Drago & Faby Apache vs Dark Cuervo & Mary Apache: Okay mixed tag match, but Mary Apache hasn’t been as sharp this time thru. She takes big bumps for her sister’s offense but isn’t the destructive force she’s been in the past and it’s missing a bit from these matches. Cuervo is Cuervo. Drago gets two seconds of victory before Sexy Star is stomping him in the face, and I’m not sure why Tirantes even coutned that much when he was slow count before. The Sexy Star and Jennifer Blake run-ins felt like they were brought to the TV show and they had to find some way to use them, but didn’t really have much of an idea. It definitely looked like they had no idea (and also that Tirantes was signaling them their spots.)

Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Niño Hamburguesa vs Dark Ozz, Dark Scoria, Dark Spíritu: A Mexican Powers exhibition match which the La Secta won for no particular reason. It’s hard to imagine the main event was worse than this one – this was totally missable. La Secta were so sloppy that there was a point where I wasn’t quite sure if they meant to dropkick Joe Lider low or just missed. They were also very lazily using chair shots for quite a while. The set up to Niño’s cannonball in the corner required a lot of standing around for quiet a while. Not sure if it was this outfit (or the other ones hiding it better), but Crazy Boy looked very heavy in this match.

Australian Suicide vs Pentagón Jr.: Very good match. Both are talented but haven’t been getting many shots in singles competition so this was better than would’ve been expected. It was going to be a challenge to hold it all together by their own and they were up to it. A few things didn’t go quite right but the match overall was well done. This match seemed set up for Pentagon to dominate and Suicide to valiantly fight back, but it instead turned out to be Suicide controlling most of the action and Pentagon more in a supporting role. It didn’t seem like Pentagon was close to winning at any point – even when he almost hit the piledriver, that was just to setup a headscissors reversal – but they were able to put together some good near falls with Suicide’s offense. The flip huracanrana could’ve been it and everyone would’ve been fine with that. Match overall was on the short side, but they just cut out the early feeling out part by having Pentagon attack off the bell – the action worked for the time they had. Would like Suicide to be able to actually celebrate his win instead of the usual rudo beat down, but grateful they kept Jennifer and Sexy from interfering in the match itself.

better than last week!

Angélico & Jack Evans © vs Daga & Steve Pain for the AAA World Tag Team Championship: Great tag match that felt a lot longer than 12 minutes in a good way; they packed a lot in here for that amount of time. Pain & Daga worked very well together for their real tag team match, and Jack & Angelico are just a machine. Bits they’ve tried in other matches – like the German suplex escape into a double stomp and a head kick – looked better than they have elsewhere. Daga almost won with the choke and almost landed the big move a couple of other times; he looked very good despite the loss. Maybe the biggest flaw of the match was one out of their control, that it took place in a relatively quiet Minatitlan building instead of Toluca or Naucalpan or anywhere more reactive. They did react to the win, but not to the big spots as much.

Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Hijo del Fantasma, Silver King, Texano Jr.: I am so bored with this rivalry that I went to the thesaurus to find a better word. Consejo versus Psycho Circus is blasé. I’m fatigued with this rivalry, apathetic even. This is the best possible Consejo trio (unless/until Averno gets added to the group) and they tried to mix it up a little in the early, but the Psycho Circus worked their normal match with the addition of more Mini Clown spots. Tirantes was a rudo in the opener, neutral in the tag title match, and back to being a rudo in the main event. He’s the worst.
