Air Date: 03/22 and 03/29. I would wager the opener is a dark match that doesn’t make either week. Maybe also air date 03/16, but there’s still no official word of an iPPV or a traditional.

Pentagon Jr. is awesome and whatever match he’s going to be in is going to be better for having him in it, even a garbage cage match where the participants are restricted from doing anything resembling a normal match and half the ‘action’ will be the luchadors trying to climb a purposefully difficult to scale structure. Pentagon has spend the last three TV tapings attacking Australian Suicide and make challenges for a Sexy Star/Pentagon Jr. versus Faby Apache/Drago mixed tag title match. All of those other luchadors are on this show, but Pentagon Jr. will not be fighting any of them. Pentagon is instead tacked on to a feud he’s had absolutely nothing to do with to this point.

Aerostar and Super Fly have feuded on TV. They’re both on this show. They’re not fighting each other.

I’m sick of writing about Texano’s lame title reign, but the bits where he talks about how long he’s been champion are now coming off as comedy heel stuff than intended. (I think WWE does more US title matches than AAA does world title matches.) Demon’s title is more or less positioned as the bigger deal now.

AAA’s major show has only two matches which are the climax of stories they’ve been telling on TV. One is a tournament, so they really didn’t have much choice to end it here. The other may have been agreed on long ago, so AAA had no choice but to work backwards and have it make sense.

It’s a mystery to me why the TV is so irrelevant – it’s as if this card was put together by a different group of people. I assumed they were being put together by the same people, but this card feels like it was thrown together by someone who hasn’t been watching AAA’s TV the last three months. Maybe all the threads they’ve worked on in January and February will be knitted together in June, but AAA’s asking for an extreme amount of patience when they’re not known for delivering on time or or at all. AAA’s thrilled about selling out their TV tapings and I hope everyone makes all the money they can, but it doesn’t change the reality that television product has been inconsistent and nonsensical since TripleMania. This is just the latest, greatest example of it.

Third match has a chance to be very good. Two might be, but it’s stacked with guys who are one dimensional and missing someone to pull it together. Pentagon Jr. is obviously going to end up involved in that match to attack Suicide, but the match would’ve been stronger with him in it (swap him and Super Fly and they could move to a pretty strong Anarkia/Cadetes feud coming out of this show.) Demon and Chessman could be a sleeper match – the story they’re telling is both guys want to prove their wrestling skill, and that’s a lot different match than Chessman’s been doing. He might surprise.

This entire show is going to drive me insane with stupid pinfall breakups in elimination matches. Looking forward to it. Main event should be a lot of that and some story. There doesn’t seem to be much more story going on, and obviously the story doesn’t matter much.
