1) Bastet & Big Mama b Black Fury & Dark Lady
Black Fury replaced La Sadica.
2) Freelance b SádicoMike SeguraImpulsoSpider BoyPantera ISeiyaKiuby [cibernetico]
Best match of the night, money thrown in. Freelance beat Sadico for the win.
3) Eterno, Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Epitafio, Leviatham, Samael, Tormento
4) Cerebro Maligno b Herejía [AULL LH]
Cerebro Maligno wins the title from his (former?) friend, despite Judas el Traidor helping Herejia during the match. Herejia falls on first defense
5) Chucho el Roto, Iron Love, Terry 2000, Yakuza b Comando Negro, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Super Mega
6) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan b Gallego, Rocky Santana, Romano Garcia
Black Terry’s right eye was closed shut after taking a kick from Negro Casas on Friday (but he still wrestled and won.)
7) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Lizmark Jr. b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Tinieblas Jr.
Perro brawl. Perro snuck in a foul on Wagner for the win.

Dr. Wagner Jr. did a post match interview where he said he does not belong to any promotion, including TxT, but would be up for a 09/01 mask vs mask vs mask match with Santo and LA Park. That’s two weekends away, you’d think they would’ve had a press conference for it if they were really going to do it.

Black Terry’s eye looks ugly in the pictures. No one should’ve been upset if he didn’t work, but he worked.

CMLL (SUN) 08/18/2013 Arena Mexico [@therealfredo, CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Cholo & Namajague b Molotov & Oro Jr.
Namajague replaced Zayco. Rudos won in straight falls in a quick match.
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus, Súper Halcón Jr. b Arkángel de la Muerte, Canelo Casas, Nosferatu
Canelo looked fine in his Arena Mexico debut. His grandmother was among the Casas family members in attendance. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Felino, Puma, Tiger b Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr.
Rudos took 1/3. Puma escaped Angel de Oro’s mecedora and put him in a mecedora, then a campana, in a direct reversal of their lightning match finish. Tiger was still in TRT gear and believes he’s still in the group (saying last week was a misunderstanding) but also mentioned teaming up with his family more.
4) Diamante Azul b Euforia [lightning]
Azul won with la de a caballo. CMLL’s recap notes the hold was invented by Gori Guerrero.
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla, Pólvora b Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3, Niebla top rope splashing Mistico for the deciding pin. Fans booed the tecnicos loudly during their post match promo.
6) La Máscara, Rush, Titán b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys [MEX TRIOS]
Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the last two to keep the titles. Rush Driver on Vangellys for the deciding pin. Titan seemed to be hurt early on and struggled at times during the match. First defense for Rush, Titan and La Mascara

If you’re expecting any clarification on whom is and is not in TRT, you’re following the wrong promotion. 70% chance this is all never spoken again since the trios title program is over.

Canelo Casas popped up on the Arkangel 25th Anniversary show (in Arena Coliseo), but this was his first Arena Mexico appearance. Starting him in the segunda seems to be a positive sign for his future.

CMLL (SUN) 08/18/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Índigo & Meteoro b El Tapatío & Relampago Azul
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Demonio Rojo & Jocker b Brillante & El Ídolo
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Sky Kid & Virgo b Infierno & Magnum
Sky Kid replaced Halcon de Plata. Tecnicos took 1/3.
4) Black Metal, Leo, Smaker b Espectrum, Exterminador, Ráfaga
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Olímpico, Psicosis, Volador Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máximo
Rudos took 1/3. Volador pulled Sombra’s mask and pinned him for the win. Sombra challenged Volador to a title match next week.

I wonder if they’re going to be doing Volador/Sombra everywhere this week (and if I want to see it and the possible apuesta match or if it’ll all seem like repeats.)

Tomahawk won the DTU Alto Impacto title in Arena Solidaridad. Eita’s previously held this title and this seems to indicate Tomahawk will be around at least one more set of DTU shows.

Lucha Libre in Japan

08/17 Stardom: Dark Angel b Takumi Iroha [STARDOM WONDER] – 3rd defense
The Stardom league tournament, 5STAR GP, starts tomorrow and runs thru 09/23.

NJPW announced Rey Bucanero will be on their next tour. The entire tour runs from 09/05 to 09/28. Bucanero is listed for at least thru 09/14. Bucanero may be on the rest of the shows, but they don’t say and there’s no full cards yet for those shows.

The 09/14 show is at Korakuen Hall, with Tanahashi & Liger defending the CMLL tag team titles against Bucanero and Tama Tonga. This is probably tied to Tanahashi not sticking around for the CMLL Anniversary show, though it’ll be especially odd for Bucanero to be in Japan to build up this title match while Tanahashi is in Mexico. I’m not sure what I want to see happen; Tanahashi & Liger keeping the tag team titles means no tag team titles for a while longer (which may  not be actually important), but Tama & ReyBuc winning the tag team titles means Terrible lost the tag team titles for no good reason (or the Universal tournament, which is the same thing.) I’d much rather see Terrible with the tag team titles than Bucanero, which is where we’re at with Rey Bucanero in 2013.

  1. Guadalajara show appears dead.

Puebla show is airing, but recording hasn’t worked out. I tried to get it last night, and the (totally illegal) feed that usually broadcasts it was airing a repeat of SummerSlam instead. They jumped back to TVC Deportes to show the last 4 minutes of Averno vs Mistico, which was hilariously annoying.

  2. I see. Oh well, usually the Arena Mexico shows are the better, at least for the main eventers. But i always enjoyed some lowcard action from Puebla where they actually allow you to see that the primera & segunda wrestlers also can perform dives and be just as good as the main eventers.
