CMLL (FRI) 01/10/2014 Arena Mexico [@therealfredo, CMLL]
1) Demus 3:16 & Pierrothito b Eléctrico & Último Dragoncito
Dragoncito replaced Astral on Wednesday (injury), then ended up hurt himself in the second fall of this match when Pierothito dropkicked him in the face. He was done for a while and eventually streteched out. May have been a broken nose. Rudos took 1/3, Demus defeating Electrico with his knockout punch (which Electrico said left him groggy on Sunday) and the Demus Driver.
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón b Boby Zavala, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Dark Angel, Estrellita, Goya Kong b Amapola, Dalys, La Seductora
Tecnicas, who are now known as Sexy Team, took 2/3.
4) Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Reaper b Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente
Invasors took 1/3 with Reapear beating Mistico clean in a significant upset.
5) Negro Casas b Volador Jr.
Moved to the semimain (so the complete “tournament” could air.) Negro took the first with a scorpion, Volador won the second with a backcracker and Negro shoved the ref and snuck in a foul in the third for a win.
6) Atlantis, La Máscara, Máximo b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
La Mascara replaced La Sombra (who seemed upset on Twitter about whatever happened to replace him.) Tecnicos appear to have won 2/3.

Casas/Volador was good, but I liked last week’s match better. Eric says in his review of the 01/04 CMLL Azteca show that Volador has not been as charismatic character as a tecnico. I totally agree with that; he comes off as the most generic CMLL tecnico (who’s has to get his stage dive in every singles match) and has lost the edge he had as a rudo. The only time I really saw it last night was when he did the headbutt spot, but that’s too infrequent.

Reaper beating Mistico was so random. It’s got to be setting up an Invasors/Estetas trios title match when Dorada & Mistico return from Japan, but the old Mistico would’ve lost cleanly to a guy on Reaper’s level. He might have not lost via cheating to Reaper. And I’m not sure this Mistico would’ve lost either if this was 12-18 months ago. Mistico La Nueva Era doesn’t exist only so they can keep selling the merchandise (like WWE Sin Cara), but he’s far from being booked as the top star and he doesn’t even feel like he’s in the top handful.

(watch this be a build up to Mistico/Reaper for Dos Leyendas now!)

DTU announced Flamita & Rocko Lobo’s return match on 02/01 will be against Violento Jack & Kealeth. That’s not exactly that match I’d like to see of those guys.

Dandy and Satanico are scheduled to have matches on 01/17 in Tijuana, 02/09 in Monterrey, 02/16 in Guadalajara, and plans for Reynosa, Saltillo, Mexicali, Nogales, Guanajuato, Cancun and Merida.

R de Rudo has a good interview with Fenix.
