AAA TV (SAT) 04/19/2014 Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal [AAAMT (1-5)Terra]
1) Argenis, Ludxor, Venum b Carta Brava Jr., Eterno, Súper Fly
Bonus match. Cadetes beat Super Fly with a Spanish Fly.
2) Aerostar, Jennifer Blake, Pimpinela Escarlata b El Apache, Mamba, Taya Valkyrie
Pimpinela defeated Apache after a kiss. Super Fly attacked Aerostar after the match.
3) Daga, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Steve Pain b Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans
Daga declared himself new leader of La Anarquia, beat Jack, and challenged for a tag title shot.
4) Drago & Faby Apache b Pentagón Jr. & Sexy Star and Dark Cuervo & Mary Apache [AAA MIXED TAG]
Faby Apache & Drago came in as champions. Described as first pinfall wins and Sexy submitted Faby for the win. Sexy & Pentagon are the 13rd champions. Drago/Faby fall on second defense (they defended it off TV a couple weekends ago.)
5) Blue Demon Jr. b Villano IV
Another bloody Villano IV match, but another loss. Demon won, then bad mouthed Chessman as part of his challenge. Chessman did not accept, but said such a match would be the end of Demon.
6) Cibernético, La Parka, Psycho Clown b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Hijo del Fantasma, Texano Jr.
Dave the Clown or someone posing as Dave the Clown attacked Psycho Clown on the way to the ring. It’s unclear if this was meant to be an angle. Psycho defeated Texano with the Destroyer. Rudos immediately all attacked the tecnicos (and Faby) as normal, with Monster and Murder Clown making the save.

Air Date: 04/26, 05/03.

The Dave the Clown bit is not mentioned in the recap, but you can currently see Dave in the pictures on AAA’s site. He’s in gear and appears to be coming from backstage, but it also appears security is already going to cut him off. Maybe it’ll make more sense when it airs (or if it’s cut.)

Juventued Guerrera formed La Anarquia as a response to being replaced as leader of Mexican Powers (when he happened to be out of the promotion for a couple years.) History repeated itself! This seemed like Juvi being written out of existence, though I’m less sure what exactly happened this time. Juvi will be back, because Juvi always ends up coming back, but hopefully we’ll get a good story about it in the upcoming days.

Daga & Steve Pain were already announced as facing Angelico & Jack on 05/02, so this change in leadership had to be planned for a little while. This also leaves the Perros del Mal down to Perro Jr., Psicosis, Black Warrior and Taya, though the distinctions between rudo groups do not mean a whole lot at this point. Anarquia hasn’t been treated as a big deal, but it’s much better for Daga to be the top guy in that group than just another Perro.

The opener was added after the fact, so maybe they didn’t just plan on Eterno working this day originally, but it looks weird to have La Anarquia member Eterno replaced in his own trio by very-part-timer Hijo del Pirata Morgan. (Or maybe Pirata’s also ending up in the group? That would be fine, not sure if that is happening. Pirates are pretty much anarchists anyway.)

Fenix wasn’t on this show, but mentioned being in the crowd to watch the show with friends and family. That probably should’ve been a hint about how the title match was going to turn out. Really cool to see Pentagon Jr. to get the recognition of winning a championship; he’s always been very good, but he’s been fantastic this year. The women/mixed titles are almost always going to bounce around between Mary, Faby and Sexy, but AAA could’ve picked any rudo to pick with Sexy Star and they chose the best one.

This is good booking. This is good booking. (I thought I needed to write that twice in case you weren’t sure what you read.) There’s stuff on the top that doesn’t appear to me, but they’re setting up good matches in the middle int he meantime and the best guy in the promotion got a big win.
