Shocker & Casas hold onto the tag titles, AAA iPPV, Electroshock vs Jarrett in a cage?

CMLL (FRI) 07/18/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Akuma & Guerrero Negro Jr. b Leono & Sensei
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón b Misterioso Jr., Puma, Sangre Azteca
tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Dalys, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca b Lluvia, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit
straight fall for the rudas. Marcela was DQed in the first, and Blanca illegally helped Sedcutora win the second.
4) Máscara Dorada, Valiente, Volador Jr. b Ephesto, Felino, Hechicero
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Stuka Jr. b Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3, Dragon Rojo beating Escorpion while Stuka did the same to Polvora. Atlantis suggested the mask match with UG take place at the Anniversary show.
6) Negro Casas & Shocker © DQ La Sombra & Rush [CMLL TAG]
Rush & Sombra took the first, Shocker & Casas took the second. In the third, Rush beat Shocker with a Rush Driver, Casas beat Rush with a casita, and Rush interfered for the DQ. First defense for Shocker & Casas.

It appears Casas was about to win, or at least had Sombra in a near certain casita, when rush ran in for the angry man DQ. They built up two paths to victory for Casas – he could beat Rush, and Rush could beat himself. As always, Sombra considers it a win if they humilate the tecnicos.

Common sense suggests CMLL will take advantage of the one of the biggest crowds of the year and announce Ultimo Guerrero vs Atlantis in a no foolin’ mask match on Juicio Final. (They also should have announce a date.) Not always sure we’re dealing with common sense, but they’re moving that direction.

AAA posted English and Spanish language teasers for the TripleMania iPPV. There’s no official press release, but there is a big graphic on AAA’s website. TripleManiaTV site is now listing the price of the show at $13 USD (180 MEX) if you purchase before the end of the month. (No idea what it’ll be later.) Again, I really hope this works but buyer beware. It won’t be available on traditional PPV unless something changes. I don’t know if this means anything, but there’s no mention of the show being available on demand after the fact – it’s listed simply as Watch Live. I would assume it would be, but it’s a new company so it’s hard to be sure. The About AAA has gotten an overhaul, definitely needs a bit more tweaking, but does reveal the obvious news of Myzteziz being on the card.

AAA already posted a bunch of vignettes from today’s AAA TV show, including Electroshock challenging Jeff Jarrett to a hair vs hair match in a cage (to keep Sociedad.) Hey, if they can combine the never-any-good cage match with the never-any-good Jarrett TripleMania match and make room for a good match, I’m all for a cage match. I think think is probably happening if AAA’s mentioning it on TV this close to TripleMania, but they’ll still probably throw other people in this and neither Electroshock nor Jarrett will lose. If there’s anything we know about Jarrett, it’s that it takes quite a few major shows to get to the blow off match.

Electroshock also teases a surprise to counter Karen Jarrett. Lady Apache coming in to set up a couples feud seems to make sense, but I haven’t heard her mentioned up to now. Lady Apache doesn’t seem to have found a lot of indy work and she’s be a great addition to AAA.

There’s also an inexplicable Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. mystery admirer storyline. It’s Mamba, isn’t it. Isn’t it.

A Toluca report on Thursday’s show on AAA doesn’t have much in the way of results, but lists a return date of 08/21 (Thursday after TripleMania) with a main event Myzteziz, Argos, Argenis vs Mesias, Averno, Zorro. That’s Mesias on the rudo side but also Argos on the tecnico side, so it may be meant to be a relevos increible. Mesias being a rudo would be surprising news, since he’s believed to have turned down that switch late last year. That show would also mean AAA can’t be heading to Los Angeles immediately after TripleMania, since Myzteziz and Mesias figure to be part of any El Rey tapings.

Segunda Caida reviews Chanoc y El Hijo del Santo vs. Los Vampiros Asesinos

Estrellas del Ring writes about Cuernavaca luchadors who’s names are also used by others. The multiple Fenix/Ave Fenix’s are a plague, but generally people need to be more creative with names. Almost any single word name is or was being used by someone else.

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 07/23/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Black King vs Power Bull
2) Alfa & Omega vs Matrix Jr. & Muerte Infernal
3) Emperador Azteca & Látigo vs Hip Hop Man & Zurdog
4) Alan Extreme, Golden Magic, Miss Gaviota vs Canis Lupus, Rayan, Spartan
5) Diva Salvaje, Relámpago, Veneno vs Danny Casas, Eterno, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000

A show. They’ve obviously trying to conserve money, but they also appear to be conserve brain power. And some very familiar people have been very conspicuous by their absence.

No points for guessing Black King is Kalim Black’s new gimmick.

2) Goya Kong, Marcela, Silueta vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente vs Puma, Tiger, Vangellys
4) Máximo vs Ripper [lightning]
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Titán vs Rey Escorpión, Shocker, Último Guerrero
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Video promo for the show.

What’s easier: turning Volador or listing half the main events as Relevos Increibles?

Weird that Shocker is around but in the semimain. He’ll obviously get involved in the main event.

I can already see Dragon Rojo and Rey Escorpion showing up to the Anniversary press conference and asking to be included in the main event contract.

Would be looking forward to the tercera if there was a chance I could actually see it.
