Escorpion keeps his title, tag title match scratched, luchadora benefit show

CMLL (MON) 05/05/2014 Arena Puebla [Periodico Enfoque]
1) Meyer & Paris b Ares & Guerrero Espacial
2) Canelo Casas, El Rebelde, Flyer, Hechicero, Star Jr. b Asturiano, Blue Center, King Jaguar, Tigre Rojo Jr., Toro Bill Jr. [cibernetico]
Puebla vs Gen14. Hechiero defeated King Jaguar for the win. Asturiano was hurt in the match and strecheted out.
3) Boby Zavala, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora b Black Panther, Cachorro, Stigma
Black Panther replaced Blue Panther.
4) Rey Bucanero, Ripper, Shocker b Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Rush
Rey Bucanero replaced Negro Casas. Ripper beat Azul to set up a title match next week.
5) Rey Escorpión b La Máscara [CMLL LH]
Escorpion won with a powerbomb. Appears worked as normal (Mascara not playing rudo.) Rey Escorpion’s 9th defense.

Blue Panther is also off Sunday’s card in Guadalajara. Mexico City’s not sending a replacement; Esfinge and Maximo move up spots and Exterminador’s added to the card.

CMLL pulled Friday’s tag team title match. All four luchadors – Rush, La Mascara, Negro Casas and Mr. Niebla – are off the card. A minis match has been added as the segunda, with the Marco Corleone match now taking place after the En Busca de un Idolo matches.

There’s no explanation of why the match has been pulled. Rob threw out the guess that the luchadors may be suspended for their weapon antics by the Mexico City lucha commission. It appears some weapon usage (Peste Negra’s garbage can) is okay. The pictures showed Niebla using a small wooden ramp and Rush using a chair, which is out of the ordinary. Negro Casas did not appear last night in Puebla, which could be related, but Ripper wrestled as scheduled and Sombra hasn’t been pulled from his Sunday title match. (Maybe only certain people were suspended?) This could also be some angle CMLL hasn’t gotten around to explaining – it’s always hard to tell. The best test of something being up is tonight’s show – Negro Casas should be their coaching, and Mr. Niebla should be on the judging panel. Something may be up if they don’t appear, otherwise it may just be a strange change of plans.

Sagrado replaces Mistico and Rey Bucanero replaces Euforia tonight in Arena Mexico. That messes with the main event a little bit, since it seemed a straight Guerreros/Atlantida trios match to set up a trios title match and they’ll need Euforia for that. En Busca de un Idolo matches tonight are Super Halcon Jr. vs Hechicero and Star Jr. vs Cavernario. CMLL’s preview is here.

Mistico says his operation went okay but he was in so much pain he couldn’t sleep, and then posted a photo of one his 15 road burns. It sounds like he’s doing okay and in a good mood, so the painkillers must be working.

Aeroboy submitted Tony Casanova on Chilanga Mask’s stop in Rosarito. Mr. Maldito & Platino defeated Los Traumas in the rematch and the Traumas demanded a rematch on their homeground in June. Meanwhile, Zeuxis vs Chik Tormenta has been added to 05/25 Chilanga Mask show and Zeuxis is interviewed in DiarioBasta.

Rob has highlights of 02/11/14 CMLL.

Rocky Santana & Romano Garcia vs Bombero Infernal & El Gallego in a super libre match main events Arena Lopez Mateos this Saunday.

SuperLuchas says there are more matches featuring wrestlers from previous generations than ever, and argues it’s because the matches are more popular. I would argue that it’s because there are just more wrestlers who’ve aged into being from a previous generation but haven’t stopped wrestling than ever.

I guess we’ll find out if they’re popular enough – there’s a plan to debut a new promotion named Leyendas Inmortales de Lucha Libre at 05/18 in Coliseo Coacalco. It’s the usual assortment of 80s-90s names, and they really should have no problem filling up that arena. No matches are announced yet, but they do plan to run Plan Sexenal on 06/01 as a tribute to El Dandy. I wonder if that’ll be the latest last Dandy match. (I’m not upset about that, just find it hilarious.)

Atlantis defeated Ultimo Guerrero by DQ for the Lucha Azteca championship, which continued it’s streak of always changing hands.

Lady Flammer won the Copa LLF Juvenil for the second straight year.

Crazy Star (Veracruz) lost his hair in a four way extreme match.

DJ Spectro writes about Medico Asesino vs Polo Torres in a mask versus cash match.

Lineups

X La Lucha (FRI) 05/09/2014 Monumento a la Revolución, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal
1) La Magnifica vs La Diabólica del Caribe, Paloma Rouse, Big Mama, Yuca La Potranquita, Keira, La Hielera, Dama de Hierro, Princesa Dorada [cibernetico]
2) Cinthia Moreno, Esther Moreno, Lola Gonzalez vs La Chola, Miss Janeth, Tania La Guerrillera
3) Lady Apache vs Rossy Moreno

There was a press conference to promote this show show yesterday. It’s a benefit show for other luchadoras; Pantera Surena is specifically mentioned as needing help. I’m uncertain how you raise money on an outdoor show which appears to be free – there’s something I’m missing here, but it sounds like a good cause.

IWRG (SUN) 05/11/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Alfa & Omega vs Fulgor I & Fulgor II
2) Ángel Del Amor, Astro Rey Jr., Metaleon vs Araña de Plata, Hip Hop Man, Imposible
3) Dr. Cerebro, Toscano, Veneno vs Apolo Estrada Jr., El Hijo del Diablo, Eterno
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Danny Casas & Hijo de Máscara Año 2000
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Hijo De Dos Caras, Súper Nova vs Demon Clown, Pirata Morgan, X-Fly
Wagner’s first match here since October. Demon Clown’s debut.

Demon Clown is a mystery. Maybe one of the Clown Corporacion after a typo? Maybe Demon Rocker after a typo? Maybe Demon Clown from Guatemala? Probably not Demon Clown from Guatemala.

CMLL (MON) 05/12/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger, Milenium, Tigre Rojo vs Centauro de Fuego, Cholo, Inquisidor
2) Asturiano, Meyer, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Warrior
3) Blue Panther, Stuka Jr., Tritón vs Cavernario, Ephesto, Misterioso Jr.
4) La Máscara, Super Porky, Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
5) Diamante Azul vs Ripper [NWA LH]
Diamante Azul is champion, 3rd defense.

I completely forgot Azul held this championship. Segunda is a minis vs tecnicos; sounds like Asturiano is OK enough to be excited for this.

  1. Well, if Niebla is suspended, just means another appearance for Dragon Rojo.

    Buenos Noches, zacarias.
