Blue Panther, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión: Edited to glorified highlights on TV; you want the Terra version if you’re going to watch it at all. In usual Fox form, the post match replays included spots not worthy of actually being shown in the match. There really wasn’t time left for teamwork, but I liked Pólvora faking a foul on no contact at all.
Atlantis, Máximo, Super Porky vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero: Another Atlantis/Ultimo Guerrero trios match, with the Alvarados interrupting from time to time to do their own separate match. If Atlantis is going to take that painful looking fall of the top rope in every match with Guerrero, it’s only fair that UG gets shoved to the floor harshly frequently as well and he did so here while trying to get in the senton de la muerte. Gran Guerrero still has timing problems, even when working comedy.
La Máscara & Rush © vs Negro Casas & Shocker for the CMLL World Tag Team Championship: Good match, bordering on great. There were a few iffy moments but the overall match was good. Rush and Casas have been great and continue to be great, but Shocker’s participation in this feud has been his best stretch in lucha libre in years and years. Shocker seems much more motivated and up to the level of the other two. Not so much Mascara, who came of easily the fourth best guy in this match and the one most prone to messing up spots. Rush and Mascara worked complete rudo in this match, and Mascara didn’t seem comfortable in that new role. There were too many Japanese style Fighting Spirit no-selling spots in this one for my taste, but the crowd got into the match over all. I believe at least 80% of the CMLL referees would’ve blown the finish by refusing to count the final pin on Rush. Luckily Tirantes was in a charitable mood (and they did scoot away from the ropes enough to make it work.)
Cavernario vs Dragon Lee in a En Busca de un Idolo match: Good match. Dragon Lee’s dropkicked to the floor looked great in this one, but I liked the kick reversal spot to set it up nearly as much when I watched it again. Lee’s kick spots look good; there’s a thought he should replace his brother as Místico, but I’d hate to lose the things he does well to make him a clone of a clone. Cavernario has a lot of things he can do, which works very well in a match like this – he was able to use them to be a little bit more of a rudo in this one compared to the other matches, and he’ll have enough different stuff to keep trios matches interesting when he’s back in those.
Hechicero vs Cachorro in a En Busca de un Idolo match: Good match. Match has its own story, with Cachorro nearly getting the killer tope to start the match, then battling all the way back to get the same opportunity and getting into the second time. Hechicero didn’t get to as much in this match as some of the others, but suffocated Cachorro for a large portion of the match. Hechicero just overwhelmed Cachorro in the end, though I kind of wonder if the finish had meant to come on the flip spot a moment earlier. They go thru spots so easily it never feels like they’ve actually done some wrong.
