good times for Hombre Bala

Hombre Bala Jr., Molotov, Sensei vs Artillero, Espanto Jr., Súper Comando: Really unfortunate ending to what was a good segunda match. First fall finishes was quite the festival of holds which might have not gone as intended. Second fall was fun and these guys were allowed to break out their dives in the third fall. Hombre Bala slipping while climbing the ropes made him look dumb. Super Comando probably did the right thing by moving, but it made Bala look like more of a dope. Still think a Comando/Bala singles match would be pretty fun, but this didn’t quite help.

Stuka tope

Pegasso, Stigma, Stuka Jr. vs Kamaitachi, Sangre Azteca, Virus: Another good match, with strong action throughout. Nothing extraordinary but just smooth all the way thru and Stuka and Virus make a good feuding captain pair. Kamaitachi is fitting in fine and Stigma looked good in his part here. Sangre Azteca was amusing in being two seconds late to break up the final pin (though it would’ve worked better it we couldn’t see him waiting.) Pegasso may want to shelve the 450 splash instead of landing oddly every time.

reverse monkey flip

Cachorro, Cavernario, Dragon Lee, Guerrero Negro Jr., Hechicero, Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Black Panther, Canelo Casas, El Rebelde, Espiritu Negro, Flyer, Herodes Jr., Metálico, Oro Jr. in a cibernetico match: Great. Sheer craziness for a half hour. They only had to do eight eliminations, which meant longer stretches in between eliminations (little of the usual rapid fire pinfalls typical in a CMLL cibernetico) and more time for every single dive possible, twice. Cachorro has a really cool tope I saw at least three times. This was not a clean match by any means, with some iffyness in the middle and the match semifalling apart at the end*. Rebelde looked really good in the time he got, it was disappointing to see him go. Herodes was kind of the opposite. Worth watching just for the spectacle.
* – though if they turned that ending into the start of a Metailco versus Oro Jr. mask versus mask match feud, that would be the best thing ever.

Canelo Casas may still not know what happened

we’re all professionals here

Máximo, Mistico, Super Porky vs Averno, Ephesto, Tiger: So this had Místico blowing spots and glaring at Averno like it his fault, if you’re looking to be depressed by your lucha libre. There was no way this could follow this match even if they tried, so they took the trying out of the equation. Way too many Porky matches of late; watching this and the Sunday one just gave me too much of him doing the same bits when he’s better as a smaller part off matches. Ephesto and Porky turned into unintentional comedy at times. This existed to build up Averno & Místico but I had no particular desire to see it after this match; they had no chemistry here.
