Sombra, Rush and La Mascara versus everyone, En Busca de un Idolo

Terra

CMLL (FRI) 04/25/2014 Arena México [CMLL, Terra]
1) Dragon Lee & Sensei b Espiritu Negro & Zayco
Tecncios took 1/3.
2) Estrellita, Marcela, Silueta b La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
Tecnicas took straight falls, clean. Near the end, Blanca wiped out Sugehit with her dive, and those two shoved each other post match.
3) Súper Halcón Jr. b Soberano Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
Valiente was guest judge for this show and Shocker returned to the panel. Halcon won via moonsault in 5:22. Súper Halcón Jr. scored a 8 8 8 5 for a 29. Soberano Jr. scored a 9 7 7 5 for a 28.
4) Hechicero b Star Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
Hechicero won via Mad Scientist Bomb. Hechicero scored a 10 9 10 8 for a 37. Star Jr. scored a 8 7 6 10 for a 31.
5) Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Máximo, Super Porky
Rudos took 1/3. After the match, UG reminded Atlantis of his threat to quit if CMLL didn’t give them the mask match, and pressed Atlantis to make a similar demand.
6) Mistico, Titán, Volador Jr. b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Puma
Puma replaced Rey Escorpion.
7) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker b La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush
Mascara, Sombra and Rush crossed paths with Mistico, Titan and Volador in between matches. Sombra, of course, attacked Volador and that lead to Rush’s trio laying out Mistico’s trio. “Tecnicos” won fall 1, but lost the next two. Niebla challenged Mascara & Sombra to a tag title defense (though it doesn’t seem clear who Niebla would be teaming with.)

The concept pushed in post matches interviews was a Rush, Sombra and Mascara faction. No problem with Mascara in that group if he’s the one taking all the losses. Don’t think it’ll work out that way. He could also just be here to take one loss – he’s got to be here as long as they’re dealing with the tag team titles, but maybe not after. Terra uses the “Bad Boys” name that was briefly assigned to the Rush, Mascara, Titan trio. Rush & Mascara attacking their recent trio partner actually bugged me more than Rush attacking his own brother, but that’s the anti-Mistico feelings. It’ll be interesting to see how this is shown -if they bother to show it. (They really should’ve just put a clip up last night if it’s meant to be an important thing.)

CMLL can do rudo groups which don’t get along with other rudos – see the Revoulcionarios versus the Guerreros, and the Tuareg and the Cancerberos – but forming a distinct group of tecnicos who don’t get along with anyone else hasn’t been in the skill set previously. It would create a lot of different matchups, but it’s hard to believe CMLL is actually interested in pulling this off. Sombra teams with Mistico on Sunday and Titan on Tuesday; if he’s the back normal friendly chill Sombra, then we know this isn’t going to work out.

Didn’t seem clear which Princesa was going to be a tecnica. Seems like a bad idea for either one of them to be a tecnica. Many weeks of women’s matches to come until they do break up.

Current En Busca de un Idolo standings

285 Hechicero
204 Soberano Jr.
196 Super Halcon Jr.
191 Star Jr.
174 Cavernario
155 Cachorro
155 Dragon Lee
129 Guerrero Negro Jr.

Cachorro is short about 20-25 points because CMLL forgot to give him any fan poll points for the week. Super Halcon is listed as 197 points on the website, 1 more point than he should actually have.

AAA posted a PREVIEW OF THEIR TELEVISION SHOW!!!! Show starts 15 minutes earlier this week, with the opener (Argenis, Ludxor, Venum contra Super Fly, Eterno, and Carta Brava), the semimain (Blue Demon vs Villano IV) and the mixed tag title match (Faby & Drago vs Sexy & Pentagon vs Mary & Cuervo) from Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera. Simply advertising which matches will air on your television show is a thing I’ve been asking/begging/demanding for years and years and I really should’ve made it the headline when someone did it. I’m so pleased.

Espiritu Negro mentioned on Facebook that he signed a contract with CMLL on Friday. I have no idea what a contract with CMLL actually means. Maybe a vague promise of matches per month?

Averno and Sin Cara are listed as facing off on Tuesday, which is the earliest known match between the two. Averno’s not listed in any CMLL cards past Sunday for the moment.

Durango’s Fulgor and Rey Tempestad visited Mexico City. This is the Fulgor who was on the Arena Cuatuepec show last weekend, not either one of the IWRG ones. (There’s plenty of Rey Tempestads too.) Durango Fulgor said IWRG Fulgor contacted him on Facebook and wanted to meet him at the show to settle the name issue, but IWRG Fulgor didn’t show up. Still, if you’re coming from another part of the country and you know someone’s already using that name there, then it seems like it’s on you to change your name while you’re visiting. Both Durango luchadors mention no one’s running shows where they live, so luchadors from their area have been forced to go elsewhere to find work.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo recapping this week’s Tercera Caida.

Perros del Mal hype their 05/02 match against La Parka, Cibernetico and a mystery person. That sure seemed like Sin Cara’s debut when it was announced, but it’s far less certain now.

Los Dinimitas say CMLL needs more guys like Rush & Shocker and less Mistico clones.

Bufete del Amor won the main event of this week’s Puebla bull ring fair free show.

  1. They were promoting this last week, but the link wasn’t working. Good to see it is now.
