Hombre Bala Jr. & Súper Halcón Jr. vs Artillero & Súper Comando: one of the best openers of the year, because both teams are vastly over qualified to be in openers and more of this match got to air than most bonus Fox Sports openers. Both teams work exceedingly well within their team (especially compared to CMLL’s ever shifting lineups) and also now work against each other strongly. CMLL has a lot of more high profile matchups that are always known to be good, and this one matchup should definitely be included among them.
Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Titán vs Misterioso Jr., Taichi, Vangellys: Finish seems like a screw up, though it can’t be a total one since Misterioso was messing around with Maya’s mask (and it had to be untied in the first place for that finish to happen.) Just randomness causing a really short match. Match was going okay if definitely paint by numbers. Taichi, as has been true the last 2/3rds of his stint, was asked to do little and managed to do that much. I’m still not sure how Ishii is going to do, but it can’t be any less than Taichi has done since the Sombra injury.
Marco Corleone, Máximo, Shocker vs Hiroshi Tanahashi, Namajague, Puma: just a showcase for Shocker, Máximo and Marco, with the oddity of one of the rudos happening to be Hiroshi Tanahashi. He did better than Taichi did in his match (and really could’ve got away with doing less.) Rudos made the técnicos look good here despite not being a usual match up. If Puma doesn’t get to go to Japan once to be Namajague’s tag team partner, I will be sad.
