03/29 AAA TV Results (Ciudad Victoria)

AAA TV (SAT) 03/29/2014 Parque de Beisbol Praxedis Balboa, Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas [@AmadorCristina (dark match)AAA]
0) Hombre Sin Miedo, Kendor Jr., Sobredosis ?? ?, ??, ???
dark match.
1) Mascarita Sagrada & Octagoncito b Mini Murder Clown & Mini Psycho Clown
Octagoncito beat Mini Psycho Clown.
2) Faby Apache, Jennifer Blake, La Jarochita b Mary Apache, Sexy Star, Taya Valkyrie
Pentagon Jr. and Dark Cuervo both interfered (again). Faby was hurt, and then finished by a Mary senton. Rudos continued to attack post match until Drago made the save. Cuervo (w/Mary) and Pentagon (w/Sexy Star) both challenged for the mixed titles (again) and Drago accepted (again).
3) Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Dark Spíritu b Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans
Pentagon Jr. caused Suicide to lose (again), then took his mask (again)
4) Chessman, Daga, Steve Pain b Alan Stone, Drago, Fénix
Unannounced bonus match. Blue Demon appeared before the match, surrendering the Latin American championship to Chessman. Chessman celebrating by being upset by Alan Stone in a surprise. Steve Pain claimed Fenix accepted a challenge for the Fusion title, but the AAA recap has no mention of it.
5) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Hijo del Fantasma, Pentagón Jr., Texano Jr.
Psycho Clown beat Texano Jr. with the Canadian Destroyer (again) and challenged him to a title match (again). Secta interrupted to attack the Psycho Circus and demand a trios title match (again)
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Parka Negra II, Zorro b Blue Demon Jr., Cibernético, La Parka
Blue Demon made the show! Zorro hit Cibernetico with the stick horse, then put on the camel clutch with stick horse. That’s now known as the Enrique Torres Clutch.

Air date: 04/05 & 04/12 – bonus match allows them to stretch this out over two tapings. They didn’t have enough for 04/12 unless they added a match. Something must have changed with the taping schedule and they must’ve figured it out a while back since Konnan knew Chessman would be here to get his missing title belt. At least AAA is weirdly consistent – they’re not going to tell you when people are missing, but they’re also not going to tell you when extra people are added. They’re just not going to tell you!

While we’re on TV schedule news, the dumbest thing I spend a lot of time thinking about, TV announced three more shows:

04/19 (Saturday) in Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera – airs 04/26 & 05/03
05/02 (Friday) in Minatitlan, Veracruz – airs 05/10?
05/04 (Sunday) in Villahermosa, Tabasco – airs 05/17?

Been a while since AAA’s done the two tapings in one weekend deal (last June), though they’re going Wednesday/Saturday with SLP and that DF taping. Maybe a coincidence, maybe a plan to free up longer unbroken time to be in the US working on the El Rey project.

The floor seats – the infield in this baseball park – looked very full. Some parts of the stadium looked very full. Some other parts of the stadium did not look much full.

Tonight’s show was a good follow up to an AAA major event. The only slight issue is the major event it seemed to be following up was Guerra de Titanes 2013, and not Rey de Reyes 2014. Cuervo exists again, and so his dropped plotlines are brought up for the first time in four months. The mixed tag challenge dates back to the August 30th Naucalpan show, and was actually changed to a Cuervo/Taya team when AAA started the build to the exoticos/AAA cage match (which Mary wasn’t in.) The Secta trios title challenge was set up for Guerra de Titanes, didn’t happen due to the Cuervo & Ozz AJPW trip, and wasn’t important to get brought up for the last few months. Sadly, the Fantasma/Fenix feud from those times doesn’t appear to have returned with the rest of it.

The Texano/Psycho feud has been brought up the last few months, but it hasn’t progressed since December. Pentagon Jr.’s issues are newer but also not moving. AAA appears to be a bit more interested in making the DF tapings important, so maybe one of these feuds will get advanced on the 19th. Otherwise, more holding patterns until June or maybe Cuervo will forget about his feuds again.

Alan Stone, fringe roster member who appeared not to be on the roster earlier this year, beating new champion Chessman doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense. There’s no obvious reason Chessman should be losing his first match after winning a title, and there are other tecnicos who seem more deserving of that sort of win from what we can tell. The best case I can make for it is Alan Stone getting a couple surprise wins to set up a quick title shot, then Chessman obliterating him in the title match. The Latin American championship is Blue Demon’s title, he’s going to win it as soon as he can show up for a title match. Before that happens, It’d make sense for Chessman to get in a defense to legitimatize his reign. Even better if it can be a dominant one, and Alan Stone is someone AAA could afford to totally sacrifice without hurting any long term plans. There’s no sense in squashing Fenix or Drago, but Alan Stone isn’t going anywhere anyway right now. This plan would require AAA to book a short feud, one which actually gets onto the final match, and that doesn’t fit their behavior at all. It’s may just be randomness, but Alan and Chessman happen to be set up against each other in SLP on the next show.

Dark match was said to be really good. The identified team is Los Poderosos of Cantu promotions (Arena Cuatro Caminos in Nuevo Laredo), so assume their opponents are three of the tecnicos from the same building.

Next taping is on 04/16 in SLP.
