Triton’s neat climbing turning huracanrana

Black Metal, Stuka Jr., Tritón vs Maléfico, Misterioso Jr., Sangre Azteca: Triton’s finish in the second fall was just absurd agility and justified the existence of the rest of the match in itself. This was the start of the Stuka/Malefico feud, but the local guy didn’t really show anything noteworthy. It was also an oddly laid out match. Tecnicos made the comeback in the second match, and then again in the third fall, with the rudos randomly getting back control in between falls (in action we didn’t see.) Announcer called Malefico’s finish here a cristo negro, which is the same thing they call Olímpico. The moves don’t look at all like.

triple tope

Casas demands a slap

La Máscara, Titán, Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Rey Escorpión: about as generic a trios match as you can get. Valiente was pretty nice towards La Mascara given Mascara beating him up last time they were both on this show. Maybe that’s because La Mascara was more or less back to normal from his usual behavior, back to wrestling as straight técnicos (and stumbling a bit during the later half of the comeback.) He did still do his Garza spots. Titan getting a pinfall and the tease of a straight fall técnico win is the only that sticks out – even the finisher pinfall break up bit is nothing novel and everyone seemed a little bit lost when that ended – they had to straight redo the star set up spot because it was so messed up.

watch out Shocker

La Sombra, Máximo, Rush vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Shocker: Best match on the show, though not without it’s flaws. Rush encouraging Máximo to hit Casas hard, then Casas breaking free of Rush just to yell (and slap) the same thing was hilarious the first time, but then they kept playing that note and the match kind of drifted in the first fall. Máximo played pacifist, which is not a great role for a luchador – or maybe his favorite kind of assault is just of the sexual variety, since he had no problem biting Bucanero’s chest. Bizarre referee screw up in the second fall, where Rush clearly kicks Shocker’s cradle, and the referee just kept counting. Still, the brawls with Shocker & Sombra and Rush & Casas were both good brawls and the early Máximo stuff only annoyed because I wanted to see more of those fights.
