascara. That middle rope took a heck of a heel kick in the second fall, not sure why it knocked out Shocker. Crowd did cheer for Mascara, because Shocker was a better rudo. They worked the match that way, especially with Shocker putting on hold after hold near the end (the better to allow Shocker to catch his breath), but Mascara was still keeping his usual act. Crowd seemed amused at the mask pull finish, not angry.
