Cavernario & Niebla to Gran Alternativa final, AAA dark matches

CMLL (FRI) 02/07/2014 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico b Acero & Shockercito
Rudos took 1/3.
2) Sagrado, Stigma, Stuka Jr. b Cancerbero, Kamaitachi, Raziel
Stuka replaced Pegasso. Tecnicos took 1/3 in a good match.
3) Dark Angel, Marcela, Silueta DQ Amapola, Dalys, La Seductora
Straight falls, when Dalys dropkicked the ref by mistake in the second fall for the DQ. She still challenged Marcela to a title match.
4) Hechicero & Star Boy Jr. b Bárbaro Cavernario, Black Panther, Canelo Casas, Dragon Lee, Espiritu Negro, Herodes Jr. [CMLL GA, seeding battle royal]
5) Herodes Jr. & Shocker b Espiritu Negro & Reapper [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
6) Dragon Lee & Rush b Canelo Casas & Negro Casas [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
7) Bárbaro Cavernario & Mr. Niebla b Black Panther & Blue Panther [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
8) Hechicero & Último Guerrero b Atlantis & Star Jr. [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
9) Dragon Lee & Rush b Herodes Jr. & Shocker [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
10) Hechicero & Último Guerrero b Cavernario & Mr. Niebla [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
11) Bárbaro Cavernario & Mr. Niebla b Dragon Lee & Rush [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
12) Marco Corleone, Thunder, Volador Jr. b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Reruns for Marco (injury) & Thunder (???). Volador replaced Sombra.

This is the second time in about a month Sombra’s been pulled from the main event of a Friday night show. (This decision was made sometime in advance; the introduction segment for Fox Sports already had Volador in the main event.) Not sure what happened, or if it has anything to do with the Sin Cara appearance. He’s not on next week’s cards, but had previously mentioned he was headed back home for the weekend.

Gran Alterntiva final is Barbaro Cavernario & Mr. Niebla versus Soberano Jr. & Mr. Niebla Volador Jr.. Barbaro and Soberano are about at the same level now and both have promise for the future. CMLL seems to have more plans for Barbaro at the moment, which may make him the slight favorite.

Dalys and Marcela’s title match feels like it got pushed back a week, but I don’t think many people are going to skip out on the AAA show to see Dalys vs Marcela in a title match.

Kamataichi is looking like he’s going to be good here.

CMLL announced the 02/16 Sunday show will be back at Arena Mexico and at Fan Appreciation prices. That figures to be another Estetas vs Revolucionarios title match.

AAA has posted the unaired openers from Naucalpan and from Toluca to their YouTube channel. There had been hits AAA might do this earlier in the week and they’re nice treats. The first includes Super Fly’s latest rudo run. The rest of the Toluca show will air today.

El Elegido will appear on Televisa’s El Gran Chapuzon, a celebrity diving competition show. They dive into a swimming pool, people who actually know who to do that grade them, and the comedy comes from people having no idea what they’re doing. (They did this concept in the US as “Splash” a while back.) The show starts next Sunday and runs for just four weeks.

Estetas del Aire defeated Dragon Rojo, Rey Escorpion and Averno in Arena Xalapa. Show seems to have drawn much better than the locals only shows here.

Porra Fresa previews Monday’s card.

Kcidis returns (!) to draw Sin Cara joining a new club.

Segunda Caida writes about Titan vs Virus.

DJ Spectro looks back at Aristoteles & Aspirante, Hayato & Sato, and the debut of Espanto Jr.

Confabulario magazine is devoting it’s issue this weekend to El Santo.

The Gladiatores has video of the FIL (women’s group) press conference for their show next weekend

Fuego en el Ring interviews Paloma Rouse.

Someone’s created a fake Facebook account for CMLL edecan Isabel as a way to get photos.

Gran Guerrero returns for a Guerreros vs Estetas match.

Dalys gets a lightning match, not a title one.

Segunda is again one person short of the Cadetes del Espacio!
