trying to make Canelo’s finisher better
Black Metal double springboard plancha

Black Metal, Magnus, Stigma vs Canelo Casas, Demonio Maya, Skándalo: About usual segunda level. Tough match for Stigma, who got beat up for pretty much the entire match and took the Skándalo Driver instead of actually getting a comeback. Magnus looked fine, Black Metal looked better than his DF matches. Demonio Maya has a good clothesline. Highlight of this match was the other rudos failing to understand how to set up Black Metal for Skandalo’s low blow dropkick, causing Skándalo to wander over to set it up himself. Good thing Black Metal was comatose for long enough to allow Skándalo to get his spot in.

Dark Angel censoring dance

Dark Angel, Estrellita, Lluvia vs Amapola, Tiffany, Zeuxis: Short but well worked women’s trios match. Nothing out of the ordinary (and no Zeuxis craziness except her wacky bump out of the ring near the end.) It’s been so long, I forgot Lluvia had that ridiculous submission. It rivals Canelo’s finish. At least she got to do the Sexy Team dance.

wacky submission

hard fought win for Sombra

La Máscara, La Sombra, Valiente vs Cavernario, Herodes Jr., Rey Bucanero: This match is the worst. Not only are Sombra & Mascara up to their recent antics, but Herodes and Cavernario spend the first fall turning on Rey Bucanero (because of Peste Negra/TRT issues?) and then just forget about it for the next two falls. Likewise, La Sombra lays down to give Bucanero an easy second fall win as if he couldn’t care about the match, then is shown one minute later double moonsaulting his way to the win. The booking is questionable, the decision to air this is even more so.

Volador tope con giro

Volador Jr. vs Rey Escorpión: really nothing but near falls. The same near falls they’ve done in previous matches, and the same near falls they’ve done in other matches where there’s been an actual match around then. The first two falls might as well have not existed (except they did reuse those finishes as near falls later on) and the rest of the match was just the last five minutes of a much better match. I’m not sure if this was just edited this way or worked close to it – that first fall time is definitely unedited, because it bled right in from a prematch attack – but it’s possible the full length match didn’t have a lot more to it. Maybe this is one which is better if you haven’t been watching a lot of these two.
